To be totally succinct about it, Paul Rodgers is simply one of the best rock frontmen in history. Period. No argument. End of discussion. His soulful blustery pipes have stood the test of time from Free, Bad Company and The Firm to Queen and beyond. Be it blues, rock’n’roll, ballads, R’n’B, or pop, there isn’t anything this man cannot sing.

We are honoured, once again, to be nominated for this prestigious award”

FIRST SINGLE “24 HOURS” AVAILABLE ON ITUNES SEPTEMBER 1st
After 2 years of extensive international touring, guitar virtuoso, singer/ songwriter Richie Kotzen is back to unleash his new album 24 HOURS, releasing November 11 on Headroom-Inc.
24 HOURS reflects the guitar style’s that has defined his career as a virtuoso, while taking it to another level of playing. “I feel like I have reached a new level of soloing on the opening track 24 HOURS,” explains Kotzen. “I stopped using a guitar pick on electric a few years ago and my playing has evolved in a different way. Some of the solo lines I play on the song 24 HOURS, and others as well, are lines I would have never been able to play with a guitar pick. So I would say the solo’s on this CD are at a different level than previous recordings.”
24 HOURS is an absorbing collective blend of Kotzen’s musical influences and diversity. 24 hours takes you on an inspired, musical journey as the opening track sets the tone that falls stylistically somewhere between early Van Halen and Sly and the Family Stone. Kotzen also brought in his talented daughter, August Kotzen and friend Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, to complete the album. “My daughter, August is singing with me on a few songs and is playing electric piano on the song STOP ME,” states Kotzen. “My friend Jerry Cantrell is singing backgrounds on LOVE IS BLIND and does a very cool lead vocal ad-lib in the final chorus of the tune.”
24 HOURS is an album that has been in the works since Kotzen started playing guitar. The guitar virtuoso burst onto the heavy metal scene as a teenager with a lightning-fast guitar techniques. With his talents Kotzen has played with some of the best musicians; securing such major collaboration with the band Mr. Big and renowned jazz great Stanley Clarke as well as his own solo projects. “I have been lucky in the sense that I have been able to play with guys who I could learn from,” explains Kotzen. “The biggest musical lesson for me was playing in a band with Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. Obviously these guys are jazz musicians and I am not, but I learned so much from the time we recorded and toured together. My favorite rock bassist is Billy Sheehan and we were in Mr. Big together for 3 years which was awesome.”
24 HOURS was recorded and produced in Kotzen’s studio Headroom-Inc. 24 HOURS will be released on 11.11.11. Expect the first single, title track 24 HOURS to hit airwaves sometime soon. For more information go to www.richiekotzen.com.

“Mirror Ball” is out now on Frontiers Records.
The Carnival of Madness made a stop at the Kentucky State Fair last Friday night. This concert featured new comers Emphatic, Adelitas Way, Black Stone Cherry, Alter Bridge and Theory of a Deadman. Unlike the east coast that was getting hammered with high speed winds and torrential rainfall from Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene, it was a perfect night for a rock show in Louisville, Ky. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The show started like clock work and every band pretty much started at their scheduled time.
Emphatic took the stage at promptly at 6:30, and the first thing I noticed is they had a different singer. I saw Emphatic earlier this year at the Phoenix Hill Tavern in Louisville, KY, and met their singer Patrick Wilson after the show. I wondered all night what had happened to Patrick. Thanks to HRH reader Shaylee, I found out that Emphatic’s singer Patrick Wilson was unable to tour with the Emphatic due to an injury to his vocal chords. Grant Kendrick from the Omaha, NE band, The Wreckage is filling in for Patrick while he heals. To my ears, Kendrick is doing a fine job. Emphatic played several songs off of their newly released self titled CD including: “Do I”, “Get Paid”, “Beg”, “Put Down The Drink”, “Original Sin” and my personal favorite, “Bounce”.
Las Vegas, Nevada’s Adelitas Way was the second act on the Carnival of Madness bill. This was the first time I have seen Adelitas Way perform live. I didn’t have any expectations for this band, and I liked their tunes quite a bit. They played songs from their self titled CD, as well as their new disc Home School Valedictorian. Judging from the tunes they played Friday night, I am going to have to break their CD’s out and give them another listen. They performed a tight set, and were pretty good, however neither Emphatic or Adelitas Way could even come close to the performance put on by Kentucky’s Black Stone Cherry.
The Kentucky State Fair was a home coming performance for Black Stone Cherry. They were the headliner at the Kentucky State Fair one year ago, and quite honestly, I thought they should have been again in 2011. Black Stone Cherry put on a high energy set which included their songs,”Maybe Someday”, “Blame in on the Boom Boom”, “White Trash Millionaire”, “Blind Man”, and “Lonely Train”. They were excellent, and a whole lot of fun to watch. I wish they could have played longer. I have seen BSC perform several times over the years, and they never disappoint. They were easily the highlight of this Carnival of Madness concert.
The last time I saw Alter Bridge perform was in 2008, so I they were the second band that I was looking forward to most on this night. Myles Kennedy and company did not disappoint. Their set included the songs: “Slip to the Void”, “Find the Real”, “White Knuckles”, “Ghost of Days Gone By”, “Ties That Bind”, “Blackbird”, “Come To Life”, “Isolation” and “Rise Today”. The last time I saw Alter Bridge, I remember them being good, but they left a much bigger impression on me this time. Mark Tremonti was excellent on lead guitar all night. Myles Kennedy got to show off his guitar playing prowess, when he traded off guitar solos with Tremonti. I had no idea that Myles Kennedy was THIS good of a guitar player. Who Knew? I hope I can see Alter Bridge again, when they can play a longer set. Their performance was second only to Black Stone Cherry on this evening.
I must admit that I haven’t had a lot of love for Theory of a Deadman over the years. Every time I have seen them live, they have been disappointing at best. On Friday night, they surprised me. They sounded and performed better than any other time I have seen them. Singer Tyler Connolly did his best to interact with the crowd (and not look at his shoes). While I still didn’t think Theory of a A Deadman had a lot of energy, I thought their were much better than I have seen them previously. I don’t know if having Black Stone Cherry and Alter Bridge open up for them puts more pressure on T.O.A.D., but they definitely brought their “A” game to the old Cardinal Stadium. Theory of a Deadman performed their songs “Gentlemen”, “Got it Made”, “All or Nothing”, “So Happy”, “Bitch Came Back”,”Not Meant To Be”, “Lowlife”, their cover of the J.J. Cale classic “Cocaine”, “Bad Girlfriend” and more.
If you take one thing from this review, take this, go see the Carnival of Madness on one of the remaining dates. It is well worth your hard earned cash, and is fun night of rock and roll.
The following dates remain in the 2011 Carnival of Madness:
Thursday, September 1 Allentown, PA The Great Allentown Fair

NEW ALBUM THE GREAT ESCAPE ARTIST IN STORES OCTOBER 4TH
Jane’s Addiction has now released their official video for their second single “Irresistible Force,” from the band’s upcoming album, The Great Escape Artist, coming out on October 4th. Fans can view the video here.
Frontiers Records is particularly pleased to announce the release of FERGIE FREDERIKSEN new album “Happiness is the Road” for a release on October 14th in Europe and October 18th in North America.
Mostly known for being the former vocalist of TOTO (in the “Isolation” era), Fergie has been involved in a lot of other outstanding musical projects too. Trillion, LeRoux, Frederiksen/Philips, Mecca, Frederiksen/Denander and David London (solo album, under pseudonym) are simply a few worthy of mention. In 1999 he debuted as a solo artist with “Equilibrium”, an album which garnered great reviews in Europe and Japan. In short Frederiksen is certainly one of the most esteemed singers in the Melodic Rock scene and his vocal abilities have blessed some real masterpieces of this music.
In June 2010, Frederiksen announced he had been diagnosed with liver cancer. The following months were obviously very difficult for the singer who used music and the recording sessions of this album as a therapy to regain confidence in himself and his strengths. He also found the time and energy to collaborate with Jim Peterik (ex Survivor) on the songwriting of the album’s title track, a real motivational manifesto for a positive approach to life. Fergie says “It was hard doing the sessions. I had side effects of the drugs, after the operations and then with the pills I’m taking. I had to stop many days and just go home to bed to try and do it again the next day. It has been a huge victory for myself. When I was first diagnosed with cancer I wanted to stop recording. It didn’t feel like I could do it. But my friend Alex Ligertwood said I need to finish it. He was right of course and I thank him for the tough love. I am proud that I did.”
About one year later, in the summer 2011, Fergie had two great things to share with the World: the first being the completion of the recording of the new album and the second is the positive results to the cures he was under, with the cancer now being close to be defeated. “I am feeling great right now” tells Fergie. “I am close to cancer free. Not what all the doctors thought would happen and they are almost as excited about it as I am. I seem to be an exception to the rule. I am very glad to be because the alternative sucks big time”.
The new album musically shows a different side of Fergie. “It’s hard to compare this new album with Equilibrium” continues Frederiksen, “That was a cd that I co-wrote most of the songs, so I guess you could say I was more connected because of that. In the same breath I must say that this cd is very important because of where my world is at right now. The title song, Happiness Is The Road, is the saying I have lived by for the past few years even before I became ill. It means a lot to me to have other people examine it’s meaning. If you think about it real hard, you will find joy and love in your life you have been missing. At least I hope people do. The songs a real good songs. Being I co-wrote only one, it is a change for me but a good one. It is what it is, a cd with good songs and hopefully good vocals. Thanks to Serafino at Frontiers for his vision.”
“Happiness is the Road” is a story of love and passion to tell and of course of so many great songs expertly produced by Dennis Ward (House of Lords, Pink Cream 69, Place Vendome and Angra) and written by Jim Peterik (ex Survivor), David Roberts (Bad English), Mark Baker (Signal, House of Lords), Robert Sall (Work of Art), Joe Vana (Mecca), Dennis Ward and more.
Fergie Frederiksen is involved in raising awareness of Hepatitis C, a disease he has been struggling with himself. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the most common chronic blood-borne infection in the United States. Fergie has arranged benefit shows for the American Liver Foundation, with the cause of fighting Hep C. He went through a successful treatment in 2005, which he is fighting for other patients to receive too.
Well, the future is once again bright for Fergie, so keep going on in your life as “Happiness is the Road”.
“Happiness Is the Road” includes the following songs:
Angel (Mirror To Your Soul); Elaine; First To Cry; Follow Your Heart; Happiness Is The Road; I Still Believe In Love; Lyin’ Eyes; Love Waits For No One; Writing On The Wall; The Future Ain’t What It Used To Be; The One; The Saviour.

Irish rockers GLYDER have completed work on their fourth studio album, “Backroads To Byzantium”, for an October 25th North American via SPV/Steamhammer Records. “Backroads to Byzantium” takes the listener on a road trip that has a hint of Americana and progresses to the re-emerging troubles on the streets of Northern Ireland to being homeless on the streets of London. Other themes on the album concern the evils of the tabloid press and global warming. The album ends off in a reflective mood about mortality and how it’s not the end.”
GLYDER’s new singer Jackie Robinson has a unique rock voice that sometimes hints at Paul Rodgers and Phil Mogg. Hailing from Northern Ireland, he was recruited through an ad on the Internet and because the rest of the band is from the South of Ireland, the album was written between Jackie and the two GLYDER guitarists, Bat Kinane and Pete Fisher, over email. Working with some home recording software and a few Gmail accounts, the new GLYDER album took shape over Christmas 2010 and early 2011. The album was recorded in Dublin and mixed in Copenhagen. The stunning artwork was created by Mark Wilkinson.
Founding member Bat Kinane spoke about the new lineup and album:
“This new GLYDER album has what I feel is my best songwriting and guitar playing to date. I’ve just put everything into this album and I also seem to have found a new confidence in my playing. Pete’s playing is also great and he has some amazing solos.
“You cannot mistake that this is a great guitar album, but the songwriting I feel is top-notch, too. Jackie, the new singer, really has a quality set of pipes and that makes it very exciting.
“I like the fact that we used all the modern technology available to us to write the album because Jackie lives 200 miles away. It’s very much a classic rock-sounding album, but it was written and recorded in a way that could have not been done thirty years ago.
“I know in my heart we have done something very special on this album and I’m very proud to be in this band.”
Some older GLYDER tracks with the new singer Jackie Robinson can be heard on www.reverbnation.com/glyder
GLYDER have released three albums and have opened for the likes of Metallica, Slash, Dio, Thin Lizzy, Michael Schenker, Mötley Crüe, Blue Oyster Cult. They have headlined in Spain and their own native Ireland as well as headlining to 10.000 rock fans in India.
The band is currently lining up dates for festivals in Ireland during the summer and doing some dates with Y+T in Ireland in October.
Jackie Robinson – Vocals
Bat Kinane – Guitars and Backing Vocals
Pete Fisher – Guitars

‘Cold Winds on Timeless Days’ to be released October 7/10, 2011!
CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED returns with the follow up to their critically acclaimed self-titled debut! Richard Christy, Tim “Ripper” Owns, Jason Suecof and Steve DiGiorgio once again join forces to bring to life Christy’s latest body of work, Cold Winds on Timeless Days. The writing process for the new album actually began while the band was mixing their 2010 debut. Richard Christy used his experience on the first album to write songs that catered not only to each member’s playing style, but to Jason Suecof’s production style. The result: demos that turned out nearly identical to what ended up on the album!
With 12 songs clocking in at 58 minutes, fans are getting a lot more music this time around. Recording twelve songs in a short amount of time is no easy feat, but one that was accomplished because of the stellar talents in the band. Christy elaborates further: “I wanted to get a natural sound out of this album, I wanted everyone to be well rehearsed, not that I wanted the album to be rushed, but I wanted the spontaneous live feel and not over think anything too much.” Richard Christy describes Cold Winds on Timeless Days as a “perfect storm of producing” – Audiohammer’s Jason Suecof produced and Mark Lewis mixed, while mastering was handled by Alan Douches at West Westside.
Fans can hear the first single, Zerospan, as well as place pre-orders now on http://www.metalblade.com/cwotd.

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the worldwide release of the second ISSA album entitled “The Storm” on October 14th in Europe and October 18th in North America.
Since her debut “Sign of Angels”, the Norwegian Rock Diva has often been compared to such music stars as Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne and Amy Lee (Evanescence). Issa however has created her own style and approach to Melodic Rock, by mixing her peculiar and unique melodic sensibility with a rocking attitude which is unseen in today’s Pop singers.
Not metal and certainly not easy listening Pop, Issa’s music has everything and more to appeal to the vast masses: real rock with a commercial sheen.
Unlike the debut self-titled album, the “The Storm” has Issa taking a shot at songwriting and together with the Martin brothers (Vega, House of Lords, Khymera, Sunstorm), she offers up tracks on the new album like “Invincible”, “We’re on Fire” and “The Storm”, the album’s title track. Issa explains “The songs I wrote on this album show more of my personality and direction. Some of them have been written straight from my life and it’s exciting for me to finally show some of my own work for the first time. I knew Tom and James Martin through the last album on which they wrote some fantastic tunes. We’ve worked together a lot since then and these songs are very personal to me. “Invincible” especially is a song that I feel very close to.”
Songwriting contributions also came from Robert Säll (Work of Art), Randy Goodrum (Steve Lukather, Toto, Steve Perry), Daniel Palmqvist, Johannes Stole (Xorigin), Daniel Flores, Sören Kronqvist (Crash the System, Sunstorm), Chris Laney, Magnus Karlsson (Place Vendome) and more !
“The Storm” shows a different side of me” continues Issa. “I’ve had the most life changing year of my life and this also reflects on the new album in many ways. It’s a more honest performance from me and I think every song captures a feeling or something we all can relate too: everything from the fun times to the deeper side of us. I think its so important to have an album that can touch more than one feeling.”
Produced by Daniel Flores, “The Storm” shows that Issa is a solid Rock Music star and a true uprising Rock diva, who is set to alight hearts and minds of Melodic Rock fans for the years to come !
“The Storm” includes the following tracks:
Looking For Love; Please Hold On; Take A Stand; Invincible; Two Hearts; Black Clouds; You’re Making Me; Gonna Stand By You; We’re On Fire; Too Late For Love; What Does It Take; The Storm. Includes bonus videoclip: Looking For Love.
The first single “Looking for Love” can be listened in full in streaming on the Frontiers Records webradio www.frontiers.it/webradio
The Slam have signed a deal with Scarlet Records for the worldwide release of their debut album ‘Hit It!’. Founded by Canadian raised lead singer and guitarist Serge Simic, The Slam combine inspired guitar licks, driving grooves and catchy melodies in the likes of Seventies hard rock giants such as Kiss, Black Sabbath, Boston, Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. ‘Hit It!’ was mixed in Los Angeles by renowned producer Fabrizio Grossi (Steve Vai, Alice Cooper), who recognized and captured the essence of that positive, highly energetic rock’n’roll The Slam is unleashing.
The “Voice of rock” himself, Mr. Glenn Hughes, appears as a very special guest on the track ‘Little Angel’, with an outstanding performance on lead vocals. The album will be out on the 11th October 2011. C

Being a teenage boy during the late eighties in Suburbia, USA, brought with it many dreams and visions. One of the strongest dreams I ever had was becoming a rock star. I was going to grow up to become the lead singer for one of the most successful heavy metal bands that the world had ever known.
As part of my world dominance, I would emulate some of my idols that were leading the way with the 80s glam bands of the day. One of the idols that I most wanted to be like was Jani Lane, lead singer of Warrant.
I can still remember the first time that I heard “Down Boys” on the radio. From the moment I heard Jani singing that song, I knew I had to own the record. However, as a teenager in my house, money was always tight. And growing up with frugal parents did not bode well for a kid with endless wants. My allowance was some ridiculous pittance of a dollar or two per week, which was quickly splurged on comic books and candy. In order to save for a copy of Dirty, Rotten, Stinking, Filthy, Rich, a lot of discipline needed to be involved — discipline and patience.
I was not blessed with strength in either category. However, the more I heard “Down Boys” on the radio and on Dial MTV, the more I knew that I had to own that record. With a burning desire in my head, I bit the bullet and actually saved money. I did side jobs for my step-father, I hung onto my allowance, foregoing the latest issue of The Amazing Spider-Man in the process. I did whatever it took to save up the required $8.00 (plus tax).
When the day finally came that I had enough money to purchase my copy of DRFSR, I begged for a ride to the mall. Miracle of miracles, my mother agreed to take me without too much of an argument. When the car pulled into the parking lot, I was practically sprinting to Sam Goody. Once I got to the store entrance, I saw the album right there on the wall display of new releases. My entire face lit up. I was going to own my very own copy of DRFSR.
After purchasing the album, I bounced around the mall with glee. In the car ride home, I consumed the linear notes. I couldn’t wait to pop this cassette into the old boom box and blast the tunes. Warrant, here I come! My hope was that this band would be as good as Cinderella, or Poison, two other bands from the 80s heyday that I loved with a passion.
Upon returning home, I raced to my room, closed the door, and flipped on the tape deck. The Warrant tape was popped into the machine, the door closed, and the play button pressed. Immediately, the opening notes of “32 Pennies” filled the room and I was mesmerized. This brand new band from Hollywood immediately captivated me.
Consuming track after track of this dynamic ten song debut left me feeling ecstatic. Warrant was a band with staying power. DRFSR was immediately added to my favorite albums list and received constant play in the music rotation. The videos that the band released only further cemented my love for them. From “Big Talk” to “Heaven,” I was a Warrant fan of immense proportions.
At the center of it all was Jani Lane. He was young, good looking, and a hell of a singer. I thought that if I could be half as talented as he was, I would rule the world with my band. As the years went by, Warrant released more great music, I purchased it right away, and I continued to imitate a lot of Jani’s style as I auditioned for bands and wrote song lyrics.
Years later, post college, my dreams would fade as the realities of a working life set in. I never did get to take over the world, but I still remained a Warrant fan and a Jani Lane fan. I had the opportunity to see the band in concert twice with Jani at the helm, and I am so glad that I did. Not only was he a great and talented singer, but he could really lead the band during a live show. Warrant was placed on the same pedestal reserved for Poison and Cinderella, the upper echelon of glam rock.
The tail end of Jani Lane’s life was a sad one. It was hard for me to watch as one of my boyhood idols battled addiction, became overweight and out of shape, and proclaimed how much he detested one of the biggest hit songs of his career. When he went as far as stating that he wished he never wrote the song, I was appalled. How could someone be so resentful of a song that brought him so much fame and brought his fans so much joy? I felt for Jani Lane at that point.
The recent news of his death really shocked me. I was holding out hope that there would be one last hurrah, one last reunion with Warrant that went perfect. Don’t get me wrong, I think Robert Mason has done an amazing job during his time as Warrant’s lead singer, but we always yearn for the original, don’t we? With the passing of Jani Lane, we know that reunion will never happen. It’s a shame that he left this world so young and so early, but I know that the memories will live on forever. I will always have Dirty, Rotten, Filthy, Stinking, Rich and I will always have the memory of the first time I heard Jani Lane singing “Down Boys.” May he rest in peace — his body is gone, but his spirit is never forgotten.

Shy have been a mainstay in the melodic rock scene right back to the mid 1980s. But one fundamental difference separates Shy and the rest, they have stood the test of time and come shining through time and time again.
Crowned by the success of Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and Europe, the 80s were the golden era of AOR and for a while every record company craved its own poodle-haired, tight-trousered offspring. Shy made albums for two different major labels and for a while seemed in with a genuine shot at glory, but like all the above ended up biting the dust. Before adopting the name of Shy, their roots lay in the altogether heavier, twin-guitar metal of Trojan. However, even in 1982 they sensed the decade’s wind of change and set out to leave pub-metal behind. They received an offer to make an album for Hull-based independent Ebony Records on the day after a helium-voiced ball of energy called Tony Mills was sacked by his own ex-band. Their debut album Once Bitten… Twice Shy was described by Kerrang! as perhaps the greatest English pomp rock album of all time”.
Already having gigged with UFO, Magnum, Twisted Sister and Pallas, the band then added high profile supports with Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf and Gary Moore.
Before undertaking their all-important third album, 1987’s Excess All Areas, RCA relocated Shy to Los Angeles to soak up the Californian hard rock radio vibe. Such was the quality of Excess All Areas that just like FM’s Tough It Out and Native Sons by Strangeways, its inability to make stars of its creators now seems almost unfeasible. “In any genre, there will only ever be a couple of winners,” reflects Steve Harris. “But it’s surprising how many people talk of that album in hushed tones and don’t actually own a copy – or only bought the reissue.” In the following years a lot of changes occurred and Shy went through many changes.
A settled line-up completed by keyboard player Joe Basketts and drummer Bob Richards more recently played one of the sets of the day at the second Firefest show in Nottingham alongside the likes of House Of Lords, Danger Danger and Harem Scarem. The event’s packed attendance confirmed that AOR still has a fiercely devoted niche following in Britain, though strangely Shy claim to still be discovered by new followers.
Frontman Tony Mills has left the band for Norwegians TNT, and Lee Small (Phenomena / Surveillance) has taken the mike stand. Shy have lost none of their appeal and this new CD is a burst of fresh air, they sound at their very best and this self titled release is a crowning achievement that will set the standard for all others.

Few bands deserve to be talked about in such revered terms as RIOT.
Bursting through from New York City at the end of the Seventies with three ground-breaking albums on the trot (‘Rock City’, ‘Narita’ and ‘Fire Down Under’) RIOT quickly became one of the biggest cult metal bands in the world. Stunning performances in the UK at the first ever Castle Donington Festival in 1980 and Port Vale the following year and support slots with SAMMY HAGAR in Europe and AC/DC in the United States cemented their reputation as the hottest ticket to see.
With line-up changes knocking their momentum and the Eighties developing into a Thrash-fest a new-look RIOT bounced back in 1988 with the widely-acclaimed ‘Thundersteel’. Although the faces might have looked unfamiliar, with only guitarist MARK REALE now left from the band’s formative years, the aggression and musicianship remained unrivalled and unchallengeable. With TONY MOORE’s distinctive vocals, the muscle and might of bassist DON VAN STAVERN and drummer BOBBY JARZOMBEK powering the songs along, and Reale’s precision playing RIOT were reborn, and followed ‘Thundersteel’ two years later with the jaw-dropping ‘The Privilege Of Power’, an inspiring and at times truly epic album. However, by this time the music world was turning into a very different place, and RIOT found themselves struggling against a tide of apathy. Reale continued to guide the ship through the next two decades, delivering albums of consistent, quality metal, culminating in 2006’s ‘Army Of One’ – a true statement of intent, as if one were needed.
But the army of one is an army of five once more as RIOT‘s classic ‘Thundersteel’ and ‘Privilege…’ line-up has re-united, adding guitarist MIKE FLYNTZ who played in the live band at that time. Signing with SPV/Steamhammer for all territories except Japan, RIOT will release their new album “Immortal Soul” on October 28th in Germany, October 31st in Europe and early November in the US and Canada.
RIOT have also been confirmed as special guests on the first leg of HAMMERFALL’s European tour this winter. The tour kicks off on 26th October in Copenhagen, Denmark, and ends for the five-piece metal machine in Cologne, Germany, on 18th November. This will be the first time the legendary ‘Thundersteel’ and ‘The Privilege Of Power’ line-up of TONY MOORE (vocals), MARK REALE (guitar), MIKE FLYNTZ (guitar), DON VAN STAVERN (bass) and BOBBY JARZOMBEK (drums) has played in Europe on a full tour, after the band’s celebrated one-off show at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2009.
Olly Hahn, A&R at Steamhammer, says: “Mark, Tony, Don, Bobby and Mike are really fired up once more, and “Immortal Soul” will be a true successor to the legacy of ‘Thundersteel’ and ‘Privilege…’. Classic metal will never die, and who did it better than RIOT?”

After a year of non-stop touring and promoting their sophomore album, Rollin’, Texas Hippie Coalition recently headed into the studio to give a song from the album a little shake-up. The song, Beg (The 420 Recording), has been re-recorded and remastered, giving it a completely different sound from the original version, as featured as the closing track on Rollin’.
“While on tour, playing songs from the album night after night, one of the tunes from Rollin’ began to shift forms,” says vocalist Big Dad Ritch. “So we went into the studio between shows and re-recorded Beg – taking a different approach this time. It turned out even better than we expected, and the label decided to throw it’s weight behind the track and get it out to the fans.”
THC guitarist, Randy Cooper, adds, “The song is a favorite from the album. Fans so far have really dug the 420 version at our shows.”
Beg (The 420 Recording) has already garnered early radio spins at KXTQ in Spokane and KQYK in Mankato. Also be on the look-out for Texas Hippie Coalition as they continue to live on the road.
The new single, Beg (The 420 Recording) is available digitally at iTunes and Amazon.

Puddle Of Mudd’s version of The Rolling Stones classic “Gimme Shelter” is the first single from their forthcoming album, Re:(disc)overed. The track is currently streaming on SoundCloud and is available for purchase on iTunes. The band’s new album, Re:(disc)overed, lands on August 30th but is available for pre-order on Amazon now. For this release, Puddle Of Mudd dig back into their own past for the songs that turned them on to becoming musicians in the first place.
Re:(disc)overed includes such classics as AC/DC’s “TNT,” Steve Miller’s “The Joker,” Elton John’s “Rocket Man,” the Stevie Nicks/Tom Petty duet “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” (which Puddle Of Mudd recorded with BC Jean), Neil Young’s “Old Man,” and of course the first single, “Gimmie Shelter.” The album finds Puddle Of Mudd tackling classic rock songs as only they know how.
“Our goal in interpreting these songs was to pay more tribute rather than reinvent,” Phillips added. “These are all classics that are perfect in every sense, so who are we to mess with that? We just wanted to represent them in their true form and add a little of our sound to them. We cut everything with very few takes and tried to keep it very live like those old seventies records. We didn’t want to Pro Tool the hell out of it.”
Puddle Of Mudd will take part in the Rock Allegiance Tour kicks off August 24th in Grand Prairie, TX. Fans can see the full list of tour dates as well as purchase tickets over at http://rockallegiance.com/dates.
