Eonian Records, the world’s premier hard rock and metal archive label is pleased to announce the first two titles of 2010: CHARLOTTE “Medusa Groove” and LEGACY “Self-Titled” both available worldwide on Tuesday, April 20th.
CHARLOTTE “Medusa Groove”
During the over-the-top excesses of the late 80’s, every new rock band grabbing for the brass ring went the hair-metal route, but CHARLOTTE refused to be blind little lambs led to the corporate rock slaughter, instead creating a fresh, invigorating, blues-drenched melodic metal sound that conjured up a restless, roaming, slithering rock ‘n’ roll voodoo. In other words, they said the devil be damned and marched to their own thunderous drums. And when they damned the devil, God or Fate or Lady Luck or whatever you want to call it took them on one hell of a hard rocking ride. Their mission: Play the kind of metal music that unleashes the primal beast in all of us and nails everyone to the wall with its moody aggression. They unveiled their unique style at Jezebel’s in Orange County, California and quickly garnered barrels of buzz for their Great White, Led Zeppelin, and Guns N’ Roses-influenced sound. Their popularity rose rapidly, taking them through renowned venues like The Whisky-A-Go-Go, The Roxy, and The Troubadour. But they never lost sight of their vision, refusing to follow the popular trends, always staying true to themselves while delivering vibrant, creative, unpredictable hard rock music.
For fans of Great White, Led Zeppelin, and Guns N’ Roses.
LEGACY – S/T
LEGACY was a pack of righteously rogue mousse-abuse mavericks who merged the messianic message with loud, raucous, rowdy rock ‘n’ roll. Created in 1987, the band felt a burning deep in their souls to unleash an all-cylinders-cranking metal machine that could not only rock your face off, but share a message of sacred love while doing so. The sizzling salvo of heavy guitars, thunderous rhythms, melodic hooks, and layered vocals went hand in hand with who they were as servants of faith. Citing Columbus, Ohio as their home base and bands like Stryper, Dokken, and Scorpions as their influences, the band invaded all manner of musical venues in their quest to bring their message-oriented metal to the masses. In the winter of 1989, LEGACY became the first Christian band to ever take the coveted crown in the Battle of the Bands at the renowned Alrosa Villa heavy metal club in front of nearly 10,000 concert goers. Fueled by this success and gaining momentum rapidly, they opened for several Christian rock legends, including REZ, Shout, Sacred Warrior, and Allies. Despite any obstacles thrown in their way, the band never lost faith in their mission to rock for the Rock and answer the call to dance with metal destiny.
For fans of Dokken, Scorpions and Stryper.
Both CHARLOTTE “Medusa Groove” and LEGACY “Self-Titled” will be available on TUESDAY, APRIL 20th at most any store that carries AOR, Hard Rock, and Metal worldwide, as well as at www.EonianRecords.com.
Eonian Records is now proudly distributed in Europe through Fastball Records & Intergroove. For inquiries, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.

KISKE/SOMERVILLE, the new project featuring former HELLOWEEN vocalist Michael Kiske and American singer Amanda Somerville, filmed two videos — “Silence” and “If I Had A Wish” — on March 28 and March 29 in Nurnberg, Germany. Joining Kiske and Somerville for the shoot were bassist and main composer Mat Sinner (SINNER, PRIMAL FEAR), guitarist Sander Gommans (AFTER FOREVER, HDK), drummer Rami Ali and keyboardist Jimmy Kresic (VOODOO CIRCLE). The clips were directed by Martin Mueller of RCN TV who previously helmed U.D.O.‘s “Black and White” and “Mean Streets” and GOTTHARD‘s “The Call” videos.
Check out behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoot below :
The KISKE/SOMERVILLE debut album is scheduled for release in September. A digital single, “Silence”, will be launched in late august before the release of the full album.
Commented Mat Sinner: “The first video clip is for ther song and first single of the album, ‘Silence’, and was shot at the Opera House. The second video clip was shot for the song ‘If I Had A Wish’ in an old and closed public bath. Hard job for all of us, but we had a fantastic time!”
The songs that will end up on the album (not final sequence; composers for each track listed in parenthesis) are:
01. Nothing Left To Say (Mat Sinner & Magnus Karlsson)
02. Silence (Mat Sinner & Magnus Karlsson)
03. If I Had A Wish (Mat Sinner & Magnus Karlsson)
04. One Night Burning (Mat Sinner & Magnus Karlsson)
05. Arise (Sander Gommans & Amanda Somerville)
06. End Of The Road (Mat Sinner & Jimmy Kresic)
07. Don’t Walk Away (Mat Sinner & Magnus Karlsson)
08. Devil In Her Heart (Mat Sinner & Jimmy Kresic)
09. Rain (Mat Sinner & Magnus Karlsson)
10. A Thousand Suns (Sander Gommans & Amanda Somerville)
11. Second Chance (Mat Sinner & Magnus Karlsson)
12. Set A Fire (Sander Gommans & Amanda Somerville)
Somerville is the American singer-songwriter and vocal coach who was tapped to replace EPICA vocalist Simone Simons on the band’s North American tour with SYMPHONY X due to Simons‘ health issues. Amanda was also featured on KAMELOT‘s latest release, “Ghost Opera”, and toured with AVANTASIA. She released her solo album, “Windows”, in 2008. A Michigan native, Amanda has resided and worked mainly in Germany and the Netherlands since 1999. She has collaborated with several other bands in the metal scene along with producers Sascha Paeth and Miro, and co-wrote the rock opera “Aina”. Her own music is of the pop-rock genre.
Danish rockers, Star Rats are back with their third effort Screw The Consequences. On this album, the Star Rats welcome their new singer, Magnus Moller. Those of you, who may have been fans of the band’s previous singer,Søren Nico Adamsen have nothing to fear. Moller proves to have a good voice for this style of rock, and if anything, has helped the Star Rats put out their best CD yet. Screw the Consequences is packed with heavy riff laden rock that sleaze rock fans are sure to love. I would not go so far as saying every song on this CD is perfect, as there is definitely some room for improvement here. There are some pretty good tunes on this CD though, and I overall I have found Screw the Consequences quite enjoyable.
Some of my favorites include “Who Cares”, “Raise Your Hands To Rock”, “Another Tragedy” “Land’s End” (which features the vocals of Celina Ree) and the album closer “Boozehound” (See video below).
The band has taken one of Bon Jovi’s biggest ballads, “I’ll Be There For You”, and have given it a punk rock like sound. There is no trace of a ballad left in their cover of this song. I love this version.
I am quite impressed with the guitar work of Dennis Post. This guy plays like a madman on this record. You truly need to give this disc a couple of plays to fully appreciate his playing here. This is great stuff.
I don’t know if the Star Rats had it in their mind that their music would not radio ready when they recorded it. Every song seems to be sprinkled with enough expletives that would make most FCC officials blush. Needless to say, you aren’t going to hear Screw the Consequences on the FM airwaves, but you ought to pick up the CD, and play it on your own. It is a good disc and definitely worth checking out.

Southern rock legends Molly Hatchet are giving all proceeds from their new single “Fly On Wings Of Angels” to the Somer Thompson Foundation. The single, which will appear on Molly Hatchet’s upcoming ‘Justice’ CD, is available for purchase at http://www.mollyhatchet.com/MollyHatchetMP3Downloads.html.
Diena Thompson found herself living every parent’s worst nightmare when her 7 year old daughter went missing on October 19, 2009. Two days later, in a Georgia landfill, Somer’s body was discovered. The community felt an immediate call to action. Fundraisers were coordinated to aid Diena and her family, as well as to raise money for the reward fund.
Multi-platinum, International Recording Artists Molly Hatchet has played an integral part in supporting Diena Thompson. The band donated items for a silent auction and orchestrated a benefit concert, which included fellow Jacksonville based bands, Something Distant and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Molly Hatchet’s biggest contribution to this case is the song that was written in Somer Thompson’s memory. “Fly on Wings of Angels” is a beautiful ballad that opens with Somer’s older sister, Abby, singing “You are my Sunshine”, Somer’s favorite song. The song will be the first single on the bands new album titled “JUSTICE” which will be release on June 1, 2010 worldwide.
Somer’s Song…Fly on Wings of Angels with Abby Thompson (Sister singing in her memory on the opening of the song which was Somers favorite “You are my Sunshine”.
To celebrate the release of Diamond Eyes on May 4th, Deftones and Hard Rock Hideout are excited to offer you the chance to win an ESP LTD SC-207 guitar signed by Deftones.

Type O Negative label, SPV / Steamhammer has issued the following statement:
“It’s with great sadness that we give our condolences to the family and friends of Peter Steele. He died on April 14th, 2010. With his bands CARNIVORE and Type O Negative he achieved cult status and was loved by fans around the world.
The last releases he did with Type O Negative were the DVD Symphony For The Devil and the studio album Dead Again. SPV/Steamhammer proudly released both products worldwide, which will now – very unfortunately – be the end of his recording legacy.
The world has lost a charismatic frontman and a very talented person.
Our condolences go to Peter`s family, friends and the members of his bands.
In Mourning… SPV / Steamhammer.”
If Jon Oliva has proven one thing throughout his music career, it’s that he is never at a loss for storytelling through song. Jon Oliva’s Pain is just another amazing band that he has nurtured and built to stand the test of time. Festival is the newest release from Jon Oliva’s Pain, (released on April 13, 2010 in the U.S.). Festival is just that… a festival of songs that embody horror, nightmarish stories and the human experience.
If you are hankering for a new Heavy Metal album, that touches on some diverse musical material, while lending some dark themes lyrically, Festival should satisfy your palette. Need not worry though, this album delivers the hard and heavy that has grown on me considerably, which should do the same for any Jon Oliva’s Pain or Heavy Metal fan, in all likelihood. Jon Oliva is no stranger to atmospherics and chilling sound effects… Jon Oliva’s Pain delivers such mentioned on the opening track Festival. The chilling and carnival like sound effects open Festival, with spine curdling thunder storm atmospherics that explodes the creep-out meter.
“Death Rides A Black Horse” is a superior listen into a nightmare that engages with its epic and haunting keyboards. Without question, I cannot get “Death Rides A Black Horse” out of my mind ever since I first heard it, the atmospheric keyboards are what has captivated me so incredibly. This very easily can be the highlight song, that is played at the culmination of an epic horror film. “Eyes of hell burn in his eyes” are just a sampling of the lyrical content this song bestows… the grim reaper rides again through Jon Oliva’s Pain!
The one word that comes to mind while listening to Festival, is that these songs embody the integrity and substance of a man who knows how to write the utmost credible music and lyrics. Now has the sound and flavor of late 1970’s Electric Light Orchestra, while never leaving the threads of Jon Oliva’s Pain far behind.”Lies” upholds a Power Metal meets Traditional Heavy Metal union. Jon Oliva’s vocals on “Lies” reminds me of just how Heavy Metal vocals can pierce through a song with uncanny resonance.
“Looking For Nothing” has a Beatle-esque coating, the music speaks tranquility, all the while brandishing a 1970’s Classic Rock sword. “Living On The Edge” jumps out at me as a psyche-you-out song that straddles dark lyrics with an electrifying hardness. This dramatic song finds its incredible balance within its memorable melodies, caught between the speed and paced heaviness of the music itself.
To comment on the totality of musicianship I hear on Festival, the only way I can describe the credibility of this Jon Oliva’s Pain lineup, is to state, please take the time to buy Festival and listen for yourself… honestly, these guys are that great at what they do. If there is that one song on Festival, that exemplifies what I honestly mean here, it is “Winter Haven”. This song distinguishes itself amongst Festival as raising the music bar… and Jon Oliva’s Pain have succeeded in doing just that, in my Metal opinion.
Layered and textured are the songs throughout Festival, the ingredients and arrangements from a music mastermind in Jon Oliva comes through with heavy and soft results. I find both the heavy and soft sides of Festival, to be quite delectable for my music palette. This is a return to Old School form for Jon Oliva’s Pain, only it is presented with admirable conscientious care. If Jon Oliva set out to celebrate his interpretation of Heavy Metal, he has done so with Jon Oliva’s Pain and Festival… and I’m on board for this celebration.

This will be the SCREAM heard around the world.
OZZY OSBOURNE will release SCREAM — his first album in almost three years and 10th studio album overall — June 15 via Epic Records. Produced by OZZY and Kevin Churko, both of whom did the same honors for OZZY’s 2007 worldwide million-seller Black Rain, the album will feature the first single “Let Me Hear You Scream.” The fist-pumping anthemic song will have its world premiere, during a prison riot scene, on “CSI: NY” tonight, Wednesday, April 14 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and also arrives at radio today. A preview of “Let Me Hear You Scream” can be experienced here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJlnbCjtu9I
The multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer recorded most ofSCREAM at his Los Angeles home studio, The Bunker, and co-wrote all the songs, primarily with Churko. Notably, the album marks the first appearance of OZZY’s new guitar player, Gus G.
OZZY’s band also features bassist Blasko, drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboardist Adam Wakeman. In addition to “Let Me Hear You Scream,” the album’s confirmed tracks are: “Diggin Me Down”, “Let It Die”, “Soul Sucker”, “Fearless”, “I Want It All”, “Time”, “Crucify” and “I Love You All.”
OZZY will also embark on an 18-month world tour (dates TBA) in support of SCREAM, with news about OZZFEST to emerge next week.
OZZY recently stormed onto a non-music chart with his autobiography I AM OZZY (Grand Central Publishing) — the rock icon’s unbelievable story told, for the first time, in his hilarious, witty, and inimitable voice — debuting at #2 on The New York Times best-sellers list amid glowing reviews.

CHICKENFOOT ROCKS OUT MAY 4th WITH ONE OF THE MOST FUN AND EXCITING BLU-RAY AND DVD LIVE CONCERT RELEASES OF THE YEAR
Hilarious Bonus Documentary Showcases Supergroup’s Offstage Antics as Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Chad Smith Conduct – and Misconduct – Exclusive Interviews with Bob Weir, Adam Carolla, Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tufnel, and YOU!
Tune into the Live Concert Webcast from Cabo San Lucas April 24th at BestBuy.com!
4th Single, ‘My Kinda Girl,’ at Classic and Mainstream Rock Radio Now!
CHICKENFOOT heightens the worldwide buzz from the rock supergroup’s incendiary arrival last year with the Blu-ray and DVD release of CHICKENFOOT: GET YOUR BUZZ ON “LIVE” — one of the most highly anticipated live rock ’n’ roll concert experiences of 2010. The Blu-ray and DVD, including an hysterically innovative bonus documentary, will be released Tuesday, May 4 by DC3 Music Group, LLC, following a series of virtual concert screenings at select theaters nationwide and a live concert webcast from Cabo San Lucas, set for April 24 (10 p.m. CST) at BestBuy.com.
Filmed with 16 hi-definition cameras over three sold out concerts, CHICKENFOOT: GET YOUR BUZZ ON “LIVE” offers fans an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience four rock ’n’ roll legends — vocalist Sammy Hagar (ex-Van Halen, Montrose), bassist Michael Anthony (ex-Van Halen), drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani – sharing their explosive musicianship and dynamic chemistry on-stage and off.
As fun as they are on stage, CHICKENFOOT is just plain funny offstage. That’s the uniqueness of the offbeat bonus documentary, jam-packed with exclusive, never-before-seen backstage footage, rare interviews and extra performance video. The band members unconventionally take control of the interviews by instead conducting — or misconducting — them in their own individual styles. Their prank victims are show biz pals Bob Weir, Adam Carolla and Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tufnel, as well as the unsuspecting public, who get ambushed throughout the documentary man-in-the-street-style by Smith, asking whether they’ve ever heard of the band CHICKENFOOT and can recognize their faces in a publicity photo. You’ll be tickled at most of the answers, knowing the band’s debut album went No. 4 in Billboard and gold all over the world.
Hagar drops in on Weir at home by Hagar, and uncovers the last time the former Grateful Dead lead singer dropped acid and what gets his buzz on these days. Anthony shares backstage couch time, CHICKENFOOT merchandise and chicken wings with Carolla. And Satriani buzzes around venues on both sides of the Atlantic with “Joe-Cam” firmly mounted to his head before allowing Nigel Tufnel (alias Christopher Guest) some not-so-serious interview time.
CHICKENFOOT’s self-titled debut album, released in heat sensitive packaging, has sold over 750,000 copies and has been a Top 10 radio mainstay since its release last June. (The fourth single, “My Kinda Girl,” is at classic and mainstream rock radio now). The band embarked on a small North American club tour, performed in Europe in the summer and returned to North America to perform two sold out summer tours, followed by another in the fall.
The electrifying, hi-energy concert performances were filmed in hi-definition last summer by award-winning director Daniel E. Catullo III (Rush, Creed, Godsmack, Smashing Pumpkins) and mixed in DTS 5.1 Surround Sound by Mike Fraser.
The Blu-ray and DVD features one full concert shot at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix on Sept. 23rd, 2009, plus live segments from shows last fall at the Tabernacle in Atlanta and The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, plus a bonus photo gallery.

Can too much Airbourne be a bad thing? Considering how much I love this band, I would be very quick to answer “No”. On Airbourne’s new album, No Guts No Glory depending on which version of the CD you buy, you will get an unprecedented five bonus tracks. I don’t recall any band doing this recently, and definitely not with all new material. In this crappy economy, the special edition of No Guts, No Glory offers rock fans plenty of value and great songs to rock out to!
The opening riff of “Born To Kill” immediately brought Fastway to mind. For a second I thought Sammi Curr was going to jump through my speakers. Luckily this song blasts off quickly, and sounds like the kissing cousin of “Girls In Black”. This song captures Airbourne at an all time high. What a way to start off an album! WOW!
I have been rockin’ out to the first single “No Way But the Hard Way” for a month now. I love this song, but I found the video (see below) a little lacking.
“Blonde, Bad and Beautiful” ought to be another single off of this CD. This radio ready anthem should be another hit. The lyrics in this tune are great! “She is a wet drink in the desert of lust”….that is classic!
If there was a way to bottle the energy of Airbourne on songs like “Raise the Flag”, I don’t think we would need gas for our cars anymore. This is another great, up-tempo rocker. Airbourne is certainly raising the flag for Rock & Roll!
I don’t anything about Airbourne’s hometown of Warrnambool, but I am guessing that “Steel Town” was written about it. If not, the band may have managed to write a brand new anthem for the Pittsburgh Steelers. This song is tailor-made for the NFL. I have a feeling we are going to be hearing this song for many years to come.
If I had to pick a favorite song off of No Guts, No Glory, “Get Busy Livin” would have to be it. This is a super catchy rocker, with a really cool riff. This ought to be a monster song for Airbourne.
I have only mentioned a few of the songs on No Guts, No Glory, but I did not find a bad tune on this CD. In my opinion, Airbourne is rocking as hard, and is releasing music as good as the bands that influenced them. I believe they have delivered a better disc than their classic debut, Runnin’ Wild. The bonus tracks make the Special Edition of No Guts, No Glory, the must own CD of 2010.
No Guts, No Glory will be released on April 20th! I highly recommend picking this one up!

Fresh off of their North American tour with Paul DiAnno in support of their February 9th release, Draw Down The Moon, Pittsburgh based melodic metal band ICARUS WITCH have announced a change in their lead vocal department. In a statement from the band’s official site they explained the situation:
“We are excited to announce yet another massive shift in our ranks as we welcome new vocalist Christopher Shaner to the ICARUS WITCH circle and part ways amicably with original vocalist, Matthew Bizilia. Matthew’s contributions to the band have been immeasurable over the past six years. While this was a serious decision for both parties, professional differences of opinion led to the change. Bizilia is a phenomenal talent who will always be a part of the Witch family as we wish him much success on his future ventures.”
Incoming vocalist and Erie, Pennsylvania native Shaner is a long time friend and collaborator of guitarist Quinn Lukas. Before Quinn moved to Pittsburgh to join ICARUS WITCH in 2006, he had worked on various musical projects with the singer. Much like the recent acquisition of second guitarist Ed Skero, the choice to add Christopher to the band was based on a combination of what he brings to the lineup personally, musically and professionally. His powerful vocal range, sense of harmony and intense work ethic are a perfect fit for the next phase of this band. Writing for the follow-up to Draw Down The Moon has already commenced with the new recruits and it promises to be the band’s most diverse, melodic and epic release ever.
Friends of the ‘WITCH can get a taste of the new lineup as Christopher and Ed make their debut at Pittsburgh’s Hard Rock Cafe Friday, May 28th, where the band will be opening for Lizzy Borden. Also on the band’s itinerary are the Warriors Of Metal III Festival in Ohio this June, and some exciting tour news to follow in mere days.
Draw Down The Moon is now available for a limited time to stream in its entirety at: http://www.myspace.com/icaruswitch.
Upcoming ICARUS WITCH live appearances:

Third Album To Be Released Later This Year
Anthemic rockers Alter Bridge have today announced that they will be returning to the UK this October to tour the country once again in support of their forthcoming 3rd studio album (further details tba)
After a hugely successful UK tour in support of their stunning second album ‘Blackbird’ in November 2008, Alter Bridge – Myles Kennedy, Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall and Scott Philips have been busy. As well as writing a brand new album, they’ve also been pursuing individual projects – Myles has co-written and lent his incredible vocals to 2 tracks from the new album from ex-Guns N Roses Guitarist Slash, which has been met with huge acclaim from both fans and critics alike. Myles is also going to be joining Slash on tour as vocalist when the rock legend tours his new album this summer. Meanwhile, Tremonti, Marshall and Philips have reunited with ex band mate Scott Stapp to reform their previous band Creed and are touring the USA.
But with a brand new album to add to their spectacular arsenal, the band cannot wait to come back to the UK to wow fans up and down the country once again with their captivating blend of crowd pleasing, fist pumping anthems and raw, life affirming ballads. Speaking on the band’s October tour, Myles Kennedy had the following to say….
“We can’t wait to get back and share the new songs with our friends in the UK. It’s going to be a great run!”

If you are anxiously awaiting Ozzy Osbourne’s new CD “Scream” that is coming out this summer, I have a disc that you seriously need to look into. Hellfueled’s latest CD, “Emission of Sins” is packed full of kick-ass heavy riffs and hard rock that fans of Ozzy (and most hard rock) are going to enjoy. If Ozzy ever had a child out-of-wedlock, Andy Alkman would have to be it. Alkman sounds so much like Ozzy, it is scary.
Emission of Sins opens up with the hard chugging number”Where Angels Die”. This song sounds like a blend of Ozzy, and Black Label Society. This is a great way to start off on album. If this fiery rocker doesn’t grab your attention, nothing will.
If there was ever a song from Hellfueled that deserves radio play, “Am I Blind?” makes a strong statement. You probably won’t hear this heavy rocker in the United States, (unless you listen to Hard Rock Hideout Radio) and that is too bad. It ought to be cranked up and played on FM Rock stations every where. I love this tune!
Jocke Lundgren does a damn good Zakk Wylde impression on “I’m The Crucifix”. Lundgren has Wylde’s style down to a tee, including those pinch harmonics that many love (or hate) depending upon who you ask. This song shows the influence of Black Sabbath, and rocks hard!
Every time I listen to the song “A Remission of My Sins”, I hear something different. One thing is for certain, this song absolutely delivers. The pace oscillates between the mid tempo chorus, and super fast deep-toned guitar riffs that open the song. This could be the greatest song that Hellfueled has ever done. It is that good!
“End of the Road” and “In Anger” are two songs that have major radio potential. “End of the Road” is a heavy rocker, while “In Anger” has more of a modern rock feel to it.
The album closes out with an awesome instrumental track, “Moving On”.
It seems that Hellfueled gets better and better with every release and Emisson of Sins is easily their finest work to date. There is no official release date for this album in the United States as of yet, but you can purchase the mp3 download of Emission of Sins at this link. Check it out! You will be glad you did!
