Shinedown Score Sixteenth #1 With “Unity”; Multiplatinum Rock Band Tops the Rock Radio Charts With Their Latest Single; Non-Stop Live Schedule Includes Headline Tour and Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival
Atlantic recording group Shinedown continues to make rock radio history as their latest single, “Unity,” ascends to the #1 at Active Rock radio outlets nationwide. The track’s phenomenal success marks the sixteenth chart-topper of the multiplatinum band’s illustrious career and eighth consecutive#1 at the format.
“Unity” follows hot on the heels of the #1 smash, “Bully,” both of which are featured on the record-setting rock band’s explosive new album, “AMARYLLIS.” Released this past March, the collection debuted atop Billboard’s “Rock Albums” chart and at #4 overall on the Billboard 200 — Shinedown’s biggest chart debut thus far — with over 105,000 units sold its first week out.
The recent premiere of the official music video for “Unity” (http://youtu.be/_gVdi6sizeY) was followed by a special acoustic performance of the song on TBS’ Conan, which can be viewed now at http://teamcoco.com/video/shinedown-unity. In addition, the band has just unveiled a provocative new companion video heralding their next single, “Enemies” (http://youtu.be/OoHGZFyMCHU). Both clips are streaming at Shinedown TV, the band’s official YouTube channel.
Shinedown is currently trekking across North America on a major headline tour, with dates continuing through early August. The band will return to the road just two short weeks later, this time as headliners on the hugely anticipated Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival. The third annual rock extravaganza — which boasts a main stage line-up that also includes Godsmack, Papa Roach, and Atlantic’s own Staind — gets underway on Friday, August 17th at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, Kansas, and then continues through September (see attached itinerary). Shinedown is indisputably one of the most successful rock bands of the past 10 years, enjoying an unparalleled streak of hits. The band’s unprecedented ascendancy over multi-format rock radio commenced with their RIAA platinum certified 2003 debut “LEAVE A WHISPER” and its gold certified 2005 follow-up, “US AND THEM.” Together, both albums yielded seven consecutive top 5 radio hits, including the #1 blockbuster, “Save Me.” Released in 2008, “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” proved Shinedown’s mainstream breakthrough, debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200 before spending 120 consecutive weeks on the chart. The album made rock history, with each of its six singles reaching #1 on the airplay rankings, including the double-platinum certified crossover smash, “Second Chance,” which also went to #1 on the Hot AC chart and top 3 at Top 40. Shinedown’s numerous national television appearances include performances on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Today Show, CBS’ The Early Show, among others. In 2009, the band received an American Music Award nomination for “Best Alternative Rock Band.”
Shinedown is: Brent Smith (vocals), Barry Kerch (drums), Zach Myers (guitars), and Eric Bass (bass).
