To Open and Franchise A New Restaurant Concept For Music Lovers
Dave Furano, Gene Simmons and Michael Zislis celebrate
the launch of their restaurant venture, Rock & Brews
Gene Simmons, rock legend and media mogul, is parlaying his love for music into a new restaurant and entertainment venture called Rock & Brews™. The concept captures the excitement of live concerts in an authentically themed backstage environment including Rock & Brews’ “The Great Wall of Rock,” rock posters and rock art and multiple flat screen televisions.
Rock & Brews serves rock musicians’ favorite foods and highlights an ever-changing, award-winning craft beer selection with hundreds of artisanal breweries featured from around the world.
The first Rock & Brews is scheduled to open just south of Los Angeles International Airport in the beach community of El Segundo, Calif., on April 3. Several others are in the works in the Los Angeles area, including one at Los Angeles International Airport, as well as locations in Denver; Atlanta; Maui, Hawaii; Tokyo; and Los Cabos, Mexico. The expansion plan anticipates the opening of four Rock & Brews in 2012 with aggressive plans for continued expansion worldwide beginning in 2013 and beyond.
Rock & Brews was inspired by Michael Zislis, a notable force on the L.A. restaurant scene, and Dave Furano, a veteran concert promoter, who are Simmons’ partners in the venture.
The Food and Drink
Rock & Brews’ casual American menu features a broad selection of “Opening Acts” appetizers, “VIP” salads, hand-crafted burgers, “Headliner” sandwiches, “Front Row” pizzas and “Encores” desserts. The emphasis is on quality comfort foods that feed the soul as much as the appetite.
With hundreds of craft beers to choose from, craft beer is the top grog at Rock & Brews. More than 40 craft beers are available on tap via a state-of-the-art draft system with hundreds more available in the bottle or can. Selections include lagers, pilsners, pale ales, fruit, malty, hoppy, Belgian, dark, on-deck and bottled beer and a knowledgeable staff to help guests navigate the selection. Red and white wines are also available.
Rock & Brews features multiple large screen televisions that continuously screen concert videos and live recordings of the greatest rock concerts of all time with state-of-the-art sound.
With an ambiance reminiscent of being back stage at a rock event, Rock & Brews features a casual, friendly, energized environment decked out with picnic tables, concert lighting, and retractable projection screens and speakers that create a 360-degree experience. The venue is designed to be family and dog friendly with a play area for kids and a large open-air area where four legged guests can howl to the tunes.
The grand opening of Rock & Brews in El Segundo will feature a private luncheon for returning veterans and a star-studded opening bash that evening hosted by Simmons, Furano and Zislis, benefitting Wounded Warrior Project.
Unavailable and unseen for more than 30 years, Alice Cooper’s macabre masterpiece The Strange Case of Alice Cooper will be released on DVD for the first time on May 22, 2012 from Shout! Factory.
The Strange Case of Alice Cooper is more than a concert film. It is the warped tale of one man’s descent into madness, a theatrical rock ’n’ roll spectacle that could only emerge from the twisted imagination of Alice Cooper.
Recorded live on April 9, 1979, in San Diego, California during a stop on the Madhouse Rock Tour, Strange Case was inspired by Alice’s stay in a New York sanitarium and the people he encountered there. Vincent Price introduces the proceedings as ghoulish doctors and transvestite nurses cross paths with dancing bottles of alcohol. All the while, Alice performs songs off his album From The Inside, as well as many of his most well-known and best-loved hits.
A must-have for fans of Alice Cooper and rock music alike, Strange Case will be available in stores nationwide with a suggested retail price of $16.98. The DVD also features an audio commentary by Alice Cooper.
The Strange Case of Alice Cooper Setlist:

Billion Dollar Babies
Only Women Bleed

The Black Widow

Mad Max might not be a familiar name amongst most U.S. rock fans, but maybe they should be. This band has been releasing new music since 1982! They haven’t made a major impact on the U.S. rock scene, but their music is very good, and they are a band worth checking out. I enjoyed Michael Voss’ vocals on the recent Michael Schenker album, Temple of Rock, so I have been looking forward to checking out his band, Mad Max. On their latest album, Another Night of Passion, the band has reunited with their 1987 lineup, to release an album that 80’s hard rock fans are sure to love.
If the Rocklahoma music festival ever needed a theme song, Mad Max has taken care of that with their song “Rocklahoma”. Fans of the music festival need to give this song a listen, you are sure to love it!
Another Night of Passion is packed full of catchy songs with plenty of hooks. Give the songs “40 Rock”, “You Decide” and “Welcome to Rock Bottom” a listen. You will likely be as hooked as I am.
If that is not enough to pique your curiosity, there are also a couple of excellent rockers with the songs, “Metal Edge” and “Back and Alive”. The album closes out on a strong note. with an excellent instrumental track, “True Blue”.
I have been enjoying Another Night of Passion, and I think you will too. Another Night of Passion will be released on March 26th, 2012. You can pre-order it at this link. Don’t miss out on one of the better releases of 2012!

I’ll admit that I haven’t paid much attention to Staind over the last few years. After the release of 14 Shades Of Gray, I found the band heading in an uncertain direction. No longer sure of their voice or where their music was heading, I was disappointed and bored, and thus moved on to other bands. After hearing their latest single, “Eyes Wide Open,” I decided to give the band another chance and picked up a copy of their self-titled release. It was one of the best musical decisions I have made in recent years. Staind have found their current voice and the end result is spectacular.
Still fused fully in the dark side of rock, the recent change for Staind is the bands’ desire to unleash their anger in the music. Whereas past albums were dark and depressing, wondering how to survive the future, their latest disc is filled with fight. Songs like “Wannabe” and “Now” are anthems to haters and doubters that they’d better back off. Staind isn’t going to stand around and be your punching bag. They even take the time to call out those that would download their music for free (i.e. steal it) and then trash it online.
Blending grunge and hardcore rock, Staind’s latest record takes their enjoyable sound to a level not previously achieved. The crisp guitar solos by Mike Mushok obliterate any of his previous work and the structure of each of song is impeccable. “The Bottom” has a striking melody that sounds like a cross between Nine Inch Nails industrial rock and a Poison Power Ballad. It is a beautiful melody punctuated by Lewis’ amazing voice. “Now” is a solid, hard rocking smack in the face complete with finger shredding guitar work worthy of a Mastodon comparison. “Wannabe” is a war cry for the haters to go away and find somewhere else to waste their time. Hearing Staind call out the freeloaders was the highlight of the record.
Staind finds the band pulling no punches, and musically, it finds the band meshing the likes of which they haven’t since the late 90s. This is Staind at the top of their game and it’s a welcome thing of beauty. Lead singer Aaron Lewis’ voice is as powerful as ever. His singing ability has never failed to amaze me and even more so on Staind. Mike Mushok is firing on all cylinders, exploding through blistering guitar solos, and keeping the melodies in perfect harmony with the rest of the music. The rhythm section of Johnny April and Jon Wysocki (no longer a member of the band) round out the music nicely.
Less is more was a theory that the band obviously subscribed to, and it paid huge dividends. While Staind only comes with 10 tracks, each of these masterfully crafted beauties are works of art worthy of cherishing for several years to come. Had I given this record a chance sooner than 2012, it’s possible that it may have cracked my top 10 for 2011. Well, there’s always the top ten for the decade.

11. Wasted In Berlin (feat. Fast Eddie Clarke)
No more endless studio fakes, sound samples, artificial drum overdubs and computer-controlled corrections of suboptimal lead vocals. The time has come to return to the true values of rock music, namely honesty, solid craftsmanship and real lifeblood. To cut a long story short: the time has come for NITROGODS! The motto of this spectacular new rock trio: three men, three corners, and down-to-earth no-bullshit rock’n’roll!
The band may still be unfamiliar to the public at large, but the three members are renowned musicians with illustrious histories to look back on. Guitarist Henny Wolter founded THUNDERHEAD in 1988, played with PRIMAL FEAR and SINNER for number of years and was part of the Rock Meets Classic touring band. Drummer KlausSperling (FREEDOM CALL) was also with PRIMAL FEAR for a long time. And at the epicenter of the NITROGODS soundquake is a heavyweight who is impressive in every respect: Claus “Oimel” Larcher, a bear of a musician whose bass performance stands for sheer power and whose voice unmistakably reflects countless liters of beer and whiskey.
“I wanted to return to playing the music that I love,” says Henny Wolter, “and that only works if you play it with your best friends.”
Fast Eddie Clarke comments on his collaboration with the NITROGODS: “I first met Claus from the NITROGODS in 2005 when I did a benefit gig for the victims of the tsunami in Indonesia. So I was happy to say yes when asked to do a solo on their new album on the track ‘Wasted In Berlin’. I have to say the tracks they sent me sounded great. The band has great spirit and they all play extremely well together. So if you like fast and furious rock, you should give this a listen. I can assure you you will not be dissapointed…”
Dan McCafferty on NITROGODS: “I have just had the pleasure to record a song with a new band called NITROGODS. Henny and I met and became good friends on the Rock Meets Classic tour 2010. Having heard other material for the album, I think it will be a fine one. Hope you enjoy my contribution on ‘Whiskey Wonderland’. I wish the GODS the best of luck. Welcome to the rock ‘n’ roll world!”

Step inside THE APOCALYPTIC NIGHTMARE JOURNEY…
From the mind of M. SHAWN CRAHAN, the founder and visionary behind one of the biggest hard rock bands in the world, the multi-platinum, Grammy-winning Slipknot–comes THE APOCALYPTIC NIGHTMARE JOURNEY. Set for release through MTV Books in late June (starting June 19), THE APOCALYPTIC NIGHTMARE JOURNEY is a large-format art book collection of explorations in darkness and light from SHAWN’s experimental photography, his second and equally powerful artistic outlet which he has honed for over a decade. Weird, wired, paranoid, endlessly imaginative and cancerously prolific, he’s created thousands of dangerous representations of reality through eye-gouging Polaroids in numerous artistic styles throughout this hand-picked collection of images.
CRAHAN will participate in a panel at SXSW Music Festival this week. He’ll join Mike IX Williams (Eyehategod/Arson Anthem), Orion Landau (Art director for Relapse Records), and Corey Mitchell (Metal Sucks) on Thursday, March 15 (2:45 PM, Austin Convention Center, Room 11AB) for the “Seeing Red Aesthetics & Visuals of Metal” panel to discuss the progession of art and visual themes in the hard rock and metal genre. Later that evening, CRAHAN will host THE APOCALYPTIC NIGHTMARE JOURNEY book preview, Q&A and SXSW party (7:00 PM, The Jr. formerly Emo’s Jr., 603 Red River St., RSVP below).
Lars Ulrichof Metallica wrote the forward for the THE APOCALYPTIC NIGHTMARE JOURNEY. Below is an excerpt:
“Throw yourself into clown’s world, throw yourself into clown’s book, throw yourself into clown’s images, throw yourself into the whole fucking thing. Let go of the bungee cord, do away with the safety net. Just go for it, and let the journey take you wherever the journey’s going to take you. And as you’re going on that trip through this book, occasionally imagine clown next to you. Imagine hearing his voice in your head talking about what these images and experiences have meant to him and where he was going with it. And you will end up on one fuck of a ride, that I can guarantee you will be unique, spellbinding, and potentially life altering. This book is everything that art should be.”
Visionary and percussionist M. SHAWN CRAHAN has long been the creative and imaginative force behind the renowned Grammy-winning, multi-platinum group’s haunting and grotesque imagery. CRAHAN has art directed and photographed both album artwork and helmed numerous documentaries on the group. CRAHAN co-directed all of Slipknot’s music videos and was the primary director for the band’s acclaimed short film for “Snuff” from their fourth album All Hope Is Gone in 2009. The 6-minute noir video for “Snuff” features legendary actor Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) in the enigmatic clip which has garnered over 14 million views on YouTube. Slipknot now has over 11 Million Facebook fans eagerly waiting to devour their art, music, videos, written word and vision.
Here’s a brief Q&A with SHAWN:
What photographers and visual art inspire you?
The American photographer Joel-Peter Witkin is my biggest influence in life. He is the be-all-end-all of everything I hope to become in photography. I have to study the masters of the realm before I’ll ever get to that level. The Impressionist painters have also made an indelible mark on my work as well as the Surrealist and Post-Impressionist styles. I love Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Cezanne and Gauguin, all the masters of painting. But Joel-Peter Witkin is the end all be all in photography. I would never copy Joel, but I desire the confidence to able to create unheard of visions within my soul and not worry about the risk of society or cultural retaliation. He creates the most horrific, insane, almost heinous at times, sexual, human images of the grotesque. I would never do it for the shock factor only for the exploration of my mind, to somehow make sanity tangible by bordering on the edge. I’m all about making art tangible, taking it from my brain and having you hold it in your hands. And that’s what The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey is, you’re holding my vision. That is as close to god as I come. It’s the same thing with my band Slipknot, when we’re on stage it’s church. It takes two to make church, but we have nine. It’s my religion.
Describe your muse…
We’re all trying to understand the myth of life. Uncovering the myth is understanding that the truth is always in front of you. Both my peers and mentors that have taught me from music to photography, have all agreed one of my most prominent attributes in art is that I know how to commit. I don’t spend a lot of time trying to wonder if something can be better, I commit and I know right away that if I’m happy with a piece and this is how it’s going to lie forever. The truth is in front of you, and you have a right decision and a wrong decision to make at all times. Being in a Catholic school for 12 years I’ve grappled with my own questions on with mortality and dying. I don’t have a morbid sense of fascination or even think that death is something I should study but it’s in everything I do because “death is more proof than god.” I’m more in touch with my own death clock than I am with god. I’m not religious, but I am spiritual and fairly dark hence the TheApocalyptic Nightmare Journey.
Describe your process as a photographer.
On The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey, my emphasis is on medium format Polaroids. During our first cycle album in 1998, Rolling Stone sent a photographer to Des Moines, IA for a photo shoot of our masks. Being the arist guy in the band I gathered the masks together and met him. We got along and I became curious, so he let me position the masks so he let me positiion the masks and look through the camera’s eye so I knew how the picture would feel. After seeing what I’d envisioned he became the photographer and snapped the photos. It was a medium format camera with a Polaroid back that he used for tests to make sure everything was perfect then he would switch to a film back. Not lnowing what the film would look like I became fixaed with the instant gratification of the Polaroids. It felt and looked exactly like what I’d seen through the camera’s eye. The Polaroid is something completely original. They’re never perfect, since the pulling process leads to imperfections, so I became obsessed with the idea of creating something original. I convinced myself I wanted to get a master’s degree studying Polaroid. Once you snap the picture and pull the Polaroid, the two rollers squeeze out emollition, the chemicals that develop the film, and I got it down to where I knew every second what happened. I am able to rip the pictures in half, I’m pulling the pictures off, I’m turning it upside-down, pushing it hard, creating a double exposure, sliding it, making the chemicals slide like it’s constantly in movement, I created something completely new and original every time I shot a Polaroid. You can never re-create what just happened, you’d need 10,000 cameras and people with stopwatches and notebooks to study ever movement. Afterwards, even if you had that information you would still have to take in the circumstantial randomness of life; the heat, the sun, where the moon was, etc. and these kinds of things cannot be reproduced.
Tell us about your home life growing up and how you feel this shaped you as an artist.
I’m an only child and not unlike any other child, some complex things were going on at home. As a result, I spent a lot of time by myself and lived in my own imagination. As I isolated myself more and more single pictures and images came in my mind ending with nothingness, the void of color, black… I was young 4, 5, 6 years old, studying the absence of color in my own mind. I began to move towards color. Maybe looking for a little happiness, a little bit more understanding of the reality going on outside and seeing fall, winter, summer and spring colors. Also, I grew up on Dr. Seuss which brought me all the color, and all the words, and all the stories, and all the imagination I could have wished for. In particular there is this book, it’s called The Digging-Est Dog and I felt connected to it because the dog just kept digging for the bone I’ve always been digging for something in my life, dealing with isolation and Dr. Seuss brought me a lot of color and the rhymes and the on-going sentences and sometimes sentences that made no sense which made all the sense in world to me. I credit my mom for recognizing I was interested in visual art, in general. She bought me books on Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Rembrandt. I was fascinated with all the biblical and mythical metaphors between heaven and hell, the duality of good and evil and by the downfall of the human race, where humans get greedy and gluttony takes over. I remember paintings of voluptuous women being pulled down into the cracks of the earth into a fiery hell by goat demon characters, even as a young man it aroused me, in a way, that wasn’t exactly sexual but extremely thrilling. I was so young I just had to try and figure it out. I was affected by the masters and I was able to really look at these things and try to figure them all out myself at such a young age. And as I got older, I began to understand the human connection between what people think and feel and creating it on canvas, paper, poetry, etc. I was obsessed to the point where, my mother was called into my grade school because I was drawing pictures of naked women. I went to a catholic school and they thought it was inappropriate. My mom took one look at the first picture I drew and said to them “This is a picture of me. He’s my son and he’s seen me like this so it’s all he knows. He doesn’t have these ideas on his mind he is just drawing, he’s interested in the human form”. That was it, she went to town for me at my catholic school and really had to make them think differently about what’s was going on in my mind.
And that’s where it all started and it’s taken me from there till 2012. Art is a vision, a bigger picture, I follow my instincts and I go find it. It’s euphoric, like sex.
When did you start shooting and did you have any formal training? What is coming up next in the art world for you?
I started shooting as young kid. Now that I look back, I see that I took at a lot of photos of my Dad and Mom, who are now deceased. I was shooting them with an eye. I only would take a picture of my Dad when he was a certain way. I realize now that I had the eyes then, but I wasn’t aware of being a photographer. In High School I took Photography, but I didn’t have patience for the class, or enjoy the assignments. Once I learned the form and technique of the camera, I moved beyond being taugght since I am spontaneous. It wasn’t until I got on the road with Slipknot around 1998, that others such as the Rolling Stone photographer took note as my vision was developing. He said, “You’ve got the eye man, you’ve got the gift. You know what you want, you’ve just got to learn the camera.” That’s when I knew I had to focus on the craft. I had a mentor who I used to take out on the road, one day and the situation wasn’t his fault, but he just wasn’t getting what I wanted, I asked him if he would hand over the camera. He looked me dead in the eye and said, “Oh no, things are never going to be the same again.” And sure enough, I haven’t stopped shooting seriously since. I give myself goals, I took pictures with the Medium Format Camera for years. Then finally I hid it away in my storage unit and bought a digital camera, to learn it and that’s what I am doing now. The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey is a reflection on all of my Polaroid work up until this moment. My next book will be of models of beautiful women and the stories that we have of collaborating with each other and creating art.
Which image or overall theme from The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey is your current favorite?
The photos that people allowed me to take when they were emotional and outside of themselves, in a moment, those are the pictures I’m most proud of. They trusted me enough to take a photograph. They gave their whole being to me without hiding. Overall, it took me 8 years to make this book. I’ve got over 5,000 Polaroids, I could have done all of them, but I held back and pulled the best of the best, which added up to 175, 200 photos in this first book. My goal is to take you through my life, in little portions of it, there’s members of my band with masks, without masks, with other humans that are big stars, or not stars, there’s my family, there’s segments of different areas that I studied, including animals and the goat that’s on Slipknot’s second album cover, Iowa. I held a lot back, but I’d rather give out a few select, profound images, that I love to introduce the world to my work.
What appealed to you about the SXSW panel “Seeing Red Aesthetics and the Visuals of Metal”?
It’s just insanity and an honor to go speak at SXSW again. I love it, I’ve done it before and I’m honored to be asked again. I’ve watched some of my friends do panels and I learned so much. I love that outlet, to be able to shed some of your knowledge and ideas as well as learn something new, all good teachers are good students, and all good students are good teachers. I go there to learn something from someone who is asking me a question that I may not be able to answer, and that might be the epiphany that drives me to the next level of evolution.

‘EN VIVO’ AVAILABLE ON BLU-RAY, DVD, AND DOUBLE SOUNDTRACK ALBUM ON 3/26/2012
Iron Maiden have just released a live clip of the song “Blood Brothers” which is taken from their upcoming EN VIVO! live release. EN VIVO! features the bands live performance on April 10th, 2011 in front of over 50,000 ecstatic fans at the Estadio Nacional, Santiago, during the Round The World In 66 Days leg of The Final Frontier World Tour, and captures a magnificent performance by the band, ardently embraced by the legendary Latino passion and energy of their Chilean fans.
With spectacular stage backdrops, dynamic musicianship and a literally jaw-dropping appearance by Eddie, this live show encapsulates to perfection the heart and soul of Iron Maiden 2011. Bass player and founding member Steve Harris comments, “For The Final Frontier Tour,it was really important to me that we filmed in South America as we’re always so overwhelmed by the fans reaction when we go to that part of the world and I wanted to reflect that in the filming. After much consideration, we chose the Santiago show as we felt it was one of our best performances of the entire tour and to play at the prestigious Estadio Nacional was a landmark moment for us. For reasons known to our fans, it took a long time before we got to play our first show in Chile, and once we did get to play a show, the response was so phenomenal we just had to keep coming back, and it’s got better and better each time!”
The concert was filmed digitally using 22 HD cameras and an octocam (a flying camera which captures aerial crowd scenes), recorded in both stereo and 5.1 audio and mixed by Maiden’s longstanding producer, Kevin “Caveman” Shirley, all of which serves to accentuate the incredible atmosphere of this compelling performance. Extensive use is made of split screens so fans can follow the individual members more closely, and the set list moves seamlessly between songs from Maiden’s most recent studio album, 2010’s The Final Frontier, through to classic fan favorites via the band’s vast and varied catalogue (full set listing below).Disc two of the DVD set is a bonus disc containing an 88-minute documentary, Behind The Beast. This is also an entirely in-house production by Maiden’s own Krew, led by Andy Matthews, and is intended as an interesting and revealing high quality “home movie” for their fans to see how Iron Maiden put on a tour and what goes on behind the scenes at a show. It describes the extraordinary story of one of the most acclaimed and ambitious touring shows in the world. It illustrates the day-to-day life and complex tasks of the Maiden Killer Krew and the other characters behind the scenes. The expertise and experience, the problem-solving and successes, the sheer scale and immense difficulties of the undertaking come to life through the day-to-day coverage of the tour and the background work of the crews in sound, lighting, carpentry, production and set design. As well as interviews with the Iron Maiden crew, it interweaves anecdotes from the band and their fans, and includes footage of the live show in this comprehensive guide to the intricacies of staging massive, live stadium shows around the world out of the belly of a Boeing 757. The bonus disc also contains an extended version of the promo video “Satellite 15…The Final Frontier,” a video about the making of “Satellite 15…The Final Frontier” plus the opening video sequence to The Final Frontier World Tour.In addition to the Blu-ray™, the 2-DVD set will initially be available as a Limited Edition double DVD in a Collectors’ Steel Book Case and Double Vinyl Picture Disc. As well as a traditional 2-CD soundtrack album, EN VIVO! will also be available as a digital download audio album and digital download video.
EN VIVO! will be released on March 26th on Blu-Ray, 2DVD Set, and double soundtrack album. The 2 LP picture disc vinyl will be released on 4/10.

Fire Make Thunder marks the fourth undertaking for the collaborative duo known as OSI. Formed in 2002 by Jim Matheos (Fates Warning, Arch/Matheos) and Kevin Moore (Chroma Key, former Dream Theater keyboardist), OSI is a long distance partnership, both musicians typically writing and recording alone and sending song ideas back and forth for further elaboration. Written and recorded throughout most of 2011, this latest release once again reflects the eclectic influences of both Matheos and Moore.
Fire Make Thunderis slated for a March 27th release via Metal Blade Records and so far the album has been heralded with exceptional reviews and critical acclaim:
Stands miles apart from anything else out there – metal, prog, electronic or otherwise
The album is an assured winner… and heralds a welcome return to form for the band.
-The New Review
Truly one for newcomers and diehards, Fire Make Thunder offers a resounding clarion call that OSI has returned.
Decibel Magazine’s “Deciblog” is hosting an exclusive premiere of a track from Fire Make Thunder. Get a first listen to the first track on the album “Cold Call” HERE.
An exclusive video interview featuring Chairman and CEO of Metal Blade Brian Slagel talking to the often elusive duo of Kevin Moore and Jim Matheos is available for viewing courtesy of GuitarWorld.com HERE. In the interview OSI and Slagel discuss the recording process of the new album, the origins of OSI and much more.
OSI has released an exclusive audio medley from Fire Make Thunder, which features audio samples from the upcoming release. The medley as well as pre-order opportunities can be accessed HERE.
Returning as the band’s session drummer is Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree, this time co-writing one of the tracks with the band. All other instruments and programming were performed by both Matheos and Moore, while vocals and lyrics were handled exclusively by Moore.
All of the recording for Fire Make Thunder, with the exception of drums, was done by Moore and Matheos at each musician’s respective home studio with drums being recorded at Harrison’s home in London. Final overdubs as well as some additional writing/arranging was completed in July 2011 in Jamaica, Iowa, where the band mixed alongside engineer Matt Sepanic at Sound Farm Studio and Recording Environment. Mastering was handled by renowned engineer Roger Siebel. The record was produced by both Moore and Matheos.

They also were part – and the only band with two songs – of the first legendary “Metal Massacre”-Sampler in 1982. Malice toured in the US, Canada and Europe with bands like Alice Cooper, WASP and Slayer. Most memorable gig was in 1982 when Malice played in Los Angeles at the Troubador Club – support act was an unknown band called……. Metallica. I just had the pleasure of listening to the new Europe single, “Not Supposed To Sing The Blues”. This song is a heavy, bluesy rocker, which almost sounds as if it came out of the Deep Purple play book. For you folks in the United Kingdom, you can purchase the single from iTunes and Amazon now. There is no official word on the U.S. Release date yet! This song needs to be released worldwide, it is great!!
“Not Supposed to Sing The Blues” is the first single of Europe’s new long player, Bag of Bones released in the UK on Monday April 30th, 2012 was produced by one of the hottest producers, Kevin Shirley, who was in charge of the overall album production as well.
“Kevin Shirley did such a great job capturing the spirit of this band. He just let us do our thing and then pushed us and our songs to the max,” states an enthusiastic Tempest. “Finally we express ourselves completely without restraint. Straight from heart and soul. It took some time but WE HAVE ARRIVED!”
You can listen to a preview of the song at this link.
For a limited time, Dragonforce has made their song, “Fallen World” available as a free download. “Fallen World” is on the up and coming Dragonforce album, The Power Within which is due out April 17th, 2012. Get the free download at this link.
