SOIL’s new album Whole will be released August 20th. Check out the first single “Shine On” below!
HUNTRESS have confirmed they will be touring late summer with Danzig as he celebrates his 25th Anniversary with Doyle. These tour dates kick off immediately following the band’s run with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, and Heavy MTL Festival in Montreal, Canada. The tour starts August 13th in Bethlehem, PA, and runs through August 31st in Tempe, AZ. A complete list of dates can be found below.
HUNTRESS vocalist Jill Janus commented on the upcoming tour with Danzig:
“HUNTRESS is honored and thrilled to be the opening act for Danzig’s summer 25th anniversary tour with Doyle! I speak for all my bandmates when I say Danzig and the Misfits were immensely influential during our angsty teenage years. I’m taking a time machine back to high-five and freak out with my thirteen year old self! This rules!”
HUNTRESS has generated a massive amount of buzz since the release of their debut album Spell Eater in 2012. The follow up to last year’s kill, Starbound Beast, has been released and is available now via Napalm Records. The album is available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon and in Best Buy stores in the US.
The band recently filmed their music video for “Zenith” from their new album Starbound Beast. An exclusive trailer has been posted and can be viewed HERE. The spectacular video was directed by Phil Mucci, whose video for HIGH ON FIRE‘s “Fertile Green” was named best video of 2012 by Revolver. Look for the video to receive its exclusive premiere via Bloody Disgusting soon.
HUNTRESS are taking part in the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. In addition to performing every day, vocalist Jill Janus will host the first ever Shred-Meister guitar competition. Festival attendees can go to the Jägermeister tents on site and audition for a chance to shred for 10 seconds on the main stage. Each day, one of the 10 finalists will win a custom Jägermeister guitar from Schecter, and the overall winner at the end of the tour will win a custom Jägermeister full stack and head courtesy of Peavey Electronics.
Starbound Beast was recorded at Hobby Shop Studios in Los Angeles, CA, working with famed producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, Agnostic Front). The artwork for Starbound Beast was created once again by Vance Kelly (Slayer, Ghost B.C., Mastodon).
HUNTRESS was spawned from the preternatural union of Jill Janus with underground metal bands Professor and Dark Black. They thrive on thundering drums, heavy riffs, spectral solos and catchy choruses that come from the band’s musical concoction of occult science and bong rips. HUNTRESS remains true to the roots of melodic heavy metal with a penchant for thrash, death and black metal.

The return of HAREM SCAREM with Mood Swings II the re-recording of the band’s classic album with 3 new songs out in September on Frontiers
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of “Mood Swings II” the album celebrating the reunion of Canadian Rockers Harem Scarem on September 24th in North America and September 27th in Europe.
Harem Scarem released their second album – the original “Mood Swings” – in 1993. Now 20 years later the band celebrates the anniversary of such career-defining release re-recording from scratch the eleven songs that made up that album and also adding three new bonus tracks in the spirit of the original “Mood Swings” direction.
Harem Scarem disbanded after the release of their last album “Hope” in 2008. Five years later, rumours about a possible reunion for some shows started to circulate and were confirmed once Firefest announced the band as headliner of the first night of the event on Friday October 18th 2013. In this occasion the band will perform the entire “Mood Swings” record live, since they had never officially toured that release outside of Canada. This has led to the booking an extensive European and Asian tour, including the band’s second show ever in the US at the Melodic Rock Fest 3 in September in Chicago.
As the idea developed, the band decided to do a modern recording of “Mood Swings”, trying to keep true to the original intent as well as writing and recording three brand new tracks. Then it was decided to include a “making of ” video and also to have four songs broken down into individual audio tracks, so that fans can re-mix or play along with the songs.
“This re-record was extremely time consuming, we really put everything into it and spent an incredible amount of time writing and recording the 3 new bonus tracks” says singer Harry Hess. “We hope everyone can hear the effort that went into it and enjoys the result as much as we do”.
“Mood Swings II” track listing includes:
CD: Saviors Never Cry; No Justice; Stranger Than Love; Change Comes Around; Jealousy; Sentimental Blvd.; Mandy; Empty Promises; If There Was A Time; Just Like I Planned; Had Enough; World Gone To Pieces; Anarchy; Brighter Day.
DVD: “Re-Making Of Mood Swings” documentary; Audio Files: Change Comes Around, Saviours Never Cry, No Justice
You can sample new recordings and one new song following this link:
“Due to the huge time commitment everyone would need to make these live dates doable Creighton Doane and Barry Donaghy had to bow out as the tour dates keep growing. Darren Smith will be back behind the kit for our live dates with Stan Miczek on bass” concludes Hess. “Even if we have not made any plans beyond the tour at the moment but I’m pretty sure there will be more Harem Scarem in the future!”

SPV / Steamhammer has signed a worldwide deal with NWoBHM cult act BATTLEAXE. It is not only for a new studioalbum called “Heavy Metal Sanctuary” which is due in early 2014, it also include the deluxe re-releases of the classic metal albums “Burn This Town” (out in October 2013) and “Power From The Universe” (out late summer 2014) with new covers, extended booklets and lots of bonus material.
The current line-up consists of the original members Dave King (vocals) and Brian Smith (bass) as well as Mick Percy (guitar) and Paul Atkinson (drums).
Dave King and Brian Smith say about the signing: “We think speaking for the whole band that we are all elated to be joining the SPV family. A label with great worldwide distribution and also featuring some of our favourite bands. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to re-release our old classic albums again as well as introduce our fans to our new more powerful sound. After a long and hard struggle we have finally managed to complete our new album Heavy Metal Sanctuary which we know will delight our fans worldwide. We do not think it will disappoint in either the songs or the production, and we feel that although it sounds modern and 21st century, it is still classic Battleaxe! We thank all our loyal fans all over the world who encouraged us to reform (indeed some even demanded it), even though some of you were not even born when the original albums were first released. Now because of this new deal, we will be able to see many of you in 2014 on the European festival scene and possibly around the world. Finally of course many many thanks to Olly Hahn and all the staff at SPV for making this dream come true! “
SPV/Steamhammer A&R Olly Hahn ads: “Sometimes you have to do something….and I did. As a child of the NWoBHM due to the lack of informations you had to buy by the cover. In some cases the cover were good but the music average, in other cases the cover were not really good but the music was killer. This happened to me when I bought “Burn This Town”. The whole album, as well as the second one “Power From The Universe”, are classics for me and I know for many metal fans too. And I heard the new songs which are really strong and will surprise a lot of people. Yes, the band is ready to deliver…so are we!
SILVERTIDE ANNOUNCE REUNION PERFORMANCES, NEW MUSIC FORTHCOMING
In the early part of the 21st century, Silvertide represented the next great American band to starved rock n roll fans; touring across the globe and playing their own brand of dirty rock and blues to anyone who would listen. Their live shows become the stuff of legend, and in subsequent years, the band’s debut album, ‘Show & Tell,’ has become a cult classic the world over. Before deciding to take a break in 2006, they scored such top 20 rock radio hits as “Ain’t Comin’ Home,” “Blue Jeans,” and “Devil’s Daughter.”
As part of their much-anticipated return to the stage, the original Silvertide line-up will be performing two limited engagements at the infamous “Machine Shop” in Flint, Michigan (themachineshop.info).
The first night will see the band performing ‘Show & Tell’ in its entirety, while the second night will feature a mix of old songs, b-sides, rarities, and to the delight of long-time fans, new songs. All tickets are VIP, and include a meet and greet with the band after show. Tickets for both nights go on sale Saturday, July 13th.
Hailing from Philadelphia, Silvertide is comprised of lead singer Walt Lafty, lead guitarist Nick Perri, rhythm guitarist Mark Melchiorre, bassist Brian Weaver, and drummer Kevin Frank. Originally formed in 2001, the band achieved success straight away, with the 2004 release of their aforementioned debut – which has sold close to 400,000 copies worldwide.
And the group proved they could certainly deliver the goods on stage, as they spent the following three years (!) playing the world over, and opening for such renowned acts as Van Halen, Motley Crue, the Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, ZZ Top, and Metallica, among countless others.
The group has also made its presence felt in film and videogames, as a pair of Bob Dylan covers (“Maggie’s Farm” and “It Ain’t Me, Babe”) were featured on the soundtrack to the M. Night Shyamalan film, ‘Lady in the Water,’ while their tune, “Blue Jeans,” was featured on the ‘Rock Band’ videogame. The band is currently working on a new release with producer David Ivory (Halestorm).
Get ready Michigan fans, for what’s sure to be the rock n’ roll event of 2013…THE RETURN OF SILVERTIDE!

Whether you’re a novice or a trained musician, EARWIZARD will surely keep you entertained and challenged. View a clip of Jordan playing EARWIZARD here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAcK1AY6LWU
Says Jordan, “Ear training is the single most important thing that musicians of any level can do. I have a passion for creating effective ways to help people develop their musical ears! EarWizard is a result of my desire to offer a really fun and engaging experience that will challenge and entertain musicians and non musicians alike!”

GOTTHARD – Radio-Bagpipe Version “YIPPIE AYE YAY”
The perfect song for the start of the summer.
With their album Firebirth, released in 2012, the Swiss rockers stormed the charts, toured the entire world and received a platinum award!
Right on time for the start of the summer, we present you «Yippie Aye Yay», the fourth single from this successful album, in a special radio-bagpipe version.
This feel-good song is the perfect choice for the upcoming months which are promising to be really hot.
At the start of “Yippie Aye Yay” you can hear the bagpipes of the Wild Boar Clan.
You can watch the video which Gotthard directed themselves here:
The song rocks from the very first sound and rolls without stopping throughout this enchanting track. „come what may,…. shake the day,… are you coming?
What are we waiting for?
At the moment they are fervently writing songs for the new album, planned to be released in early 2014. But Gotthard just can’t live without any stage appearances in 2013 and in order not to let the fans wait too long, the band will rock – besides a few shows in Germany – the Swiss Rock’n’Road exclusively on August 10th 2013 in Bellinzona!
“Yippie Aye Yay”!
The April/May “The Midwest Rock ‘N Roll Express” tour with STYX, REO Speedwagon and Ted Nugent was successful in more ways than one. STYX and REO Speedwagon’s Rock to the Rescue charity organization not only raised thousands of dollars for local charities at each tour stop, but they also raised $108,000 which will go directly to the Boston One Fund, helping victims of the Boston marathon bombings.
