THE DONNAS TO BE FIRST ACT SIGNED TO CROWDBANDS
Innovative Start-up will Empower Members to Make Creative Decisions for Bands and Overall Direction of the Company
The Donnas have built a rabid group of followers in the years since their 1993 founding, and starting this year, their fans and thousands of others will have a say in their next album, thanks to a partnership with Crowdbands (www.crowdbands.com), an innovative new start-up.
“We’ve done the major labels… we’ve done the independent labels… now it’s time for us to do the fan-driven label,” said Allison Robertson, Brett Anderson and Maya Ford of The Donnas. “Our fans have inspired us through the years, and exposed us to new music that’s influenced what we’ve done. We’re excited to take that to the next level and let them inside the making of our next album.”
Crowdbands is the first online community to empower members to run the company through a democratic voting process regarding corporate and band presentation and marketing decisions. Crowdbands is taking a world-renowned act that has already proved their commercial viability and sharing the experience of guiding the creative process from writing and recording to promoting and touring with their closest 10,000 fans around the world.
Here’s how Crowdbands works: members will make decisions with the rest of the Crowdbands community regarding the next album by The Donnas as it is recorded. Decisions might include things such as which single to release, possible cover art ideas, where to go on tour and more. Members will also receive the album before it is released to the public and get exclusive access to VIP content and events with the band.
