I have been anxious to hear new Warrant music, with Robert Mason on vocals ever since I first saw them play live with Mason singing back in 2009.
When the band debuted a couple of their new songs at the M3 Rock Festival in 2010, I knew we were going to have another cool Warrant album on our hands before long.
With no surprise, Rockaholic has exceeded my expectations by far.
There are several great tunes on Rockaholic, and way too many to talk about individually. The songs that are amongst my favorites are “Sex Ain’t Love”, “Dusty’s Revenge”, Life’s A Song”,”Show Must Go On” and “The Last Straw”.
This is easily Warrant’s strongest album since Dog Eat Dog, and surpasses the previous effort Born Again with Jamie St. James by a mile!
Robert Mason is a fantastic vocalist, and some may argue, “Yeah, but he ain’t Jani Lane”, but quite honestly, I think he is a better hard rock singer overall. That isn’t a dig against Jani, I like him a lot too. I believe Robert Mason has the voice that is going to keep Warrant around for many more years. Rockaholic is great beginning to the Robert Mason era of Warrant, and is a CD you should be checking out!

Adelitas Way and MTV2 have premiered the official video for, “Sick,” the first single off the band’s upcoming sophomore album, Home School Valedictorian. It might be too easy to say the band gives a “sick” performance, but when you mix hard rock guitar riffs with a powerful vocal delivery and combine that with a set filled with burning objects in the middle of a long tunnel, you get that extra punch in this video. “Sick” is available now on iTunes.
For more information on Adelitas Way, make sure to check on the band’s official website, www.adelitaswayrock.com, as well as their Facebook and Twitter pages. Look for Home School Valedictorian in stores and online everything June 7th. In the meantime, fans can preview the entire album through the official YouTube Album Sampler.
When Faster Pussycat released their 2006 CD, The Power and the Glory Hole, I was less than impressed by the band’s move to their industrial twinged sleaze. Judging from the sounds on Priscilla’s latest effort, Eight Lives Gone, Faster Pussycat could have learned a thing or two from Priscilla. They simply do it better.
Singer Brad Slitt has composed an album full of sleazy good rockers, that are a lot of fun to listen to.
One of my favorites is the hard rockin’ title track, “Eight Lives Gone”. I can only imagine the electricity the band brings to the stage with this tune.
I can imagine the lighters swaying back and forth on the hair ballad “Fade Away”. While this song is good, the drum track kind of takes away what could have been one of the finer moments on this CD.
Powered by kick ass tunes like “High Tonight”, “High Fashion” and “Six Six Sex”, Eight Lives Gone offers up a guttural attack on the senses that I won’t soon forget.
The production qualities of Eight Lives Gone could have been a lot better, but this is still a pretty good CD overall. Ohio may not be a hot bed for sleaze rock, but Priscilla certainly gives me hope for a rekindled music scene that is long overdue for some new excitement. Check out Eight Lives Gone for some sleazy good rock!

Metal Blade Records signs European deal with L.A. Hard Rockers DC4 feat. Jeff Duncan of Armored Saint and former DIO guitarist Rowan Robertson!
Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of the L.A. Hard Rockers DC4!
Forming as the 21st Century became a reality DC4 came to be when Jeff Duncan met Rowan Robertson, the band’s musical pedigree is virtually unrivaled by their peers. “Jeff and I met when a local promoter named Happenin’ Harry asked us both to be in his backing back for a few shows in the LA area and in Chicago,” relates Robertson. “When we got back to LA he just flat out asked if I wanted to join DC4 and we got along so well and played so great together that I just had to do it.”
Jeff recalls that “I wasn’t into the whole idea of auditioning guitarists, We would know the right one when he came long and that’s exactly what happened. He was looking for the sort of situation we had to offer and as it turned out, we were looking for him!”
Having spent time in such bands as the legendary Dio, metal heroes Armored Saint, the short lived Violet’s Demise and Odin, a band who had reached cult status by the end of the 1980’s without ever leaving Hollywood, DC4 is much more than just your average hard rock act.
The band members of DC4 comment on the signing to Metal Blade as follows:
“Its an honor to be on Metal Blade records! I feel that we made a very honest and powerful record and to have it released by a label that shares our love for hard music is a blessing!” Rowan Robertson
”I am thrilled and honored beyond belief! I have been in the Metal Blade family as a member of Armored Saint for most of my career so to have DC4 welcomed into the fold is about as good as it gets!” Jeff Duncan
Jeff Duncan – Lead vocals, guitars,
Rowan Robertson – Guitars
Matt Duncan – Bass
Shawn Duncan – Drums, percussion
DC4 will release their third longplayer ‘Electric Ministry’ in the summer via Metal Blade Records Europe. More news and updates on the album to follow soon!
Below are some of the shots we took of Jetboy’s performance at the M3 Rock Festival. Enjoy!!
For the second year in a row (and third M3 overall), Jetboy kicked off the M3 Music Festival in style. With a brand new lead singer in tow, there were several question marks about how their performance would go over. However, the question marks came from the fans and not the band. The band always knew how great their live
performance was going to be. Then Jetboy went onstage and proved it to the rest of the hard rock world.
Last year, Jetboy was one of the most underrated bands on the M3 bill. Their noon performance kicked off the 2010 M3 Festival in style and they had one of the best live performances. This year was no different. Despite the fact that Mickey Finn is no longer in the band, new lead vocalist, DK Revelle squashed any concerns that fans may have had about Jetboy with a new lead singer.
The band stormed the stage on Friday night with ferocious energy, ready to rock. The Kix-Off party found the Merriweather Post Pavilion pretty full by the 7:00 PM start time. While fans were still filtering in, most had found their seats (or spots on the lawn) when Jetboy took to the stage. And they came out with the force of a tsunami. Their high energy, hard rock filled performance was one to be remembered. DK Revelle’s impact was immediately felt.
DK’s vocal style is considerably different from Mickey Finn’s, but not in a negative manner. The gravelly, growly, singing style fits in perfectly with Jetboy’s sleaze rock sound. While fans may have been wondering where Finn was at the start of the first song, by the end of that song, their attention had changed. No longer were they focused on Mickey Finn. They were now asking the more appropriate question. Who is this DK Revelle? Simply stated, he was amazing.
The band behind him was typical Jetboy, but with a new found love for live performances. The addition of Revelle has helped the band gel in the live setting and finds the boys having more fun than they have in years. Sometimes a personnel change will do that. In the case of Jetboy, it has done it well.
Revelle filled in the lead vocalist role with ease. Coming off a tour of Europe, the band had time to bond and feel each other out on stage. While at times it was noticeable that DK is still finding his groove as the lead singer of Jetboy, their live performance receives a high passing grade.
While on the road, the band had time to write some new material. Two new songs were performed for the M3 crowd. The first, “Strip Down,” is a four beat, blues style, sleaze rock song that sounded amazing. If this song was available on a record, I would have bought it that night. This could be the best Jetboy song I’ve ever heard, and that includes “Feel The Shake.”
The second new song that the band graced us with was “Little Miss Sin Eater.” This song was equally as brilliant and performed in the similar fun, sleazy, Jetboy style. Hearing both of these songs live has me yearning for a new Jetboy album. Hopefully there were some record executives in the crowd that felt the same way.
The band closed their tight 30-minute set with their best known tune, “Feel The Shake.” DK was able to take the hit single and make it his own. It’s obvious that he was into the song as much as his band mates. “Feel The Shake” was performed with passion and the fans responded in kind, singing along as loud as they could.
At the end of their set, Jetboy received a well-deserved rousing ovation, and most of the fans had forgotten about the band’s past. They were more focused on the band’s future. And with the addition of new lead singer DK Revelle, some exceptional new songs, and a brand new attitude, the future for Jetboy is something the fans should be focused on.

Former Hanoi Rocks front man Michael Monroe is back with his sixth solo album, Sensory Overdrive.
On his latest CD, Michael has assembled an all-star band to help craft his new tunes. The lineup on this CD features Ginger from the Wildhearts on Guitar, Sammi Yaffa from Hanoi Rocks, Jetboy and the New York Dolls on bass, and Steve Conte from the New York Dolls on guitar. He also has a couple of cool guest stars with Lucinda Williams and Lemmy Kilmister adding some vocals too.
Sensory Overdrive is a little short in length. The eleven songs on Sensory Overdrive clock in just shy of 33 minutes. For most releases that would be a problem, but on this CD you get a bunch of short rockin’ tunes that never fail to entertain.
I don’t if Ginger’s song writing help inspire Michael Monroe on this album, but the songs on this CD are mostly upbeat, and overall, a lot of fun to listen to.
Chances are you have heard the first single “’78” by now. (If not check it out in the video below). This song is an extremely catchy number that is going please the legion of Michael Monroe & Hanoi Rocks fans out there.
I don’t know what it is about “Got Blood?” that makes me think it would be a good T.V. Show theme song. It is a good tune, but it has that kind of vibe.
“Superpowered Superfly” sounds pretty ridiculous lyrically, but this song is pretty infectious.
“Modern Day Miracle” with its chorus, “Shut up, Stop Talking, Shut up, Stop Talking, You’re Giving Me A Headache” is such a fun tune. I would love to sing this song to some people I know. :)
“Gone Baby Gone” with Lucinda Williams has a country rock feel to it, in the vein of the Eagles. This song works well, and is one of the many highlights on Sensory Overdrive
You would think Michael Monroe’s punk edge rock would be a very good fit for Lemmy Kilmister’s voice, but the marriage of Michael Monroe’s voice with Lemmy’s on “Debauchery As a Fine Art” just doesn’t work for me. It isn’t a bad tune, it is actually pretty fun, but it is nowhere near as good as the rest of the material on Sensory Overdrive.
I have been blasting Sensory Overdrive in my car for nearly a month before writing this review, and it was all I could do to get myself to pull it out of my player. I have been enjoying this disc immensely! This CD will be one of the mainstays of my play list all summer long.
Sensory Overdrive is easily one of the best releases of 2011, and should be sought out by everyone.

The time has come: In September EDGUY, one of Germany‘s biggest internationally acclaimed guitar driven bands in recent music history will set out on the road again in support of their forthcoming album “Age Of The Joker“ (worldwide release in August 2011). What is going to be EDGUY‘s 9th studio effort will also mark the band‘s first ‘real‘ album in almost three years; three years in which the band has toured Europe, Asia, Australia, North-, Central- and South America. And it‘s been the activities in those years that had a determining influence on forthcoming tour plans:
After last year‘s chart-breaking collaboration between EDGUY vocalist Tobias Sammet and Klaus Meine of the SCORPIONS in “AVANTASIA“ and EDGUY‘s successful arena tour as the SCORPIONS´ Special Guest, now it‘s time for another ‘family internal‘ constellation to kick ass: “KOTTAK“ (the band fronted by legendary SCORPIONS drummer James Kottak) will be supporting EDGUY during the European leg of the tour.
The full set from Jane’s Addiction’s special performance at last night’s Google I/O After Hours party has been made available online by YouTube; you can view the concert in HD here http://youtu.be/qHZGdfZ-mZo?hd=1. The 42-minute set consisted of classic Jane’s tracks, as well as “End To The Lies” from the band’s forthcoming new album ‘The Great Escape Artist‘, which is due out this August through Capitol Records.
For The Great Escape Artist, Jane’s Addiction is working with producer Rich Costey (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol) and TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek. Sitek, who is best known for his production work on TV on the Radio and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, is writing, programming, and playing bass on the album. When Jane’s Addiction hits the road this summer, they will have Chris Chaney handling bass duties.Jane’s Addiction on the web:
Steven Tyler made a rare stop to appear with old friend and fellow rock icon Nikki Sixx on Sixx Sense with Nikki Sixx for an intimate conversation broadcast last night. Tyler gave Sixx his first in depth radio interview — connecting on a personal level about their common goal of finding and breaking new artists, Tyler through his role as a judge on American Idol and Sixx as host of the radio show syndicated to over 70 alternative and mainstream rock stations by Premiere Networks. In a deep and personal interview, Tyler sat down with Sixx to talk about his new autobiography, “Does The Noise In My Head Bother You?,” becoming a judge on American Idol, his new single (his first US solo single ever) “(It) Feels So Good” and to catch up on lives well lived. Both icons of rock can boast a literal return from the dead to now being on top of the world.
“We got to really talk about how important it is to give young artists a shot,” said Sixx, who leads by example. “The audience is dying for new rock stars and Steven and I are using our new positions in the media to introduce the future of the music industry,” he continued. Hear their conversation on www.sixxsense.com.
Unlike the years that Aerosmith and Motley Crue spent together on tour, recording albums in the same studio and coming up through the clubs, talent is now discovered differently and these two heroes of rock are committed to finding the artists with quality of content.
Sixx Sense just celebrated a year on the air and is complemented by The Side Show Countdown With Nikki Sixx, which airs on the weekends. The daily program, Sixx Sense airs at 7pm local time Monday-Friday. Both radio shows as well as American Idol offer a platform to discover and deliver new music on the modern launching pads of mainstream television and radio. Sixx Sense can also be heard on its own SiriusXM Satellite Radio channel airing 24/7 on XM 161, Sixx Sense With Nikki Sixx (sixxsense.com) and on the Sixx Sense with Nikki Sixx channel on Clear Channel Radio’s digital platform iheartradio.
Each night on Sixx Sense, international rock icon, founder/bassist/songwriter of the world-renowned band Motley Crue and chart-topping band Sixx:A.M., New York Times best-selling author, clothing designer, philanthropist and photographer Nikki Sixx discusses music and lifestyle topics as he gives friend, rockers and other personalities a comfortable setting to talk openly about anything and everything with the audience listening in. Sixx is also incredibly active on his social networks, engaging with fans thru twitter, Facebook and his website. (For more information, please visit www.sixxsense.com. Fans can also follow Sixx on Twitter (http://twitter.com/NikkiSixx) and Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nikki-Sixx/96943760335). The show’s become the place to hear it first for guests from all walks of life, including rock royalty, the first man on the moon, authors, actors and everyone in between. Dave Grohl, Jared Leto, Lemmy Kilmister, Perez Hilton, Rob Halford, CSI creator Anthony Zuiker, Four Agreements author Don Miguel Ruiz, Dog The Bounty Hunter and others.
Sixx Sense has become the go to destination for special musical announcements including the launch of OZZFest, on site broadcasts (Rock on the Range), album premieres and specials — Slash recorded a special track by track breakdown with Sixx. Sixx Sense is a must stop for announcements of all kinds.
Check out the new Soulmotor (featuring Tesla’s Brian Wheat) video, “Down in Mexico” below. Like what you hear? You can download the song for free at this link.
This video is a raw and emotional tribute to Avenged Sevenfold’s late drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan and celebrates the long-time friendship the band members have shared since forming A7X in Huntington Beach, CA, in 1999. The video was directed by Wayne Isham, who has directed videos for such artists as Metallica, Mötley Crüe, Megadeth, and Def Leppard, among many others. The heartfelt quality of the video is in keeping with the emotional resonance of the song, a very personal goodbye to Sullivan that appears on the band’s album Nightmare.
The Answer will soon be released a new CD/DVD package called 412 Days of Rock ‘N’ Roll. It will be released in the UK on May 30th, and will follow in Europe within a week or so of that, dates will vary slightly from country to country. The dvd will have – a 70 minute film of life on the road during the AC/DC tour and beyond – A 55 min live set which was shot in America, Spain and Belfast – And all the bands previous promo videos and a new video for “Rock N Roll Outlaw”, which was edited together from on the road footage. The cd has live reordings from the tour and two new recordings, “Rock N’ Roll Outlaw”, which is a Rose Tattoo cover, and a new song called “Fooled Me”. Angry Anderson had this to say about the cover of “Rock N’ Roll Outlaw”:
“Its sacred ground for us, but hearing The Answer play it brought a lump to my throat… not only a killer version but they make it their own… well done lads, you do us proud”.

Swedish Glammetallers SISTER premiere second single and new video clip featuring clips of each track off “Hated” on Revolver Magazine’s site!
Be sure to head over to Revolver Magazine as the site premieres the second single, Bullshit and Backstabbing, off Swedish sleaze and punk influenced metal band SISTER’s upcoming album HATED (out June 3/6 in Europe). The magazine is also premiering the latest teaser video for SISTER that features clips of all tracks off the upcoming release to give metalheads worldwide a taste of what’s to come on the band’s Metal Blade debut. Check out the new single Bullshit and Backstabbing and the video clip HERE.
The band comments on the new single Bullshit and Backstabbing: “Pretty much all of our songs takes form in the rehearsal and Bullshit and Backstabbing was no exception. It’s a song with an ‘up yours’ mentality and fits us as a band perfectly. It’s a fast track compared to the title track and we knew right from the start that this was goin’ to be one of the band’s favorite songs on the album. When we took it into the studio it really turned out exactly the way we wanted it to and working together with Martin Sweet (Crashdïet) and Calle Fäldt (Deranged) was really the best way we could have done for this album. Recording the guitars and bass in the studio in Staffanstorp in the southern part of Sweden and vocals in Sweet’s studio in Stockholm gave us the possibility to focus on the right things while recording; a lot of stress because of a really tight schedule, but with a result that turned out really fucking great!”
Fans still have the chance to preorder HATED at a special low price only available before street date. Go HERE for info.
I don’t get anywhere near enough time to read in 2011, but when I do, I love to read rock biographies. They often provide an interesting, behind the scenes look of the careers of the bands I have followed for decades.
RATT drummer, Bobby Blotzer needs no introduction to the readers of this site. He has been one of my favorite drummers for as long as I have been listening to RATT. I first saw him play back in 1986 with RATT, and have never forgotten that show. I could not resist picking up his new book.
His book, Tales of a RATT: Things You Shouldn’t Know is a pretty good read. Some of the stories in this book are laugh out loud funny. Literally no one is safe in this book. Want the behind the scenes dirt on RATT? It is in there. Want to read some good stories that include Don Dokken, Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, Blackie Lawless, Keith Richards, Ozzy Osbourne, Matthias Jabs, Steven Tyler and more? It is in there too!
“Blotz” doesn’t hold back any punches, and gives a interesting, and sometimes not so nice look on many of the musicians we have all loved. In his defense, he doesn’t exactly paint himself as an angel either. I am glad he took the time to tell the stories that no one in else in RATT has.
My only real issue with this book is that the stories tend to bounce around, and the editing job could have been a lot better. I have found some infrequent misspellings amongst other errors. The average editing job really wasn’t enough of a distraction to keep me from enjoying this book.
If you are a fan of RATT, and have read and enjoyed the biographies, The Dirt, or Slash, you will likely enjoy Tales of a RATT. (If you like to download your books, this book is now available on the Kindle!) Check it out!!

I stumbled upon this Jacksonville, Florida based band Gasoline 67 by accident last night, and thought their songs were pretty cool. Check out their video clips, “Life’s A Bitch”, and “High Heels and Lipstick”. If you like what you hear, you can download their Time To Rock EP off of iTunes at this link.
TESLA is releasing a new album titled “TWISTED WIRES & the acoustic sessions…” this July of 2011. The self produced album of 12 songs features two new unreleased songs called “Second Street”, and “Better Off Without You”, as well as never before heard recordings of the last acoustic studio sessions with former original guitarist Tommy Skeoch from 2005.
The aptly titled album is not only called “TWISTED WIRES & the acoustic sessions…” for the way Tesla has always seemed to seamlessly blend acoustic and electric guitar sounds in their music, but is also descriptive of the bands continuous and tumultuous ride over the past 25 years, overcoming the ups and downs of rock and roll.
From the band that sparked the “unplugged” craze of the 90’s with “5 Man Acoustic Jam”, and the radical electric guitar riffs of “Modern Day Cowboy” featured on the latest Guitar Hero game, now comes “TWISTED WIRES & the acoustic sessions…” a creative mix of past and present, as well as a classic rendition of Climax Blues Band’s “I Love You” which so happens to be the first song TESLA recorded together after reuniting from a painful 5 year break up.
Take a spin of the new disc by TESLA and enjoy the celebration of 25 years with America’s gritty blue collar band of survivors who still rocks today, and will for another 25 years!
Crashdiet made their own bootleg recording of their performance in Milano, Italy. They made nine songs available as a free download on their website, at this link. You have to be a member (free) of their website to download the tunes. Check it out!!
