If there has a been a hard rock CD that desperately needs to be reissued, Salty Dog’s Every Dog Has Its Day would have to be it. With such classics like “Come Along”, “Ring My Bell” and “Where The Sun Don’t Shine” this is a CD that still needs to be heard by all rock fans.
Amazingly, “Come Along” still gets airplay from my local rock station even today. This is an amazing feat for a relatively unknown band. After this kick ass single from Salty Dog, one might be quick to discount this band as another AC/DC clone, but if you dig deeper into this CD, you are going to hear the influences of other massive hard rock bands like Led Zeppelin, and Aerosmith.
Pete Reveen’s guitar work on this CD is excellent, and Jimmi Bleacher’s vocals are perfect for this style of rock. Both of these guys are musicians that I would like to hear perform again. Both Reveen and Bleacher have been missing from the rock world far too long. Reveen’s bluesy licks get better every time I listen to this CD.
Overall Every Dog Has Its Day has lots of excellent rock to feast your ears on. Even the slower tunes “Just Like A Woman” and “Sacrifice Me” are great on this disc.
I am a sucker for this old school bluesy hard rock, and I know a lot of you are too. If you are a fan of this genre, you need to seek this disc out. This CD was originally released by Geffen Records, but has sadly been out of print for years. You can sometimes find copies of it through Ebay, and Amazon.com. Grab this if you can find it! You won’t be disappointed!

Entitled “Facemelter” the new album
will be released on May 21st in Europe
Y&T, featuring original members Dave Meniketti (vocals and lead guitars) and Phil Kennemore (bass), along with longtime members John Nymann (guitar) and Mike Vanderhule (drums) have recorded their first studio album in 13 years, aptly titled “Facemelter” to be released in Europe on May 21st on Frontiers Records.
With a discography of 18 albums and three greatest hits collections, Y&T has sold over four million albums since their 1974 inception. The band has toured with numerous Rock icons including Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Mötley Crüe, receiving constant and extensive airplay with hits such as Forever, Rescue Me, Mean Streak, and Summertime Girls. Y&T songs have been featured in a multitude of movies and television shows, including Real Genius, Out of Bounds, Baywatch, and Hunter. After five US top 100 albums, songs that tipped into the 40s, two Bammie Awards, and many international television appearances, Y&T’s hits are still played nowadays on classic rock radio stations everywhere. Y&T’s high-energy music still captivates legions of fans around the globe, proving Y&T’s music timeless.
As the title indicates, Facemelter—the anticipated new recording—is a hard rockin’, song-oriented album that lives up to its name: it captures the band’s raw energy and tightness that they’ve become known for. Featuring heavy grooves, powerful guitars, and strong melodies, the band shows their versatility, delivering a range of high-energy rockers, mid-tempo head-bangers, modern rock grooves, majestic ballads, and signature Y&T rock anthems. To mark the return, the band engaged John Taylor Dismukes—the same artist who designed covers for Y&T’s classic albums “Mean Streak,” “Black Tiger” and “In Rock We Trust”—to create the amazing art of the new Facemelter.
“What a great feeling to dive back into making new Y&T music,” states Dave Meniketti. “After being away from it for this long, the anticipation of writing a new CD worth of material was, at first, a bit scary, but as soon as we started up I was happy to find how natural it was to get right back in it again. I think we’re going to have to keep this up, because musically and emotionally, we still have a lot to say!”
“It’s ridiculous that we waited so long to make a new record,” states Phil Kennemore. “In creating new music for Facemelter, I rediscovered the most important thing for any artist, and that is to continue creating . . . it feeds my soul. My hope for Facemelter is that people might just find a few new favorite Y&T songs.”
“We recorded together to capture as much of a live feel as possible which I feel is the strong point of the band,” adds Mike Vanderhule, while according to John Nymann, “The chemistry we have between us makes it so easy to develop ideas. Now that we are ignited with new material, I can’t wait to bring it to the stage.”
Face-melting is a term that has been with Y&T since the mid-’70s, when a rabid fan ran backstage and told the band, “you melted my face,” which inspired the group’s first publishing company: “Facemelting Music.”
If you haven’t yet taken Y&T’s new album for a ride, grab your leathers, strap yourself in, and prepare to have your face melted.
“Facemelter” includes the following tracks
Prelude, On With The Show; One Life; Shine On; Wild Child; I Want Your Money; I’m Coming Home, If You Want Me; Hot Shot; How Long; Gonna Go Blind; Don’t Bring me Down; Blind Patriot; Losing My Mind*
* Bonus track included on the first pressing in digipak

Empires of Eden is very proud to announce Mike Vescera as one of the feature artists on the upcoming album Reborn in Fire. Mike’s incredible voice has appeared on multiple albums for Yngwie Malmsteen and with Japanese metal giants Loudness. Mike is featured on a full length song on the album entitled ‘Of Light and Shadows’.
From guitarist Stu Marshall: “Being such a huge fan of Mike’s voice, I wanted to create an aggressive, dynamic song to match his style and attack. Add to that the huge influence of Yngwie Malmsteen and Akira Takahashi (Loudness) and the pressure was definitely on for me.”
Reborn in Fire, the new album from Empires of Eden features some of the world’s most respected heavy metal voices. Released by 7Hard, the album is slated to be on the shelves in June. Further announcements on the guests will continue in the coming weeks.
When settling in to listen to the new Crazy Lixx album, My Religion, I had an idea of what was in store for me but wasn’t fully expecting what I got. Upon the first few notes hitting my ears, I was immediately taken back to a time when music was great and big hair reigned supreme. Get out your Aqua Net and your spandex, folks; these Swedes are going to rock you like it’s 1987.
Although the throw back to the 80’s is right up my alley, there were qualities about it that didn’t always sit well with me. Don’t get me wrong, I love, love, love 80’s rock, but with current bands, I appreciate a little more
updated take on it. Taking influence from the bands of the 80’s is great; however, at times the influence was over-saturated on this album. For instance, “My Medicine” sounds like Poison and Def Leppard had a torrid love affair together and “My Medicine” was the result of that union. The similarities between this song and Poison and Def
Leppard are uncanny.
That being said, this album still rocks. Killer guitars and vocals set this off and make you bang your head. From hot chicks (“She’s Mine”) to staying young and having fun (“21 ‘Til I Die”), it’s got all elements of rock ‘n roll covered. Just to mix it up a little bit, they throw in “Desert Bloom,” a little bluesy interlude with some kick ass slide guitar. And don’t think for one second that Crazy Lixx will leave you without a ballad! No way! “What of Our Love” is a heart breaking, please come back to me love song that would make any girl rethink why she left.
If you’re feeling nostalgic for the good ol’ days, then put this in your MP3 player and crank it. My Religion doesn’t stray from the 80’s rock recipe at all, but it’s a solid recipe and Crazy Lixx has perfected it.
For more information on Crazy Lixx, check out the band’s myspace page. My Religion will be released in United States on April 20th. For those of you not wanting to wait, you can buy it from CD Inzane now!

Frontman and guitarist, Chris Babbitt is super excited at the prospect of the KISS tour, enthusing: “I still think my guys are fucking with me. Isn’t Ashton Kutcher supposed to punk only famous people? Not even in 100,000 years did I think we’d really be opening for KISS…especially after the third farewell tour! We’ve got our Love Gun locked and loaded, and can’t wait to strut the same stage as our heroes. This is such an honour it’s almost too overwhelming for words”.
