2 Drowning Pool Parts Ways With Ryan McCombs

All-American anthemic rockers Drowning Pool announced today that they will be parting ways with their current singer, Ryan McCombs. The hard working Texas band, who has worked with 3 singers in their 10 year career, issued the following statement:
“We have always been a band who has gained success despite having multiple singers…maybe we suffer from reverse ‘lead singer’s disease,” said C.J. Pierce. “Changing things up has not always been easy, but the band has become re-energized time and time again. We are looking to find a new singer who will give both us and, and most importantly our fans, the new adrenaline shot they deserve.” He went on to say, “We do wish Ryan great success in his future endeavors.” McCombs, who had been part of the band since 2006, replaced singer Jason Jones, who joined Drowning Pool following the tragic passing of Dave Williams.
Drowning Pool turned the world into believers with their breakthrough single “Bodies” in 2001. Ten years, three singers and four albums later, they’re giving fans a new reason to believe. “Feel Like I Do,” the lead single from their self-titled fourth studio release [Eleven Seven Music], became the band’s biggest radio hit to date, reaching No. 2 at Active Rock Radio, and remaining in the Top 5 for 12-weeks. With 2009’s “37 Stitches” off of Full Circle reaching #4 at Active Rock and “Feel Like I Do,” the band had 2 consecutive Top 5 Active Rock smashes and cemented their place as one of the top hard rock acts today. The band’s sophomore album, Desensitized with second singer Jason Jones spawned a Top 10 hit with “Step Up.” Recent successes have paved the way for unique opportunities such as presenting the Lane Evans Mental Health Care Reform to then-senator Barack Obama on Capitol Hill, performing for our troops all over the world and partnering with organizations like The Wounded Warrior Project and the G.I. Film Festival.
Drowning Pool is currently looking to find a suitable replacement for McCombs. In the meantime, they have already begun writing their 5th studio album in their hometown of Dallas.
Drowning Pool is C.J. Pierce – guitar/ vocals, Stevie Benton – bass/vocals, and Mike Luce – drums/vocals.
0 Sinner – One Bullet Left (2011)
Any time that a band covers a much beloved, obscure 80s metal song like “Atomic Playboys,” they are bound to get my attention. Such is the case with Sinner who’s latest release, One Bullet Left, is some solid rock and roll in the vein of glamorous heavy metal. Rocking the world since 1982, Sinner is a veteran hard rock act that hasn’t received a ton of attention outside their home country of Germany. While they’ve always been a big hit in Europe, their success never translated over to the states, which is a shame. Sinner is a solid hard rock band and their latest effort, One Bullet Left, is an enjoyable record, especially if you are tired of all the same whiny modern rock that currently rules the US airways.
The title track on One Bullet Left is a foot stomping, hard rocking, heavy beating, good time song. With a sing-along, chanting chorus and some wicked leads by guitarist Christof Leim, “One Bullet Left” is pure fun. Isn’t that what music is supposed to be anyway—a muse that puts a smile on your face? Once you are singing along with Sinner on “One Bullet Left,” you’ll be grinning from ear to ear.
Sinner’s cover of “Atomic Playboys,” originally done by Steve Stevens in 1989, is magnificent. Sinner’s version of the song is a perfect replica of the original, an homage to the art of an amazing tune that never got it’s recognized due. Sinner performs this deep classic to perfection and it was a real treat hearing this song covered properly. Sinner gets their due for replicating such an obscure, yet enjoyable, metal treat.
Although he’s been leading the microphone since the early 80s, lead vocalist Mat Sinner still sounds like a young, hungry rocker at heart. His voice has not deteriorated over the decades, and while he won’t wow you with overpowering metal scream high notes, his dark, gritty voice is a perfect complement to the hard rock music that the band lays out. Doubling as the bassist (and lead songwriter) for the band keeps Mat Sinner very busy. One Bullet Left is mostly his creation, and it’s a good one. It’s been three years since the band’s last release, but the wait for a new album was worth it. Sinner has delivered a rocking record.
Overall, One Bullet Left is a solid album for fans of hard rock. If you are seeking out a banging album that isn’t overplayed and mainstream, then veteran act Sinner’s One Bullet Left is a disc you will enjoy. Their latest album is a hard rocking good time for the ears. It’s definitely worth a few listens.

2 Thin Lizzy, Black Label Society & Judas Priest Photo Gallery – U.S. Bank Arena -Cincinnati, Ohio – November 8th, 2011

Thin Lizzy, Black Label Society & Judas Priest invaded Cincinnati’s U.S. Bank Arena on November 8th. Check out our Photo Gallery, & mini review below.
Thin Lizzy which is now fronted by The Almighty’s Ricky Warwick, sounded amazing. Warwick’s vocals are very similar to the late Phillip Lynott, and he does an excellent job. Damon Johnson (Brother Cane, Alice Cooper Band) is the bands newest guitarist replacing Vivian Campbell, and Richard Fortus. He seems to fit in quite well. I have never seen Thin Lizzy before, and was amazed at how good they sounded. I was thrilled to see this classic band in action. They lineup has changed several times over the years, but Thin Lizzy still rocks.
Black Label Society put on one of the loudest shows in recent memory. I am pretty sure the folks eating wings at Hooters in Newport, KY (that is down the river from U.S. Bank Arena) could hear Zakk Wylde & company. Black Label Society’s sound guy must have had all of their amps set at maximum volume. The only problem with this was, Zakk’s vocals were inaudible. I know all of Black Label Society’s music, and I could watch Zakk Wylde & company play all night. Wylde is a killer guitarist, and as much as I love his playing, I like his vocals even more. I was disappointed that I couldn’t hear them. Aside from that, Black Label Society sounded great.
Judas Priest took the stage and proceeded to play for over two hours. They covered songs from just about every facet of their career. The Metal God, Rob Halford is still getting it done in 2011. The 60 year old front man, may not be able to hit all of the notes he used to, but he still sounds great. Ritchie Faulkner who has replaced the retired KK Downing on lead guitar, not only looks the part, but does an amazing job. KK Downing will always be missed, but Faulkner has injected new life into Judas Priest. The Judas Priest set included the following songs: “Rapid Fire”, “Metal Gods”, “Heading Out to the Highway”, “Judas Rising”,”Starbreaker”, “Victim of Changes”, “Never Satisfied”, “Diamonds & Rust”, “Dawn Of Creation”, “Prophecy”, “Night Crawler”, “Turbo Lover”, “Beyond the Realms of Death”, “The Sentinel”, “Blood Red Skies”, “The Green Manalishi (With the Two Pronged Crown)”, “Breaking the Law”, “Painkiller”, “The Hellion”, “Electric Eye”, “Hell Bent for Leather”, “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin'” and “Living After Midnight”.
This is Judas Priest’s Epitaph tour, meaning the band will not longer do world tours from here on out. There was only four – five thousand in attendance at the Cincinnati show, which I though was extremely disappointing. This may be the last time we get to see Judas Priest perform in our area. Judas Priest put on an excellent that was a feast for the ears & the eyes. The show filled with pyro, lasers, and more importantly some legendary metal tunes played to perfection.
There are only a few tour dates left on the Epitaph tour. If you live in one of the areas below, you should definitely get a ticket for this show.
30 November 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre, Tampa
1 December Klipsch Amphitheatre at Bayfront Park, Miami, FL
3 December Hard Rock Biloxi Hotel & Casino, Biloxi

0 UNDERCODE 2011 Comeback and Collaboration with Croteam on Serious Sam 3: BFE Thrills Headbangers and Gamers Worldwide

After six years of silence, Croatian heavy metal outfit UNDERCODE is back! Widely considered one of the most promising propositions on the Croatian Heavy Metal scene in the late 90’s and early 2000’s is reunited and back in action.
Few months after the release of their debut album “Enlightening the World” in 2002., UNDERCODE’s music was included in the soundtrack of mega successful FPS game “Serious Sam — The Second Encounter”.
Considered a classic game amongst PC gaming enthusiasts, Serious Sam provided a platform for the bands introduction to a global audience. Interestingly, whilst Serious Sam was a worldwide gaming sensation, the albums limited distribution in Australia, only added to the bands cult status abroad.
In 2005. the band made a decision to make a long break which lasted 6 years.
This year, members of UNDERCODE’s Russian fan-site asked the band to re-unite, which was a spark that led to the reunion.
Damir comments: “You can imagine our shock after 6 years to find that people were not only listening to our music, but calling for a second album. It’s very humbling to know that your music lives on years after you had all but labelled it as a pleasant memory. This was the main reason we decided to reunite the band”.
Coincidentally, Serious Sam III BFE was in production at the same time that the band was considering a comeback. Upon receiving information that UNDERCODE would not be included in the upcoming game, Vladimir Remezov and other fans from the Russian fan-site (www.undercode.ru) organised an online petition to CroTeam and Devolver. This subsequently led to the inclusion of UNDERCODE in the new game soundtrack, featuring two new tracks “The Gladiator” and “Final Fight”.
Much to the delight of the loyal fans, bass player Marko Karacic Karo, lead guitarist Ivan Speljak Jitz, drummer Marijo Jakopovic Brko and lead singer Damir Ljubicic (aka Damien) made a surprise appearance at InBar club ( Zagreb) in July 2011. In following weeks, UNDERCODE spent most of their time laying tracks to their long awaited follow-up album “Postapocalyptic”. The album is currently in final production, with an expected release mid 2012.
The official launch of the Final Fight film clip was scheduled for 22nd November 2011, the same day when SERIOUS SAM 3 — BFE stormed the stores.

4 Andy Timmons Band Plays Sgt. Pepper (2011)
The Beatles album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is such an iconic release, it would almost seem sacrilegious to try to reproduce or cover it. When I first ready about Any Timmons latest release, I was more than leery of him covering such a monstrous album. I have been a fan of Andy’s since his days with Danger Danger, so needless to say, I had to check it out.
First and foremost, Andy Timmons Band plays Sgt. Pepper is an instrumental album. There is no singer to mess things up, and that works well in Timmons favor. The music is so good, you may find yourself singing along anyway.
Timmons guitar tones on this CD would make Eddie Van Halen, and Joe Satriani proud. His speed and technique are excellent. You can tell that Timmons truly loves this music, and put his heart into this recording. I really like his take on these Beatles classics. Some songs have a somewhat harder edge than the originals, but are highly listenable, and very enjoyable. The song “When I’m Sixty Four” has an almost rockabilly feel to it.
An interesting song that is included in this set is “Strawberry Fields Forever,” which was originally intended to be released on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, but was later released as a single, and then on the Magical Mystery Tour EP. To me, this song is a cut above the rest, and is just a pure pleasure to listen to.
You can purchase Andy Timmons Band Plays Sgt. Pepper at this link. This CD will appeal to all fans of great guitar rock, and Beatles fans alike. Don’t miss out on one of the best instrumental albums of 2011!! For more information on this release and Andy Timmons, please visit this website.

3 New DOKKEN Album Coming in 2012!

Frontiers Records is excited to announce the signing of DOKKEN for the worldwide release of the band’s forthcoming studio album in the spring of 2012.
The cooperation between Frontiers and DOKKEN started with the release of the band’s CD « Lightning Strikes Again » in 2007. The album marked a return to DOKKEN’s signature style with melodic hooklines and blazing guitar riffs that epitomized the band’s sound on such records as Tooth & Nail, Under Lock & Key, Back for the Attack and Dysfunctional .
“So far we have written 10 songs in only 8 weeks” says singer Don Dokken. “Usually we spend a year or more on our music. I can’t explain why this time it came so fast, it just happened. So far the music is very uptempo and heavy, of course we know our fans like the classic DOKKEN sound and this is where our new music is headed. It’s been a band of brothers doing what we love : ‘music’ “.
DOKKEN plans to finish their new recording by the end of February and go out on the road in june. “In a perfect world we would like to release the new album before the summer and then play the festivals in Europe. Then hopefully we can jump on a package tour in the US, ” tells Don Dokken. “We want to give everyone a great CD that will keep all music fans Rokkin’ during these troubled times !”
DOKKEN is now formed by Don Dokken on lead vocals, Jon Levin on guitar, Sean McNabb on bass and Mick Brown on drums.
Formed in 1978, Dokken is one of the bands that defined the American Hard Rock trademark sound of the 80’s. They have been nominated for a Grammy Award in 1989 and sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Their next album will be their 11th original studio release.

0 New Video – Sister – Bullshit & Backstabbing

SISTER launched a brand new music video for “Bullshit and Backstabbing”! Tour with U.D.O. and SISTER SIN to kick off this week!
Swedish sleaze and punk influenced metal band SISTER have just released their second music video off their brand new album HATED for the track Bullshit and Backstabbing!
Check it out below!
Here’s what the band had to say about their new video: “The video for “Bullshit and Backstabbing” is the first video we’ve done with a crew behind the cameras. The song is a favourite of the album HATED for all of us in the band and it felt right to make a video of it. We found a greasy spot to shoot it at and got to work. Like always we wanted to keep it on a basic level and just do a video with what Sister is all about Just deliver the punk rock we’ve always done. This is what we do and the video crew Bröderna Blom and Tinnerholm got it down and made it sick. Check it!
Ps No animals were seriously harmed during the shooting of this video!”
Make sure to also check out the video from the acoustic session SISTER did for Rock It TV! Just click HERE! There´s also a video interview Chris from Rock It TV did with SISTER! Click HERE!
SISTER, who hails from Stockholm/Jönkoping Sweden, formed in early 2006 working hard to build up a name as a strong act both live and in the studio. SISTER consists of 4 members- Jamie on vocals, Lestat on guitars and backing vocals, Rikki on bass and backing vocals, and Cari on drums and backing vocals- who combine the sounds of Punk, Glam, Rock, and Metal with an end result sounding something like the bastard child of GG Allin and Guns N’ Roses.

0 BEYOND THE BRIDGE Debut With A Strong Musical Statement “The Old Man And The Spirit”; Audio Samples Available!

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing of BEYOND THE BRIDGE, a new Progressive Metal band from Germany, for the release of their debut album “The Old Man and the Spirit” on January 20th 2012 in Europe and January 24th in North America.
“The Old Man and the Spirit” is an ambitious concept album dealing with the polarity of human sensuousness and superhuman awareness. Two main characters interpret the music on this theatrical and challenging record: “the Spirit”, who is the personification of all wisdom and awareness that is unachievable to mankind but that lacks of the ability to feel, and her opponent “the Old Man”: a bon vivant who has lived through all highs and lows of human sensations. These two characters are interpreted by the two band singers: a female Dilenya Mar and a male Herbie Langhans.
But the operatic and cinematic setting of the album was put together by the two bands’ masterminds: guitar player Peter Degenfeld and the classically trained ivory tinkler Christopher Tarnow. “From the beginning it was our intention to do an album presenting one big piece of music” tells Degenfeld. “One of the very first things that came about were the two characters together with the basic content of the story. Basically before the notes were written, we knew what each song had to sound and feel like and what the lyrics had to say. With these restrictions we started the songwriting process. In the end writing songs under these self-imposed limits turned out to be just great”.
While “The Old Man and The Spirit” is undoubtedly a demanding musical statement, Beyond The Bridge are determined to make their steps to bring their music on tour. “We put a lot of effort into the goal of creating the studio sound on stage and we have already rearranged some parts to make them more suitable for live performances”, explains Degenfeld.
Beyond The Bridge line-up is rounded up by bass player Dominik Stotzem, Fabian Maier on drums and Simon Oberender on keyboards and guitar. Simon also took care of the album production at the famed Gate Studios (owned by the famed producer Sascha Paeth, who mastered the album).
While at first listen the album will easily appeal to the Progressive Rock / Metal audience, thanks to the virtuosity displayed in the playing and the compositional design, the album can be easily enjoyed by all who are looking for songs that can excite the listeners. “The music is touching. It will even touch you in a different way each time you listen to the album”, concludes Peter Degenfeld. “The lyrics are inspiring and ambiguous. This encourages to dig deeper into the spiritual journey of the “Old Man”.

“The Old Man and The Spirit” includes the following songs: The Call; The Apparition; Triumph Of Irreality; The Spring Of It All; World Of Wonders; The Primal Demand; Doorway To Salvation; The Struggle; The Difference Is Human; Where The Earth And Sky Meet; All A Man Can Do.
The song “The Apparition” can be streamed in full on the Frontiers Records webradio www.frontiers.it/webradio and on the band’s official website.

7 Gotthard Announces New Singer; Free Download & Video Released for New Song “Remember Me”
Dear GOTTHARD Fans – it gives us great pleasure to announce that we have found a new singer. The successor to Steve Lee, who was killed in a tragic accident last year, is Nic Maeder and is Swiss-born. Nic was born in 1971 in Lausanne, lived in Melbourne, Australia and grew up between Switzerland and “Down Under”.
“Nic not only has a great voice and is a fantastic musician, but we also have a great person in our midst”, says Leo. “We can rock again at last”.
During the months after the decision to carry on was taken, we received a huge amount of applications from all over the world; it was really overwhelming! At this point we would really like to thank everyone, especially the candidates, to whom we were not able to send a personal message. Thank you for your understanding and we wish all of you lots of luck and success in the future!
“The search took a long time but it was clear to all of us when we met Nic that he was the right guy. With him we can enjoy the music again and celebrate new success,” states Hena. “I’m really happy that we are continuing”.
The final decision for Nic Maeder was unanimous. “We noticed straight away that the chemistry, both musically and personally, was right. For us, he is the new member of the family”, says Freddy.
Nic Maeder, who besides his singing position also plays guitar and piano, is a very talented and creative person. His songwriting ability also means he fits perfectly into the Gotthard family. He is the missing piece in the puzzle.
“Music has been my companion all my life and always was an important part of it. It is a great feeling to be able to share in the birth of a song and to see how it keeps growing. I can experience that with GOTTHARD and it makes me happy. I am making music with friends,” says Nic Maeder.
Of course you can write a lot about a new singer, but in the end there is nothing better than seeing and hearing him sing. We therefore decided to produce a song plus video as a thank you to our fans, which can be downloaded free of charge. It is dedicated to all our Fans who didn’t lose their faith and trust in GOTTHARD. You have supported us with all your strength during the past months. Thank you so much!
Marc “With Nic, we have taken the right decision for GOTTHARD. A lot of courage is needed to step into the footsteps of such a great singer. For that, Nic has earned our respect. Let’s never forget this and make Nic welcome in the family.
We are in the studio at the moment and are working with renewed energy and enthusiasm on songs for a new album, which will be released in the spring of 2012… keep on rocking!!!

“The World’s Greatest Flamenco Sleaze Glam Rock ‘N’ Roll band Ever!” is back with a new album collating some of their biggest hits so far alongside new material. Combining their truly unique mix of flamenco rumba which gleefully collides with old school punk and rock ‘n’ roll riffs, the GYPSY PISTOLEROS’ first release on
Heavy Metal Records, “FOREVER WILD, BEAUTIFUL AND DAMNED! GREATEST HITS VOLUME 1” is slated for release in March 2012.
This greatest hits collection will be mixed and produced by the legendary Joe Gibb (Jane’s Addiction, Funeral for a Friend) at the Mighty Atom Studios. Having proved popular with fans across the UK, US and Europe, the band’s signature pounding bass and thrashing drum sound and liberal use of flamenco breaks make the PISTOLEROS more than just a glam band with big hooks, attitude and sleaze – they make them a completely unique listening experience. Since forming in 2005, the band have built up a large and fiercely loyal fan base that has closely followed the GYPSY PISTOLEROS through a tumultuous couple of years. From seeing the band almost sign deals and abort plans for a live album, the only thing missing is new song or two…… But the wait for new music is over!
The GYPSY PISTOLEROS then found themselves making history by being the only band to be invited to play at all five of the massive Oklahoma-based Rocklahoma Rock festivals since 2007, where they played alongside the likes of Motley Crue, Poison and Whitesnake. The band is currently gearing up to tour with L.A. Guns; more details will be announced in the near future.
GYPSY PISTOLEROS consist of founding members Lee and Iggie Pistolero alongside Jeff (Pistolero) Williams and Kenny K Doll.

0 Dynazty to Record Album #3 with Renowned Producer Peter Tägtgren!

Swedish hard rocks Dynazty has issued the following update:
We are very proud to announce that we will enter The Abyss studio together with renowned producer Peter Tägtgren in december 2011 to record our third album. This is indeed very exciting for us! Since Tägtgren is known for producing VERY heavy stuff, we think that this collaboration can take us to a new level, and maybe even a new, more modern direction.
We’ve been writing songs for a couple of months now, and we are confident that the new material will blow you away! The album is scheduled for release in the first half of 2012. As soon as we have a more exact date, we’ll let you know! As usual, the studio madness will be documented in our (in)famous video blogs.
Cheers!
/ Joey, Love, Nils, George & Mike

2 ACCEPT Names New Album Stalingrad

ACCEPT’s fifteen year break from the music business only served as a distant warning to the 2010 thunderous return of ACCEPT to the metal forefront. Sweat soaked, table-sized club shows and triumphant appearances at the biggest rock festivals around the world created an excitement long not seen in the metal community. It was only natural that ACCEPT’s comeback album Blood Of The Nations entered the charts at #4, the band’s highest entry in their legendary career! In addition, Blood Of The Nations charted high in countless other countries and cemented itself at #1 in many Reader Polls for a continuous 14 months! Accolades like “Album of the Year”, “Metal Anthem of the Year” and many more kept pouring in. The fans, in admiration of their heroes, flocked in the thousands to their notorious live shows, and Nuclear Blast, their record company, was salivating with satisfaction!
Inspired by their fans’ awe-inspiring reaction to their explosive live shows as well as the grandiose success of the comeback album, the band is now excited to jump right back into the studio and record another collection of heavy metal classics. To be called Stalingrad, the new ACCEPT album is scheduled to be released via Nuclear Blast Records in the spring of 2012. It will once again be produced by English star producer Andy Sneap who has long become a part of the ACCEPT family.
As the saying goes… no rest for the wicked! Following the release of Stalingrad, ACCEPT will continue their unstoppable, Teutonic Terror in 2012 and beyond, invading stages from North to South, from East to West, leaving all nonbelievers in their metallic dust!
HRH Note: 2012 is shaping up to be a big release year for the big legacy hard rock & metal acts. Already on the slate is Accept, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, KISS and Van Halen. Who is next?!
0 2006 Videos – The Answer – Under The Sky

I am not sure when the whole revival rock scene started, but The Answer is certainly one of the most successful one of those bands to date. “Under The Sky” is from The Answer’s excellent debut album, Rise. Check out the video clip below!
0 Disturbed – The Lost Children (2011)
After a decade of music, and five albums to their credit, Disturbed has amassed a good bunch of “b-sides”, rarities, cover tunes. The band has finally put them all on one album, The Lost Children, for their fans to enjoy.
Some of the songs on The Lost Children are better than the majority of the tunes on Disturbed’s previous release, Asylum, but some I can also see why some tunes were b-sides.
The album opener “Hell” is pretty good, and one of the better tunes on the album. I could live the rest of my life without hearing “A Welcome Burden” again. This former b-side from The Sickness probably should have stayed in the Disturbed vaults. “This Moment” was originally on the CD, Transformers: The Album. It is a solid tune, but not one of my favorites.
“Run” and “Parasite” are both b-sides from my favorite Disturbed album, Indestructible. Both songs have that classic Disturbed sound with with David Draiman’s chant like vocal delivery.
The album’s only unreleased tune “Mine” has a creepy intro that would be right at home in a Saw movie. It is an interesting listen with its intertwined news audio clips. I completely understand why this wasn’t released before now though. It just doesn’t seem to fit in with Disturbed’s previous releases.
The Lost Children concludes with two back to back cover tunes. Disturbed blasts out faithful versions of Faith No More’s “Midlife Crisis” and Judas Priest’s “Living After Midnight”. They do a good job on both songs, but don’t really add any Disturbedism’s to the songs.
With Disturbed taking a well deserved break in their touring and recording schedule, The Lost Children may be the last Disturbed release to hit the streets for a few years.
The Lost Children stands up as a decent follow up to Asylum, and is worth picking up if you are one of the Disturbed.

1 2006 Videos – Buckcherry – Crazy Bitch

Buckcherry’s comeback effort in 2006, “15” was a massive return for the band that was fueled by their single “Crazy Bitch”. This song still gets a ton of airplay in 2011,and will continue to do so in years to come. Check out the video clip for “Crazy Bitch” below.
