1 Rock on T.V. – 2/27/08 – Bullet For My Valentine

Bullet For My Valentine will make their U.S. network TV debut on Wednesday, February 27 when the group rocks ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The band will play the title track of its brand new album, Scream Aim Fire, as well as “Tears Don’t Fail” from the The Poison.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” airs at 12:05 a.m. ET/11:05 p.m. CT.
2 Gene Simmons on the Apprentice
Hard rock legend, Gene Simmons will be making an appearance on Donald Trump’s latest “Apprentice” incarnation, “The Celebrity Apprentice.”
The new show, featuring an all-star lineup of candidates, will premiere tonight, Thursday, Jan 3, 9/8c, and air every Thursday.
What’s really unique about this “Apprentice” season is that rather than vying for a job with Donald Trump, the contestants will be working towards a greater goal — raising over a million dollars for their various charities throughout the season.
The final winner will have the opportunity to donate a $250,000 bonus check to their designated charity.
Check out Simmons talking about what it takes to succeed:

2 Kik Tracee – No Rules (Release Year – 1991)
One of my recent re-acquistions was the debut CD by Kik Tracee, No Rules.
This CD was produced by Slaughter’s Dana Strum. Not surprisingly, the band sounds like Slaughter, and at times a little like Guns ‘N Roses.
Steven Shareaux is a good singer, and has a sound that is somewhat unique. The band is quite solid as well.
No Rules is a CD that was a little better than some of the other offerings by many of the hard rock bands in the early 90’s. This CD, like many, was released to late in the game, and crashed and burned when Nirvana hit the music scene. The band hung around and released an EP in 1992 but then broke up and has not been heard from since.
Some of the stand out cuts on this disc are You’re So Strange, Trash City, Velvet Crush and the cover of the Paul Simon classic Mrs. Robinson.
Fans of 80’s hard rock are going to love No Rules! You can get low cost used copies of this CD at Amazon.com. Go grab one before they are all gone! You can hear more songs at Kik Tracee’s myspace page here.

1 Saxon – The Inner Sanctum (Release Year – 2007)
Saxon is a band that I haven’t checked out for a long time. Not since 1990’s Solid Ball of Rock to be exact.
Saxon has been a revolving door of musicians over the years and singer Biff Byford, and guitarist Paul Quinn are the only original members.
Judging from the quality tunes on The Inner Sanctum, it doesn’t matter who is in the band because Saxon is still kicking ass in 2007.
This disc opens up with three great crushing metal tracks in a row, and does not let up until you get to Red Star Falling.
Red Star Falling slows the pace down to give the listeners a break. This track has a hauntingly cool feel about it. There are keyboards layered into the track, but it isn’t over powering, and gives the song a cool feel.
Need For Speed is a great track, and will be one of my favorites for a long time. This is the perfect anthem for any racing fan.
Without going into a further song by song breakdown, I can easily say that their are no bad songs on the Inner Sanctum. This is a great heavy metal disc, that will appeal to fans of 80’s metal. The stand out tracks to me are State of Grace, Need For Speed, Going Nowhere Fast and Ashes to Ashes.
It blows my mind that Inner Sanctum is Saxon’s 19th studio album. This band was a critical part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, yet they fail to get the same respect on U.S. soil as some of their counterparts. Inner Sanctum is a disc that takes me back to the early 80’s sound of Judas Priest and Accept. It is a superb metal disc, that is easily one of the best of 2007. And to boot, my copy of the Inner Sanctum came with a bonus DVD with a bunch of live performances. Talk about getting more bang for your buck!! Looks like I need to work on some Saxon back catalog now. For the rest of you, pick up Inner Sanctum! You will not be disappointed.
