That Fastway debut album is 200% classic. No, 500% classic. I’m happy to hear and see that Fast Eddie Clarke is still Rockin’. I do dig this song too… yet it’s difficult to top the vintage Fastway.
I will buy this new Fastway… and drift back to those days when getting out of high school was my only stress. \m/
I’ve been a huge Fastway fan since the debut (and a Motorhead fan before that!). That being said – I’m not really moved by any of the samples or the full length song. It pains me to say that, because I was desperately hoping it would be Fastway. It sounds more like an older Motorhead album to me.
If you’re looking for We Become One or Say What You Will, it ain’t here.
The samples sound slow and laborious. That’s not Fastway. Fastway had an energy and upbeat tempo to it, in general. This seems like an attempt to sound more current, more hip. I can appreciate that, but when are these guys gonna learn? I don’t want Fast Eddie’s interpretation of today’s music – I want classic Fastway. This ain’t it.
One last point – Fastway and Fast Eddie is (was) known for catchy licks and memorable hooks, neither of which I heard here. This seems to be a problem for most artists these days – it seems like they’re content with simply ‘going through the motions’ of playing some non-descript chords and just playing a song.
Think Iron Maiden – first 4 or 5 albums were astonishing (like the first Fastway). Unfortunately, Iron Maiden has been putting out the same album for 15 years…. :^(
