I hear bands compare themselves to Metallica all of the time. I don’t hear many bands calling themselves a combination of Metallica and Parliament. Needless to say, New York City’s King Hell got my attention with that description in their bio. Their music is a funky, punky metal blast that is certainly worth checking out.
If you visit the band’s Reverbnation page, you can free downloads of their songs “WTF” and “Bad Mofo”, plus check out a snippet of their reworking of Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like A Wolf”. Visit their Reverbnation page for more info at this link.
You can check out the video clip for their song “Brooklyn” below.
Check out the new video clip “Skull Crusher” from the heavy metal band, Wolf! “Skull Crusher” is from the new Wolf album, Legions of Bastards. You can pick it up here!
The re-formed LYNCH MOB, featuring George Lynch (ex-DOKKEN), was set to begin their summer US tour on Friday, July 29th in Houston, TX. It was a surprise to the Texas crowd when the dynamic band showed up without singer Oni Logan who decided to sit this tour out at home. Chaz West of Bonham will now be replacing Logon on this tour.
A statement from the band reads: “Oni let the band and our fans down. He quit the band at 5:30 am before our 7:30 am scheduled flight. He left us high and dry and did not fulfill his commitment. We are saddened and disappointed – but as a band, we are committed to honoring our obligations.”
Lynch also stated that he plans on emulating the vocals with his guitar, if necessary!
Work of Art have released a new video for their song “The Great Fall”. This song is off of Work of Art’s new album, In Progress due out August 23rd from Frontiers Records.

From Def Leppard.com:
By now most of you will know that my Father passed away after a long illness, on July 7th, aged 81. This is why some of our shows have been rescheduled, & quite frankly, why I might have been “off my game” recently, & for that I can only apologise. Going into the rehearsals & tour, even with a sick Father’s blessing, is a lot harder than I imagined it to be, & through all the jokes & smiles during interviews & indeed up on stage, there’s an inherent sadness & worry you just can’t shake … and as we like to say, you can’t unscramble an egg, …. it IS hard to deal with, but you all know, we are the kings of getting on with it, so we shall prevail, …. which brings me back to the title of this piece ….
Last night was the first show back after the enforced break, the first show I’ve ever done without a Father, & can I say to the good people of Cincinnati Ohio, THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT THAT LITTLE BIT EASIER TO DEAL WITH BY BEEING “SO” GOOD !!! … I’ll admit, I ran out of gas last night, by Photograpth I had nothing left to give … it WAS emotional, yes, but it was over 100 degrees on stage too, which didn’t help either, but you guys carried me over the last part of the show on a wave of goodwill that I will never forget !! I had to get the first show, wherever it might have been, out of the way, to help me move on as it were, & after experiencing a reception like we did last night I wouldn’t have wanted it anywhere else !!! …. I hope the rest of the shows are as good, and I’m sure they will be, but for now, last night emotionally at least has help[ed my through the hardest few weeks of my life, & I thank you all for that.
Also, I thank everyone who has sent condolence messages to my Mum and me, mainly through the Planet Rock account, way too many to reply to, so please take this as a great big THANK YOU !! … my old man would be well proud !!! … as he was when I photographed him sat on Rick’s Kit at the Don Valley Stadium gig back in 1993, the photograph below is something I thought I’d like to share with you all …..
Once again, thank you all so very much for your support over these last few very difficult weeks …
Love & peace,

“Hold the Line”, “White Sister”, “English Eyes”, “Goodbye Elenore”, “Rosanna”, “Is This Love”, “Burning Heart”, “The Search Is Over”, “High on You”, “I Can’t Hold Back”… These songs from Toto and Survivor are true musical evergreens and are still played on radio stations all over the world. Each band has sold sold millions of records, respectively and have created a legendary melodic rock sound. The soaring vocals that kept these melodies in so many fan’s minds come from two amazing singers: Bobby Kimball (Toto) and Jimi Jamison (Survivor). For the first time in their career, Bobby and Jimi have joined forces together for a “duets” album, which will see the light of day on Frontiers Records on October 14th in Europe and October 18th in North America.
“We always talked of doing something like this, musically we like the same stuff and we’ve been in the same kind of bands and when the opportunity arose we jumped on it” said Jimi Jamison. “I’ve always wanted to do a CD with Jimi because he is one of my best friends, we work well together and we have fun together” added Bobby Kimball.
The album features Kimball and Jamison’s signature vocal styles in a familiar musical environment created for them by such esteemed songwriters as Richard Page (Mr. Mister), Jim Peterik (Survivor), Randy Goodrum (Steve Perry, Toto), John Waite, Erik Martensson (W.E.T.) and Robert Sall (Work of Art), among others, and directed by the expert hands of German producer Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner, Kiske Somerville). While not exactly a “supergroup”, the Kimball-Jamison alliance is not just a one-off studio project, as the main motivation behind this album is an ongoing collaboration between the two singers who have been singing live together with the “Legends of Rock” and the “Voices of Classic Rock”, both ensembles featuring singers and musicians from very popular classic rock groups.
“Kimball Jamison” is a labor of love & friendship and is set to become a true classic among melodic rock fans.
The “Kimball Jamison” album will include the following songs:
Worth Fighting For; Can’t Wait For Love; Sail Away; Chasing Euphoria; Find Another Way; Get Back In The Game; I Did Everything Wrong; Shadows Of Love; Hearts Beat Again; We Gotta Believe; Kicking And Screaming; Your Photograph. The album will be released exclusively in a glossy digipak edition featuring a bonus DVD which includes: The Making of the Album (approx. 30 mins. documentary); Worth Fighting For (videoclip); Can’t Wait for Love (videoclip)

In the late 80s, hair metal was all the rage. It seemed that every other day a new glam band was hitting the airwaves with their latest single. We all remember the well known bands—Motley Crue, Poison, Warrant, Cinderella—the list goes on and on. But what about the lesser known acts? What about the bands that were on the cusp of greatness and for some reason could not break through to the next level?
Here are five great hair metal bands from the late 80s that just missed out on being part of the upper stratosphere of hair metal greatness.
Dangerous Toys burst onto the scene with their self-titled debut album in 1989. On the strength of their hit single “Scared,” the band gathered a large following on Dial MTV as well as rock radio mediums. With their redneck play on hair metal, Dangerous Toys was a beloved band. Their sex-tinged songs like “Sport’n A Woody” and “Take Me Drunk” combined with the fast, intense playing of Scott Dalhover and Jason McMaster’s unique voice made them fan favorites amongst the hair metal scene. The tongue in cheek, humorous lyrics also worked to the band’s advantage and were found somewhat innovative during the time.
Hailing from Austin, Texas, Dangerous Toys developed a cult following on the strength of their eponymous debut. In 1991, during the early stages of the grunge explosion, Dangerous Toys released their sophomore album, Hellacious Acres. While not doing much worse than their debut album, Hellacious Acres failed to be the follow up album that Columbia records expected. The album dropped off the charts after 9 weeks.
Several personnel changes and two more albums would follow (Pissed and The R*tist 4*merly Known As Dangerous Toys) but neither charted and the band was all but forgotten by both die-hard and casual fans alike.
Where Are They Now?
Singer, Jason McMaster tried to keep the Dangerous Toys name alive, but after the release of their live album in 1999, even he had to admit that it was time to move on. In 1999 he formed Broken Teeth with former Dangerous Toys guitarist, Paul Lidel. Lidel left the group in 2006, but McMaster still sings for the band. Their latest album is 2010’s Viva La Rock, Fantastico. McMaster is also fronting the heavy metal band Ignitor.
Drummer Mark Geary and bass player Mike Watson formed the Austin based band, Proof Of Life.
In 2008 all the original members of Dangerous Toys reunited for their 20th Anniversary show in Austin, Texas. The band performed a two hour gig that while not well attended (approximately 200 fans) was well received by critics and fans alike.
Rumors exist that the band still gets together annually to perform live shows. Perhaps they will be asked to perform at a future hair metal festival.
Did You Know?
After the release of their second album, Dangerous Toys was the opening act for the Judas Priest/Motorhead/Alice Cooper tour. The tour was a complete failure and was cancelled 10 weeks in.
Formed in 1989, the Electric Angels were a Hollywood strip, sleaze band that did not get even close to the amount of recognition they deserved. Their self titled debut album still holds up to this day as an incredible glam metal record. After moving to New York City, the band signed with Atlantic Records and recorded their self-titled debut. The album was released in 1990 just as the fall of the era of glam metal had begun. Unfortunately, the timing for Electric Angels was catastrophic, and Atlantic did almost nothing to support the band or the record.
Where Are They Now?
Guitarist Ryan Roxie went on to record for Alice Cooper and Slash as part of Slash’s Snakepit. In 2005, he started blogging and hosting a podcast called, The Big Rock Show which he still hosts to this day. At that time Roxy also moved to Sweden, where he currently resides. He has released two albums, Peace, Love and Armageddon & Two Sides To Every Story with this band Roxie 77.
In 1995, lead singer, Shane, bassist Jonathan Daniels, and drummer John Schubert formed the band, The Loveless. They released one album, titled A Tale Of Gin And Salvation. Reviews of the album were favorable, but fans did not flock to buy the record and the band split up soon after.
In 2000, Electric Angels performed a one off reunion show for The Tour Bus. The band has not performed together since.
Did You Know?
Electric Angels recorded a sophomore album titled, New York Times that was never released.
Formed in 1987, Junkyard was a sleaze glam band that was poised to take off in the world of metal. They released their self-titled debut album in 1989. Fronted by the insanely talented David Roach, Junkyard’s eponymous album produced a modest hit with the song “Simple Man.” The ballad of the album, “Hands Off,” was another classic Junkyard song that fans of the band loved.
Unfortunately, Junkyard hit multiple walls when hair metal gave way to grunge, and their second album, Sixes, Sevens, And Nines succumbed to the sophomore jinx. After the fatal collapse of that album, the band disappeared and was not heard from again until the dawn of the new millennium.
Where Are They Now?
Guitarist Brian Baker has been a member of Bad Religion since 1994 and regularly records and tours with that band.
In 2007, lead singer David Roach joined local band, Dealer.
In 2008, Junkyard put out a CD of unreleased material that was recorded in 1987. The songs were from the original demos the band used to get signed with Geffen records. A short tour followed the release of the album.
In 2009, Junkyard was schedule to perform at the inaugural Rock Gone Wild event in Iowa which was cancelled due to financial issues. The band has not been heard from since and it is not known if they are working on any new material or have any plans to tour.
Chris Gates, lead guitarist and main songwriter for Junkyard has released a new southern rock CD with his band Chris Gates & Gatesville. The new CD is called Welcome to Gatesville.
Did You Know?
Junkyard recorded their third album in 1992, but the album was never released. The band split up shortly after recording the album.
In 1990, just a little late to the hair metal party, Love/Hate released their stellar debut album, Blackout In The Red Room. Backed by the popularity of their strong single, “Why Do You Think they Call It Dope?” Love/Hate got some instant recognition and developed a strong fan following. After touring as a support act for Dio and then AC/DC, Love/Hate went into the studio to record their sophomore album, Wasted In America.
When sales of Wasted In America failed to meet Columbia’s expectations, the band was dropped from the label. Love/Hate went on to record Let’s Rumble at their own expense. The album was picked up by BMG Records for distribution. Unfortunately for Love/Hate, the release of the album was delayed several times and by the time it was released, sales were poor.
Love/Hate would go on to record three more albums (I’m Not Happy, Livin’ Off Layla, and Let’s Eat) but none of them would match the initial success of their debut album. By 2000, with the release of a greatest hits compilation, the band had gone their separate ways.
Where Are They Now?
Lead singer Jizzy Pearl joined LA Guns in 1999 and remained there until 2002 when the band decided to reunite the original lineup. Pearl then joined Ratt as their lead singer until 2006 when original singer Stephen Pearcy rejoined the band. Pearl went on to release two solo albums, both of which failed to chart. Jizzy rejoined L.A. Guns (with Tracii Guns) in 2009.
Guitarist Jon E. Love is now a music producer in the Southern California area. He occasionally performs with two bands, The Hard Rock All Stars and The Dirty Rats. He has also worked scoring major motion pictures.
Love/Hate reunited in 2007 for a one-off show that was held at Club Vodka in Hollywood, California. Although the band had a great time with that performance, no reunion came out of the performance. Currently there are no plans for a reunion, or Love/Hate shows of any kind.
Did You Know?
Lead singer Jizzy Pearl has written three books — two novels and a book of short stories.
Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys
Moving forward from his stint as lead guitarist for Billy Idol, Steve Stevens formed Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys in 1989.The band consisted of Steve Stevens on guitar and bass, Perry McCarty on vocals, and Tommy Price on drums. Atomic Playboys did not fare well either critically, or commercially and it is the only album this band released. Usually referred to as a Steve Stevens solo album, there were plans for the band to tour and produce future records that never came to fruition. Led by the amazing vocals of Perry McCarty, and filled with brilliant guitar work by Stevens,Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys is one glam metal album that needs to be added to your collection.
Where Are They Now?
Steve Stevens tried to release a couple of solo albums in the mid-nineties that met with neither critical nor commercial success. In the early 2000s, he rejoined with Billy Idol for whom he still does guitar work. He is currently in the studio with Billy Idol working on Idol’s next studio release.
Perry McCarty went on to record a demo with Robbin Crosby of Ratt after Atomic Playboys disbanded. In the mid-nineties, he rejoined his original band, Warrior, and they released an album in 1998.
Did You Know?
Artist H.R. Geiger, best known for his visual effects work on the movie Alien, did the cover for Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys.

Tesla is back with their latest offering Twisted Wires.
Twisted Wires offers fans acoustic versions of some of Tesla’s classic tunes. Half of the songs recorded feature former Tesla guitarist Tommy Skeoch, the other half Dave Rude.
I have to be honest, I have mixed feeling about this release. While I love Tesla, I can’t say that Twisted Wires feels like an essential release.
The two new songs “2nd Street” are “Better Off Without You” are pretty good, but I wouldn’t rate them amongst Tesla’s best works. I did like Tesla’s rendition of the Climax Blues Band’s tune “I Love You”.
The acoustic versions of the songs are good, but some of the songs lose their power by unplugging them. A perfect example is the song “Hang Tough” which I have heard hundreds of times prior to this acoustic version. This song really loses its energy without those blazing solos from Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch. The acoustic version isn’t bad, but it just isn’t as good. I felt that was about a few of the songs on Twisted Wires.
I did like hearing the acoustic versions of “Shine Away” and my all time favorite Tesla tune “Song and Emotion”.
Overall, Twisted Wires isn’t a bad CD, but your enjoyment of it will greatly depend on how big of a Tesla fan you are. I am a huge fan of the band, so needless to say, I will buy anything they put out. While I enjoyed this CD, I thought it was good, but not great.
It will definitely hold me over until the next Tesla CD comes out.

Irish rockers GLYDER have completed work on their fourth studio album, “Backroads To Byzantium”, for an October 11th North American and October 7th European release via SPV/Steamhammer Records. “Backroads to Byzantium” takes the listener on a road trip that has a hint of Americana and progresses to the re-emerging troubles on the streets of Northern Ireland to being homeless on the streets of London. Other themes on the album concern the evils of the tabloid press and global warming. The album ends off in a reflective mood about mortality and how it’s not the end.”
GLYDER’s new singer Jackie Robinson has a unique rock voice that sometimes hints at Paul Rodgers and Phil Mogg. Hailing from Northern Ireland, he was recruited through an ad on the Internet and because the rest of the band is from the South of Ireland, the album was written between Jackie and the two GLYDER guitarists, Bat Kinane and Pete Fisher, over email. Working with some home recording software and a few Gmail accounts, the new GLYDER album took shape over Christmas 2010 and early 2011. The album was recorded in Dublin and mixed in Copenhagen. The stunning artwork was created by Mark Wilkinson.
Founding member Bat Kinane spoke about the new lineup and album:
“This new GLYDER album has i feel my best songwriting and guitar playing to date. I’ve just put everything into this album and I also seem to have found a new confidence in my playing. Pete’s playing is also great and he has some amazing solos.
“You cannot mistake that this is a great guitar album, but the songwriting I feel is top-notch, too. Jackie, the new singer, really has a quality set of pipes and that makes it very exciting.
“I like the fact that we used all the modern technology available to us to write the album because Jackie lives 200 miles away. It’s very much a classic rock-sounding album, but it was written and recorded in a way that could have not been done thirty years ago.
“I know in my heart we have done something very special on this album and I’m very proud to be in this band.”
Some older GLYDER tracks with the new singer Jackie Robinson can be heard on www.reverbnation.com/glyder
GLYDER have released three albums and have opened for the likes of Metallica, Slash, Dio, Thin Lizzy, Michael Schenker, Mötley Crüe, Blue Oyster Cult. They have headlined in Spain and their own native Ireland as well as headlining to 10.000 rock fans in India.
The band is currently lining up dates for festivals in Ireland during the summer and doing some dates with Y+T in Ireland in October.
Jackie Robinson – Vocals
Bat Kinane – Guitars and Backing Vocals
Pete Fisher – Guitars
Graham McClatchie – Bass
Des McEvoy – Drums

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of the brand new HOUSE OF LORDS studio album “Big Money” on September 23rd in Europe and September 27th in North America.
Following on the heels of the successful release of « Cartesian Dreams » House of Lords are coming back with another amazingly strong release which presents again all the trademark elements of their Melodic Hard Rock sound. « I am very proud to have done four HOL CD’s with the same line-up » says singer James Christian, « I enjoy working with every one of them and plan to do many more records in the future. Mark Baker has now been on board as a co-writer for the last two CD’s I love working with him. We are totally on the same page when writing new music ».
And indeed, the new album, is truly newest addition to an already stellar catalogue of songs. “Big Money”, is well, ‘BIG’. The album starts with the trademark vocals of James Christian and crashes into a Power Rock Classic that you will not forget after the first listen, followed by in a song that Christian describes “as the band’s best work to date”: “One Man Down”. Each song has its own distinct quality as you would expect from The Lords and once again the album is full of soaring choruses, awesome guitar work and songs that grab you from the first listen and don’t let go.
“The elements we use on “Big Money” are always the same for us and that is to write and record the best songs that we can” explains Christian. “We always write enough songs for more than one CD and then we pick the best songs to make up the new record. We will always be a Melodic Rock Group. It is the music that made us want to be musicians in the first place. So we will always stay true to that art!”. James teamed up again on the songwriting with long-time friend and partner Mark Baker along with the other band members Jimi Bell and BJ Zampa and Swedish producer/guitarist Tommy Denander.
House of Lords debuted in 1989 with the release of the self-titled album, a record which is still regarded as one of the best Arena Rock releases of the 80’s. The colossal sound, the soaring vocals of James Christian and instrumental capabilities of the band (which featured ex Angel and Giuffria Gregg Giuffria, along with such luminaries as Lanny Cordola, Chuck Wright and Ken Mary), reminiscent of such frontrunners as Whitesnake, Deep Purple and Van Halen, immediately brought the band to the attention of the media and fans.
With their sophomore release entitled “Sahara”, House of Lords gained considerable chart success with their cover version of Blind Faith’s “Can’t Find My Way Home”. After a tour with Nelson in 1991, the group disbanded, eventually coming back with a new lineup (only featuring original members Giuffria and Christian) in 1992 with “Demon’s Down”. With the change of the musical climate, House of Lords went into hibernation, until the original lineup came back together in 2000, releasing of the controversial “Power and the Myth” an album which featured a sound leaning more towards Progressive Hard Rock with 70’s rock influences.
After a short European tour, singer James Christian decided to go back to the trademark Arena Rock sound of House Of Lords, putting together a new line-up with the blessing of founding member Gregg Giuffria, who opted out right before the release of “Power and the Myth”. New members Jimi Bell on guitars, B.J. Zampa on drums and Chris McCarvill on bass supplied a true powerhouse sound to the fifth studio album “World Upside Down”, a record which caused a real stir in the Hard Rock and Melodic Rock scene and was followed up by the equally impressive “Come to My Kingdom” and “Cartesian Dreams”.
The new album “Big Money” includes the following tracks: Big Money, One Man Down, First To Cry, Searchin’, Someday When, Livin’ In A Dream World, The Next Time I Hold You, Run For Your Life, Hologram, Seven, Once Twice, Blood. Also included: multimedia bonus videoclip “Someday When”.

Watch Episode 4 of Supagroup’s new webseries, up today!
Rock band Supagroup is now a double threat. Not only have they been rocking and rolling for over a decade, but with their new faux documentary web series Amped!, they’ve now conquered comedy as well. Basically, they’re like the Bo Jackson of the musical and laughter-based arts.” Comedysmack.com
You can purchase Supagroup’s new CD Hail! Hail at CD Baby at this link. Digitial Downloads are available at Amazon.com & iTunes.
When I first heard that George Lynch’s new CD, Kill All Control was supposed to be the sophomore effort from Souls of We, I was somewhat curious about this disc. I am one of the few that liked the Souls of We CD. I thought there was some pretty good songs there.
When I heard George had the guest vocalists Marc Torien and Keith St. John on a few tracks, I did something I rarely do. I pre-ordered the CD.
I can happily say I made the right choice, as Kill All Control is every bit as good as I expected it to be.
To me, the tracks with Marc Torien alone are well worth the price of admission. I never would have guessed that Marc Torien and George Lynch would have sounded so good together. This is a collaboration that I would like to see happen again. London LeGrand, Will Martin, and Keith St. John all turn in solid vocal performances.
The first four songs on this CD, “Kill All Control”, “Done”, “Fly on the Wall”, and “Brand New Day” all have that classic George Lynch sound. George absolutely brings it on these songs, and many others. The modern sounds of the first Souls of We album are still present on some tunes, but Lynch’s guitar work is the shining star on most tracks.
The CD slows down for the song “Wicked Witch”, which to me sounds like a left over Alice in Chains song, albeit a very good one. (You can listen to “Wicked Witch” at this link.)
“Son of Scary” is a derivative of the 1987 classic instrumental “Mr. Scary” from the Dokken album, Back for the Attack. This song features Fred Coury from Cinderella on drums. If you liked “Mr. Scary” you will probably like “Son of Scary” too. While this version doesn’t quite have the teeth of the original, it is a fun listen, and worth checking out.
Some other good tunes worth checking out are “Resurrect Your Soul”, the cheesy, but fun “Rattlesnake”, “Man on Fire” and the upbeat rocker “Go It Alone”.
Overall, Kill All Control is a good CD, and one of the better solo efforts from George Lynch. Every time I listen to this CD, I like it a little more. If you are a George Lynch fan, you need to pick this up now! I Recommend it!!

Riverdogs was formed by vocalist/guitarist Rob Lamothe and bassist Nick Brophy. Following an introduction to the guys, Vivian Campbell (Def Leppard, ex-Dio, ex-Whitesnake) agreed to produce Riverdogs’ first demo. Vivian was so impressed by their talent, he joined the band for their debut-album, released on Epic Records in 1990, winning a prestigious Edison Award in The Netherlands. Soon after, drummer Marc Danzeisen joined the band to complete the line-up.
Though fans and critics gave the album a warm reception, lack of support from their record label eventually led the band to go independent, with Campbell departing the line-up. Releasing another two albums in Europe, the band continued to pick up fans before eventually disbanding.
Campbell settled into the Def Leppard lineup and Nick Brophy become and continues to be a respected engineer and producer. Rob Lamothe continued an acclaimed solo career and Marc Danzeisen an in-demand session player.
In 2003 the band gathered again to record new material and play a few reunion shows. Those new songs were recorded as demos, but never completed.
In 2010 MelodicRock Records approached band manager Paul Liszewski about a possible release of these songs. The band liked the idea so much an agreement was reached and over the course of a few week long get-togethers, the line-up of Lamothe, Campbell, Brophy and Danzeisen recorded final versions of the 2003 tracks as well as writing a couple of brand new songs.
Added to the new World Gone Mad album is one live cut from the band’s 2004 re-union shows, a cover of the Badfinger classic.
World Gone Mad is the fulfillment of a long promised release of new Riverdogs material. The band’s faithful fanbase are rewarded with 7 new Riverdogs classics, issued at a special price.

After more than three decades of delivering heavy metal to the masses, JAG PANZERhave decided to call it quits.
“We are proud of every album we released and the support we’ve received from the heavy metal community,” states guitarist and founder Mark Briody. ” We’ve played so many places around the world and enjoyed every minute of it but the time has come where we just cannot move forward as a band.”
Guitarist Christian Lasegue left the band last month to pursue his degree full time. “Christian did an amazing job on The Scourge of the Light and it was a pleasure working with him,” continues Briody. “We wished Christian well but kept this quiet until we found a replacement.”
Drummer Rikard Stjernquist says,”Several guitar players applied for the job. It was a pleasant surprise to see so many young guitarists with advanced chops. One player, 19 year old Jake Dreyer, submitted videos of him nailing solos from both Chris Broderick and Christian Lasegue. We were ready to welcome Jake into the band but unfortunately that will not happen. There is no doubt in any of our minds that Jake will go on to be a household name in his own right.”
Bassist John Tetley adds a final statement:” In closing, we’d like to send out a huge heartfelt THANK YOU to metal fans throughout the world. You all rule!”
KITTIE have revealed the first of many behind the scenes clips of the band hard at work on their upcoming record, due out August 30th.
The band will release a brand new record entitled “I’ve Failed You” on August 30th, 2011 via eOne Music. For this effort, the band enlisted the talents of Siegfried “Siggy” Meier at Beach Road Studios in Goderich Ontario who took on producing rolls.
A brand new track called “We Are The Lamb” can be heard HERE. KITTIE recently shot a video for said track last month in New York.
“‘We Are The Lamb is the first single and is about as musically devastating as we get. It is a tale of self sacrifice, to give those you love a chance to grow and learn to live for themselves. I cannot express to you how proud of this album we are. ‘I’ve Failed You’ is real, honest, angry and ugly” says front woman Morgan Lander.

California rockers, Diamond Lane released their second longplayer, World Without Heroes in May. The band’s latest effort is a pretty cool blend of modern rock, and 80’s hair metal.
“All Rebels Welcome” starts World Without Heroes off right with a hard rockin’ number that does a good job getting the party started. The fun continues with the cleverly titled “I Know Who You Did Last Summer”. This catchy rocker has become a staple of my summer time, hard rock playlist. “City of Sin” has more of a modern rock feel to it, but it is a very catchy song, and is another tune worth checking out.
If you aren’t sold on Diamond Lane after hearing the song “Sundress City”, there is no hope for you. This is an upbeat rocker that demands to be played at maximum volume.
Brandon Baumann’s vocals have just enough rasp to make the songs on World Without Heroes interesting. When Jarret Reis cuts loose on the guitar, he takes the music on this CD to a whole new level. There are some moments on World Without Heroes that offers me an 80’s flashback that brings old Warrant tunes to mind, but there is enough of a modern take on many of the songs that keeps Diamond Lane from sounding like another retread hair metal act.
World Without Heroes has been a pleasant surprise in 2011. This fun rockin’ CD ought to open up many doors for Diamond Lane, and is definitely a disc you should check out.
