In 2010, SNEW released their sophomore effort, We Do What We Want. The title track “We Do What We Want” reminds me a lot of the classic Rhino Bucket song, “One Night Stand” from 1990. I like both bands, and both songs, but only can win. Which song & video do you like better? Watch both videos and decide with your vote below!

ALBUM IN STORES JANUARY 25, 2010 ON METALVILLE RECORDS
In early 2002, Swedish guitarist Joachim Nordlund and drummer Johan Lindstedt teamed up and decided to write some metal songs in the spirit of the old heroes Rainbow, Dio, Sabbath and Deep Purple. Nils Patrik Johansson, an old time friend with Johan, was asked to do the vocals in the project. Nils Patrik accepted the offer and ASTRAL DOORS was almost a reality.
Joachim asked his former band-mate Jocke Roberg, if he wanted to join, and a handshake later the band had a keyboardist. Martin Haglund from “Universal Puppies” was asked to fill in on the bass. However, in early 2003 Martin moved onto the guitar, to provide the band with a real dual guitar attack sound, and into the line-up came Mika Itaranta as bass player. ASTRAL DOORS was born…
They completed the recordings of their debut-album (mixed by Peter Tägtgren at Abyss Studio) and began working with Danish based metal-agency Intromental Management. Deals were locked down for “Of The Son And The Father”. The band caught immense media attention, with fantastic reviews everywhere, and various festivals were not late to book ASTRAL DOORS. The band performed at Wacken Open Air, Sweden Rock Festival and Decibel 2000 during the summer of 2004, gaining an impressive number of new fans.
Not resting on the laurels of their success, ASTRAL DOORS finalized their 2nd opus “Evil Is Forever” very quickly and the album was released by the same labels as the debut album. The release, which once again received amazing media and fan support, was followed by an extensive European tour as support act to German metal-gods Grave Digger, as well as several festival gigs in Sweden, and not to forget a successful gig in Germany with the hard rock princess herself, Doro Pesch.
After several released albums they wanted to show their whole wide range and decided to roll out their first Best of Album, which was arranged by the fans.
For fans and beginners the roundup of all favorite tracks will be released on January 25, 2011. The Best Of will be completed with the previously undisclosed song named Victory.
TESTAMENT of ROCK is the next step of ASTRAL DOORS history.
HEAVY ARTILLERY RECORDS in conjunction with APOCH’S METAL REVIEW are pleased to offer an exclusive stream of VOLTURE’s Shocking Its Prey, the six track debut which will be unleashed worldwide on CD January 25th 2011 and on limited edition Mini-LP February 15th.
Listen to the full exclusive stream of VOLTURE Shocking It’s Prey here:
With the humblest beginnings the seeds for VOLTURE were first laid in November 2008. Inspired by a mutual interest in obscure NWOBHM and early European heavy metal VOLTURE was born when friends Ryan Waste (of MUNICIPAL WASTE) and Nick Poulos over a few beers agreed to channel those mutual interests into a fully realized project. With Ryan and Nick, respectively, on bass and guitar they were soon joined by vocalist Brent Hubbard and drummer Barry Cover, who had previously worked with Ryan in 2003 in a band called IMMORTAL AVENGER. Throughout 2009, a demanding tour schedule with their other bands left the members of VOLTURE with minimal time to practice. In January 2010 the four piece entered a small studio in Ryan’s neighborhood to lay down the tracks for Shocking Its Prey, sans any modern studio trickery solely relying on capturing VOLTURE’s natural ability to unleash raw, unedited heavy metal fury.
Upon putting the finishing touches on Shocking Its Prey, VOLTURE welcomed to its ranks guitarist Dave Boyd, known for his work with heavy metal stalwarts TWISTED TOWER DIRE. With the line up in place and forthcoming mini lp, work on creating its own iconography begun by envisioning VOLTURE as an electric bird made of steel, shocking its prey to an untimely demise came into focus. This vision was brought to life by artist Sean McGrath and perfected in paint by the great Andrei Bouzikov, all under the direction of Ryan. With all of the creative pieces in place VOLTURE came to the attention of New York’s purveyors of steel, HEAVY ARTILLERY RECORDS, whom will release Shocking Its Prey in all of its glory world wide on January 25th, 2011.
With tour plans and a full length album on the horizon, the future is bright for VOLTURE as they shock the music world back to life with their brand of true heavy metal!

Break.com has released a funny new video featuring the band GWAR. Check out the video “Christmas Carols With Gwar” below!
Texas Hippie Coalition released their sophomore effort, Rollin’ in July. If there was any rock CD in 2010 that instantly had me wanting to down a beer and dive into a mosh pit, it was “Rollin”. This southern fried Metal effort is high energy, tough as nails metal that makes you feel like you can take on the world.
The first song I heard off of this CD was “Pissed Off and Mad About It”. I knew immediately after hearing this tune, that I had to buy this CD immediately. It may be the closest thing to a hit on “Rollin’”, but who cares. This kick ass tune is practically worth the price of admission all by itself. (Check it out in the video below!)
The CD starts off with the powerful rocker “Intervention”. Every time I listen to this song, I think Big Dad Ritch could easily be a stand in for Phil Anselmo. His screams are quite similar to Phil’s, and his voice reminds me of the former Pantera front man a lot.
“Groupie Girl” starts off with a cool southern rock vibe, and blast off into a heavy rocker that brings one of my old favorites Saigon Kick to mind. This is another cool tune that ought to get some radio play.
If you want a one-two punch that leave you wanting more, the closing songs “Back From Hell” and “Beg” will do just that. “Back From Hell” is a heavy tune that will rock your face off. The album closer “Beg” has some similarities to the Pantera song “This Love”. This is a cool heavy rocker to close the CD with!
While Texas Hippie Coalition’s sound may not be original, they most certainly rock. Rollin’ seems to get better every time I listen to it. If you are a fan of bands like HELLYEAH, Pantera or Black Label Society, you have to check out Rollin’.

ADLER’S APPETITE — the band led by former GUNS N’ ROSES drummer Steven Adler — will release two new singles on December 24 via iTunes. More information will be made available soon.
ADLER’S APPETITE entered the studio last month to begin recording its new album with CINDERELLA drummer Fred Coury producing.
The band recently released a new single, “Alive”. It is currently available on iTunes as well as via other online music stores. This is the first chance for fans to get the full version of the track.
A radio edit of “Alive” was released on July 29 in conjunction with Adler’s tell-all autobiography, “My Appetite for Destruction: Sex, and Drugs, and Guns N’ Roses”.
“The new songs are coming along great,” Adler previously stated. “After the response we got from performing ‘Alive’ all summer, we are really excited to put out more original music.”
“We are really excited to be moving forward with original material,” added ADLER’S APPETITE guitarist Alex Grossi (also of QUIET RIOT). “I think people are really going to like the direction we are going in.”
ADLER’S APPETITE’s current lineup is rounded out by guitarist Michael Thomas (FASTER PUSSYCAT), bassist Chip Z’nuff (ENUFF Z’NUFF) and vocalist Rick Stitch (LADYJACK).
It is not the success of the early days which Lenny Wolf associates Kingdom Come with, nor earlier hits from his long-standing career. What he really cares about is the present. Is this a contradiction in view of his new album Rendered Waters (out on 28 March 2011 in Europe, 25 March 2011 in Germany, and on 22 March 2011 in the US), which features eight old and three newly recorded songs? Certainly not. All eleven tracks were cut at Lenny’s Two Square Noise Factory studio in Hamburg, Germany. In particular, the new recordings of old material show Kingdom Come’s vision of living in the here and now. “I purposely chose tracks from the very early days to show how we play, hear and feel the songs nowadays,” says Wolf. “Listening habits have changed dramatically, especially among the younger audience, which made it exciting for me to breathe new life into numbers which have not been heard for a while.”
For example ‘Should I’, this time played more slowly giving it a heavier appeal. The drums are more open and the guitars, according to Lenny, feature a more tube-oriented sound and warmer, more driving tone: “Just to give it an overall 2011 vibe. Of course, you can only change songs to a certain extent if you don’t want to lose the character and central theme of the original version.” The same goes for ‘I’ve Been Trying’, ‘Pushing Hard’ and ‘Living Out Of Touch’. None of them has been reinvented, but all three certainly have a noticeably new approach to them. On the other hand, Lenny changed the verse of ‘I’ve Been Trying’ completely, giving it a different arrangement, just like he transported the song ‘Seventeen’ into the year 2011. “‘Seventeen’ has always been kind of a key song for Kingdom Come, yet it has never received much attention since it has a very non-commercial approach and is either loved or hated, but with the new version it will hopefully get the recognition it deserves.”
Another argument against suggestions that Lenny just wanted to warm up old material is that he purposely didn’t choose to re-record former hits like ‘Get It On’, ‘What Love Can Be’, ’Do you like it’ and ‘Twilight Cruiser’ which put Kingdom Come on the map on a global level. He even selected a song such as ‘Break Down The Wall’ from his pre-Kingdom Come days back in 1985 when he played with LA-based band Stone Fury, which just goes to show how timeless the material is. “It was very interesting to add new styles and to carry them into the year 2011. There are a number of songs from the Seventies. Their charm lives off the old recording technology which can’t be beaten these days and therefore should remain untouched, but re-recording Eighties songs isn’t such a sacrilege.”
Let’s not forget the three brand new songs, which feature that typical Kingdom Come structure of strong guitar hook lines and Wolf’s charismatic vocals. ‘Blue Trees’, ‘Is It Fair Enough’ and ‘Don’t Remember’ once again see Lenny prove his unwillingness to pander to expectations. Like it or not, he certainly follows his very own route. Although Lenny again recorded most of the instruments himself, Eric Förster, who contributed those ruthlessly driven guitar solos, and American-born Berlin resident Hanan Rubinstein, who mastered the CD, both certainly need to be mentioned for their great contribution.
To sum it up, here are a number of facts for history buffs: Kingdom Come were formed in 1987 in Los Angeles, USA. Besides Lenny, the only German in the group, there was also James Kottack, now playing drums with the Scorpions. The sensational debut Kingdom Come reached number 12 in the US charts, and its successor In Your Face made high chart positions all over the globe, too.
There is no end in sight. In Lenny’s words: “Kingdom Come is my calling. I either fall or rise with it. Apart from a few bad decisions, I’ve done alright. Thankful and still fully loaded, back to the future.”

It’s Geoff Thorpe’s story of power and pain. The quest to change people’s lives with the power of metal music and the fascination of his band in 2011. The guitarist and main songwriter of American power metal act VICIOUS RUMORS says: “The older we get, the more wicked VICIOUS RUMORS sound. We’ve definitely not slowed down – quite the opposite – have even more drive. Our fans won’t see a single VICIOUS RUMORS show where we don’t go to our limits and beyond.” Anybody who has been to one of the group’s gigs during the past two years knows just what he means. Thorpe’s comment not only describes his band’s concerts, but also without reservation VICIOUS RUMORS’ latest album “Razorback Killers”, due out on SPV on 28 March 2011 (Germany: 25 March 2011, US: April 5th.) and featuring ten breathtaking new songs which transport the traditional VICIOUS RUMORS sound perfectly into the present. To cut a long story short: this band has never sounded more dynamic than on “Razorback Killers”.
The reasons for VICIOUS RUMORS’ high-powered performance? Thorpe has a plausible explanation: “The metal is in our blood!!!! Plus we always have an awesome line-up. Larry Howe on drums and vocals, our bassist Stephen Goodwin and guitarist Kiyoshi Morgan, and in Brian Allen we’ve found the best vocalist you could possibly get for these kind of songs.” Brian Allen joined the VICIOUS RUMORS fold one and a half years ago at the recommendation of Matt McCourt (Wild Dogs), a long time friend who Thorpe met up with at the Headbangers Open Air. “Matt had praised Brian, and I thought that he’d be perfect forVICIOUS RUMORS.” His assessment soon proved true: from the beginning, Allen showed his great potential during intense rehearsals. “We immediately noticed this raw, pure quality in him. Like a snowball, something very big developed very quickly out of small beginnings. During our five-week European tour, Brian got nothing but positive reactions from our fans.”
So Brian Allen and Kiyoshi Morgan are – along with Thorpe, Bassist Stephen Goodwin and drummer Larry Howe, of course – two of the elemental parameters which make “Razorback Killers” such a dynamic powerhouse of an album. Three other musicians deserve to be mentioned: the guest guitarists Mark McGee, Eric Peterson and Brad Gillis. “Isn’t it fantastic that Mark returned and contributed those amazing solos on two songs?” McGee was a band member between 1986 and 1995 and has launched veritable guitar solos on ‘Blood Stained Sunday’ and ‘Pearl Of Wisdom’. “Mark and I trading solos just like the old days,” enthuses Thorpe, who also can’t hold back his delight at Eric Peterson’s impassioned solo passages on ‘Murderball’. “Eric has been a friend for many years and is the driving force in Testament. His solo on ‘Murderball’ is a perfect combination of the whole energy of VICIOUS RUMORS and Testament, merged into one song.” And last but not least: Brad Gillis, who otherwise makes his living as one of the band leaders in Night Ranger, is one of Geoff Thorpe’s close friends and already delivered a number of great solos on VICIOUS RUMORS’ predecessor album, “Warball”. This time around, Gillis contributed a matchless – as Thorpe calls it – “classic tremolo guitar solo” on ‘Deal With The Devil’. “I remember well when he replaced the late Randy Rhoads in Ozzy Osbourne’s band. Brad has my utmost respect as a friend and colleague.”
So the furious “Razorback Killers” marks the next chapter in the career of VICIOUS RUMORS, whose history is paved with countless highlights: the band took the legendary Dynamo Festival in Eindhoven, Netherlands, by storm with their amazing shows in the summers of 1990 and 1994, floored the 2002 Wacken Open Air, rocked the metal fans at the 2007 Bang Your Head Festival and are celebrated frenetically all over the world for their passionate live performances. VICIOUS RUMORS have released ten excellent power metal albums to date, travelled the world over a dozen times – with Metallica, Mötley Crüe, Judas Priest, Aerosmith and many others – and are now ready to present their latest recording to their fans. “We’ll be co- headlining the Keep It True festival in April 2011, one month after the album is released,” Thorpe promises. “We’ll be touring for the rest of the year in the USA, Europe and Japan, hopefully also visiting countries such as South America or Australia, where we’ve never been before.” “Razorback Killers” produced by Geoff Thorpe and Juan Urteaga certainly has the potential!

It blows my mind to think that Alice Cooper has been ignored by the Rock and Roll Hall of (Shame) Fame for so many years. Finally, in 2010, Alice Cooper & his original band of Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith, Mike Bruce, and the late Glenn Buxton were confirmed to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
In my opinion it is long over due!

Southern California thrashers ATTACKHEAD have revealed the artwork and the track-listing for their new album “Voices in the Dark – Second Attack”. The album will be released January 25, 2011 via Twisted Hillbilly Records.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Mark Chapman had the following to say about the new release from ATTACKHEAD:
“We had a great time recording the CD back in Tennessee. We wanted to create a CD that was pure old school thrash reminiscent of the 80′s era. If you are looking for some straight forward thrash then this is the CD for you.”
2) Voices in the Dark
5) Make Me Suffer
6) Lead the Blind
9) Dark Ritual
10) Waste of Life
When the powerhouse Southern California based thrash metal band ATTACKHEAD comprised of Mark Chapman (lead vocals, lead guitar), George Portoulas (lead guitar, backing vocals), Steve Cordero (drums) and Eddie “Munster” Ellis (bass, backing vocals), put out the original version of “Voices in the Dark” back in February 2008, its songs received airplay on over 50 terrestrial and Internet stations worldwide, from the UK, Canada, Belgium and Greece to Mexico, Germany and Argentina. Attackhead’s intense playing and dark themes have led to sponsorships by Spider Energy Drink, Tsunami Cables, Coffin Case, Fernandes Guitars and Jim Dunlop. Attackhead won Best Artist at the 2010 Street Official Music Awards held in Upland, CA.
Wider distribution of “Voices in the Dark” was a problem, however, until Knoxville, Tennessee based Twisted Hillbilly Records took an interest and funded a higher budget re-recorded version with two new tracks and all new artwork and packaging. Twisted Hillbilly Records is an offshoot of the Twisted Hillbilly magazine series’ metal edition. When the magazine did a short but positive review of the original Voices in the Dark, Chapman began talking to label owner Moe Hillbilly, who offered to sign the band for a brand new recording. ATTACKHEAD opted first to take a better crack at the one they had. Working with a crew of veteran engineers, the band retreated to a studio cabin in the woods and emerged with an explosive CD, which fits perfectly in the groove alongside recent hit projects by legends like Testament, Slayer and Megadeth. The band’s trademark is the fiery interplay and seamless mix between the electric guitars of Chapman and Portoulas, the fast hands of drummer Steve Cordero and the crushing grooves of bassist Eddie “Munster” Ellis.
Chapman, the only original member still with the band, formed ATTACKHEAD in Orange County, California in late 2002 with a simple mission to “play good, solid, tight music and have a good time doing it”. That mission has been fulfilled working with various members, including, at one point a female singer (who fronted ATTACKHEAD on their 2004 album “Destruction and Pain”). ATTACKHEAD has figured out a very unique approach to playing live gigs over the past few years. Rather than continue playing small local clubs to 20-30 friends, ATTACKHEAD has achieved great success playing military shows throughout the Western United States.
Over the past year, ATTACKHEAD has performed numerous times at Ft. Irwin National Training Center, U.S. Naval base, Ventura County, the Marine Base at 29 Palms and the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, AZ, in addition to the Ontario, CA USO. Aside from giving back to the troops, ATTACKHEAD reaches hundreds of men and women ages 18-25 who will no doubt share the good news of the group with their fellow servicemen and women at their next posts. They are supporters of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the Wounded Warrior Project, as well as the Melanoma Research Foundation, and pass out pamphlets for these organizations at their shows.

Beginning Jan. 17th, Hard Rock Nights will begin airing a new, 3-hour show Monday thru Saturday on KARL Radio based out of Los Angeles. The Monday thru Friday shows will feature original programming each night, and the Saturday show will serve as a recap show highlighting the best music of the previous week.
Hard Rock Nights is a 2 hour weekly syndicated radio program, hosted by Brian Basher, that currently airs on 20+ affiliates and in 3 countries and can be heard approximately 25 times a week. Participating stations and show times can be found at http://hardrocknights.com/affiliates/ .
Since it first hit the airwaves in August 2008 on WMWX-FM in Cincinnati, through its move to syndication in 2009,. Hard Rock Nights has strived to give its listeners the best hard rock show possible each and every week. Following a slight format change and a new host in 2010, the syndicated radio show plans to take that goal a step further heading into 2011.
Hard Rock Nights owner and host Brian Basher had this to say about the show. “Having a 2 hour weekly show is great for introducing our listeners to various new bands, but it doesn’t really give the listeners a chance to become familiar with those bands because the play-list changes so much from week to week. With a nightly show we’ll be able to introduce the bands to listeners around the world and give them a chance to really become familiar with a band and their music on a consistent basis.”
Basher continues, “I’m grateful and thrilled that the staff at KARL Radio have enjoyed what we’ve been trying to accomplish with Hard Rock Nights week-in and week-out, and I am thankful for the opportunity they have offered us to take Hard Rock Nights to the next level.”
While the initial nightly episodes of Hard Rock Nights will be broadcast on KARL Radio other stations, both internet and terrestrial are invited to contact Brian Basher in regards to carrying Hard Rock Nights – either the weekly or nightly broadcasts.
KARL Radio is an internet radio station based out of Los Angeles that offers its listeners a wide variety of programming on a daily basis and can be heard at the following link http://www.showbizbroadcasting.com/
I have been saving up a good rant for Mr. Vince Neil since his performance at M3 in Baltimore last June. I decided to let it go unless he does something truly stupid again. I try to give Vince Neil the benefit of the doubt. I do this as Motley Crue has long been one of my favorite bands. Unlucky for me, Vince Neil is an easy target, and his random stupidity seems to be happening much more frequently as of late. I find it impossible not to talk about Vince, or his recent behavior. After my friend Kenny Ozz posted the video below on facebook, I felt inspired to post my previously averted rant.
Last June, I looked forward to seeing Vince Neil’s solo band at M3. The whole day at M3 was super hot but overall it was a great time. All of the band’s were starting on time, which allowed fans to take in bands at both stages. Then Vince Neil’s set started late and screwed up the rest of the schedule at M3. Vince Neil was so BAD at M3 that many people migrated over to the second stage to watch Nelson perform. To me, it honestly sounded like the band didn’t rehearse before their performance. Once again, Vince forgot half his lyrics, YES the same Motley Crue lyrics that he jibber jabbers through at most of the Motley Crue shows.
It wasn’t much longer after M3, that Vince Neil got busted for a DUI.
Learning this news truly pissed me off. You would think Mr. Neil would have learned something after he killed Hanoi Rocks drummer Razzle in a drunken driving accident in 1984. I guess the memory of this accident is in the same place in his brain as Motley Crue’s lyrics. December 8th was the anniversary of Razzle’s death, and clearly Vince has no remorse over this accident.
After a little bit of digging, I discovered that he has also been nailed for a DUI in 2007. You can view the mug shots courtesy of The Smoking Gun below.
If you look at the picture of Vince I took at M3 (below), you will notice that he is wearing the same necklace in his 2010 mugshot.
In the video below, he is clearly inebriated and is showing getting behind the wheel of a car.
Clearly, Vince Neil has a problem with alcoholism, and has no common sense to not get in a car and drive when drinks. If you live in Las Vegas, beware, the next person Vince kills could be you! I am really disgusted with Vince Neil. He can’t sing his songs live, and clearly has no conscience when it comes to drinking and driving. In 2010, He ice skates about as good as he sings. He is making a mockery out of Motley Crue, with all of his shoddy performances. Motley Crue could be a mega band, but with Vince Neil as a singer, they never will be. I believe everyone deserves a second chance, but Vince has had countless chances to get his shit together.
The average person knows better than to not drink and drive. Vince Neil has previously been charged we vehicular manslaughter, and still continues to drink and drive. Why does the judicial system keep letting Vince Neil get off free? How many more people does he have to hurt or kill, before they will take note of his indiscretions?
Once upon a time, Vince Neil even did a Service Announcement for Drinking and Driving (See below). He must have forgotten about this too.
It is clearly time for Vince Neil to lose his license and hire a driver. If he can’t get his act together, it may be time to for Motley Crue to hunt down a new singer. I hear John Corabi is available.
