Now that JANUS’ hugely successful tour with Chevelle and Middle Class Rut has come to an end, they’ll head right back out on the road for a handful of headlining shows before joining up with Cavo for a month-long trek. It all kicks off with a hometown show in Chicago at the Cubby Bear on March 28. Dates with Cavo begin April 7.
JANUS—singer David Scotney, guitarist Mike Tyranski, bassist Alan Quitman and drummer Johnny Salazar—is touring in support of their highly anticipated sophomore album, NOX AERIS, due out March 27 on REALID Records (through Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group). The album’s first single, “Stains,” has reached the Top 20 on Billboard’s “Active Rock” chart after garnering huge spins on such radio stations as WIIL (Chicago), KPNT (St. Louis), WBUZ (Nashville), WJJO (Madison), WWBN (Flint), KHTQ (Spokane), SiriusXM’s “Octane” and “Hard Drive XL.”
As Outburn magazine recently praised the album (in a 9 out of 10 review): “NOX AERIS is a visceral sonic document of adventure and the transformation that can result…On the surface an emotionally charged blend of Deftones and Tool, NOX AERIS weaves a complex web of ethereal noise. Passages of thick, meat-grinding distortion culminate in Meshuggah style spasms and interlock beautifully with an atmospheric blanket of restrained synths…The catchiness of NOX AERIS is deceptive in masking the album’s unpredictable song structures, which speaks to Janus’ collective growth as writers. Theirs is a nuanced, understated, and powerful heaviness.”

We received the following info regarding the M3 Rock Festival a few mintues ago:
There have been some changes to this year’s M3 line-up and we want to fill you in. Unfortunately, we just learned that Cinderella is unable to perform as their lead guitarist, Jeff LaBar, is currently receiving attention for an unspecified medical condition, and the band will be off the road through mid June. We wish Jeff well.
We are glad to report, however, that we’ve added LA Guns and Great White to the bill – and there’s another exciting addition. There will be an unforgettable M3 All-Star Jam with many artists from this year’s festival joining onstage, showcasing their talents in this one-time only epic event.
We look forward to seeing you May 11 and 12th!
If you have any questions regarding this change, you can reach us via email at email@example.com. Please include the name of the event and your confirmation number in all correspondences.
On March 20th, the Spring Equinox 2012, the title music for Lucifer Rising and Other Sound Tracks will have its premiere and release.
The title music, along with other musical pieces recorded at my home studio in the early Seventies, have been revisited, remixed and released for the first time.
This is a musical diary of avant-garde compositions and experiments, one of which was to appear on the film Lucifer Rising.
The collection has been exhumed and is now ready for public release.
There will be a standard release on heavyweight vinyl.
In addition there will be a special run of 418 numbered copies. The first 93 copies will be signed and numbered.
There are liner notes and commentary to each track. The tracks are:
1) Lucifer Rising – Main Track
4) Damask – Ambient
5) Lucifer Rising – Percussive Return
You can only purchase this from the Jimmy Page website at this link.
Gothic metallers PARADISE LOST are well known for their intense videos from their two previous albums. “The Enemy” from the 2007 album In Requiem was shot on the Crimea peninsula and caused some problems with TV companies due to the execution scenes. The video for the title track of Faith Divides Us, Death Unites Us from 2009 was even more disturbing with its scenes of physical and emotional abuse. The brand new “Honesty In Death” video from the band’s upcoming album, Tragic Idol, keeps this tradition. Watch the new video here:
Greg Mackintosh (guitar) comments: “We are very excited about the premiere of our ‘Honesty In Death’ video. In my opinion it is the best video we have ever done. Matt Green, who I had previously worked with on the VALLENFYRE ‘Cathedrals of Dread’ video, directed it. He did such a great job with VALLENFYRE that we knew he would be able to do something really special for PARADISE LOST. The result is a very powerful, but very grim short film with brief cameos by the band, that is sure to resonate with people who see it.”
PARADISE LOST’s upcoming album, Tragic Idol, is scheduled for a worldwide release through Century Media Records on April 23rd in Europe and April 24th in North America. More news about PARADISE LOST and Tragic Idol will be announced soon, so stay tuned!
The love and passion for their music has never faltered. Re-charged and re-focused, Great White channels their raw, sweet and all-at-once dangerous sound into their soon-to-be released collection. Set to come out May 18, 2012 in Europe and May 22nd in North America from Frontiers Records, “Elation” is the band’s 12th studio album.
“Elation” thrives on Great White’s signature grit and blues-hued sound, only marked with a new synergy. Featuring co-founder Mark Kendall (guitar), and 28-year-veterans Michael Lardie (guitar, keyboards) and Audie Desbrow (drums), they are joined by lead singer Terry Ilous and bassist Scott Snyder the group emerged unscathed from late 2011 band member changes.
Best known for the 1989 smash “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” Great White’s worldwide sales are approaching 10 million. Their song arsenal also includes “Rock Me,” “Save Your Love,” “The Angel Song,” “Mistabone” and more!
“Elation” is just the recording of what live audiences will see and hear as a band with a new mission. “This is a new birth of the band,” Desbrow says. “I wanted to call the album ‘Tabula Rasa’ which means rebirth, but we went for ‘Elation’ because of the euphoria in the atmosphere. It’s a fresh and healthier start than ever before. I’m like a kid in a candy store.”
Kendall, one of rock’s most notable guitarists, echoed Desbrow’s pure excitement. “The energy in the studio is amazing,” Kendall says. “This is the most excited I’ve been since I was nine-years-old and got my first guitar. It’s remarkable to be doing our third record with Frontiers Records and to feel the love and support from Serafino and his team. They are truly part of the Great White family.”
Lardie, who also served as “Elation”’s producer, applauded the band’s teamwork in the studio. He was struck by the group’s song writing approach and enthusiasm, and assures fans will embrace the record.
“The difference in this studio experience was simple. Everyone was completely present and contributed to the making of this album. As a producer, I feel my part is to get the best out of each of us and I got better than anyone’s best!”
Look out for Shark Tales – The Tell All Book: 30 years of Rock and Roll and Great White rocking in a city near you in 2012!
