What is Rockin’ Your Friday?
My play list is always diverse…… diverse in a hard rock sense. I never venture out of the rock world as there is TOO much great music, old & new to listen to. I pride myself on the fact that I have never listened to a Lady Gaga song, or any of the crap that is force fed down the throats of radio listeners.
This week I have been listening to the Electric Boys album, And Them Boys Done Swang a ton. This one still sounds great months after its release, and I am convinced that is best album they have ever done. “All Lips and Hips” might have put them on the map, but this is the album you should be listening to! I saw a brief blurb last night that is album is soon be slated for an official U.S. Release. That is great news for rock fans everywhere!
I just received the new Wallner/Vain CD in the mail, and will be posting a review soon. This CD rocks! In fact, it rocks so much, I had to break out my copy of Blue Murder’s debut CD. (Carmine Appice and Tony Franklin play on the Wallner/Vain CD) I have been giving that one a few spins as well.
I have still been giving Alice Cooper’s Welcome 2 My Nightmare quite a few plays. I know a lot of folks have mixed feelings about this CD, but I love it.
Two of the CD’s I have been listening to in the car this week are Deep Purple’s Slaves & Masters, and ZZ Top’s Recycler. I have also broke out some classic Def Leppard….. High N’ Dry, On Through the Night, and Pyromania.
What has been rockin’ your Friday, and your play lists this week?
Was also curious if you have any tour date news and information on Tokyo Blade, Warrior Soul, and House of Lords? Am also wondering if you can shed any light on the turmoil between Jack Russell and the other members of Great White? Also, have you heard anything about Tony Harnell & Roni Letekro of TNT? Am wondering what they are up to and, if there is a possibility of them releasing something as strong as Knights Of The New Thunder or, Tell No Tales?
Great White put a pretty strict set of rules in front of Jack, before he returned to Great White. They don’t think he is ready to return, and Jack does. Needless to say, Jack is carrying on as Jack Russell’s Great White.
Tony Harnell is no longer involved in TNT. He is doing his solo thing. Tony Mills (Shy) is there new singer. Their last album was pretty decent. Check this link out: http://hardrockhideout.com/2011/05/03/new-video-tnt-refugee/
No word on Tokyo Blade or House of Lords.
Well sir, I had a very diverse musical upbringing. I was raised on everything from the Beatles to Cream, the MC 5, to Santana & Procol Harum. However, I graduated high school in the mid eighties and follow everything from Raining Blood from Slayer to L.A. Guns debut disc and more. Had the pleasure of witnessing Thin Lizzy, Black Label Society, and Judas Priest share the same stage a few weeks back. Listened to Godsmack & Dark Tranquility on the way to work & am finishing up my evening with “Try Me” by UFO. I love Strangers In the Night as well as Michael Schenker who I have only seen one time in Portland a few years back.
Very cool assortment you have listened to this past week Rockitt! Well, here is an abbreviated list: Revocation “Chaos Of Forms”, Lamb Of God “Resolution”, Pharaoh “Bury The Light”, Lacuna Coil “Dark Adrenaline” assorted Primal Fear and any and all Orange Goblin.
I pulled out “MirrorBall” this past week, so I understand your Def Leppard craving. 🙂
I did buy Jim Croce “You Don’t Mess Around With Jim” on CD cause he was an amazing “man of song”. I found it on vinyl a few weeks ago in MINT shape too, for 50 cents at a thrift store. LOL I am such a nerd. 😮
How is the new Lacuna Coil Stone? I have been thinking about checking that one out!
“Dark Adrenaline” is both melodic and dark (lyrically)… the title isn’t lying there! I’m really enjoying this one very much, I feel you will dig this album. Any negative reviews out there are “obviously” from people who have never listened to Lacuna Coil before.
One review questioned why there are “2” lead singers! Another review refused to call Lacuna Coil… Metal. LOL and Metal be thy name! :O
Seeing as my buddy and I got VIP M3 tickets today, had to fire up Warrant’s Rockaholic!
I grabbed a pair of tix to M3 as well! You may see the HRH crew there!
Sent from my Nokia phone
As I type this, I’m listening to Miracle Man – Ozzy. One of the tastier riffs of all time. Who didn’t hear that riff for the first time and say, “WTF????”. What happened to Zakk. :^(
And as I close this out, my playlist just served up “Feel Me, Touch Me” from Fastway. Don’t make ’em like that anymore. Certainly not on the new Fastway, anyway…..(sorry, Eddie….)
Well Rob, as you know from listening to my radio shows, my musical tastes are all over the place. 🙂 Today, I have been
listening to a leaked copy of Van halen’s new album. if you haven’t heard it yet, it’s actually not bad at all — lots of
fast hard rockin’ tunes. I’ll definitely be buying it on Tuesday. also, I just bought an amazing album from an Iraqie
American jazz trumpeter named Amir ElSaffar. His latest album is called Inana, and it’s a mind-blowing musical excursion —
combining jazz with traiditional Middle eastern instruments and scales. I know at some point this weekend I’ll throw on the
headphones, and really get lost in that album.
I stasted listening to Blessed by a broken heart – Feel the power today. Not bad
I will guarantee that anyone that puts on the “Rollin'” album by Texas Hippie Coalition first thing in the morning will have a great day. I listened to it on the way to work and have it banging in my office now. Another masterpiece that is always great for Friday is the Skid Row “Slave to the Grind” album. Might be the most underrated hard rock album of all time.
HELLOWEEN, The keeper cd’s, some new SIXX A.M., pop evil and Sonic syndicate and some MSG…the McAuley years.
Chris, did you see that Schenker is doing some shows with Robin McAuley in the U.S.?
Yes I did! That’s what made me pull out the CD’s, Then I went on youtube to check out the last CD they did together cuz I don’t have that one and man! I’m picking that one up! They put out three solid CD’s. Oh I fogot to mention I’ve been listening to Paul Stanley’s ’78 solo album too….Very underrated in my mind, It’s one of those when you haven’t heard it in awhile, you forget how awesome it is.
🙂 I have been giving Ace Frehley’s Anomally album a few spins too.
I think if we really look at it our play lists they are a reflection of our musical pasts. At least mine is. Starting with my first love-The Beatles, I can trace how my musical tastes have evolved over the years to the point where I’m now listening to bands like Tool, Mastodon, and Pelican. It’s a great ride through the past!
