Michigan rock powerhouse, POP EVIL hit the road next week supporting THEORY OF A DEADMAN in continued support of their release, “War Of Angels.” The tour comes on the heels of landing their THIRD single on the active rock top ten chart. “Having three hit singles off our album is a dream come true. It’s been a long journey and we credit our fans for all the support. We look forward to reuniting with our good friends in Theory of a Deadman on what looks to be one of the best tours this Spring. Can’t wait to get out there and ROCK with everyone!” says frontman Leigh Kakaty.
The band starts their tour supporting THEORY OF A DEADMAN on Monday in Tallahassee, FL. Dates run coast to coast through the end of May. Tickets are available HERE.
The band released “War Of Angels” last summer to much critical praise.
“Pop Evil’s latest effort, War of Angels, sees the band beefing up their sound and displaying a good deal of growth and maturity that’s a paramount example of why it’s a shame the big labels don’t give bands time to develop anymore” – Guitar World
“War Of Angels is a heavier and more mature departure from their debut album.” – Billboard
When a band is recording the follow-up to one of the most popular albums of their career, the hype for the next release is always higher than it should be. Often times in these situations, a band tries to do much and either overproduces the art, or fails miserably in expectations. Thus, when Shinedown was set to release Amaryllis, the highly anticipated follow-up to their mega-smash album, The Sound Of Madness, the band was facing several of these aforementioned challenges. Fortunately, Shinedown found the middle ground where they could create an album that is enjoyable to the ears of fans.
Amaryllis kicks off with a three song punch that is a huge treat for any lover of hard rock music. The pulse pounding, foot stomping, rock song “Adrenaline,” kicks off the record in hard rocking style. The drums are crisp, the guitars are sharp, and the vocals from Brent Smith sound as great as ever. I’ve always been a fan of Brent Smith’s voice and he delivers immediately on the opening track.
The first single from Amaryllis, “Bully,” follows and packs quite a punch of its own. “Bully” is an anthem to a rising problem in modern day America that is starting to get a lot of media attention. Bullying is no longer going to be tolerated, and there are a lot of schools that have implemented zero tolerance policies to help combat this rising issue. Shinedown brings their own version to the party, singing about how the meek can overcome these bullies by banding together and deciding that they are no longer going to take the bullying. Anyone who has ever been picked on, made fun of, or otherwise humiliated, is going to feel great allegiance with this track.
The three pack ends with what is possibly the best Shinedown song ever recorded in Amaryllis. Every once in a while a song comes along that is so perfectly crafted that it can only be described as perfection. “Amaryllis” is one such song. The intro to the song provides a perfect lead up to the bridge, which then segues in perfect harmony to the chorus. With the addition of string instruments on top of the guitars and drums, Shinedown has produced a massive power ballad hit that fans and everyone else are going to love. The lyrics are expertly written and fit the music with a precision that can only be achieved when everything is in perfect alignment.
And while the rest of the album is strong, there isn’t one song that compares to “Amaryllis.” Overall, Amaryllis is a fantastic album, with hit after hit pelting the ears of the listener. Shinedown was able to overcome the high expectations that were laid on them following the success of The Sound Of Madness. They rose to the challenge and created a record that far exceeds their previous work. The only problem now is that they have set the bar even higher for the next record. Given the history of the band, I am sure they will be able to surpass that bar as well.
Amaryllis is available for sale at this link. Don’t miss this!

The Used have released the first music video for “I Come Alive” off their 5th studio album, Vulnerable, which hit #8 on the Billboard Top 200 charts, selling 31,521 in the first week: http://smarturl.it/Icomealive. The Used and director Aaron Hymes came up with the treatment for the video that was shot over the course of two days in California. Singer Bert McCracken wants to share: “The music video for ‘I Come Alive’ is simply a piece of art to be enjoyed. Our band in no way condones violence or teen bullying. The song, for me, is about falling down or hitting the ground; when things happen to you in life. That’s pretty much what ‘Box Full of Sharp Objects’ was about as well, on the first record. Taking a hit can be the most inspirational thing that can happen to you.”
This is the first album release off their own record label Anger Music Group partnered with Hopeless Records. The band recently announced a headlining tour kicking off May 12th with Dead Sara and Stars In Stereo and will also play Main Stage on this summer’s 2012 Vans Warped Tour.
Turning personal adversity into art is The Used’s trademark and Vulnerable was a record that simply had to be made. It marks a particular triumph for singer Bert McCracken, who is now reenergized after suffering a broken hand and elbow last year, falling from a stage in Orange County, Calif., and then spending four months getting surgery and recuperating. The experience partially birthed the title and concept of Vulnerable.
“Me feeling that vulnerability kind of sparked this creative fire inside of me,” says McCracken. “This record’s really about becoming more than just who you are, and allowing yourself that vulnerability to be a more powerful person. It’s a lot more positive than a lot of records we’ve written in the past. I think everyone could use some positivity nowadays.”
The Used-which also includes guitarist Quinn Allman, bassist Jeph Howard and drummer Dan Whitesides formed in Orem, Utah in 2001, signing to Reprise Records that same year. Championed by producer and collaborator John Feldmann, the band issued their gold-certified Self-Titled debut in 2002, quickly cementing the Used as leaders among the post-hardcore elite, thanks in part to unforgettable singles like “Box Full of Sharp Objects,” “The Taste of Ink” and “Buried Myself Alive.” The band then released the CD/DVD combo Maybe Memories in 2003, now certified platinum, featuring B-sides, live cuts, demos and unreleased tracks, while still another gold record followed-2004’s In Love And Death-spawning singles “Take It Away,” “All That I’ve Got” and “I Caught Fire.”
2007’s Lies For The Liars, hit #5 on the Billboard Top 200, led to 2009’s Artwork, which peaked at #10 on the Billboard Top 200. As if that weren’t enough to keep a band busy, since 2001 the Used has also destroyed countless stages the world over, touring with a who’s who of modern rock and heavy music contemporaries, and have been featured acts at major festivals like Warped Tour, Taste of Chaos, Ozzfest, Projekt Revolution and the UK’s Reading and Leeds festivals.
“I think Vulnerable is really new for us. There’s a lot of hip-hop influence, beats and drum and bass kind of stuff, but it’s also still a Used record, by all means,” explains McCracken. “Just like any other Used record, it’s a horse of many colors: There are a lot of soft and heavy sounds, there are a lot of brutal, sharp, bright sounds, and the tempos are anywhere from ultra-slow to super fast and heavy. There are a lot of different conceptual feelings on the record.”
“This record is for all those people who weren’t the coolest people around. We never were. This record’s for kids like us, who just love music, because it saves their lives every day,” McCracken says. “At the end of the day, I’m the only one who has to live and die with myself. I want to make it a good one for me. I only have one life to live.”

Current And Former Members Of Black Sabbath, Pantera, Dream Theater, Symphony X and Disturbed All On One Stage
Kill Devil Hill and Adrenaline Mob are heading out on the road together for what will be a memorable night of hard rock music. The run, which will be comprised of current and former members of Black Sabbath, Pantera, Dream Theater, Symphony X and Disturbed, kicks off on May 10th in Cleveland. The tour will make stops in Dallas, Chicago and Orlando before wrapping up in Charlotte, NC on May 22. The shows will feature Kill Devil Hill followed by Adrenaline Mob and then end in all out jam between the two groups. Special VIP Packages, including exclusive items and meet and greets will be available for each band. Please check with the band’s respective websites for details. Adrenaline Mob is the powerhouse vocals of Russell Allen (Symphony X), the shredding guitar attack of Mike Orlando (Sonic Stomp), the rhythmic bass playing of John Moyer (Disturbed) and the drumming virtuosity of Mike Portnoy (Ex Dream Theater/Avenged Sevenfold). Kill Devil Hill is comprised of famed bassist Rex Brown, (Pantera, Down) drum monster Vinny Appice (former drummer with Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven And Hell), guitar virtuoso Mark Zavon and vocalist Dewey Bragg.
Kill Devil Hill is a super group consisting of famed bassist Rex Brown, (Pantera, Down) drum monster Vinny Appice (former drummer with Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven And Hell), guitar virtuoso Mark Zavon and vocalist Dewey Bragg. The band are gearing up to release their self-titled debut album on May 22nd via SPV/Steamhammer. In 2009 Vinny had found the perfect guitarist in Zavon, who was also looking to start a new band. Zavon played a demo he had recorded with vocalist Dewey Bragg, and Vinny was floored. With the three members in place Vinny asked his long time friend Rex Brown to play bass on a demo track called “War Machine”. Rex immediately agreed and the final puzzle piece was in place for the formation of Kill Devil Hill.
Adrenaline Mob will be touring in support of their Elm City Records debut Omertá. The record debuted Top 5 on the Billboard Rock Album chart when it was released on March 13. The band reached #5 on the chart and also was #62 on the Billboard Top 200 selling over 6600 copies its first week. The album has been getting amazing reviews with Revolver declaring “If you dig hard-hitting modern metal, then Adrenaline Mob’s 11-track debut offers some monstrous moments.” Adrenaline Mob formed in 2011 when Sonic Stomp founder Orlando, who had been working on a collection of songs, approached Symphony X vocalist Allen with a concept and idea for the band. Together they joined forces and refined those ideas. Allen then reached out to long-time friend and ex Dream Theater/Avenged Sevenfold drummer Portnoy to see if he had any interest in playing with them. Portnoy jumped on-board and from the very first note, the chemistry and sound was apparent. In late 2011, Portnoy recruited Disturbed’s Moyer to fill the vacant bass slot and the beast that is known as Adrenaline Mob was born.

FATAL SMILE have released a new video for their single, ‘Welcome To The Freakshow’. This song is on the band’s up and coming CD, 21st Century Freaks which will be released May 7th.
Aerosmith tickets went on sale last weekend. It is the first time that the band will be doing a full-fledged tour of North America in years. Rumors of a new album to be released before the start of the “Global Warming” tour have only added to the rallying cry from the band’s camp that the bad boys from Boston are back in a big, big way. Perhaps in Boston they are back, but apparently, in the rest of America, not so much.
Doing research to see if Aerosmith tickets were sold out across North America yielded some interesting results. The band’s lone stop in Boston is sold out. That is to be expected, as it is Aerosmith’s hometown. However, checking stops across the rest of the tour, most notably California, and New Jersey (which serves as the only New York City area appearance) not only found the show far from sold out, but some insane great seats were still available. The reason these seats were still available can only be speculated as due to price. The lower seats for every show on this tour netted out to approximately $167 per ticket. That’s a lot of cash to see an aging band that hasn’t toured in years.
Aerosmith is also offering special packages where you can meet the band, certain members, or do a live Q&A with them. The price for this “gift” to the fans ranges between $250 and $1800. I remember when bands would meet their fans for free. Now, I have to pay (what could be for some) a month’s salary to have the opportunity to meet and hang out? What the hell is that? Pop Evil comes out after some shows and has a beer with me for free. Hell, sometimes they even buy the beer!
All of this begs the question of whether Aerosmith has lost touch with their fan base, and more importantly, have the fans lost touch with Aerosmith? Yes, once they were the darlings of the rock world, but after the recent turmoil amongst band members, the whole “Brand Tyler” saga, and the lack of a new studio album in ten years, perhaps the band isn’t the shining star they once were. Is it possible that the fans have grown weary of all the bullshit that Aerosmith has shoveled over the last decade and have now decided to revolt by not purchasing their overpriced tickets?
I’ll be the first to admit that I thought the announcement of an Aerosmith North American tour, especially with Cheap Trick opening up for them, would bring on sellouts within hours. And yet, after several announcements, e-mails, publicity, and early on-sale/pre-sale opportunities, the great seats are still available at almost all of the major venues. This is another case of an aging band being out of touch with their fans, the current state of the economy, knowing what the fans can pay, and more importantly, knowing what the fans will pay. Not every act from the 60s or 70s are going to be able to command Rolling Stone prices, because not every act has a Keith Richards or Mick Jagger. Yes, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were amazing back in the day, and they may even still be highly talented now, but their lack of attention to the fans for the last ten years appears to have finally caught up with them. And while it’s sad to think that the golden age of Aerosmith is long gone, thus revealing my own mortality with it, it’s refreshing to know that fans aren’t going to put up with crap anymore. If you want to sell tickets, lower your prices!
Even the money loving KISS lowered their ticket prices for their current tour with Motley Crue and they offered an amazing one-day special of $14 lawn seats. Now that’s a bargain! The only bargain I see coming from Aerosmith is the fact that you can watch Steven Tyler for free on American Idol. What about you? Are you going to pony up the bucks to see Aerosmith this summer? Or, are you tired of overpriced tickets and holding onto your money for something more affordable?

UNISONIC released its debut EP, Ignition earlier this year. After the addition of Hansen to the group’s lineup in early 2011, UNISONIC continued the songwriting process for its debut release, incorporating Kai’s talent for writing great anthemic rock songs into its existing material. Hardly Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 3, the UNISONIC collective effortlessly fuse the many sides of heavy music they know and love. The band’s music is versatile and takes a broad approach to heavy rock without sacrificing the power and strong, catchy melodies that characterized the band members’ previous projects.
Michael Kiske – Vocals
Mandy Meyer – Guitar
Kai Hansen – Guitar
Dennis Ward – Bass
Kosta Zafiriou – Drums

What do KISS and FnA Records have in common???
Actually, Kiss and FnA Records (www.fnarecords.net) have three things in common.
FnA Records is ecstatic to announce the signing of Gypsy Rose.
We are not referring to the Gypsy Rose that featured an early Jerry Cantrell and Mike Starr from Alice In Chains, and we are not referring to the Swedish band that ex-Accept vocalist David Reece recently joined; we are referring to the one and only Gypsy Rose that was signed to a major label contract via KISS’ Gene Simmons. In 1988, Gene Simmons (KISS), approached Canadian Rockers by the name of Gypsy Rose and made them one of his early signings to his imprint label, Simmons Records/RCA (House Of Lords, Giuffria, Silent Rage). Gypsy Rose released two singles, “Poisoned By Love” and “Don’t Turn Your Back On Me Now” which were fan favorites. Nearly a quarter of a century later, lead singer Michael Ross has resurfaced, not only with a solid solo career that once again shows off his high caliber songwriting, but with old demos and never-before-released Gypsy Rose material in hand. For those fans who have always been bummed out that there was one and only one Gypsy Rose album, the wait is now over. FnA Records has attained the rights to these early recordings which will most likely see a mid to late spring release. In addition, FnA Records sent Michael Ross into the studio to record exclusive 2012 acoustic versions of “Poisoned By Love” and “Don’t Turn Your Back On Me Now”. Keep your eyes and ears open as Gypsy Rose is looking to reform.
First there was KISS, then there was Creature!
It may be said that now days, Gene Simmons is the brains behind KISS, but that wasn’t necessarily the case in the early days. Famed manager, Bill Aucoin successfully guided a fledgling KISS to superstar status. However within a decade, KISS and Aucoin would part ways due to creative differences when KISS decided to take off the make-up. But Aucoin wasn’t done exploring the make-up and crazy costumes. Enter the band Creature in 1986, and Aucoin found himself using the same blueprint that led to KISS obtaining success and fame beyond anyone’s dreams. He guided Creatures career carefully, just as he had previously with KISS. He planned their every stage move and their wild stage show. Honestly, Creature was every bit the theatrical stage performance that KISS was. From the band literally blowing a whole in the roof of Gazzarri’s night club with a confetti cannon to have the oversized Sleaze-O-Matic machine on stage in which a pure, virginal school girl stepped into the machine where the dial was cranked to ten, and a rock-n-roll slutty metal chick stepped out, every show was a spectacle. FnA Records is set to release, To Boldly Sleaze, a 15 track party in a package with a band that was clearly being groomed to be the next big thing in theatrical rock. All the tracks have been fully remastered and many of the tracks have never even seen the light of day until now. This is definitely one of those uncovered gems that you have to hear to believe. Watch your local west coast rags, as Creature may just don the make-up and costumes one more time for a specialupcoming surprise show.
KISS Konnection #3 is a special treat for those hard-rockers that were there in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
FnA Records proudly signs one-time KISS labelmates and all-around bad-asses, The Godz. The Godz were signed to Casablanca Records in 1977 and would later that year open up for KISS on the Love Gun tour. The Godz were sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll…and definitely worthy of the cult status they now have been given. Major tours were nothing new for The Godz, as they warmed the stages for bands like Angel, Blue Oyster Cult, Kansas, Iggy Pop, and others. The stories revolving around The Godz are legendary as they quickly became well-known as rebel-rousers. Whether it was starting a bar brawl, shooting up the stage monitors, or doing tons of Jack Daniels, drugs, and women…the band became favorites to the biker crowd. While many cult bands are just that – cult bands whose stories have been written in stone, The Godz have yet to call it quits. Band leader Eric Moore is entering his fourth decade in the music business by releasing three albums and a first ever dvd via FnA Records. The label will release three albums by the Godz in May of 2012. The first album will be the legendary 1978 Laredo Texas show. The full show has been remastered and the sound has been enhanced and will surely be a treat for old-school Godz fans. The second release will be the first ever American release of the classic Godz album MONGOLIANS. Mongolians is a highly sought after gem that Godz fans have been clamoring for over the years. Probably the bands heaviest album, Mongolians initially sold well (if you could find it) with very little label support. This album usually commands a high dollar price tag and trying to find a copy in this day and age is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Mongolians, which will be sonically enhanced and remastered, will now be available to fans new and old for a decent price via FnA Records. The last album being released will titilate and stimulate true Godz fans. Chock full of never before released tracks, b-sides, import only tracks, live tracks, and more The Godz – From The Vault Volume 1 is sure to become a collectors piece amongst the die-hard Godz fans. All CD’s will be available at a fan friendly price, and a limited number of each CD will come autographed and numbered with an official hologram sticker. Special package deals will be available for those that want to purchase all 3 albums at once. The first ever Godz DVD will be completed sometime this summer as fan material is still being compiled.

Produced by Kevin Shirley, “Driving Towards The Daylight” highlights Bonamassa’s signature style of blues, roots, and rock & roll. The album features a unique group of musicians, including Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford (guitar), Blondie Chaplin (guitar), Anton Fig (drums and percussion), Arlan Schierbaum (keyboard), Michael Rhodes (bass), Carmine Rojas (bass), Jeff Bova and The Bovaland Brass, Pat Thrall (guitar), and Whitford’s son Harrison Whitford (guitar).
“Driving Towards The Daylight” includes five Bonamassa-penned originals, including bruising opener Dislocated Boy, the title track Driving Towards The Daylight, I Got All You Need, Heavenly Soul, and Somewhere Trouble Don’t Go. Other tracks include Joe’s versions of Tom Waits’ New Coat Of Paint, Bill Withers’ Lonely Town Lonely Street, and Bernie Marsden’s A Place In My Heart. On the album closer, Australian rock singer Jimmy Barnes sings lead vocals on his 1987 hit Too Much Ain’t Enough Love.
Premiering today, and continuing each week for ten episodes is Countdown To Daylight, the new reality series of 3-4 minute webisodes, featuring interviews with Joe and his band as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the band recording Driving Towards The Daylight in the studio. Tune in every Friday for a new episode on Joe’s official YouTube channel – here.
SPIDER ROCKETS combine contemporary loud rock with classic rock elements. The New Jersey based band travels the sonic spectrum from dark and seductive to energetic to angry, with a dynamic live show and scream-along anthems. Interestingly enough for a band called SPIDER ROCKETS, it is a bit strange that every member of the band is afraid of spiders… although it seems that they may be starting to overcome their fear based on the title of their new album Bitten.
The album artwork and track listing for the new SPIDER ROCKETS release Bitten has just been revealed today. Bitten will be released June 5th in North America.
Lead Singer Helena Cos spoke about Bitten:
“With this record, we made a focused effort to concentrate on the art of song-crafting and streamlining while still rocking hard…. I think the album is all the better for it.”
On Bitten, the band worked once again with producer Eric Rachel in New Jersey. In South Florida, Ryan Sambrook provided additional production and Zach Ziskin mixed the album. From both a compositional and performance standpoint, Bitten is the group’s strongest work to date. Long before completion of the record, an early rendition of one stand-out track “Scream,” garnered over 35,000 hits on YouTube without any promotional efforts and no official release. It is available for viewing HERE.
SPIDER ROCKETS was one of the last acts famed manager Bill Aucoin (who has managed acts including: Kiss, Lordi, Tantric and others) was contemplating taking on. When Aucoin passed away in 2010, his long time partner and companion, Roman Fernandez, took over day-to-day management of SPIDER ROCKETS. Fernandez did this because he truly believes in the band and wants to make sure SPIDER ROCKETS continue following in the legacy of Aucoin.
Loud rock has always been at the core of the group. Lead singer, Helena Cos, and guitarist,
Johnny Nap, started as a duo playing every dive bar in New Jersey and New York City. In
between cranking out crowd favorites from AC/DC, Judas Priest, Guns n’ Roses and Metallica, the two would test the waters by infusing some of their original material into the live set. This was a unique setup as the two had an electronic rhythm section and pumped out loud rock, something unheard of in the genre.
The duo soon expanded to a full lineup and began working with Brooklyn-based indie producer, Martin Bisi, best known for recording iconic albums by Sonic Youth, John Zorn, Herbie Hancock (including the Grammy-winning “Rockit”), Helmet and White Zombie. Still in their infancy, the group managed to release their first effort, “Flipped Off,” which officially marked the end of the electronic rock duo format.
The group produced their next release, the self-titled “SPIDER ROCKETS,” closer to home at Trax East in their native New Jersey. With Eric Rachel manning the boards (Atreyu, Black Dahlia Murder, Hatebreed, Misfits, Patti Smith Group, etc.), the group issued a more musically progressive offering. By now, the group had began touring on a national scale and supporting the likes of Pop Evil, Framing Hanley, ran a leg on Van’s Warped Tour and scored a slot at Berlin’s Popkomm Festival.
Now, savvy at the art of song-crafting, Spider Rockets are ready to unleash Bitten upon the masses. SPIDER ROCKETS will be lining up national tour dates in support of the album with the first show scheduled for June 9th at Sherlock’s in Erie, Pennsylvania. More dates are expected to be announced shortly.
Bitten Track Listing:
1) Going Down
2) So High
4) Don’t Need You
7) Twilight Zone
8) Better When It’s Loud
9) Nothing Left
10) Bring Me Around

RECORDING SELF-PRODUCED ALBUM AT HIS OWN SERJICAL STRIKE STUDIOS IN LA
Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, poet, political activist and System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian is in his Serjical Strike Studios in LA putting the finishing touches on his third solo studio album, Harakiri, the follow-up to 2010’s Imperfect Harmonies, which will be released this summer on Serjical Strike/Reprise Records.
Much of the new record was written in 2011, which was an incredibly busy year for the diversely talented musician and what Serj describes as “the busiest, most productive year of my life so far.” In February, the rock musical Prometheus Bound, which he composed all of the music for, opened at the Oberon Theater at Harvard in Boston to rave reviews. 2011 also saw Serj release his second poetry book, Glaring Through Oblivion. He toured with System of a Down across three continents, performed with the Opera Orchestra in Yerevan, Armenia, where he also had political meetings with heads of state and hosted non-profit events. He then performed his first ever concert in Lebanon, the place of his birth, with the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra. When he returned to the US, he finished writing four records: a jazz record, an electronic record he wrote with his friend Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence, a full classical symphony called Orca, and the new solo rock record that he is currently mastering.
“The year 2011 started with a fire. Some kids in Piha, NZ were setting off fireworks that landed on my neighbor’s property and lit the whole hill on fire. I knew it was going to be a hell of a year and it certainly was,” says Tankian. “Within 5 days of that, reports came out about birds and fish dying in massive numbers globally. The omen was not lost on me. Varied creatures on earth were committing massive hara-kiri (the Japanese term signifying ritualistic suicide.) Do they know something we don’t about the coming times or the sustainability of the environment? That is the day I started writing this record.”
The symbolism of entire species eradicating themselves on a large scale struck Serj emotionally, and is an underlying theme on the entire record. He took that idea and went to work writing, incorporating all of the experiences of his chaotic year to make a different kind of record. “The record is different than any I’ve made as a solo artist. It is much more driving and punk oriented with influences ranging from goth to electronic to 80’s vibes, dynamically heavy rock to epic melodic songs. Lyrically, it spans the gauntlet of themes from personal, political and philosophical to spiritual, humor and love.”
He also tried to approach writing a little differently this time around. “I used the Apple iPad as a songwriting instrument to sketch out three of the songs on the record. We must trick ourselves into writing in different ways to get unexpected results.”
The new album is slated for a summer release, and is all performed, written, produced, and engineered by Serj. The album will also feature performances by Serj’s touring band, The F.C.C. – Dan Monti on guitar, Mario Pagliarulo on bass, and Troy Zeigler on drums. Dan Monti is also co-mixing and co-engineering the album with Serj. The album will be mastered by Vlado Meller (Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, Beastie Boys.)
Expect an album announcement and new music from Serj in the very near future.
The musicians in Overkill are angry….. METAL Thrashin’ Angry. At least that is what
I have gathered from listening to Overkill’s newest release, The Electric Age. What is stoking the band’s fire? I don’t know. What I do know is, the music on The Electric Age is easily some of the best that Overkill has ever recorded.
From the thundering bass of D.D. Verni on the opening cut, “Come and Get It”, to the final notes of “Good Night”,Overkill have recorded what I consider, one of the best thrash metal albums of the last decade.
Dave Linsk has delivered some of the best guitar work of his career. From the high-speed riffs of “Come and Get It” to the semi slower paced, Testament like tune “Black Daze”, The Electric Age is packed full killer riffs that classic thrash fans are going to love. On the album closer Good Night, Linsk sounds as if he is channeling Dave Mustaine. Awesome! The furious growls and vocals of Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth have never sounded better.
There is no need to give you a song by song breakdown. You are going to want to hear all of the songs on this CD! Some of my personal favorites are “Electric Rattlesnake”, “Wish You Were Dead” “Black Daze” and “Drop the Hammer Down”
In my opinion, Overkill has recorded an album that not surpasses their previous effort, Ironbound, but also surpasses the recent offerings from Metallica, and Megadeth.
In the illustrious words of Mr. Ellsworth, The Electric Age is “More than you can take, make no mistake”. Don’t miss out on one of the best metal albums of 2012 so far! To my ears, Overkill has recorded a true thrashterpeace with The Electric Age. I can’t stop listening to this!
Highly recommended! Buy The Electric Age here!

Following the great success of their recent UK tour with 3 Doors Down, TAKIDA prepare to unleash their debut UK single, ‘You Learn’, released on May 7th through Universal, and taken from the forthcoming UK album, ‘The Burning Heart’.
With no 6-figure budgets to blow open the doors of the Top 10, Sweden’s TAKIDA have become genuine shooting stars. Fact is; above all else, these are five guys who focus all their attention on writing great songs. In 2006 the single, ‘Losing’ entered the Swedish charts at No. 2 and stayed Top Ten for weeks on end and the album it was taken from, ‘Make You Breathe’, ultimately became the best-selling rock album in Sweden that year.
2007 saw the follow-up album ‘Bury The Lies’ go one step further with both the album and the single ‘Curly Sue’ rocketing straight to the respective No. 1 spots! The single stayed at the top position on the national radio charts for 10 weeks, making it the most-played radio song in 2008 – little wonder then that the band was nominated for two Grammys sending the album to Platinum status. 4 more No.1 singles followed! ‘Handlake Village’, ‘The Things We Owe’, ‘Never Alone Always Alone’ and this forthcoming UK release ‘You Learn’.
