Classic Rock Magazine is reporting that the surviving members of Heaven And Hell will play Classic Rock’s High Voltage festival with special guest vocalists, as a tribute to their late front man Ronnie James Dio.
On May 16, Dio passed away and the world mourned the loss of the greatest voice of heavy metal.
Heaven And Hell were set to be on the road in Europe this summer when news came through that despite the amazing progress he was making Ronnie wouldn’t be well enough to tour and those shows were cancelled.
But now, remaining members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice are set to play a one-off show to celebrate Dio’s life and work at Classic Rock’s High Voltage festival.
The band will be completed by Glenn Hughes and Jorn Lande, who will both contribute vocals.
Former Deep Purple/Black Sabbath star Glenn Hughes was a close friend of Ronnie’s for many years and performed a musical tribute at Ronnie’s funeral service in Los Angeles.
Norwegian Jorn Lande is best known in the UK as the vocalist for power-metal band Masterplan; he has also released many solo albums including a tribute to Ronnie.
Heaven And Hell bassist Geezer Butler says:
“It’s going to be a very emotional occasion. Ronnie loved his fans like no one else I know – and they loved him. It will be a privilege doing a gig in honour of his memory, and to help towards his charity. Above all, I hope it encourages people to have regular check-ups for this disease. Early detection is vital, and greatly improves the chance of a cure. I know everyone has heard that a million times before, but seeing one of your best friends die because we all think we’re immune from this disease, really brings it home. Do it for yourself, your family, your friends. Ronnie would be proud of you.”
Guitarist Tony Iommi adds:
“Ronnie’s passing has left a huge hole, we hadn’t anywhere near finished what we set out to do as a band together. He was so looking forward to the European tour and we hope this appearance will go some way to fulfilling that.”
There follows details of the Ronnie James Dio ‘Stand Up And Shout’ Cancer Fund Programme:
* The fund is committed to the early detection and prevention of cancer through facilitating access to medical screening and medical educational programmes.
* The fund supports programs designed to integrate medical knowledge into local communities such as cancer screening programs, education on nutrition in cancer prevention, exercise and overall wellness.
* The goal of the fund is to reduce the risk of developing life threatening cancers by offering access to preventative medical services.
* Furthering the commitment for patients to access to quality medical care related to cancer, the fund seeks to assist families burdened by the cost of caring for loved ones with cancer.

DANZIG HITS THE ROAD
Special Nine City Tour to Usher in the Release of Deth Red Sabaoth Begins
Three In-Store Signings June 19, 21, and 24
DANZIG: DETH RED SABOTH
(The End Records; June 22)
Fans can also meet Glenn Danzig at three in-store autograph signings to be held around the tour, included Saturday June 19 at Vintage Vinyl in NJ, Monday, June 21 at Newbury Comics in Boston, MA, and Thursday, June 24 at Record Exchange in Boise, Idaho. See the tour itinerary below for more information.
Danzig plans to dig deep into his career-defining catalogue and perform tracks from Danzig, Lucifuge, How the Gods Kill, and on up to the present, including several new songs from Deth Red Sabaoth. “Danzig fans have their own favorites from throughout the years,” said Glenn, “and I hope the set list we put together will satisfy everyone.”
Deth Red Sabaoth, which marks Danzig’s ninth studio venture that began back in 1988 with the Rick Rubin-produced, Platinum-certified Danzig, is an 11-track collection penned by Danzig, and is laced with Glenn’s lycanthropic growls and blues-infected wailing. Tracks including “Black Candy, “The Revengeful,” and “On A Wicked Night,” emit a spectral glow to rival the highest points in Danzig’s colossal discography. Part I of the exquisite two-part “Pyre of Souls” opens with acoustic guitar, haunting piano, Glenn’s plainsong vocal, and an almost dirge-like feel; Part II explodes with electric guitars and a driving, mesmerizing cadence.
In addition to the upcoming Deth Red Sabaoth, Danzig has just published a book of select, previously unreleased Misfits, Danzig, and Samhaim lyrics, titled “Hidden Lyrics of the Left Hand” (Verotik). The book features illustrations by Simon Bisley, who has painted numerous album covers for Danzig and collaborated on many Verotik comic titles.
Glenn Danzig has received many titles, from the Godfather of Dark Metal to a punk pioneer to a man of integrity, but most agree that over his near-30-year career, his intense musical and lyrical statements have left a permanent mark on rock music. He is a gifted songwriter, and his songs have been covered by such diverse artists as Johnny Cash, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and Roy Orbison, just to name a few. His “13,” originally written for Johnny Cash and then recorded for Glenn’s own Satan’s Child, was the opening song in last year’s box office smash and Golden Globe winner, “The Hangover.” Danzig’s music is dark, gothic, and haunting, and continues to influence generation after generation of musicians and music fans across the globe.
Amazon is currently offering a FREE MP3 download of “On A Wicked Night,” get it here.

Emmy Award winning recording artist and Melodic Rock icon Stan Bush will release via Frontiers Records in Europe his brand new studio album entitled “Dream The Dream” on August 27th.
“Dream the Dream” is Stan Bush 11th studio album and is destined to set in stone the singer/songwriter artistic abilities and taste for writing and performing nothing but classy music. With powerful melodies that have made Stan a popular singer/performers in the melodic rock community, “Dream The Dream” is another gem that will please his old and newer fans. “We’ve been working on the new album for a year and a half, and I’m very happy with it” says Bush, “The last album, “In This Life” got great reviews and though we had to work really hard, I think we’ve got ourselves another amazing album. Some of the songs have a ‘go for it’ message, and some are about love, life and a search for meaning”.
Producer and guitarist Holger Fath again helped Stan shape his creativity even though songwriters on the album include, apart from Stan and Holger, Bobby Barth (Axe, Blackfoot), Curt Cuomo (KISS, Eddie Money), Ed Tree and Lenny Macaluso. “I was honored to again work with Holger Fath as producer/guitarist (and also keys)” tells Stan, ”I think he’s brilliant and he’s been a close friend for years. On drums, Matt Laug (Alice Cooper, Slash), is one of the best rock drummers in L.A. And on bass, Matt Bissonette (David Lee Roth, Rick Springfield) is incredibly solid”.
Apart from writing and recording albums, tracks from Stan’s previous albums have appeared in several major films. He won an Emmy Award in 1997 for Best Original Song. As a vocalist, Stan has sung on albums by established artists such as Alice Cooper and Jefferson Starship and has worked with many top producers (Ron Nevison, Giorgio Moroder, Andy Johns, Mick Jones, Desmond Child, Peter Frampton, Paul Stanley, Richie Zito). He has co-written with many of top songwriters like Jonathan Cain (Journey), Jim Vallance (Bryan Adams; Aerosmith), and Paul Stanley of KISS. Norwegian rockers Wild Side are back with a new guitarist, singer, and a CD that is sure to please fans of 80’s era hard rock. After a bizarre but short intro “Paranoia Circus” the band blasts into the hard rockin’ “Live Forever”. On “Live Forever” I immediately noticed the similarities in style between singer Joachim Berntsen and Motley Crue front man Vince Neil. Wild Side’s music is slightly heavier than modern-day Motley Crue, but Bernsten sounds as if he could be Vince’s little brother. His vocals are THAT similar. The guitar duo of Jon Aarseth & Tom Grana impressed me immediately. The solos on this song have to be heard to be believed. Aarseth’s playing reminds me of a young George Lynch. Very cool!
The opening whine of the guitars on on “Mine Tonight” reminds me a lot of early Stryper. This is a mid tempo number that is greatly enhanced by the excellent guitar work. This easily could have been an old Motley Crue track. I love it!
These aren’t the only stand out tunes either. “Need To Deliver”, “Wild One”, “Eagle” and the title track “Speed Devil” all rock hard!
Wild Side slows the pace down a little bit with the mid tempo song “Devil in Disguise”. This song shows me that the band can slow it down and still sound great without falling into that dreadful power ballad trap. Without surprise, a ballad does turn up later with the song “Love For You”. It is a surprisingly good song, with some good acoustic guitar work. I imagine that this song has to make folks break out the Zippo lighters during Wild Side’s live set.
Overall, I enjoyed Wild Side’s Speed Devil quite a bit, and believe it or not, I liked it better than Vince Neil’s latest affair, Tattoos & Tequila. Wild Side’s sound might not be completely original, but at least they are cranking out cool new hard rock and keeping the best era of rock alive and well! The guitar playing on this disc is excellent, and I bet fans of classic hard rock are going to love this. I know I did!

Kix practically stole the show at the M3 Rock Festival in 2009. Everyone who saw them perform live at the festival last year, thought they were easily one of the best bands on the bill.
