New RONNIE JAMES DIO Covers Album “This Is Your Life”
Celebrates the Life and Legacy of a Legend
available April 1, 2014 via Rhino
This Is Your Life Pays Tribute To The Late Singer With Covers Of
His Greatest Songs From Rainbow, Black Sabbath, And Dio
Features Newly Recorded Tracks From Anthrax, Halestorm, Rob Halford, Metallica, Motörhead, Scorpions, Corey Taylor, And Tenacious D, Among Others
To Benefit The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund
Ronnie James Dio is one of the most beloved figures in rock history. His gifts, both as a singer and songwriter, are instantly recognizable, whether he was with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, or leading Dio. Sadly, Dio lost his battle with stomach cancer in 2010, but his towering voice and legacy live on.
To celebrate one of rock’s most powerful voices, an all-star group of his friends and fans recorded 13 of their favorite tracks for a tribute album that will raise funds for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund (diocancerfund.org). Produced by his longtime manager and wife Wendy Dio, the album includes contributions by such metal heavyweights as Metallica, Motörhead, Scorpions, Anthrax, and Rob Halford, as well as appearances by many of the musicians who performed with Dio over the years.
This Is Your Life will be available from Rhino on April 1, 2014 for a suggested list price of $18.98. A digital version will also be available.
Although the songs featured on the album touch on the different eras of Dio’s career, several spotlight his time with Rainbow, including Metallica’s epic, nine-minute “Ronnie Rising Medley,” which combines the Rainbow songs “A Light In The Black,” “Tarot Woman,” “Stargazer,” and “Kill The King.” Scorpions add a scorching take on “The Temple Of The King” while Motörhead is joined by Biff Byford from Saxon on “Starstruck.” Rob Halford teams with frequent Dio collaborators Vinny Appice, Doug Aldrich, Jeff Pilson, and Scott Warren for “The Man On The Silver Mountain.” The final line-up of Dio’s solo band – Simon Wright, Craig Goldy, Rudy Sarzo and Scott Warren – are joined by Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) for “Catch The Rainbow,” a track from Rainbow’s 1975 debut.
Anthrax and Adrenaline Mob honor Dio’s memorable stint with Black Sabbath with their takes on “Neon Knights” and “The Mob Rules” respectively, as does a group, led by Oni Logan on vocals along with Jimmy Bain, Rowan Robertson, and Brian Tichy, which performs “I” from Dehumanizer.
This Is Your Life also includes songs from Dio’s back-to-back platinum albums Holy Diver (1983) and The Last In Line (1984), with Doro’s take on “Egypt (The Chains Are On)”, Halestorm tackling “Straight Through The Heart,” Corey Taylor (Stone Sour, Slipknot) covering the classic “Rainbow In The Dark” and Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Glass) putting their signature spin on “The Last In Line.” Killswitch Engage’s cover of “Holy Diver,” a hit in its own right when released in 2006, is also included here.
Fittingly, Ronnie James Dio provides the finale (and the album’s title) with his moving performance of “This Is Your Life.” Originally released on Angry Machines (1996), the song’s lyrics explore mortality and are backed by a stark and beautiful arrangement that features Dio accompanied only by his longtime keyboardist Scott Warren on piano. The song serves as a poignant reminder that we will never hear a voice like Dio’s again.
The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, co-founded by Wendy Dio, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable fund dedicated to supporting cancer-prevention research, raising awareness and educating the public about the vital importance of early detection and prevention when dealing with this deadly disease.

1 Emperors and Elephants – Devil In The Lake (2014) – CD Review
The Windy City has unleashed a massive new modern hard rock juggernaut onto the scene with the band, Emperors and Elephants.
Emperors and Elephants sound is influenced by 90’s hard rock scene. The band wears their influences on their sleeves, on their new album Devil In The Lake. On the first listen, I immediately noticed the Alice in Chains influence but found their music to be completely refreshing. If you are expecting another album full of down tuned guitars, think again. There are a lot of infectious riffs to be found on this album. Emperors and Elephants recently added Randy “The Arsonist” Cooper from Texas Hippie Coalition to their ranks, and his playing mixed with Jeph Stiph’s gives E+E, a pretty fantastic guitar tandem. If the opening track “Bring It Down” doesn’t make you a quick believer, “Who Are You” will certainly drive the point home.
Devil In The Lake has a bunch of radio ready tracks. Some songs are pretty heavy, some tone it down to allow Jesse Andrews’ voice to shine. When Andrews’ voice is the focal point in the music, you will find that he has a pretty awesome voice, and he can hold his own with some of the best modern rock singers out there today.
My Favorite songs on Devil In the Lake include “Bring It Down”, “Who Are You”, “Hit of Red”, “You and I” and the band’s hard rockin’ cover of the Chris Isaac classic “Wicked Game”.
Emperors and Elephants is easily one of the best new modern hard rock bands I have listened to in 2014. If you are a fan of bands like Alice in Chains, Shinedown and Pop Evil, do yourself a favor, and check out Devil In The Lake. I think you are going to like Emperors and Elephants a lot. I sure do!
Track Listing:
01. Bring It Down
02. Who Are You
03. Your Will
04. Man of God
05. Locust
06. Hit of Red
07. Deep Sleep
08. Change
09. Wicked Game
10. Ghost In The Mirror
11. You And I
12. M.oG. – Dupermang Re-Mix
Emperors and Elephants are:
Jesse Andrews – Vocals
Jason Meudt – drums
Jeph Stiph – Guitars
Randy “The Arsonist” Cooper – Guitars

0 NYC METALLISTS MARTYRD ANNOUNCE TOUR DATES WITH THRASH METAL TRAILBLAZERS, METAL CHURCH
Fresh off the release of their newest single and video “Faceless,” New York City’s Martyrd has announced that they will be doing several shows with Metal Church – a band that is often considered to be one of the trailblazers of the thrash metal movement, and responsible for penning such headbanging classics as “Watch the Children Pray.”
“I love Metal Church!” exclaims Martyrd guitarist, Michael Andreas. “Their heavy melodic sound has definitely had a huge influence on me as a musician, and I’m really honored to be able to go out and share the stage with them on this tour.” And as singer Aaron Pollard adds, “F*** yeah! I can’t wait to get on the road again in 2014, what better way to do that than with Metal Church!”
Comprised of singer Pollard, guitarists Michael Andreas and Mike Kitsos, bassist Brian Nichols, and drummer Randall Lee, Martyrd has quickly made a name for themselves on the US east coast. And their last album, 2012’s sophomore effort, ‘The Mortal Coil,’ saw the group on tour with six-string legend Yngwie Malmsteen, while gaining praise from the metal press, including Guitar World Magazine, which proclaimed Martyrd was “A melee of blistering riffs and soaring vocal melodies sure to please fans of both Kreator and Symphony X.”
‘The Mortal Coil’ also reached #14 nationally on the CMJ Loud Rock Charts, while the group also completed their successful “Fall of the Faithful” fall-winter tour; and enjoyed a strong performance of the album’s single, “Pain of Reason.” Additionally, Martyrd has shared the stage with countless renowned heavy metal acts, including Children of Bodom, Black Dahlia Murder, Sonata Arctica, God Forbid, Testament, Death Angel, Ensiferum, and many more.
“‘Faceless’ is my new favorite,” explains Andreas about one of the band’s standout new tracks. “We had so much fun writing, recording, and listening to it. We’ve been writing a ton of new material since we released ‘The Mortal Coil,’ but ‘Faceless’ just sort of came together on its own, very quick. Its no-nonsense – it comes in pounding right off the bat, and then makes a statement with that heavy verse riff. There’s definitely a lot of heaviness, in fact, I think Aaron in particular has never sounded so heavy. But there’s also harmony and melody – that chorus is just asking you to sing along. This song is what Martyrd’s all about; it’s heavy and pounding and aggressive, but also melodic and kind of catchy. It’s just really fun to play and listen to. We can’t wait to take it out on the road and really see our friends and fans get into it!”
Fans can view the music video for Faceless below
To purchase the song, visit iTunes at this link.

1 SALIVA RETURN WITH NEW SINGER, LABEL, SINGLE, ALBUM, AND TOUR
If you counted Saliva out when you heard that they had parted ways with singer Josey Scott, you have been proven dead wrong – all you have to do is give a listen to the group’s upcoming single, “Rise Up” (impacting radio and available for purchase via all digital stores on February 18th), and album of the same name (April 29th, via Rum Bum). And with new singer Bobby Amaru firmly in place, it appears as though there is a bright future for the new-look Saliva line-up, which also includes guitarist Wayne Swinny, bassist Dave Novotny, and drummer Paul Crosby.
“We’re lucky to have found him,” says Swinny about his new band mate. “We discovered him through one of our old crew guys. He really energized the rest of us. He’s a great songwriter, and a top-shelf producer in his own right.”
With acclaimed producer Bobby Huff (Papa Roach, 3 Doors Down, Tim Finn) on board, all the pieces seem to be in place. And Saliva has delivered with their new single, “Rise Up.” “‘Rise Up’ …it’s a statement on where we’re at,” adds Swinny. “The title just has that fire to it.”
And if you are a longtime Saliva fan, you are sure to be extremely pleased with the full-length ‘Rise Up’ – a bold record full of big hooks, swagger and plenty
of guitars. And, outside of the ballad “Lost,” it’s first and foremost a rock record. These are songs that kick hard, from the immediacy of the aforementioned “Rise Up,” to the slow build of “Choke,” and the rollickin’ “Redneck Freakshow,” a song the band seems particularly proud of.
Saliva has already debuted a number of new songs live, with Amaru seamlessly working his way into the line-up. “The audiences have been great,” says the singer. “I think we have a whole new energy on stage.” Expect to see the band on tour the rest of the year and well into next. “It’s definitely a throwback, fun, party rock show,” adds Swinny. “And Bobby’s putting his own spin on the older material.”
Another piece to the puzzle has been uniting with a new independent label, Rum Bum Records, founded by Luis Bacardi, based in Miami, FL. Led by a team of
industry veterans dedicated to finding original talent of all genres, the label offers worldwide distribution, and provides artists with the resources necessary to develop and expand their careers. By utilizing a variety of platforms including imaging, video production, marketing, social media, and publicity, Rum Bum Records is able to create versatile portfolios for talent, opening the doors to as many opportunities as possible. Additionally, the label has a full state of the art HD Film studio to successfully build an artist’s image and brand identity into one that is fully recognized and sought after by the public.
There’s certainly a lot of revitalized energy on display throughout ‘Rise Up.’ And despite his late arrival, Amaru thinks he knows why Saliva in 2014 sounds as vital as they were in 2001. “We’ve just gone back to the basics. You know, /being a rock band.”/
Saliva:
Wayne Swinny – guitars
Dave Novotny – bass
Paul Crosby – drums, percussion
Bobby Amaru – vocals

1 Vie’s Verses – Rock And Roll Cruises
I am almost ashamed to admit that I have never been on a rock cruise. Heck, I’ve only been on one cruise in my life, and that was for my honeymoon. It’s not that I don’t love cruises, because I absolutely do, and yet, I’ve never given much thought to attending a rock cruise. I think I need to live and dream a little more.
Rock cruises seem to be a great way to combine a vacation with the ultimate concert experience. You can ship to an exotic locale, warm yourself on a beautiful beach, and then rock out with your favorite band or bands all night. For a music lover that enjoys travel, this seems to be the perfect getaway. Cruises in general are just an exceptional way to spend a vacation. There’s drinking, games, drinking, excellent food, drinking, partying, and drinking. And since no one’s driving, drink up, man!
And on a rock cruise, not only would you get to witness some great bands live in concert, but after their performance, you get to hang out with them on the ship. Think about it, where the heck are they going to go? This is once in a lifetime access to rock stars where you can ask them any questions you want, buy them a drink, or just stargaze like a teenage fan-boy. Why haven’t I done this yet?
Some cruises are devoted to one individual band (Kiss Cruise, anyone?), while most present a vast array of artists. The Monsters Of Rock Cruise features Cinderella, Tesla, Kix, Ratt, Winger, Mike Tramp, and many, many more. The Rock Legends cruise has Alice Cooper, 38 Special, Molly Hatchet, Blue Oyster Cult and more. This year’s Shiprocked also had its share of incredible bands. Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Three Days Grace, Sevendust, and In This Moment all performed alongside a plethora of other heavy rocking bands.
Each cruise travels to a warm, tropical island, which this time of year has me envious and yearning for summer to get here. And while I always check out the metal festivals and travel to the ones I can (especially M3), I’ve never considered taking a rock cruise. I think it’s time that I branched out a little and gave one a shot. Maybe instead of hitting the festivals next year I’ll look into booking myself on a rock cruise. With some of the lineups that I’ve seen for these cruises, it seems that it would be money well spent. However, it might be the only concert/vacation I get to do all year. The cruises mentioned above start out around the $1100 mark and go up from there, which might be why I haven’t looked into doing one yet. If only I could win that lotto drawing.
What about you? Have you ever gone on a rock cruise? What did you think of the overall experience?
Would you do it again? Drop us a line in the comments and let us know!

1 TWO CD ANTHOLOGY FROM HELLION SCHEDULED FOR APRIL RELEASE
*HELLION*
*‘To Hellion And Back’*
*The Anthology- 2CD Anthology 1983-2014*
*Release date – Tuesday, April, 1st 2014*
Los Angeles-based female-fronted metallers HELLION have inked a contract with London-based HNE/CHERRY RED RECORDS. The first of three HELLION albums set for release this year is a 2-disc anthology entitled TO HELLION AND BACK, which will be released on April 1, 2014, and the first 1,000 copies will be autographed by the band’s singer, ANN BOLEYN.
TO HELLION AND BACK chronicles the band’s beginnings from 1982, to the present, and features new music from Hellion. In 1983, when the term “female metal singer” did not exist, HELLION’s demo recordings (released as a self-titled Mini-LP) climbed to Number 6 in England’s rock charts. In America, HELLION however was regarded by the corporate music world as “too heavy” for a band with a female singer. Despite never releasing an album on a major record label, Hellion was the first female-fronted metal band to be featured on MTV and VH-1 and was also the first U.S. metal band to perform in the former-Soviet Union on a MONSTERS OF ROCK festival.
TO HELLION AND BACK features a collection of fan-favourites, hard-to-find recordings, and previously unreleased tracks. Among the collection are also two songs that were produced by RONNIE JAMES DIO at the legendary SOUND CITY recording studio.
The musicians enlisted by powerhouse vocalist Ann Boleyn for the new HELLION include drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC, QUEENSRŸCHE, DIO, DIO DISCIPLES), keyboardist Scott Warren (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL), Swedish import bassist Bjorn Englen (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, DIO DISCIPLES), and up-and-coming lead guitarist Maxxxwell Carlisle.
HELLION’s new tracks were produced by legendary British studio icon Ken Scott, who has produced iconic albums, including DAVID BOWIE’s “Hunky Dory”, “The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars”, “Aladdin Sane” and “Pinups”. A top producer at Abbey Road Studios, Scott is also acknowledged as one of the five principal engineers for THE BEATLES. He has engineered countless classic works, including GEORGE HARRISON’s “All Things Must Pass”, ELTON JOHN’s “Madman Across The Water”, “Honky Chateau” and “Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player.” Other credits include gold and platinum albums by SUPERTRAMP, DAVID BOWIE, MISSING PERSONS, KANSAS, and more. Scott recently said of the comparison between working with David Bowie and Ann Boleyn: “Working with Bowie or working with Ann of HELLION, you’ve got sheer talent.” Acknowledging Boleyn as the driving force propelling the band, Scott notes: “Over the years, the musicians have changed. The one musician that has always been the same is Ann. So once again, it’s new musicians. The one constant thing about HELLION is Ann, and her incredible voice.”
Says Wright of working with Boleyn and HELLION: “She’s tried to stay true to that heaviness and a certain darkness. She’s sticking to the same formula, just different musicians though.”
HELLION will tour in Europe, and the UK in 2014 and are expected to appear on a number of major festivals. The cover artwork was designed by Italian artist Gaetano Di Falco and inspired by the photography of P.G. Brunelli.

ALTER BRIDGE HIT THE TOP 5 AT ROCK RADIO WITH LATEST SINGLE “ADDICTED TO PAIN”
Debut Single from Latest Album Fortress Hits #5 On Mediabase Active Rock Chart and BDS Rock Chart
Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti to Appear on That Metal Show This Month in Support of Latest Album and Upcoming World Tour
Alter Bridge are proving to American radio what the rest of the world has already known, they are a musical force to be reckoned with. The band’s debut single “Addicted To Pain” has reached the Top 5 on both the Mediabase Active Rock Chart and the BDS Rock Chart. The single is currently heating up radio waves across the country with stations like WMMR (Phladelphia), WRIF (Detroit), KUPD (Phoenix) and Sirius Octane supporting the single. WJJO in Madison had this to say, “This song has the USA figuring out what the rest of the world already knew: Alter Bridge is amazing.”
“Addicted To Pain” is the first single from the band’s latest album Fortress. Fortress debuted at #12 on the Billboard Top 200, #5 on the Top Current Rock Albums and Top Current Alternative Albums and outsold the band’s previous release, ABIII. Fortress also hit #1 on the iTunes Rock Album chart and #8 on the iTunes Top Album chart the week it was released. The latest release from the rock juggernaut band comprised of Myles Kennedy on vocals/guitar, Mark Tremonti on guitar/vocals, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums, has been getting rave reviews around the world. The Guardian newspaper called Fortress: “As epic as prime Led Zep and as thunderous as peak-form Sabbath…” and Loudwire declares “the substance and technicality that they have immersed into their music have elevated them to a whole new level.” The album was produced by long-time Alter Bridge producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette, known for his work with Falling In Reverse, Story Of The Year and Incubus.
Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti are confirmed to appear on the current season of That Metal Show. This appearance marks the first time Alter Bridge will be on the show even though both guys have appeared on the show before. Myles Kennedy appeared on the show with Slash and Mark Tremonti was on the show in support of his solo project. The band will appear in support of Fortress and to promote their upcoming world tour. The show will air on Saturday, February 15th at 11PM ET/PT on VH1 Classic.
Alter Bridge will be hitting the road this month in support of Fortress. The band will be playing shows in Japan and Australia before coming back for their first US run in support of the latest album. The US tour kicks of April 14th in Dallas, TX and runs through May 18th where it wraps up at Rock on the Range in Columbus, OH. The tour will be making stops in Atlanta, Chicago and New York. The band will also be heading over to Europe this summer where they will be closing this year’s Download Festival on Sunday night as direct support to Aerosmith.
Alter Bridge burst onto the music scene in 2004 with the release of their gold-selling debut, One Day Remains. In 2007, the band released Blackbird, the album that elevated the band’s profile worldwide. The epic solo in the title track “Blackbird” was voted “Greatest Guitar Solo Of All Time” by Guitarist Magazine. ABIII was released in 2010 and the single “Isolation” gave the band their first #1 single. Alter Bridge has appeared on The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live and their music has been used by the WWE, Major League Baseball and NASCAR. When Alter Bridge is on hiatus, singer Myles Kennedy can be found fronting Slash’s band, Slash, featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. Guitarist Mark Tremonti recently released his fist solo project All I Was that found Wolfgang Van Halen playing bass with Mark on the road. Scott Phillips formed Projected with John Connolly and Vinnie Hornsby of Sevendust and released their debut in 2012.

1 RPR set to release KXM featuring members of Korn, King’s X, and Lynch Mob!
RAT PAK RECORDS SET TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM FROM THE NEW SUPERGROUP “KXM” FEATURING: GEORGE LYNCH, RAY LUZIER (KORN) AND dUg PINNICK (King’s X)
A new musical force to be reckoned with is about to turn the rock world upside down with the release of their self-titled debut, KXM. KXM is comprised of dUg Pinnick of King’s X on vocals/bass, George Lynch of Lynch Mob/Dokken on guitars and Korn’s drum maestro, Ray Luzier, rounds out the powerhouse trio. The band takes its name from the combination of the member’s other projects: K from Korn, X from King’s X and M from Lynch Mob.
The self-titled debut of KXM is something truly unique and special. The songs are powerful, precise, and transcend beyond the boundaries of the imagination. In today’s overpopulated music arena, true gems become harder and harder to find, but KXM’s unified vision rises above the normal and creates its own space. From the opening drum riff of “Stars” to the final chord on “Human Friction,” KXM is an album that is sure to resonate with fans from the band’s original projects, while garnering new ones as well. Songs like “Gun Fight,” “Faith Is A Room” and the first single “Rescue Me” are sure to be instant favorites among fans. The band shows their softer side on the ballad “Never Stop” along with their dark side on the tale of domestic violence, “Sleep.”
KXM formed in early 2013 when dUg, George and Ray spoke about trying to jam together. At the time it wasn’t clear what would come from those jams. The only thing that was clear was that these 3 musicians, at the top of their game, wanted to play together. The self-titled debut, KXM, was born from those jam sessions and is now an important piece in each band member’s musical legacy. In a world that constantly searches for new and unique music, KXM delivers all the power and punch that one would expect from these high level players! Official release date is set for March 11, 2014
0 Israeli Metallers SWITCHLBADE Signs With Rock’N’Growl
Israeli heavy metallers SWITCHBLADE signs worldwide management deal with Germany’s ROCK’N’GROWL MANAGEMENT. SWITCHBLADE aims to attain the same sparkles and enthusiasm that made the 80s Metal scene so great in a sense that it will sink in deep in today’s perception of Metal music.
SWITCHBLADE are:
Lior “Steinmetal” Stein – Vocals
Fede “FedeRock” Taich – Lead, Rhythm Guitars
Venedict Pavlovic – Rhythm, Lead Guitars
Boris Siper – Bass
Moshe “Moshpit” Sabah – Drums
ICED EARTH performing for the first time in Israel. SWITCHBLADE, along with their local peers, Prowlers, will support the American Heavy/Power Metal giants.
Since 2005 the Israeli Switchblade has been trying to find the right Metal image that will be sufficient for its members. Six years later, along with shifting Metal subgenres, several unofficial releases, a few gigs with various of groups within the Israeli Metal scene, plenty of lineup changes, and a few bruises, Switchblade found its right purpose and direction. With a talented solid lineup that shared the same devotion to the classic years of Metal, the Switchblade group began playing their material with strong accordance to their true worship, 80s Heavy Metal. 2011 saw the release of the first official digital single, “Endless War/Euphoria“, announcing a newfound landmark for the band. Less than a year later, Switchblade issued its second digital single, “Metalista“, which was highly perceived by the local and foreign Metal scenes. After finalizing its performance in the finals of the local 2012’s “Wacken Metal Battle“, Switchblade began working on its debut album “Heavy Weapons“.
Switchblade’s emergence wasn’t with the purpose of reinventing the vintage steel, it came to relive it and keep the old fires burning. Among a few blinks towards progression, Switchblade aims to attain the same sparkles and enthusiasm that made the 80s Metal scene so great in a sense that it will sink in deep in today’s perception of Metal music. “Heavy Weapons” consisting of nine tracks, a few from the band’s past along with fresh material, might become one of the pillars of the old burning flame of Heavy Metal.

0 Swedish Rockers H.E.A.T Tear Down The Walls With New Album
The long-awaited new studio album from Sweden’s hottest rock and roll band, H.E.A.T, will be officially released by earMusic in the UK on April 14th. Entitled “Tear Down The Walls”, the album features the new single “A Shot At Redemption” – taken from the same titled 4-track EP, released digitally on February 14th.
Recorded at Bohus Studios with Grammy-award winning producer Tobias Lindell, the first sneak peak of the album is the lead single “A Shot At Redemption”. Watch the teaser video HERE…
The new song confirms all that H.E.A.T showed before and more: a catchy hookline, a driven beat, the obligatory guitar solo and the raw, beyond comparison vocals of singer Erik Grönwall.
The “A Shot At Redemption” EP also includes the previously unreleased tracks “Under Your Skin”, a goosebumps worthy acoustic version of H.E.A.T’s “In And Out Of Trouble” and a sensual cover of one of the greatest ballads, “She”s Like The Wind”.
“Tearing Down The Walls” is the follow-up to the successful “Address The Nation” which was praised by media worldwide as one of the best album’s in 2012 and cemented the band’s reputation as the new leading band in hard edged melodic rock. H.E.A.T had a huge hit in Scandinavia with the song “1000 Miles” in 2009 and the band’s 2nd Album, “Freedom Rock” was nominated as one of the Top 50 albums in 2010 by the UK’s Classic Rock magazine.
While bands like Foreigner, Journey and Whitesnake are enjoying a resurgence with teenagers who are re-discovering the melodic approach to hard rock, H.E.A.T is carrying the torch forward for a new generation of rock fans. They’re young, ambitious and full of energy.
0 311 DEBUT BRAND-NEW SINGLE “FIVE OF EVERYTHING”

“Five Of Everything” is the lead single from new 311 album STEREOLITHIC, set for release on March 11th (“new 311 on 3/11!”). The album arrives via 311 Records and is being distributed by INgrooves, making it 311’s first truly independent release since their early days as an unsigned band living in Omaha, Nebraska.
311 recently teamed with PledgeMusic for a pre-order album promotion that enhances fan interaction. Those that pre-order the album (available in CD, vinyl and autographed bundles) will receive exclusive updates from the band and will be automatically entered into a bonus prize drawing to win more than 100 prizes, including an autographed signature series PRS SE guitar from Tim Mahoney, handwritten lyrics from vocalists Nick Hexum and SA Martinez, signed drumsticks used during the recording of the album from Chad Sexton, a Skype call from bassist P-Nut, backstage passes to meet the band, and much more.
STEREOLITHIC is also now available for pre-order at iTunes, with “Five of Everything” as an instant download (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/stereolithic/id813957557?ls=1).
311 recorded STEREOLITHIC with longtime collaborator/producer Scott Ralston, best known for his work on some of the band’s most popular releases, including 1993’s gold-selling Music, 1995’s triple-platinum selling 311, 1997’s platinum-selling Transistor and 1999’s gold-selling Soundsystem. STEREOLITHIC was mixed by Ralston and 311 drummer Chad Sexton.
The new album is the follow-up to 2011’s Universal Pulse, which entered Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart at No. 7, making it the band’s 8th straight top 10 debut.
The quintet will celebrate STEREOLITHIC’s release—and their 24th year together as a band—with their bi-annual “311 Day.” The 2014 concert, which takes place on March 11th at the New Orleans Arena, will be a coming home of sorts, as the first “311 Day” was held in New Orleans back in 2000 (the last two events took place in Vegas). Tickets have already been sold to fans from all 50 U.S. States and 15 countries who will travel to New Orleans for the special event. Ticket information is available at http://www.311.com/311Day2014.
Over the course of their amazing career, the now-Southern California-based 311 has sold close to 9 million albums in the U.S. alone. They’ve had 9 top 10 radio hits, including three No. 1’s. Their list of hits includes “Down,” “All Mixed Up,” “Amber,” “Love Song,” “Come Original,” “Beautiful Disaster,” “Don’t Tread On Me,” “Hey You” and “Sunset In July.” For 11 consecutive years, the band has headlined amphitheaters across the U.S. with their summer “Unity Tour.” They also host an annual Caribbean Cruise – a four-night trip from Miami to a private island in the Bahamas attended by thousands of fans from around the world.

About Skillet
Over the course of the past few years, GRAMMY nominated and platinum selling rock band Skillet has sold more than two million units in the U.S. alone, racked up more than 150 million YouTube views and amassed a diehard following (dubbed Panheads) whose members number over four million on Facebook alone. Their 2013 release RISE debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, which led to a No. 1 radio hit for “American Noise” and “Sick Of It.” RISE also gave Skillet their late night television debut on CONAN. RISE follows the band’s 2009 blockbuster, Awake, which was recently certified platinum for sales in excess of one million copies in the U.S and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. In addition, the record hit No. 1 on the iTunes Top Albums Chart, garnered three Billboard Music Awards and spawned four hit singles including the No. 1 Active Rock smash and gold-certified “Awake & Alive,” the gold-certified “Hero,” “It’s Not Me It’s You” and the platinum-certified “Monster.” “Monster” lived up to its name, selling more than a million copies and hitting Top 5 at Active Rock radio (the first in a string of multiple Top 5 active rock hits), while its companion video has generated over 47 million YouTube views. Skillet was the only active rock band to achieve RIAA Platinum Certification in 2012, and was one of only three rock bands (the other two being Mumford & Sons and The Black Keys) to strike platinum in 2012. Skillet is made up of John Cooper, Korey Cooper, Jen Ledger and Seth Morrison.

0 Red Dragon Cartel – S/T – (2014) – CD Review
When Eddie Trunk brought Jake E. Lee on That Metal Show in 2013, I couldn’t have been more excited. Mr. Lee has been noticeably absent from the hard rock world for a few years, and I greatly missed him. When Jake mentioned his new band Red Dragon Cartel, I was ecstatic that Jake was returning to make new music. I have longed to hear him play in a band since the last Badlands CD Dusk from ’98.
Well Red Dragon Cartel is finally here, and I couldn’t be happier. The new music is great, and has me super excited to see the band live later in 2014.
The opening track “Deceiver” is an awesome stadium anthem that easily states that JAKE E. LEE IS BACK! The riffs on this song sound like they could have easily been off of the Ozzy Osbourne Ultimate Sin album. I can’t get enough of this song.
The song “Shout It Out” has more of a modern flair to it, but it a good song, and one of my favorites on the album.
“Feeder” features Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander on vocals, and as always Zander does a terrific job. This guy could sing names out of the phone book and make it sound good. Jake E. Lee’s riffs are pretty awesome too. Something about the intro on this song reminds me of the opening music on the animated series Batman Beyond, but it is very cool.
“Fall From The Sky (Seagull)” is a slower tune that has a cool alternative vibe too it. I really dig this track. It sounds great loud too!
If there is one weak track on the Red Dragon Cartel album, It is “Wasted”. While I like Paul Di’Anno, I don’t think his voice has aged well, and this song to me would have been better with Darren Smith on vocals. I like the music, but the vocals kill it for me.
“Slave” is another cool rocker with some killer riffs from Jake E. Lee. This hard driving tune really gets your blood pumping.
I am sure some folks were shocked when they heard “Big Mouth” with Maria Brink on vocals. This is unlike anything Jake E. Lee has ever done. It is a modern hard rocker, which isn’t too far off from what In This Moment plays. I like In This Moment and Maria Brink so I have really been enjoying this tune. I am hoping In This Moment will play this live at some point.
The song “War Machine” is doom-laden Black Sabbath like metal opus that gets better every time I listen to it. What a cool tune!
I was surprised to find that Jake E. Lee locked in Sass Jordan to sing a song on the album. I love Sass Jordan, especially on her recent release S.U.N. – Something Unto Nothing. She is a powerful bluesy singer. She does a killer job on “Redeem Me”.
“Exquisite Tenderness” is the first song that Jake E. Lee ever wrote. This is a piano based instrumental that shows that Mr. Lee has a great musical talent beyond his guitar (but please don’t give up that six string Jake!).
If you buy the special Best Buy Edition of the Red Dragon Cartel CD, you will get a bonus track “American Dream”. Is it worth it? I think so. This is a cool rocker that should not be missed.
Overall, I have been enjoying Red Dragon Cartel. It has easily been my favorite hard rock CD of 2014 so far. Some of my peers have not been so kind to Red Dragon Cartel singer Darren Smith, but I will go on record that I like his voice a lot. He reminds of a cross between John Corabi and Rod Jackson. I like both of those singers and I like Darren too. I can’t wait to hear him sing these songs live.
Red Dragon Cartel’s debut is a solid album all the way through, and most importantly it brings Jake E. Lee back to the limelight, and live stages all across the world. Welcome back Jake! I am glad you and Red Dragon Cartel are here!
