The American/German symphonic metal band KAMELOT is proud to announce another key piece leading to the release of their new studio album.
A question foremost in every KAMELOT fan’s mind has been: Who is the group’s new lead singer?*
Band mastermind and guitarist Thomas Youngblood has now revealed: “The new man is Scandinavian Tommy Karevik!”
The general public may not be overly familiar with the 30 year old Swede, Karevik, but people in the industry know him as the immensely talented frontman of the Swedish band, Seventh Wonder. Youngblood states: “We had around 800 candidates for the vacant position, among them a number of really renowned musicians, and having to reject them really wasn’t easy. We want to thank all the applicants, thank you for your understanding and we wish you all lots of success in the future!”
The search for Tommy Karevik…..
In their search for a new singer, Thomas Youngblood found YouTube to be an amazing tool: “I listened to a clip of a studio production featuring Tommy and have to confess that his performance really amazed me. His approach to melodies and themes suits KAMELOT perfectly, and during our European shows we had plenty of opportunity to find out what a great guy he is.”
Tommy first appeared as one of the guest singers on KAMELOT‘s very successful 2011 Pandemonium World Tour. Live footage HERE. Tommy states: “The tour was a lot of fun and I met a lot of nice people and got some good experience. The guys were super nice and we had a great time together! By then I was really into the band’s music and had fallen in love with the amazingly loyal and dedicated fans at every show.”
Karevik is thrilled about his new position: “I am so honored to now be a part of this family and I can`t wait to move into the new era of the band together with the guys. I fully understand that this comes with great responsibility and that it will be a big challenge for me as a singer as well as a person, but you can rest assured I will give it my all. From this day, a new journey has begun and I am really eager to meet you all along the way to share my passion for this music!”
KAMELOT‘s new album is planned for a September 2012 release, which coincides with the beginning a massive World Tour that will bring the band to nearly every continent on the planet. See Kamelot.com for already scheduled concert dates!

Tommy Karevik Bio:
I was born on the 1st of November 1981 just south of Stockholm in a suburb called Botkyrka. Raised with music within the family, my sister Jenny and I were surrounded by the great songs of that time. Growing up I only sang for fun and because it was a natural thing for me. I even joined the school choir as one of the two only boys there…At the age of 12 my mother took me to see “The Phantom of the Opera” and I remember being totally floored by the music, the voices and the ambiance… I guess you could say that this is where it all started…
After elementary school Jenny was accepted into a musical collage but I was more into sports at the time. I was studying Nature and Science in college and it wasn`t until my 2nd year when I was 16 years old, that I “discovered music” for real.
In my class there was a guy called Johan Larsson who was a musician and a guitar player. We instantly became good friends, and inspired by his musicality I picked up the guitar for the first time. During the days that followed I wrote my first song… It was in Swedish and I was really proud. Johan and I wrote a lot of music together during that time and it really helped me to develop my singing as well.
My first contact with metal music was also through Johan. For me it was a new world of music that opened before me. Coming from Musicals and artists like QUEEN, MICHAEL JACKSON and ABBA, I started to interest myself in the more melodic side of metal like DREAM THEATER, SYMPHONY X, SONATA ARCTICA and A.C.T. But my biggest wake-up call was when I heard Jorn Lande for the first time… I couldn`t believe my ears – and I still can`t. I started practicing to sing like all the great artists I loved and somehow found my own style in the middle of it.
In 2004 I was asked to write and sing on a metal project with Stefan Lindholm. The project was called VINDICTIV and the vocals were recorded together with Johan in his home studio. Later that same year I was contacted by the Stockholm based prog metal band SEVENTH WONDER. They had heard the recordings with VINDICTIV and asked me if I wanted to come and audition for the singer position. They were about to release their first studio album and had just parted ways with their previous singer. I did the audition and a couple of days later they called me on the phone asking me if I wanted in. I happily accepted.
Since that day I have recorded 3 studio albums a played a lot of great shows with SEVENTH WONDER and I have a lot to thank the guys in the band for. They are all fantastic musicians and great friends. Apart from the known ones, my musical heroes remain my sister Jenny, Johan Larsson and my SW family. As for today I am still in the band and have no intention of leaving.
In September 2010, we were heading to Atlanta with SW to play the well known festival Progpower USA. One of the headliners of the festival was KAMELOT. Roy had just left the band prior to the North American tour and I was asked by Thomas Youngblood to perform a song with them on the night of their show. So I did, and joined stage with my friend Michael Eriksen of CIRCUS MAXIMUS who covered for Khan that night.
Shortly after, Thomas called me again asking if I wanted to join them on the European tour as a guest vocalist together with Fabio Lione. The tour was a lot of fun and I met a lot of nice people and got some good experience. The guys were super nice and we had a great time together!
By now I was really into the music of the band and had fallen in love with the amazingly loyal and dedicated fans at every show.
We kept contact throughout the whole process of auditioning singers, and I sent some demos of new material their way…
When I finally was asked if I wanted to be the singer in the band I was very happy and gladly accepted the offer!
A lot of time and energy has been poured in the next album to make sure every die hard KAMELOT fan gets what he/she deserves! I can`t wait to share it with all of you!
All the best and here is to the next chapter!
– Tommy Karevik
will kick off a headline tour on June 23rd
Tour supports their most recent release, “THE STRANGE CASE OF…”
- Halestorm recently made history with their electrifying new single, “Love Bites (So Do I)” when the track ascended to #1 at Active Rock radio outlets nationwide, marking the first ever female-fronted group to top the format’s airplay ranking
- The band just wrapped up the Mass Chaos tour with Staind and Godsmack
- “THE STRANGE CASE OF…” made a #1 debut on Billboard’s “Hard Rock Albums” chart, while also making a top 15 entry onto the overall Billboard 200, upon its release in April
Produced by Howard Benson (who previously collaborated with Halestorm on their self-titled 2009 debut), “THE STRANGE CASE OF…” includes such explosive tracks as “Here’s To Us,” which shot to #1 on iTunes’ “Top Rock Songs” chart after being featured in a February 2012 episode of Fox’s hit series, Glee. Along with its popular success, “THE STRANGE CASE OF…” has also drawn critical acclaim, with Billboard praising the collection as “full of chugging riffs, wailing solos, drums that kick like a boot to the gut, and never-out-of-style soft/loud dynamics that lead to massive choruses.” “Led by one of our favorite rocker babes, singer-guitarist Lzzy Hale, (Halestorm) promise a more personal album for their follow-up,” noted Revolver in its album preview. “But don’t expect them to get all sappy on us. There should still be more than enough of the band’s now signature raucous attitude and righteous riffs for any headbanger to get off.”
Formed by frontwoman Lzzy Hale and her brother, drummer Arejay Hale, Halestorm has been hailed far and wide as an incendiary force in modern hard rock. “HALESTORM” made a top 5 debut on SoundScan’s “Hard Music” chart upon its 2009 release, simultaneously bursting into the top 40 on the comprehensive Billboard 200. The album subsequently sold more than 300,000 copies, and half a million cumulative tracks. Produced by Howard Benson (Daughtry, My Chemical Romance, Flyleaf), the album earned extensive acclaim for its infectious hard rock anthems, sexy hooks, and rough-and-tumble grooves. True road warriors, Halestorm made its bones as a major league hard rock outfit via countless North American gigs alongside such artists as Shinedown, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for My Valentine, and Disturbed. Last year saw the band traveling the country on the blockbuster “Avalanche Tour 2011,” joining such hard rock luminaries as Stone Sour, Theory of a Deadman, and fellow Atlantic recording group Skillet.

KILL DEVIL HILL the new project featuring acclaimed drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell, Dio) and bassist Rex Brown, (Pantera, Down) guitar slinger Mark Zavon and lead vocalist Dewey Bragg have confirmed a new string of tour dates for late this summer beginning August 1st. More dates are expected to be announced shortly. A list of confirmed dates can be found below.
KILL DEVIL HILL’s self-titled debut album was released May 22nd via Steamhammer/SPV and landed at #9 on the Billboard Top New Artist Albums (HeatSeekers) Chart, #41 on the Top Hard Music Chart and #50 on the Independent Album Chart.
The band recently released a video for the single “Strange”. Check it out on the SPV YouTube Channel HERE.
It’s not easy to say what catches the listener’s attention first on Kill Devil Hill, the debut album by the newly formed band of the same name: the strong guitar hooks, the killer grooves, the dynamic production or the potent vocal melodies. Rex Brown, bassist of this supergroup and erstwhile member of Pantera and Down sees KILL DEVIL HILL in its entirety as an extremely exciting new band “To me, this band is a musical adventure trip,” he reckons. Brown knows what he’s talking about, after all he was involved in some of the most important rock and metal recordings of the past 30 years. So if Brown can hardly contain his enthusiasm, there must be something special to the KILL DEVIL HILL phenomenon.

Canadian metallic hard rock band FAMOUS UNDERGROUND featuring ex-Slik Toxik singer (Juno Award winner) Nick Walsh signs management deal with Germany’s ROCK N GROWL MANAGEMENT. Video trailer for the upcoming epic video ‘Dead Weight‘ can be viewed below.
The group, consists of the following musicians: Nick Walsh – vocals, guitars, Laurie-Anne Green – Bass, Rick Corvese – Guitars, Darren Boyd – Guitars and Desche Sparboom – drums.
FAMOUS UNDERGROUND haven ever strayed from their life-long dedication to hard rock and metal music and lock the power and energy into 4-minute songs with great hooks. FAMOUS UNDERGROUND’S sound and music is edgy, melodic and hookybringing a paradigm shift to the arena of rock. It’s been said, that they have created something fresh and exciting in an otherwise stagnated genre. With the conclusion that no-one has definitive comparisons, Carl Begai writer with elite hard rock/metal magazine BW&BK describes the new recording as “it’s a darker if-Metallica-were-Guns-N-Roses direction with this brand new album.”
Nick says of the signing ‘we have been building relations with Axel for the past year and we all felt that the timing was right for us to finally seal the deal. We are totally pumped to have his passion and knowledge within the F.U. family.’
‘We have never had the right opportunity before to bring our brand of metal to the European market,’Laurie-Anne states. ‘The anticipation of playing on the European stages is very exciting to us and we are ready to come over and rock out.’
ROCK N GROWL & FAMOUS UNDERGROUND currently shopping the brand new self titled album, to find a suitable record deal very soon.
“Old Hero’s Prayer” is the second video taken from Soul Seller’s sophomore album “Back To Life”, which saw it’s release in the fall of 2011 through Avenue Of Allies.
The follow-up to their first ever music video for the Melodic Rock anthem “Wings Of Freedom” was directed by the Bajiji Bros who recently also made the clip for Hardline’s “Fever Dreams”.
SOUL SELLER have lined-up a some live dates for the fall to continue to present the “Back To Life” record to the public and they plan to add more dates in the coming weeks:
Sunday, September 9th – Cafasse – Torino (Italy)

Let’s make one thing perfectly clear — if you are a fan of the harder side of Hard Rock Hideout, you are not going to have any interest in Donnie Vie’s solo effort, Wrapped Around My Middle Finger. That having been said, if you like the softer side of rock once in a while, then this is an album you will fall in love with. Even without his band mates from Enuff Z’Nuff, Donnie Vie has put out some spectacular, haunting, beautiful music.
As he has done for years in Enuff Z’Nuff, Donnie Vie writes sweet, smooth melodies overlaid with beautiful lyrics. On Wrapped Around My Middle Finger Vie tends to lean toward the ballads and moderate tempo songs, but they are so expertly crafted that it is a joy to hear them. While there may not be any cranking guitars or drum solos, there is still impressive, beautiful, melodic music.
Starting with the opening notes of the title track, “Wrapped Around My Middle Finger” sucks you in to hear more. The amazing “Lisa” and hook catchy “Now Ya Know” lead the way in anchoring the album as a solid record. After a few spins, every listener will find themselves singing along to “Now Ya Know.” “I Won’t Let You Down” is another love song done right. The changes and expert guitar playing mixed in with Vie’s raspy vocals create a fantastic song that is one of the best the album has to offer.
Vie continues to inspire. Even after more than 20 years of song writing, he is still able to craft fresh lyrics blended with perfect harmonies and melodies that never tire. Wrapped Around My Middle Finger is just another example of the great artist Donnie Vie is. If you are a fan of Enuff Z’Nuff’s softer side, exceptional lyrics, or superb soft melodies that are easy to sing along with, then you are going to love Wrapped Around My Middle Finger.

Multi-instrumentalist ARJEN LUCASSEN has posted a new video for the track “Pink Beatles in a Purple Zeppelin,” taken from his recently released concept solo album, Lost In The New Real. The video was mainly shot where ARJEN grew up, near the sea in Holland. In regards to the video, ARJEN comments: “It’s a very ‘Dutch’ clip, windmills and all! So you could say this clip goes back to my roots, also musically. It features many visual links (at least 10!) to the bands and albums that I grew up listening to. Peace, man!”
Featuring artwork created by ARJEN and renowned designer Claudio Bergamin, plus an appearance by legendary actor Rutger Hauer as the album’s narrator, Lost In The New Real is a double-CD that tells the story of Mr. L, a 21st century man who was cryo-preserved at the moment of clinical death from a terminal disease. The album begins as Mr. L is being revived at a point in the distant future, when technology has advanced enough to cure his disease. Mr. L finds himself in a world that has drastically changed — to the point that the line between what’s real and what’s not is no longer clear.
The tracks on disc 1 follow Mr. L’s emotional journey as he is confronted with both serious and comical aspects of the “New Real” and desperately tries to decide if he can find a meaningful place within it. Disc 2 is a mix of tracks that are part of the concept but didn’t fit on disc 1, plus cover songs related to the concept.

ARJEN LUCASSEN online:
“Over the past few months, there have been growing creative differences within Queensryche. We want our fans to know that we hoped to find a common resolution, but in the end parting ways with Geoff was the best way for everyone to move forward in a positive direction,” drummer Scott Rockenfield said in a statement. “We wish him the best of luck with all of his future endeavors. We can’t wait to bring Queensryche to our fans with Todd behind the microphone.”
The statement also said that scheduled Queensryche performances “are on hold at [the] present time and revised routing is being worked on. Fans can check the band’s website for all of the latest tour information as it [becomes] available.”
Billboard requested a comment from Tate through Jeff Albright of the Albright Entertainment Group, but it wasn’t received by press time.
Queensryche also includes guitarists Michael Wilton and Parker Lundgren and bassist Eddie Jackson. Rockenfield, Wilton and Jackson are among the group’s original members. Tate joined the band after it formed in 1981. Guitarist and founding member Chris DeGarmo left Queensryche in 1997 and briefly rejoined in 2003 for Queensryche’s “Tribe” album. Kelly Gray originally filled DeGarmo’s slot, followed by Mike Stone, until Lundgren joined in 2009.
La Torre said in a statement a few weeks ago, and reiterated during an interview on Ron Keel’s “Streets of Rock & Roll” radio show that was posted online on June 14, that he still remains a member of Crimson Glory.
Fans and media have speculated about the state of Queensryche, which marked its 30th anniversary last year, for weeks due to rumors of internal conflict. They were sparked by an unconfirmed posting on MetalSludge.tv that Tate allegedly became violent toward other bandmates prior to an April show in Brazil after allegedly being fired. Then, during the Rocklahoma fest during Memorial Day weekend, Tate told the crowd “you guys suck” as he tried to get the audience to respond more enthusiastically.
On May 29 the other members of Queensryche announced it was forming a project called Rising West with La Torre. Rising West posted June 5 on its Facebook page that it was “being denied access to our own Facebook page and website (meaning Queensryche),” which promoted other side projects, such as Tate’s wine business and Rockenfield’s recording endeavors. In response, Tate’s step-daughter, Miranda, posted June 7 on Facebook that “it’s about time to get some truth on the table” and denied that other members couldn’t access the site, among other alleged problems. Rising West played Queensryche’s older material at two sold-out shows June 8-9 at Seattle’s Hard Rock Cafe.
In subsequent interviews, Rising West and Tate deflected questions about the situation. When Rising West appeared June 7 on KISM Seattle radio show “The Men’s Room,” Rockenfield said it was “a day-to-day” process as Queensryche determined its next move, but the band would definitely continue. Blabbermouth.net reported that during a June 15 interview on KISW, Tate said, “Just hang in there. Everything’s moving along and everything’s looking good” regarding the group.
Queensryche was scheduled to perform June 11 to open for the Scorpions in West Valley City, Utah, but only Tate appeared, backed by his solo band. NRToday.com reported June 18 that Queensryche had canceled its Aug. 10 appearance at the Douglas County Fair in Oregon, with Eddie Money replacing the act. It stated that fairgrounds director Harold Phillips attributed the cancellation to a falling out between Tate and the band. Tate has continued playing dates on his solo tour, which coincided with Queensryche’s dates for its current tour.
Queensryche is a Grammy Award-nominated band that broke into the mainstream with the 1988 concept album “Operation: Mindcrime.” The group has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, according to the statement. It’s biggest U.S. radio hit was 1991’s “Silent Lucidity,” which reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Augsburg, Germany-based sleaze/glam quartet HOLLYWOOD BURNOUTS will release their debut full-length in North America this July 31st, via Rock Road Records and Soulfood Distribution.
Boasting melodies and choruses obviously inspired by the massively popular glam and hard rock heroes of the ’80s and early ’90s, with straightforward riffs and influences rooted in blues and classic heavy metal channeling through their infectious tunes, HOLLYWOOD BURNOUTS released a successful demo in 2009, followed by a self-titled EP in 2010 since their 2008 formation. The band have attracted a massive fanbase throughout Germany and well beyond at this point, having performed on national and international shows supporting Cinderella, Bonfire, Hardcore Superstar, Crashdiet, Dokken and many others.
HOLLYWOOD BURNOUTS‘ debut album, Excess All Areas, was released to critical acclaim within the European territories in March, and the forthcoming North American release should bring a whole new realm of fans into their world. Art of Dying have just released a new video for “Sorry – acoustic.” Inspired by Art of Dying’s fans’ reaction to the original release of “Sorry,” the acoustic video incorporates “fanpics” with the new version of the song.
“Recently we had the chance to get into the studio with producer Dan Donegan from Disturbed to lay down an acoustic version of ‘Sorry.’ We’ve been so touched by all of the ‘Sorry profile pics’ over the last few months that we decided to make a video for the acoustic version of the song featuring our biggest fans.” explains lead singer, Jonny Hetherington, of the release. “Thanks for making this video possible, we couldn’t have done it without you!”
“Sorry” is the third single off the band’s major label debut, Vices and Virtues and is currently Top 15 on the Active Rock chart.

Its deep foundation in rock – including bands like Deftones and Oleander, music executives coming out of the area, and vital stations like KDOT, KBRE, and our partner station 98 Rock – proves that rock is a mainstay in Northern California.”

SCUM OF THE EARTH has set a worldwide release date of August 28 for their third album, THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT, on the Chicago-based Goomba Music, Inc. label (with distribution through eOne in North America). Produced by horror-rocker RIGGS and Volkstoker, it was recorded at “Scum HQ” in Branson, MO and is the follow-up to 2007’s SLEAZE FREAK (Eclipse Records).
With their new video for the bombastic power ballad “Solid Ground” the Swedish rockers of ANGELINE present the third clip to promote their current album “Disconnected”, which was released in December 2011 through Avenue Of Allies.
The video was shot by director Gudrun Lindfors Rönnblom on an old air field outside of Stockholm. The wide open space underlines the epic dimensions of „Solid Ground“ a tune close to the hearts of the band members ever since it was written.
Lindfors previously worked with Angeline while making the award winning documentary “Sigge Stardust” about the bands late original lead singer Jörgen “Sigge” Sigvardsson, who died of the health implications of a heart disease back in 1995.
2012 sees ANGELINE celebrating its 25th anniversary as a band and the boys are planning a special surprise for their fans for which they already booked a studio in August, the result will be revealed this fall.
Before In This Moment took the stage at Rock on the Range, I had no idea what to expect. I have never seen the band perform live. I knew a lot of their music, and thought they would be one of the heaviest bands on the two day bill at ROTR. The band has played several festivals including Ozzfest and Mayhem, but this is the first time they performed at Rock on the Range.
When the band came out, I didn’t know whether to be terrified or extremely entertained. Once the beautiful Maria Brink and her ghastly band mates took the stage, I knew without question, it would be the latter. With the exception of Maria Brink, all of the members of In This Moment had their faces painted in a dark charcoal color, and masks over the lower part of their faces. In This Moment has a couple of newer members with Tom Hane on drums and Randy Weitzel on rhythm guitar, but face paint aside, you would have never known it.
Maria’s powerful vocals was the driving force behind the tight set the band played at ROTR. In This Moment played a few songs from their up and coming CD Blood. Based on the new songs I heard, In this Moment is going to have a very big year in the hard rock and metal world. Their set was definitely one of the highlights at the 2012 Rock on the Range.
You can check out the title track “Blood” below. Please check out our In This Moment gallery from Rock on the Range as well.

On DAYS GO BY, the Huntington Beach, CA quartet–Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar), Noodles (guitar), Greg Kriesel (bass) and Pete Parada (drums)—once again break all the rules in true punk fashion on their ninth album. The title track and first single “Days Go By” glides on an irresistible riff and arena-sized hook. Meanwhile, “OC Guns” swings from swaggering SoCal reggae into a mariachi breakdown and “Cruising California (Bumpin’ in My Trunk)” jokingly recounts an afternoon rolling around the beach with nothing but time to kill and scantily girls to flirt with. Then, there’s the final speed punk death march of dual salvo “Dividing by Zero” and “Slim Pickens Does The Right Thing And Rides The Bomb To Hell.” It’s unique, unpredictable and undeniably THE OFFSPRING.
Catch THE OFFSPRING on the road in the following cities: http://www.offspring.com/tour.
Reb Beach has reformed the Reb Beach Project after a 12 year absence.
The Reb Beach Project’s first gig will be at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, opening for Tesla on August 15. The Reb Beach Project features, David Throckmorton on drums, and Tommy Bellin on bass. Throckmorton and Bellin both played on Reb’s 2001 Solo CD, Masquerade.

After a busy spring which included extensive tours of the UK and Europe, chart-topping Welsh rockers Lostprophets are fired up and ready for their North American fans to finally hear Weapons, the band’s latest LP, which will be released by Fearless Records on June 19th.
Weapons is now streaming in its entirety on AOL Music at: http://music.aol.com/new-releases-full-cds#/7.
This summer, the band will join the long-running Vans Warped Tour, where they will play Main Stage from July 12-August 5. “Warped Tour will remind everyone – old fans and new – how good it is having Lostprophets on these shores. It’s been a long time since a UK rock band has made a real impact in America and we’re ready to carry that torch,” says front man Ian Watkins.
Following the band’s Warped run, Lostprophets will embark on a string of west coast headline shows, kicking off August 7th in Sacramento, CA (see dates below).
Lostprophets are also confirmed to headline the Warped Tour’s long-awaited return to the UK in November.
Formed in Pontypridd, South Wales, the Welsh rock band have made their mark on both sides of the Atlantic with their blend of strong melodic choruses and aggressively edged rock. Through four previous albums – 2000’s fakesoundofprogress, 2004’s Start Something, 2006’s Liberation Transmission, and 2010’s The Betrayed – the band has grown, both in songwriting and success, stacking up a dozen or so top 40 singles and selling over 3 million albums worldwide. Recipients of Kerrang! Magazine’s 2010’s Classic Songwriters Award, Lostprophets have become one of the U.K.’s biggest rock bands, gracing countless magazine covers and headlining stages at Reading/Leeds and Download Festivals.
Weapons marks the band’s first North American release since Liberation Transmission (2006) and was recorded in North Hollywood, CA at NRG Studios with producer Ken Andrews (A Perfect Circle, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club).
Bassist Stu Richardson recently talked to Alternative Press about each of the songs that make up the new album: http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/track_by_track_lostprophets_weapons.
Weapon Deluxe Edition (featuring 5 bonus tracks ) is now available on iTunes at: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/weapons-deluxe-edition/id528760763.
You can also pick up your copy of Weapons in stores, at any local Hot Topic, Best Buy or FYE.

Iron Maiden fans have plenty to be excited about this summer. Not only is the band touring North America, performing hits from the “Maiden England” days, but there is also a brand new biography out encapsulating every excruciating detail. On June 26th, just as Iron Maiden will be launching their North American tour, Voyageur Press will release Iron Maiden: The Ultimate Unauthorized History Of The Beast written by Neil Daniels.
There is no need to search any further for the complete playbook companion to one of the greatest bands in the history of music. Neil Daniels biography of Iron Maiden is a magnum opus that nothing can compare to. Any other book on the band (and there are plenty) is just not as grand as The Ultimate Unauthorized History Of The Beast. This biography has everything that an Iron Maiden fan could want and more.
Containing hundreds of photographs of the band from their earliest days all the way to their last tour behind The Final Frontier this book will leave even the die-hard Maiden fans starry eyed. A photo of every album and single cover is captured alongside full color photographs of concert tickets, tour posters, and flyers from the earliest days of the band’s existence. Concert Tour T-shirts, magnificent shots of Bruce Dickinson and the band in action, as well as the days of Paul DiAnno and Blazy Bayley, are all captured within. Setlists from every tour are posted and tour dates, direct from Steve Harris’ journal, are also included.
Have you ever wondered whatever to former members of the band, like original lead singer Paul Day and former drummer, Clive Burr? There is an incredible where are they now section at the end of the book informing fans where all of these former members have ended up over the years.
An intimate portrait/review of every Iron Maiden album, written by some of the biggest names in rock journalism, is the icing on the cake of this magnificent read. Starting with the self titled debut and running all the way through The Final Frontier, writers such as Mick Wall, Garry Bushell, Gavin Baddeley, and Ian Christie all cover their intricate, detailed, review of each Iron Maiden studio album released over the last 30-plus years.
The Ultimate Unauthorized History Of The Beast is more than just photographs and memorabilia replicas, it is also a well written, detailed portrait of Iron Maiden throughout the years. Starting in the earliest days of Steve Harris’ vision of the band and running through The Final Frontier tour, Neil Daniels has left no stone unturned. Paul Di’Anno’s departure from the band and the introduction of Bruce Dickinson is covered in great detail.
Capturing the latest information regarding Di’Anno’s departure (it was NOT about drugs) and segueing into Dickinson’s arrival (he was one of twelve finalists for the coveted lead singer position) Daniels provides well documented, well researched details that only an expert biographer would think to include. With his smooth writing style, Daniel pulls the reader into the story of Iron Maiden as if they were a fly on the wall, witnessing everything (good AND bad) that has happened in the long, storied history of one of the greatest metal bands of all time.
Ian Daniels also delves into the Blaze Bayley years and recaptures the essence of the mid-nineties and all of the changes that Iron Maiden went through bringing in this new lead singer. The split from Dickinson was not on the best of terms and the negative comments of the former lead singer, as well as the fan backlash to this new singer are all provided for die-hard fans to remember and, in some instances, to learn about. Low ticket sales, smaller venues being played, and boos from fans in North America all helped to contribute to the departure of Blaze after 1998’s Virtual XI. It was a trying period for the band and Daniels leaves out no details in his writing.
Ending with the return of Bruce Dickinson and the last decade of Iron Maiden history (2000 – 2010), The Ultimate Unauthorized History Of The Beast covers it all. The incident with the Osbournes during the 2005 Ozzfest tour is covered in great detail and the facts are laid out for the reader to determine. The following re-conquering of North America and the band’s first top ten American album is documented as the next steps in Maiden history. From there, Daniels details the final current years of Iron Maiden and leaves the door open for the future of the band.
If you are a fan of Iron Maiden, then The Ultimate Unauthorized History Of The Beast is a must own book for your collection. If you are a casual fan wanting to learn more about Iron Maiden and their amazing history, then consider this your Bible. Anything that you ever wanted to know about Iron Maiden is all captured in permanent ink. From the well written scripture to the amazing photographs, to the awesome images of every Iron Maiden album and single cover, The Ultimate Unauthorized History Of The Beast is an Iron Maiden fan’s dream come true.

“Finding songs that seem to want to join hands with others is a special task that require the right people… and the right songs!” said RHCP guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. “Some songs seem to have a lot more of an agenda than others. Some songs play well with others and some songs need more attention and a little extra care. Here are some songs that seemed to want to pair up and take a later train. Keep your eye on them, they’re up to something…”
Each of the nine seven-inches will feature cover artwork by Kelsey Brookes (www.kelseybrookes.com). Brookes’ well-documented background in microbiology, surf culture and folk art combine in explosive prisms of raucous color, bold imagery and timeless motifs. His work has appeared in countless group shows, art fairs, and magazines such as GQ, Modern Painters, Juxtapoz, Beautiful Decay and Dazed and Confused.

One of the bands I was looking forward to the most at the M3 Rock Festival was Stryper. I never got to see the band play live before, and they rarely ever come to my area. Due to the messed up start times on Saturday, Stryper’s set was greatly shortened, and I couldn’t have been more disappointed. The band only got to play 6 songs, and there was no “the Rock That Makes Me Roll”, no “In God We Trust, and no “Honestly”. M3 kind of redeemed themselves by bringing out Oz Fox, Tim Gaines and Michael Sweet to perform “Heaven and Hell” with both Vinnie Appice and Carmine Appice on drums during the All-Star Jam. That was a cool rock and roll moment that I will never forget. I hope Stryper gets asked to come back to M3, and to play a longer set. They were easily one of the best bands at M3.
The All-Star Jam overall was cool but overall disappointing. How do you have an All-Star Jam without George Lynch or Warren DeMartini? The possibility was there to something very cool, but the short Jam session seemed much more like an after thought than a planned segment of the M3 Rock Festival. Who did participate in the All-Star Jam? Robert Mason, Terry Ilous, Michael Sweet, Mark Kendall, Oz Fox, Chris Taylor, Tim Gaines, Sean McNabb, Carmine Appice and Vinny Appice.
Stryper’s set list consisted of the songs: “Sing-Along Song”, “Reach Out”, “Calling On You”, “Free”, “To Hell With The Devil” and “Soldiers Under Command”.
The All-Star Jam set list was: “Rainbow In The Dark”, “All Right Now” and “Heaven And Hell”
