0 TRASHBEAT DROPS A NEW TRACK, “TOYS” FOR DOWNLOAD; READIES FOR 2014 DEBUT ALBUM FT. MEMBERS OF SEX PISTOLS, BLONDIE, STRANGLERS

Trashbeat

Trashbeat, the rock & roll brainchild of venerable bassist Steve Trash, has released a teaser track for download.  “Toys” will appear on Trashbeat’s full-length album (dropping in 2014 via Major Label) which features guest appearances from members of the Sex Pistols, Blondie, and the Stranglers.

“Toys” is a chunky, beat-driven  track with chiming chords and a snarling vocal attitude reminiscent of the late ‘60s-early ‘70s punk and new wave movements.  With nods to Bowie, Iggy, Small Faces, Modern Lovers and such, it sounds like the next generation of rock.

The progressive hybrid of punk, glam, and alternative, Trashbeat’s sound is informed by and filtered through Trash’s music and art background.  He came up in the punk/art rock movement, but also studied modern composition.  Art without boundaries, figuratively and literally, as he has bases in both London and Los Angeles. His recording and touring resume includes the likes of Paul McCartney, Roy Orbison, KD Lang and Elton John as well as Stranglers, Attractions, Damned, Sex Pistols and more. He’s performed across the world, from rock dives to Live 8.

Among the legendary guests on the Trashbeat record are Hugh Cornwell, Clem Burke, Glen Matlock, and Richie Ramone.  The record is produced by Trash and Arnaud Bascunana.

0 Emphatic Enlist Drummer John Tempesta (Ex-White Zombie, Exodus) For Recording Of New Album “Another Life”

Emphatic Another Life
Omaha, Nebraska based hard rockers, Emphatic have revealed more details about their new album “Another Life”, which is scheduled for an October 22nd release through Epochal Artists Records/Capitol Music Group. The band have enlisted the help of drummer John Tempesta (Ex-White Zombie, Testament, Exodus) to lay down drum tracks for the group’s sophomore effort. The album will be the first to feature new frontman Toryn Green, who was previously the singer of multi-platinum rock band Fuel and the touring vocalist for Finnish cello rock band Apocalyptica.

Produced by Emphatic guitarist Justin McCain and co-produced by Ryan Greene at Validus Recording Studios in Los Angeles, “Another Life” showcases Emphatic‘s newfound sense of maturity and creative firepower as they belt out a powerful dose of groundbreaking hard rock. Rejuvenated creatively, the band is now firing on all cylinders with a line-up that matches the intensity of their songs. “Another Life” is filled with gigantic hooks, powerful melodies and is an inspiring triumph over adversity. The band’s lyric video for their debut single “Remember Me” can be seen online at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifoxluKd_rg.

Emphatic are best known for their major label debut album “Damage”, which produced the hit single “Bounce”, and shot the album onto the Billboard Heatseekers charts at #9. The album was produced by Howard Benson (Three Days Grace, Halestorm), and featured A Perfect Circle‘s Josh Freese playing drums on the record. From there, the band went on to take part in the Carnival Of Madness Tour alongside hard rock heavyweights Theory of a Deadman, Alter Bridge, Black Stone Cherry, and Adelitas Way.

0 Skillet – Rise (2013)

Skillet Rise CdComing off the very strong and very fabulous Awake, Skillet has returned with their latest rock record, Rise. Fans have been waiting for a couple of years to see what Skillet had in them for a follow up to one of their most popular (and fantastic) records. Well, we can all rejoice, because Skillet has delivered a record that is every bit as good as its predecessor.

Rise opens with the hard hitting, heavy sounding, title track, “Rise.” If you love a guitar driven, hard rock sound, “Rise” is going to put a smile on your face. The song is a great opener for the record and sets the listener up for the rest of what’s to come—hard hitting rock music with an edge. Keyboards blend with shredding guitar and some hard pounding drums to create a strong, forceful album opener. “Rise” is just a great track.

Pounding drums, wailing guitars, and a steady heavy beat isn’t all that makes “Sick Of It” a hard core rock song. It is also the lyrics and the message behind the song. Almost a modern day “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” “Sick Of It” could be an anthem for a whole new generation. The song screams sing along at a concert, with fists flying in the air. “Sick Of It” speaks to standing up for yourself and fighting for what you believe in. If you’re sick of…whatever…fight it and stand strong.

“Good To Be Alive” takes off on a similar message that “One Day Too Late” (from Awake) had, in the celebration of life and all that we have. A simple steady beat is the backdrop for lead singer John Cooper’s vocals, which are very strong on this song. And while the beat is simple, and the song is not overly complex, it is still quite amazing. “Good To Be Alive” was the first song that really grabbed me from this album and I found myself singing along almost immediately.

Skillet really hits a home run with “Not Gonna Die,” the best song on the album. This song has the perfect blend of guitar, vocals, anthem style rock, and overall fun. “Not Gonna Die” is a solid song that kicks off strong and immediate grabs the listener’s attention. It is also a song with deep meaning about fighting back and overcoming any challenges that life may throw. I always attach to songs like these because they are powerful in spirit, style, and substance. “Not Gonna Die” is no exception and I found myself hitting repeat several times.

And while the rest of the tracks on Rise are solid, it is these first four that pack the hardest punch. Admittedly, I spent much more time listening to these four tracks than I did to the rest of the album, but that’s not to say the rest of the album is weaker, because it’s not. It’s just that these first four songs brought so much enjoyment, that I could not help but constantly hit replay after “Not Gonna Die.”

Skillet has once again delivered a fantastic record that hard rock fans will be sure to enjoy. Packed with an edgier modern rock sound and guitar solos galore, Rise is sure to please fans of both the modern rock genre and the old school rock style.

Wendy Ronnie

A message from Wendy Dio regarding she and Ronnie James Dio’s favorite charity, The Brittany Foundation:

Dear Friends,

As you all know, Ronnie and I have always been animal lovers and our favorite charity is The Brittany Foundation, as 100% of the monies raised goes to feed and house the dogs. Some of you may remember that three years ago, I spent a Day in Their Paws in a cage with two adorable dogs, trying to raise money and get them adopted. This was one of the last public appearances Ronnie made before his untimely passing.

This year I am going in the cage again with Timka and Tramp to raise money for The Brittany Foundation. I stay in the cage for 24 hours or until I have raised the money for freedom. It costs a dollar a minute for my freedom. I am asking for your help.

Please go to http://www.brittanyfoundationonline.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=48&Itemid=67  and scroll down to my picture with Timka and Tramp, and click the button to donate. We would love to see any of you that would like to join us.

I would like to say a big “thank you” to you all, and as Ronnie would say, “You Rock!”

Heavyweights ROB ZOMBIE and KORN have announced a co-headlining arena tour–the “NIGHT OF THE LIVING DREADS” tour–kicking off Sunday, November 3 in Reno, NV and encompassing 17 dates across the U.S (full itinerary below) before wrapping November 26 in Bethlehem, PA. With both artists known for delivering electrifying performances filled with sonic thunderbolts and dark intensity, fans can expect the roofs to lift off arenas across the country. For a full list of tour dates and ticket links, visit: http://korn.com/events or http://robzombie.com/tour-dates/.

GRAMMY® Award-winning multi-platinum hard rock innovators KORN–Jonathan Davis [Vocals], James “Munky” Shaffer [Guitar], Brian “Head” Welch [Guitar], Reggie “Fieldy” Arvizu [Bass] and Ray Luzier [Drums]–will be touring in support of their 11th studio album, THE PARADIGM SHIFT, due in stores and via digital retailers on October 8 on Prospect Park. The video for the album’s Top 10 Active Rock track “Never Never” premiered on VEVO (9/6) and can be viewed here: http://vevo.ly/UaDV41. The album cover art is below.

A rock icon and auteur filmmaker of unlimited vision, Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of music, film, and publishing. In April, the seven-time GRAMMY® nominee released his fifth solo album, VENOMOUS RAT REGENERATION VENDOR, on his new Zodiac Swan label through T-Boy Records/UMe. The album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, and has spawned two Top 10 Active Rock singles, “Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town” and Zombie’s current Top 10 spin on Grand Funk Railroad’s anthemic “We’re An American Band.” The song’s lyric video can be viewed HERE. The album cover art is below.

On his upcoming co-headlining tour with KORN, Zombie notes, “Some of the best times we’ve had on the road have been touring with Korn, so we’re thrilled to be doing it again!” Jonathan Davis adds, “We’ve had a lot of fun touring and playing with Rob Zombie over the years. It’s been a while and those shows were so much fun. We’re really excited about doing it again.”

These tour dates come on the heels of KORN announcing the return of their FAMILY VALUES FESTIVAL–a one–day spectacular taking place Saturday, October 5 at the 1st Bank Center in Denver, Colorado with Hollywood Undead, Asking Alexandria, Machine Gun Kelly and Beware of Darkness–as well as their current cross-country record release “launch dates” tour (with support from Asking Alexandria and Love And Death) taking the band through October 12 when they wrap in Las Vegas.

This fall, Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare – the ultimate Halloween music and horror event – will terrify fans every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from October 10 through November 2 at FEARPlex in Pomona, just outside Los Angeles. Zombie will headline the closing night of music performances (November 2) during this bone-chilling experience combining the most advanced haunted house attractions with a not-to-be-missed music festival from top hard rock/metal, rock alternative, EDM, and Latin artists. The music lineup includes:  Eagles Of Death Metal, Goldfinger, 3OH!3, The Used, Ozomatli, Beware Of Darkness, Butcher Babies, Ghost Town, Andrew WK, Motionless In White, Powerman 5000, TSOL, The Dickies, The Vandals, and Wallpaper. Visit www.GreatAmericanNightmare.com for more details.

KORN The Paradigm Shift

THE PARADIGM SHIFT marks the emotional return of co-founding guitarist Brian “Head” Welch for his first album with KORN since 2003‘s Take a Look in the Mirror, and it serves as the follow-up to the band’s 2011 critically acclaimed trend-setting dubstep metal hybrid, The Path of Totality, which debuted Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and was named Revolver Magazine‘s “Album of the Year.” THE PARADIGM SHIFT is also KORN’s first time working with super producer Don Gilmore [Linkin Park’s The Hybrid Theory, etc.] who recorded the album with the band at Buck Owens’ studio in their original hometown Bakersfield and at Los Angeles‘ famed NRG Recording Studios.

Rob Zombie has sold more than fifteen million albums worldwide and he is the only artist to experience unprecedented success in both music and film as the writer/director of six feature films with a worldwide gross totaling more than $100 million. Prior to VENOMOUS RAT REGENERATION VENDOR, his last solo studio album was the long-awaited HELLBILLY DELUXE 2, which came a decade after its predecessor, HELLBILLY DELUXE, the album that established Zombie as a solo artist after the breakup of multi-platinum group White Zombie. That triple-platinum album also yielded a string of successful radio singles, namely “Dragula,” “Superbeast” and “Living Dead Girl,” which dominated the airwaves.  In April, Zombie released his sixth motion picture, The Lords of Salem, which he wrote, directed and produced in tandem with the producers of the Paranormal Activity franchise, with Anchor Bay Films.

“I think that Darrell would be really proud of all of his extended family, friends, fans, and musical brothers and sisters… The RIDE FOR DIME has embodied the spirit of Darrell by keeping his memory alive the way Dime would have wanted… with “Unity”,” states Dimebagz Hag Rita Haney. “The thing he loved the most was jumping up on someone’s stage for a killer jam session or welcoming anybody to his own stage with open arms. To see people from all over come together to celebrate him and his music is enough to warm my heart and I could never say thank you enough, but it’s even more incredible that the proceeds have gone to help so many different causes over the years. I hope that one day we can see the RFD chapters in all states and countries, even if you don’t ride, you can always come out for the jams and the good times. Always remember one word in the Dime community… “Unity”.”

“This year’s RIDE FOR DIME events have seen performances by Shadows Fall, Drowning Pool, God Forbid, Sevendust and countless local bands that we try to showcase and put some spotlight on to crowds that otherwise would not have heard them, all in the name and honor of our friend Dimebag Darrell,” adds Chad Lee, RFD Nashville Vice President and owner of Rockconcertfotos.com.

These days as schools throughout America are forced to close their Musical programs kids in uncounted numbers are missing their potential to become the talented musicians of our future. RIDE FOR DIME is a federally sanctioned 501 (C) 3 charity organization benefiting several different like minded causes in honor of the late great DIMEBAG DARRELL ABBOTT the former guitarist of the bands DAMAGEPLAN and PANTERA. Dime was the kind of person that was able to connect with millions of fans world wide with his kind heart and extraordinary musical abilities. Unfortunately hes was taken from us on December 8th 2004 in a senseless act of violence. Since then some of the people closest to him have created “RIDE FOR DIME” to raise money in his name and give back to the thing that enriched his short life so greatly…..Music. Little Kids Rock Foundation provides classrooms with the instruments and funding that it takes to keep their music programs alive, ultimately giving kids an outlet to showcase their talents. The Darrell Abbott Scholarship Fund helps deserving kids pursue their musical dreams and education.

0 SPIDER ROCKETS JOIN SALIVA IN OCTOBER; NEW VIDEO “GOING DOWN” AVAILABLE NOW!

SpiderRockets2

A week after releasing their first official video for “Going Down”, Spider Rockets will hit the road with Saliva in the midwest and the south. “We haven’t been on the road since our runs with Trapt earlier this spring,” admits lead singer, Helena Cos; “…but we haven’t visited the south in at least a couple of years! So that, along with Saliva being cool enough to share the stage with us is pretty awesome.”

Spider Rockets has a new stage show consisting of various backdrops, a smoldering rocket ship, probing searchlight, whips, megaphone and a mannequin head. “The rocket ship will be a work in progress, hopefully we won’t need to abort any missions!” jokes John Nap, the band’s guitarist. “But the real challenge as an opening band has been coming up with staging that won’t interfere with the headliner’s space; one that is modular enough to adjust from venue to venue, but that also packs light… And I believe we’ve found it.” John refers to a series self-standing vertical, retractable banners or scrims (neither, really) that can be extended, shortened, and rearranged depending on the size and configuration of the venue’s stage. Bassist, Greg Manning, adds: “We just hope we don’t end up with a ‘Stone Henge’ situation!”

The group also plans to bring along their four legged roadie/security guard, Lemmy, a 18 pound Dachshund with a bad attitude and a fierce appetite; “that little shit always sniffs out where I hide my meatball sub in the van,” bitches drummer, Dan Prestup.

Confirmed tour dates include:

October 2 Harley Davidson Biketown (Austintown, OH) w/ SALIVA

October 3 Jonny’s Roadhouse (Aurora, IN) w/ SALIVA

October 4 Beale Street Live (Indianapolis, IN) w/ SALIVA

October 5 Diesel Concert Lounge (Chesterfield, MI) w/ SALIVA

October 6 Centerstage Bar & Grill (Kokomo, IN) w/ SALIVA

October 8 Blackstock (Knoxville, TN) w/ SALIVA

October 9 Limelight (Nashville, TN) w/ SALIVA

October 10 Club Inferno (Scottsboro, AL) w/ SALIVA

October 11 Longbranch (Raleigh, NC) w/ SALIVA

October 18 The Saint (Asbury Park, NJ)

The tour is in support of the band’s current release, “Bitten,” produced in the band’s home state of New Jersey as well as Florida.

“Going Down,” the new video from the album can be seen below.

####

Spider Rockets is a female-fronted, hard rock four-piece from Hazlet, New Jersey. The group consists of Helena Cos on vocals, John Nap on guitar, Greg Manning on bass, and Dan Prestup on drums. Their brand of melody driven riff rock has been influenced by the likes of Godsmack, Buckcherry, Shinedown and Rob Zombie. The group has toured with or supported groups like Trapt, Papa Roach, Pop Evil, Framing Hanley, Saigon Kick, etc. Their current release, Bitten, has been named Top 10 Hard Rock Albums of 2012 by Metal Odyssey and has successfully won over popular rock acts in a number of “cage matches” at active rock radio.

1 Age Of Days to Release radioactivity Worldwide October 1, 2013

Age of Days

Age of Days lit the fuse this year, blasting back onto the scene, exhibiting a renewed spirit and vigor with their new album, radioactivity. On October 1st, Age of Days will release radioactivity worldwide and fans that have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new album can get it online from iTunes or their favorite online music store.

They won’t be disappointed.  The album’s first single, ‘Bombs Away’, was an immediate hit, reaching #16 on the Active Rock Chart in their home country of Canada and earning a feature on the CFL’s Ultimate Replay.  It’s an incendiary example of the kind of powerful, hook-laden, guitar crunching, powerhouse music that has made Age of Days a favorite of the modern rock crowd and an in-demand live act.

Other notable tracks include ‘Now Or Never’ which was co-written with Sal Coz Costa formerly from My Darkest Days, and features Costa on guitar and synths and Cody Hanson of Hinder on drums. ‘Broken’ was a featured track for the NHL Network’s Plays of the Week, and the current single, ‘I Did It For Love’, was co-written with award winning producer Brian Howes (Nickelback, Hinder, Puddle of Mudd, Daughtry).

Full album available for streaming HERE!

American and Canadian fans alike fell in love with the band’s smash debut album, Hollywood Ending, in 2008, and the single “Afflicted” was a Top 20 Hit in Canada, a Top 50 US Single, and a #1 smash on Sirius/XM’s Octane Channel. Their radio success earned Age of Days a tour across North America with the likes of The Offspring, Papa Roach, Hinder, and My Darkest Days. After the release of radioactivity, Age of Days toured across Canada, playing huge summer festivals with Buckcherry and some incredible shows with Grammy award-winning band, Halestorm.  This October they will head out on a North American tour with Pop Evil and Papa Roach.

BeastoBlanco

With influences ranging from White Zombie to Motorhead, Beasto Blanco’s “LIVE FAST DIE LOUD” is a full-length anthemic hard rock offering that keeps you amped on “10” from start to finish! The progeny of long time Alice Cooper bassist Chuck Garric, “LIVE FAST DIE LOUD” yields a powerful combination of heavy riffs, driving bass, and melodic choruses that are bound to stick in your head after just one listen! Beasto Blanco is quickly becoming a favorite of the music and movie industry’s most respected talents! Here is what just a few of them have to say about “LIVE FAST DIE LOUD”:

Johnny Depp: “What an honor to hear something as beastly and killer as this!!! It’s truly, truly great and wonderfully kind of life affirming! Makes one feel ownership of their being!”

Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden): “Chuck has got himself a ‘KIN’ blazing band here. “LIVE FAST DIE LOUD” from Beasto Blanco is a solid piece and rockin’ like there is no tomorrow! Well done me old china!”

Alice Cooper: “Beasto Blanco to me is an East L.A ‘Day Of The Dead’ kind of hard rock band. They seem dangerous – don’t stand too close, this is a band that I see exploding in the next few years. The “LIVE FAST DIE LOUD” video shows my grown daughter Calico crawling around like some sort of animal, which is of course, just how I remember her as a child!”

Bob Ezrin (Producer): “Chuck Garric is modern day monster, one of the most talented and heaviest rock musicians I’ve ever worked with!”

Mikkey Dee (Motorhead): LIVE FAST DIE LOUD is a real ass-kicker and I wouldn’t expect anything less when Chuck is at the forefront, keep slammin!

John Corabi: “I totally love “LIVE FAST DIE LOUD”! This is the real deal, it’s 100% raw energy from start to finish!”

“LIVE FAST DIE LOUD” features Chuck Garric, Calico Cooper, Glen Sobel, Jonathan Mover, Tiffany Lowe, Chris Latham and more! Official release date is scheduled for October 29 2013.

After playing the last show of the “Sounds Of A Playground Fading” cycle at Germany’s Summer Breeze festival, IN FLAMES have just released a video for the title track of their highly successful album “Sounds Of A Playground Fading”. The video, that is made of live material, was produced by Patric Ullaeus for Revolver.se.

However, there is one very last and unique chance to see IN FLAMES live this year: The amusement park Gröna Lund (Stockholm, Sweden) announced today that IN FLAMES is confirmed for a VERY special show next week, September 27th, 2013. REO Speedwagon Live AT Moondance Jam

* * * * *
Band’s First High-Definition Concert Release Contains the Smash Hits
“Keep On Loving You,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Take It On the Run” and More
Frontiers Records and REO Speedwagon are proud to announce the release of Live at Moondance Jam – the band’s hit-filled performance from the country’s premier classic rock festival, Moondance Jam. Recorded at the Walker, Minnesota festival in high-definition, Live at Moondance Jam, puts the band’s brilliant showmanship on display as the veteran rockers blast through 13 of their best-loved songs. Available in both Blu-ray and a deluxe edition (containing a CD and DVD in a glossy digipak) formats, Live At Moondance Jam will be released on November 19th.

Broadcast on Palladia, Direct TV and VH1 Classic in early 2013, Live at Moondance Jam features a baker’s dozen classic REO Speedwagon tunes, including the hits, “Keep on Loving You,” “Take It on the Run,” and “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” along with the first ever live versions of “In Your Letter,” “Golden Country,” and “Like You Do.” The packages also feature “Don’t Let Him Go,” “Keep Pushin’,” “Time for Me to Fly, “Back on the Road Again,” “Roll with the Changes, “Ridin’ the Storm Out,” and “157 Riverside Avenue.” Additionally, both the CD+DVD and Blu-ray packages contain a bonus interview with REO’s iconic vocalist Kevin Cronin. Click here to see a sample of Live at Moondance Jam.

“I can’t really explain it, but we feel like our band is actually still getting better,” said REO Speedwagon frontman Kevin Cronin. “This Moondance show captures the essence of this exciting new chapter in the continuing story of REO. I can look you in the eye and say that this performance is us playing our best, totally live, and having an absolute blast.”

Formed in 1967, signed in 1971, and fronted by Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon has rocked to the top of the charts with a RIAA-certified 22 million albums sold in the U.S., 40 million around the globe, and a string of gold and platinum records.  The group’s nine-times certified platinum Hi Infidelity spent 15 weeks in the #1 slot. Thirty–plus years later, Cronin and bandmates Bruce Hall (bass), Neal Doughty (keyboards), Dave Amato (lead guitar) and Bryan Hitt (drums) are currently electrifying concert audiences on headlining tour dates and festival shows through the spring of 2014.
On the band’s last tour, the Midwest Rock N’ Roll Express,  STYX and REO Speedwagon’s Rock to the Rescue charity organization not only raised thousands of dollars for local charities at each tour stop, but also raised $108,000 which will go directly to the Boston One Fund, helping victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. Recently, REO’s Kevin Cronin unveiled the band’s “Great Chicago Fire Hydrant” as part of a citywide Chicago public art installation project which will feature oversized replicas of Chicago’s iconic fire hydrants. There will be 101 fire hydrants to represent each firehouse, and later in December, these will be auctioned, with proceeds benefitting 100 Club Chicago. Finally, a rerecording of “Roll with the Changes” is currently featured in the movie Jobs, starring Ashton Kutcher.

0 Vie’s Verses – Chances Are

  • September 19, 2013
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · Vie's Verses

ViesVerses1

With football season upon us, all of the gamblers are talking about odds. What are the odds for this game? What are the odds for that game? Well, I like to look at the odds too, but my thought pattern heads in a different direction—music. So instead of presenting the odds on Sunday’s big games, I thought I’d put together the odds on a few things that may happen in the world of hard rock music. I call this edition of Vie’s Verses, “Chances Are…” It’s easy to play and easy to follow along. So join me know as we look at the chances of certain things happening in the world of hard rock and heavy metal.

Black Sabbath Release One More Album With Bill Ward

During recent interviews, Ozzy Osbourne has stated that he would love to record one more Black Sabbath album with Bill Ward behind the drum kit. He’s been on record saying that if Ward could get his act together, they could do it. So, what are the chances that this would actually happen? Coming off of a very successful tour behind a brilliant studio album (13), the stars are aligned for Sabbath to return to the studio and make another record. However, with health concerns for Tony Iommi, the overall age of the band, and the weariness that being on the road brings, I don’t see Black Sabbath gathering to record another record anytime in the near future. In addition to all of that, Bill Ward would still need to work out financial terms with Sharon Osbourne, which can be a deal breaker as well. While I think the chances are decent that Black Sabbath will make another record, I think that they are much less than that to make a record with Bill Ward.

Chances: Slim (22%)

Lightning Bolt Goes Platinum

Next month, Pearl Jam will be releasing their 10th studio album, Lightning Bolt. I have high expectations for this record, especially based on lead single, “Mind Your Manners.” What I really what to know is how well will this record sell. The band has never released a record that went less than gold, but their last platinum album was 1998’s Yield. They haven’t had a multiplatinum album since Vitalogy, all the way back in 1994. That’s almost 20 years. And yet, the band continues to press on. Their Wrigley concert, held earlier this summer, sold out in minutes, and most of the dates for their fall tour are also sold out. There is still a rather large demand for Pearl Jam, but will that demand translate into record sales? Judging from their previous releases, the easy argument is no, but I have a feeling that Lightning Bolt is going to be a very special album.

Chances: Good (78%)

Motley Crue’s Next Tour Really Is Their Last

Every band says that their farewell tour really is the end. And then something inevitably happens and the band is touring again within five years. So is Motley Crue the next in line to claim it’s the end, only to be back out on the road in a few short years? I’ve read all the interviews with Vince Neil stating that this is really going to be it. The band doesn’t want to be on a forever farewell tour, they don’t want to be like other bands who claim it’s the end, only to come back, but again, every single band says that. It’s no secret that Crue has had difficulty selling out shows on recent tours. They haven’t released a new album since Saints Of Los Angeles in 2008 and while there is speculation that a new album will be released before the next tour, I am doubtful. I am also doubtful that this next tour will be their last. The band is probably going through some inner turmoil right now (nothing new to them) and just want to place an end date out there so they can say, “Okay, the end is in sight. I can get through this now.” Honestly though what else are they going to do? Yes, Nikki has SIXX:AM, but that is nowhere near the same as having Motley Crue. And while Mick Mars health may be the one piece that makes this “farewell” tour a reality, I am still doubtful.

Chances: Slim (24%)

Axl And Slash Bury The Hatchet And The Original Guns N Roses Reunites

By now most fans have given up the ghost and no longer holding out for an all original member reunion from one of the biggest rock bands ever, Guns N Roses. While Slash may be willing to bury the hatchet and go out on a final mega-tour, Axl will never allow this reunion to take place. There is still way too much anger inside of him, and for whatever reason, he still holds a lot of hatred toward Slash. I personally think that Axl is jealous of how loved Slash is by the GNR fans. Whatever the reason, Axl has stated that there is no way he would ever be on stage with Slash again. And while there was a sliver of hope about a year ago, I think that hope has died. The only way to see the original Guns N Roses on stage together is to watch it on video.

Chances: Absolutely None (0%)

Van Halen Records A New Album And Tours By 2015

All has been quiet in the Van Halen camp as of late. Rumors pop up from time to time that the band is in the studio, or planning a massive tour for next year, only to be quickly shot down by the band or their PR department. And while the demand for tickets is still there, the real question lies on whether this band can keep it together for an entire tour. Between infighting, unstableness, and huge egos, Van Halen is always at the center of some sort of controversy when they are on the road. Their last album was supposedly a bunch of reworked outtakes from the 70s, which leads to the question of whether there is any creative fuel left in the tank. David Lee Roth is always ready to record or head out on the road, but his musical partner, Eddie Van Halen, works at a much slower pace. With no new tour dates emerging, I think it is safe to say that it will be a long wait before we get a new Van Halen album.

Chances: Slim To None (17%)

1 Night Ranger – Florence, Ky Review & Photo Gallery

NightRanger14
DV8, John Waite, and Night Ranger rocked the University of Cincinnati Medical Center Stadium in Florence, KY Saturday Night.  Cincinnati’s favorite rockers DV8 opened the show on the main concourse stage, and provide an excellent set of classic tunes including Aerosmith, Boston, Shooting Star, Styx, and more recent songs from Kid Rock, Evanescence, Shinedown & many more.  DV8 did a great job warming up the growing crowd at UCMC Stadium.

John Waite took the stage around 7:30 P.M. and dished out a great set of songs from his outstanding career with The Baby’s, Bad English and more.It was great to hear so many of Waite’s songs that I never got to hear live. John Waite’s voice is in fine shape.  His voice hasn’t changed at all over the years.  The great surprise of the night was seeing Keri Kelli (Alice Cooper, Pretty Boy Floyd) playing guitar for Waite’s band.  Kelli got a chance to shine with a killer guitar solo, and really added a heavy & rocking flair to John Waite’s songs.   John Waite’s set list included the songs, “Change”, “Missing You”, “Back On My Feet Again”, and “Best of What I Got”.   John’s encore feature an A cappella version of “When I See You Smile”, and a rocking cover of “Whole Lotta Love”.

Over the last couple of years, the one band that has become a must see act for me is Night Ranger.  Each and every time I see Night Ranger live, the band delivers an energetic set of outstanding tunes.  Saturday night was no different. From the first moment Night Ranger took the stage, they owned the night.  Brad Gillis, Joel Hoekstra and Jack Blades impressed me with their guitar acrobatics.  Gillis and Hoekstra were absolutely killing it Saturday Night. They might just be one of the best guitar tandems in rock and roll today.

Of course I can’t talk about Night Ranger, without mentioning Jack Blades & Kelly Keagy.  Both Jack & Kelly are such tremendous vocal talents. It is rare that a band has not one, but two exceptional singers.  Night Ranger plays up to those strengths in all of their songs.

Night Ranger’s set included the songs “Lay It On Me”, “Sing Me Away”, “Four In The Morning”, “Coming of Age” (Damn Yankees), “Crazy Train” (Ozzy Osbourne), “Growing Up In California”, “Rumours In The Air”, “Secret of My Success”, “Sentimental Street”, an extremely rocking version of “Eddie’s Comin’ Out Tonight”,  “High Enough” (Damn Yankees), “Boys of Summer” (Don Henley), “When You Close Your Eyes”, “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” and an encore of “Sister Christian” and “(You Can Still) Rock In America”.

Night Ranger’s show was an absolute blast, and my only disappointment is I will have to wait several months to see them play again.  Don’t miss Night Ranger if they come to your town.  You can check out Night Ranger’s 2013 tour dates here!

0 Eve To Adam’s “Locked & Loaded” Released Today

  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music

EVETOADAMLOCKEDANDLOADED

NYC’s guitar-driven, anthemic Rock band EVE TO ADAM ups-the-ante with their new, game-changing release LOCKED & LOADED (3-For-5/MRI/Sony Red) available September 17 and new single “IMMORTAL” hitting radio on September 24. “IMMORTAL” was co-written and produced by Dave Bassett (Halestorm, Shinedown) and is currently featured on Tunes “New & Noteworthy.“ The epic anthem, which is highly cinematic in tone, is a tribute to heroic legacies.

Comments Eve To Adam frontman Taki Sassaris: “Immortal is dedicated to those whose accomplishments and influence will last way beyond their living years. It’s about those people that everybody else wants to emulate and strives to be like.”

The track first premiered on Artist Direct, who says“The song is a grungey, dark, moody track. We love it. You will, too.”

Loudwire is premiering the album stream of Locked & Loaded which will run through September 17 at www.loudwire.com.

Screamer Magazine says: “If you are a fan of melodic, indie style hard rock (sorry, no growler vocals or slick, corporate rock here) you need to get this album (Locked & Loaded). As in, right now…”

Eve To Adam, who has long been known as one of the hardest working, dedicated and resilient bands in Modern Rock, is upping their game. As an arena and stadium level act positioned for global recognition, Eve To Adam has performed with Motley Crue, Daughtry, Chevelle, POD, Hinder and Halestorm among others.

For Locked & Loaded, the band has enlisted top notch writer/producers including Dave Bassett, who was involved in Halestorm’s GRAMMY-win for “Best Hard Rock Performance” as co-writer of “Love Bites (So Do I)”; Eric Bass (Shinedown) and Elvis Baskette (Incubus, Falling In Reverse, Alter Bridge). The results of this power-trio/synthesis is a strong, cohesive and well-received work that stretches limitations and stands the test of time. The songwriting and production represents the bands strongest and most versatile effort to date, pushing into new territory with influences ranging from heavy metal to electronica, industrial rock and pop.

Comments Dave Bassett: “Eve To Adam are on a mission to reclaim real, Rock `n Roll. The grit, the power, the danger…it’s all there with these guys and it was an amazing experience collaborating with them to bring the energy of their live show into the studio. To put it simply, they are poised to explode”

Adds Eric Bass:  “From beat one, Eve To Adam’s `Locked & Loaded’ commands attention. If raw talent, good songs, and dogged determination is what is needed to save Rock `N Roll, then these guys are leading from the front! I’m proud to have worked on this record.”

Eve To Adam will appear on Artie Lang Show on September 20; Nikki Sixx’s nationally syndicated Sixx Sense Radio program October 15/17, Modern Drummer Vlog and Track-By-Track  (September 17 – launch week) and Music Choice are on board.

Eve To Adam, who count legendary, GRAMMY-winning songwriter Desmond Child (Aerosmith, Katy Perry, KISS, Bon Jovi) is an early mentor, are:  Taki Sassaris (frontman/vocalist); Gaurav Bali (lead guitar); Alex Sassaris (drums); Luis Espaillat (bassist/backing vocalist) and Adam Latiff (formerly with Puddle of Mudd) is the newest member, as touring rhythm guitarist/backing vocalist.

The band just wrapped the Highway Robbery Tour with Texas Hippie Coalition in support of its Active Rock charting single “Straitjacket Supermodel.”  Prior to that, Eve To Adam toured on the Jagermeister Presents bill with Halestorm and In This Moment, preceded by both legs of Creed’s national tour. The band continues to generate multiple media impressions, in addition to a sizable spike in their social media fanbase, with over 118, 258 likes on Facebook to date.

OUR OWN DEVICES DROPS TUESDAY 9/17

The official video for “The Human Race” from Florida-based progressive metallers Mindcage is available for viewing below!

The full album, OUR OWN DEVICES, drops Tuesday, September 17.

A dark and powerful short movie, the video introduces the character of Arabella Vash, a young woman who exists in a utilitarian clockwork society.  She is becoming empowered by visions and dreams, and about to start her journey to find the band of rebels, The One Constant (portrayed by the band), that she will lead.  “The Human Race” is her awakening, and call to power.

In search of an appropriate post apocalyptic steam punk setting for their video, Mindcage chose to film in the historical district of their hometown of Pensacola FL. With the vision, creativity and costuming skills of Airship Isabella [http://airshipisabella.com/], an authentic and innovative steam-punk troupe from New Orleans, Mindcage was able to convey their vision of The One Constant and the dystopian world in which they live.

Jason Thomsen directed and edited “The Human Race.”   He recently served as assistant director on “Girl from Iceland” (a Kinematic Entertainment Production).  The track features vocals by Hydrogyn’s Julie Westlake.

OUR OWN DEVICES is mixed by rock legend Michael Wagener (Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Alice Cooper, Megadeth, Dokken, and Overkill).  The core members of Mindcage – Dietrick Hardwick (writer, guitarist), Brian Howell (bass) and Craig Nudo (drums) – have been connected personally and through music for almost thirty years.  Jeff Hignite, a recent but important addition, brought not only lyrical contribution but also his powerhouse vocals.

Our Own Devices is quite impressive: between the idea, lyrics, vocal arrangements, brisk guitar, and accomplished arrangements, it easily stands in the fine tradition of conceptual progressive metal albums like Queensryche’s Operation Mindcrime. Very recommended.

Europe Live At Sweden Rock

earMUSIC is excited to announce the UK release of Europe’s “Live At Sweden Rock – 30th Anniversary Show” (2CD, DVD and Blu-ray) on Monday 21st October 2013.

To celebrate the news, the band has premiered a stunning video clip of  “The Final Countdown – Live”.   Watcgh below to see the video performance of this classic song in its entirety.

On 7th June 2013, Europe took the stage in their home country Sweden for a special occasion: celebrating 30 years of rock music. The Swedish rock band celebrated this event together with 30,000 fans at the prestigious Sweden Rock Festival.  Europe performed 28 songs, selecting their personal favorite moments spanning from their earlier years up to their most recent songs taken from albums including Last Look At Eden and Bag Of Bones; plus songs performed for the very first time.

Described as a greatest hits extravaganza, Europe’s headline festival performance also displayed it’s more soulful moments, especially when the band sat down to perform an emotional acoustic set. This segment of the concert gave the massive festival atmosphere an intimate club feeling before Europe returned to perform the hard rock anthems their fans have grown to love and cherish.

To pay tribute to some of their biggest rock heroes, Europe invited two very special guests to perform with them – Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy) for an electrifying version of Jailbreak and Michael Schenker (MSG, ex-UFO and Scorpions) for their tribute to UFO’s classic Lights Out.

The set list is full of treasures and surprises. Europe were determined to celebrate and enjoy their long record of hit singles including Carrie, Rock The Night, Superstitious, Open Your Heart, Last Look At Eden, Prisoners in Paradise, New Love In Town and, of course, the ever-present and always electrifying iconic rock anthem The Final Countdown.

Clocking in over 2 hours, 40 minutes of footage, and filmed with state-of-the-art hi def cameras, the concert features behind-the-scenes material, plus an exclusive interview with the band, making “Live At Sweden Rock – 30th Anniversary Show” the definitive Europe live experience!

Painside 2013

‘Reject The Silence’, the new video from modern metal band PAINSIDE, can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Alex Medeiros and the song comes off the band’s new EP “Build Your Fiction”.

Painside recently released a new EP called ‘Build Your Fiction’, featuring ‘Break The Hive’, ‘Reject The Silence’ and ‘A Caustic Romance’. The new effort was mixed at AudioHammer Studios by Mark Lewis (Trivium, All That Remains, Unearth, The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel). It also features a remastered version of 2010’s ‘Unbreakable’ (Ronys Torres UFC 109 theme), featuring Jean Dolabella (ex-Sepultura) on drums, as a bonus track. The songs are available for streaming on www.soundcloud.com/painside .

Gone are the dark lyrics from the first album; it’s time to talk about life under a new light. This represents a new beginning: a new line-up, new logo, new symbol and marks the start of a new fiction built by the band. Painside’s first album, ‘Dark World Burden’, was released worldwide in 2010 by the swedish label, Inner Wound Recordings, featuring guest vocals by Chris Bolthendal (Grave Digger), Renato Tribuzy and Gus Monsanto (Symbolica, Adagio, Revolution Renaissance).

Build Your Fiction will be released October 7th

HALCYON WAY are currently in the final stages of mixing for their new album.  The band recently completed work on a video for the song “Web Of Lies”.  The video received its exclusive premiere last weekend at the ProgPower USA XIV in Atlanta, GA.  The video can be seen below!

Guitarist Jon Bodan commented on the video and the upcoming tour:

“We are very excited to unleash our first music video on the world!  It’s been a long time coming but we like to do things right, and we think it’s worth the wait.  Check it out, and share it with your friends!  Also be sure to see us on tour with Saxon and Fozzy this month!”

The band’s forthcoming album was produced by Jon Bodan & Lasse Lammert (Alestorm, Gloryhammer) with additional vocal production by Seth Von Paulus (Linda Perry, Alicia Keys, Crash Kings, Smashing Pumpkins).  Art will again be handled by the legendary Travis Smith at Seempieces.”

Known for their explosive live shows, instantly catchy melodies, precise vocal harmonies, incendiary guitar work, intricate yet pounding drums, and live props and showmanship hearkening back to the glory days of arena rock, they dominate the live scene.

Aurally combining the heaviness of bands like Testament, the technical prowess of Dream Theater, the power metallic attitude of Evergrey and soaring vocal melodies, HALCYON WAY will leave you awestricken by their punishing riffs and unforgettable hooks.
