Who wouldn’t want to come out and see this show??? I can’t thank Vince Anderson of Shockwave Magazine enough for his support of Fallen Blue since day one. AJ and I have some great things planned, to include some one-of-a-kind raffle items. AJ could be challenged in a drum-off, and Randy looks to close out the show with some true rock talents in an all-star jam. And this is all I can say because we are working to add even more to the show, to include artists who may or may not be playing a couple of days later at the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, MD. We have high hopes for local police bag-pipers to open the show, as well as a rousing rendition of the National Anthem. Stay tuned!” – John Guarnieri, Fallen Blue

There have been so many great releases in March and April already, it is easy for some bands to get lost in the shuffle. A band that has been sandwiched between my recent playlist of Jack Blades, Van Halen, Shinedown, Accept, Halestorm, and Adrenaline Mob, is Santa Barbara, California’s Winchester Rebels.
Winchester Rebels released their debut, Three Sheets To the Wind last fall. With the release of their recent video clip, “Flying” (see video below), I knew I needed to check these guys out. After giving Three Sheets To the Wind a few plays, I hear a variety of influences. The best way I could describe the band is a modern rock band with classic influences. The band’s sound is bolstered by the big voice of Nick Hunt. Mr. Hunt has a clean vocal style with an above average range. . When his vocals soar, the songs really jump out at me. His voice is a pure pleasure to listen to. He isn’t the only talented musician in this band though. Guitarists Nick Fitzgerald and James Longoria are solid players. They may be guilty of playing the down tuned guitars a little bit, but they also sneak in some pretty cool riffs that make that tunes stand out.
I have read where Winchester Rebels have been compared to Stone Temple Pilots, and I would agree that there are some songs on Three Sheets to The Wind that could easily fit on an STP record. The songs “Loaded Gun”, “Taste of Hell” and “Silence” definitely fit that style.
Some of my favorites on this CD are “Private Angel”, “Down”,and “Dining With Devils” . There really isn’t a bad song in the bunch.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a major label signed the Winchester Rebels. They are far better than many of the bands you hear on FM radio today. I truly have been enjoying their CD Three Sheets To The Wind, and I think you will too.
For more information on Winchester Rebels, please visit the band’s Facebook page.

A band that I am expecting to make a big splash on the hard rock scene in 2012 is Frankfurt’s Torpedohead. The band has just released a new video clip, “Rotten Radio”. This song is from the band’s up and coming album, Greetings From Heartbreak Key. Enjoy & Happy Friday!
Williamsport, PA rockers Candlelight Red have just announced a massive set of tour dates for the coming months in support of their debut album, The Wreckage. The band is extending their current tour with Trapt, and will also be adding on shows with Lacuna Coil and Crossfade. The Spring tour continues tomorrow at the House of Rock in Dayton, OH (full schedule below).
Candlelight Red also announced that the upcoming video for their single, “She’s Got The Look,” was shot in Stanley Kubrick’s family warehouse by indie video aficionado Alex de Campi (Art Brut, Los Campesinos!). The video twists the song into a horror story of a lonely teen boy who dreams of finding a girl who ends up finding him, as well as featuring an electrifying performance by the band.See below for stills from the video.

Last night (April 11), at the fourth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards presented by Epiphone, SLASH and the evening’s other participants—Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson and Johnny Depp—all met up backstage at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. It was a big night for SLASH, who took home the “Riff Lord” award, presented to him by Duff McKagan. SLASH and his bandmates–Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators featuring Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums) and Todd Kerns (bass)—performed three songs: the red–hot single “You’re A Lie” from SLASH’s upcoming second solo album APOCALYPTIC LOVE (out May 22 via Dik Hayd International, distributed through EMI); plus two songs from Slash’s debut album: “Nothing To Say” and “Back to Cali.” Alice Cooper then joined SLASH and his band, tearing into the Alice classic “School’s Out.” SLASH’s headlining U.S. tour launches May 3 in Baltimore and encompasses three festival appearances: Saturday, May 5 at Carolina Rebellion, Saturday, May 19 at Rock On The Range and Friday, May 25 at Rocklahoma.
One of Poland’s top contemporary traditional metal acts, CRYSTAL VIPER, are prepared to release Crimen Excepta on April 24th via AFM Records, their fourth full-length album to date.
Welcome to the world of CRYSTAL VIPER: a world full of Flying Vs, tube amps, leather and chains. The band’s powerful old-school sound runs deep with influences hailing from Mercyful Fate, Warlock and Iron Maiden, yet with a dark thrash edge born of Nifelheim persuasion at times, all fueled by frontwoman Marta Gabriel, her commanding vocals akin to Chastain’s Leather Leone with a touch of Doro Pesch.
The follow-up to 2010’s acclaimed Legends full-length, Crimen Excepta is a concept album about holy inquisition, black magic and witches, where fiction mixes with historical facts. Recorded with producer Bart Gabriel (Jack Starr’s Burning Starr, Sacred Steel, Mortician), Crimen Excepta is inarguably CRYSTAL VIPER’s darkest and most aggressive material to date. Bringing more of their personal black and death metal influences to the table, even bringing in guest members such as Hell vocalist David Bower who appears on the album’s title track, as well as Vader’s Piotr “Peter” Wiwczarek to record a cover of the Vader classic “Tyrants Of Hell” for a bonus track to the album. Additionally, CRYSTAL VIPER recorded “Ghosts Of Sherwood” — a theme song for the forthcoming 3D cinema horror movie Robin Hood: Ghosts Of Sherwood — which also appears as a bonus track to the album.
As with previous CRYSTAL VIPER works, the cover art for Crimen Excepta was painted by legendary French artist Chris Moyen, known from his cooperation with acts such as Slayer, Trivium, Beherit, Blasphemy and more.

German thrash metal hero, Tankard, has just released the title of its upcoming Nuclear Blast debut. The name of the anniversary-record is: A Girl Called Cerveza.
The album is currently being produced at the famous Studio 23 with renowned producer, Michael Mainx (BÖHSE ONKELZ, DER W, DISBELIEF, D-A-D) in Frankfurt, Germany. The alcoholic metal outfit has also revealed the first part of the new album cover.
Keep your eyes open for the second part to be released soon!
A Girl Called Cerveza will be out at the end of July via Nuclear Blast.
Another lost track from Pantera finally sees the light of day! “Piss” was recorded during the Vulgar Display Of Power sessions and stored away; drummer Vinnie Paul rediscovered the track while going through the band’s vault.
“Piss” is now available on Amazon and iTunes. It will also be included on the 20th Anniversary Edition of Vulgar Display Of Power which hits stores on May 15th.
Swedish female-fronted Symphonic Rock/Metal band THE MURDER OF MY SWEET return with their second album on May 25th! The successor to 2010’s debut “Divanity” will be entitled “Bye Bye Lullaby” and is about to include 13 brand new tracks. The album’s first edition will be available as digipak.
Singer Angelica remembers the creative process:
”Bye Bye Lullaby” has been a long time coming. We wrote nearly enough songs for two full albums and had to carefully choose these thirteen to truly represent the new, updated The Murder Of My Sweet. This album includes performances from close friends Jesper Stromblad (who you all know from In Flames), Fredrik Akesson (from Opeth) and Peter Wichers (from Soilwork), so it’s a really brave record. The major difference for me is the variation in the songs; we’ve taken them down a darker path, as well as on a more commercial path. It’s unorthodox maybe, but since there are so many female fronted bands out there, we felt that this combination had never been tried before, and would be breaking new ground, which is way more fun.”
Composer and drummer Daniel Flores adds:
“Who doesn’t like huge variety and impact created with sound? Small fragments of sonic whispering, say mixed with soulful performances? With this new line-up, my imagination had no limits and you will surely be hearing an even bigger cinematic soundscape than you all grew to love on “Divanity”!”
The new lineup, to which Daniel refers, now includes, alongside himself and singer Angelica, new guitarist Christopher Vetter and new bassist Teddy Westlund.
The curtain rises on “Bye Bye Lullaby” on May 25th – a special album from a particularly special band. Please welcome: THE MURDER OF MY SWEET!
„Bye Bye Lullaby“ track listing:
04. I Dare You
05. Violently Peaceful
06. Meant To Last Forever
08. Kind Of Lousy
09. The One
11. Waiting For The 27th

Kane Roberts is well known as guitar player for none other than ALICE COOPER. He can be heard on the albums “Constrictor” and “Raise Your Fist To Hell”. He also performed live on the tours for these albums. The guitarist as well was involved in writing the songs on these two albums and in charge for adding the Metal flair of the late 80’s to Alice’s sound. Roberts’ on stage performance was branded by his masculine looks and his utopian looking, pyrotechnical guitars.
After leaving Alice’s band, Kane Roberts released his first, self-titled solo album in 1987. The lyrics of the song “Full Pull” have been penned by Alice Cooper. In 1989, the guitarist appeared as a guest on Cooper’s “Trash” record, on the song “Bed Of Nails”.
“Saints And Sinners”, Roberts second album, was released in 1991 and included the Jon Bon Jovi written track „Does Anybody Really Fall In Love Anymore?“ which also has been recorded by Cher. Additionally to this, he also can be heard on the group BERLIN’s record “Count Three & Pray” which was produced by Bob Ezrin and on one album by Rod Stewart. Roberts also sang backing vocals on Steve Vai’s “Sex And Religion” record. The song “Take It off” from the Kiss record “Revenge” was written by Roberts, Bob Ezrin and Paul Stanley. Furthermore, he took part in the recordings for albums by STATUS QUO (Quo) and DESMOND CHILD (Discipline).
After the release of his second solo album, Kane Roberts granted himself a break of a couple of years outside of the music business and returned in 1999 with his band PHOENIX DOWN. “Under The Wild Sky” is the only album released by this group. Since then, Roberts has been working as graphic designer and programmer for video games.
In 2006, Kane Roberts started to record a new album which so far hasn’t been released.
Kane Roberts self titled CD will be reissued on April 20th, 2012 via Yesterrock /Universal!
You can purchase this in the Yesterrock store at this link for 14.50 € .

From the L.A. Times:
Early this morning, Pop & Hiss received a letter from Guns N’ Roses co-founder Axl Rose, through his publicist, announcing his decision to not attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday in Cleveland. Written under the greeting, “To The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Guns N’ Roses Fans and Whom It May Concern,” Rose explained specifically why he was declining his induction into the Cleveland music institution.
The band, born in Los Angeles in 1985, was announced as an inductee in February alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys and Donovan, among others, leading to instant speculation whether the five core members of Guns N’ Roses circa “Appetite for Destruction” would appear together for the first time since 1993. Guitarist Slash officially departed the band in 1996, followed soon thereafter by other members Duff McKagen and Matt Sorum (original drummer Steven Adler had left a few years earlier, as had Izzy Strandlin).
Rose retained the rights to the band’s name, and over the next decade devoted his time to creating the album “Chinese Democracy,” touring with a revived Guns N’ Roses, and defiantly dismissing any suggestion of a reunion with the original members of the band.
Since February, Rose has remained mum on his plans, even as guitarist Slash has spoken out in favor of a Rock Hall reunion — and acknowledging Rose’s antipathy. “He hates my guts,” Slash told Rolling Stone in early April. “It’s over a lot of different stuff; I don’t even know. There’s just no communication between us. I talk to Duff and Steven, but when it comes to old Guns N’ Roses, there really isn’t anybody that makes decisions.”
In the letter below, Rose specifically criticizes comments by Adler, who speculated to Billboard magazine in 2007 that the band might reunite. Those comments were given by Adler while promoting his own Adler’s Appetite tour, which was timed to support his book, “My Appetite for Destruction.” “I want to finish what we started,” Adler told Billboard then (parentheses and elipses theirs), “and … with the love and support I got from those guys, I think we can (reunite). I’m gonna leave it up to Axl. That’s gonna be Axl’s call, and I love Axl and I know he’ll make the right call.” Below, Rose calls Adler’s comments “reunion lies.” Continuing attempts to reach Adler have not been successful.
German thrash legends HOLY MOSES, are celebrating their 30th anniversary with the new album 30th Anniversary – In the Power Now. Starting today the band is streaming the re-recorded version of their classic song “Def Con II”. Check it out HERE!
HOLY MOSES are giving away the snare skins which have been thrashed by drummer Gerd Lücking throughout the whole recording of 30th Anniversary – In The Power Of Now. Additionally the snare skin has been signed by all HOLY MOSES-members who were involved in the production. All you have to do to catch this unique piece of thrash history is to visit http://www.facebook.com/official.holy.moses until May 31st!
In 2011 Sabina Classen and her HOLY MOSES men secretly locked themselves into the Absurd Studio in Hamburg, Germany to start the recordings for the “30th Anniversary – In The Power Of Now” double album. The new drummer Gerd Lücking (GiftDwarf / ex-Rebellion) took care of the drum tracks on the new record. The album will have new versions of 20 of the most important songs of the 30 years of HOLY MOSES history plus 2 brand new songs.
HOLY MOSES has released a one minute audio preview from one of the new songs from 30th Anniversary – In the Power of Now. The song entitled “Borderland” can be heard HERE.
The band got together in late summer of 1980 in Aachen, Germany. Despite a number of line-up changes in the course of their career, HOLY MOSES have distinguished themselves through a high degree of musical consistency and downright disarming physical energy. They have been touring Europe regularly with thrash classics such as Finished With The Dogs, The New Machine Of Liechtenstein and World Chaos. When the international thrash scene experienced a perceptible slump in the early Nineties, Sabina Classen took time out from HOLY MOSES and founded Temple Of The Absurd. Based on a new lyrical and musical approach, she released two albums with her new band and reactivated HOLY MOSES at the beginning of the new millennium, followed by numerous shows all over the world, performances at important festivals such as the W:O:A and With Full Force, the Pusam Festival in South Korea, and the release of successful recordings such as Disorder Of The Order (2002), Strength, Power, Will, Passion (2005) and Agony Of Death (2008).
HOLY MOSES are alive and kicking and are set to cheat the grim reaper for years to come!
“30th Anniversary – In The Power Of Now” will be released through SPV/Steamhammer in Germany on April 20th, in Europe on April 23rd and in the USA/Canada on May 22nd as a high class digipak with an extensive booklet feat. liner notes, rare photos and much more.

I recently completed my collection of Saxon’s discography, and one of the last CD’s I picked up, turned out to be one of my favorite Saxon releases ever. I don’t know how I managed to miss Forever Free the first time around, but it has been a mainstay in my playlist since I received the CD.
From the opening number”Forever Free” to the final cut “Cloud Nine”, Forever Free rocks all the way through, without a bad tune in the bunch.
The title track “Forever Free” is one of the most powerful Saxon songs ever. I don’t know if they play this one live today (I have never seen Saxon live), but they should if they don’t.
Saxon’s cover of Willie Dixon’s “Just Wanna Make Love To You” is quite unique, and they made it completely their own. It is quite different from the version made famous by Foghat on their 1972 debut.
“Get Down and Dirty” has a touch of hair metal flair that is absolutely awesome. I love this song!
“Iron Wheels” is the only ballad on Forever Free, but is a solid tune that is worth many repeat plays.
Paul Quin and Graham Oliver really tear it up on “One Step Away”. Guitar lovers are going to love this track.
If there was a theme song that ever fit my life, “Can’t Stop Rockin” would be the song I would choose. I am dumbfounded at how I missed out on this song for nearly two decades.
Every time I hear “Nighthunter”, I want to crank the stereo up, and rip the knob off. This is another killer Saxon anthem.
The closing number “Cloud Nine” has music that sounds like an amalgam of Van Halen’s “Hot for Teacher”, and Sammy Hagar’s “There’s Only One Way To Rock”. This song closes out Forever Free the same way it started…..rockin’ out! I wouldn’t have it any other way!
July 2nd, 2012 is the 20th anniversary of Forever Free. I can’t believe it took me nearly twenty years to check this one out, but I am glad I did.
Forever Free was reissued in 2002 with two bonus live tracks, “Princess In The Night” and “Forever Free”. If you missed this CD the first time around like me, you can pick up a copy at this link. I highly recommend it!

Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to announce the May 29 release of Foreigner’s Alive & Rockin’, recorded at one of Europe’s most popular Hard Rock fests, the 2006 Bang Your Head Festival in Balingen, Germany. This 9-track concert, previously released on DVD only (Eagle Rock Entertainment) is now available for the first time on CD. [MSRP $13.98]
“My initial musical vision for Foreigner was to combine blues and R’n’B with British Rock and make it sound soulful and authentic,” says guitarist Mick Jones. “I’d grown up in England and had the English influence but I was also inspired by many elements of American music from Mississippi blues to country. Foreigner was the vehicle to get that musical blend across.”
That “blend” was never more evident than on this rockin’ night as Jones—with vocalist Kelly Hansen, drummer Jason Bonham, keyboardist Jeff Jacobs, multi-instrumentalist Tom Gimbel (guitars, saxophone, flute) and bassist Jeff Pilson—knocked out a crowd-pleasing set that included eight U.S. Top 20 hits including anthems “Juke Box Hero” “Cold As Ice” and “Hot Blooded.”
This most beloved of Classic Rock bands has been serving up the hits for over 30 years. With over 70 million records sold worldwide, they’re second only to Led Zeppelin on the Atlantic Records roster in total album sales. Jones, producer of 10 of Foreigner’s multi-platinum albums, has composed some of the most memorable riffs in rock history. After forming Spooky Tooth with Gary Wright in the early 1970s, he left his native England to move to New York in 1976 and formed Foreigner.
Eagle Rock Entertainment is the largest producer and distributor of music programming for DVD, Blu-Ray, TV, Audio and Digital Media in the world. Eagle works directly alongside talent to produce top quality, High Definition and 3D programs, both concerts and documentaries, including The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who, Queen, The Doors, Jeff Beck, U2, Peter Gabriel, Paul McCartney and Ozzy Osbourne. Eagle is a Grammy Award winning company and has received over 30 multi-platinum, over 50 platinum and over 90 gold discs, worldwide. Denver thrash assault HAVOK will kick off their latest run of dates with Sepultura, Death Angel, and Krisiun in Santa Ana, California tonight. The North American Kairos Tour 2012 will make its way through nearly three weeks worth of shows, coming to a close in New York City on April 30.
Comments vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez: “We’re hitting the road with Sepultura – Holy shit!! It’s a dream come true. This tour is going to be absolutely insane. All the bands totally rule and we’re expecting to see some rowdy crowds. Prepare to have a sore neck and remember, no karate in the pit!”
Adds drummer Pete Webber: “I can’t wait to start the upcoming tour with Sepultura, Death Angel and Krisiun! Sepultura was one of my very first influences in metal and in drumming! Catch HAVOK destroying a club near you!”

“HAVOK kicks your ass from the moment you hit play, and doesn’t ever let up” — Metal Underground
“…assaulting on all fronts with every gun blazing and superb songwriting.” — Blabbermouth
“In a time when so much new thrash borrows from that current Exodus/Testament sound, HAVOK comes out with something that sounds so fresh and unique.” — Popdose
I have to admit that I had no idea what to expect from the band, Adrenaline Mob. I figured the music would be good with Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) and Russell Allen (Symphony X) involved. I have been a fan of Portnoy’s and Allen’s music for quite some time (I am still waiting for another Allen/Lande record). The real X Factor and surprise of Adrenaline Mob, is guitarist Mike Orlando. I knew nothing of Mr. Orlando prior to Adrenaline Mob. Needless to say, I am extremely impressed with his guitar work on this album. The music style ranges from modern hard rock to more classic styles (sorry, no prog rock here). There are some blood pumping hard rockers and a couple of slower numbers. Every song rocks and the riffs of Mike Orlando really make this album. Of course, Mike Portnoy’s drums are excellent, and Russell Allen’s vocals are top-notch, but it is Orlando’s fret work that really surprised me.
The opening number “Undaunted” (see video below) has a very modern feel that sounds like a blend of Godsmack and Disturbed. This is a heavy tune, and deserves a place on rock radio everywhere.
The next two tracks “Psychosane” and “Indifferent” are amongst my favorites on Omertà. “Psychosane” is a pretty catchy headbanger. When Orlando cuts loose on this song, look out! There are some impressive riffs on this tune. I liked the use of the voice coder too.
“Indifferent”isn’t quite as heavy as “Undaunted” or “Psychosane”, but it still a great song, and ought to be released as a single by Adrenaline Mob.
While “All On The Line” is one of the slower songs on Omertà, it might be the best song I have heard in 2012. This ought to be a huge hit for Adrenaline Mob.
The lyrics on “Feelin’ Me” are kind of silly (The main lyric is “Are you mother fuckers Feeeeeeeeeeeeelin Me”), but I still don’t dislike this song. It still rocks.
I have to admit that I am not a big fan of the Duran Duran song “Come Undone”. This song has been covered by far too many bands already, and I didn’t like it that much when Duran Duran did it. Adrenaline Mob’s version of this cover features the monster vocals of Lzzy Hale (from Halestorm). While this version is pretty cool, I still don’t love this song. Lzzy’s vocals do make it listenable though.
“Believe Me” is another song that falls into that modern hard rock style. It is Mike Orlando’s riffs that takes this song up a couple notches. If it wasn’t for his riffs, this song might get lost in a sea of modern rock sound alike tunes that you hear on most FM rock radio stations.
Another stand out tune is “Angel Sky”. This song has it all. Big riffs, big vocals, and yet it is probably the least heavy of all of the songs on Omertà. Russell Allen’s vocals truly shine on “Angel Sky”.
The bottom line – Omertà is easily one of the best hard rock releases this year, will easily find its way into my top 10 at the end of 2012. Don’t miss this!
You can pick up a copy of Omertà at this link!

12. RAVEN feat. Udo Dirkschneider – Born To Be Wild
“I consider myself very fortunate to have known the late Jim Marshall. He was such a fantastic individual.
Not only did he create the loudest, most effective, brilliant-sounding Rock & Roll amplifier ever designed, but he was a caring, hardworking family man who remained true to his integrity to the very end. His work ethic was unequaled and his passion unrivaled.
He took great care of me personally, as one of his loyal fans and Marshall Amp enthusiasts, ever since we first met in the early 90’s.
At that time, he did the unprecedented; he had the first-ever Artist Model Marshall series designed for me when my Marshall amps were destroyed in a Guns N Roses concert riot in St. Louis in 1991. We had been friends ever since.
Jim cared for all his customers like they were his family. He would do whatever it took to make sure an artist was completely satisfied and he made sure his staff did likewise. It was very important to him that Marshall quality and customer care was paramount.
Jim’s passing marks the end of a very loud and colorful era. From Pete Townshend to Kerry King, Marshall Amplifiers have been behind every great Rock & Roll guitarist since the beginning. Marshall Amplification is one of the most enduring, iconic brands of contemporary music history.
This industry will likely never see the likes of Jim again. But his legacy will live on forever.”
