0 God Bless Ozzy (2011)
The new Ozzy Osbourne rockumentary God Bless Ozzy hits stores tomorrow!
Typically I am not a big fan of bio pictures, but this DVD is interesting from beginning to end. Ozzy’s son, Jack Osbourne is the producer of this movie, and worked on it for over three years before releasing. Jack has put together a terrific, unbiased film that most Ozzy Osbourne fans will want to watch. If you are familiar with Ozzy’s history, the movie might feel like a bit of a rehash of Ozzy’s life, but the interviews, behind the scene photographs and excerpts make this film really stand out.
The documentary has a ton of guest appearances, including Sir Paul McCartney, Tommy Lee, Robert Trujillo and more. There is some rare footage of Randy Rhoads that you won’t see anywhere else.
The Osbourne TV show painted Ozzy as the clown prince of rock n’ roll. If you want to know and learn about the real Ozzy, this is the film that you need to see. I enjoyed God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, and I think you will too.

0 Twisted Sister – Double Live: Northstage ’82 & NY Steel ’01 – DVD Review
From their humble glam metal beginnings to their 2001 reunion, Twisted Sister’s Double Live DVD gives Twisted Sister two unique concert experiences that they won’t want to miss.
The first DVD shows Twister Sister at a time when the band was hungry. That hunger helped propel a kickass live show that had to be amazing to see in person. They hadn’t written many of their biggest hits yet, but it didn’t matter, as their show was powerful enough without them. With a set filled with songs like “You Can’t Stop Rock and Roll”, “Under the Blade”, and their cover (they way it was meant to be heard) of the song “Leader of the Pack” from the Shangrilas complete with Dee Snider on a Motorcycle…. Judas Priest style. I thought it was funny that Dee mentioned the only cover song they were doing was a cover of the Rolling Stones, “It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll (But I Like It)”. Ummm Dee….didn’t you do “Leader of the Pack” a few songs earlier? I can’t figure out why they never recorded this cover. I have never seen Twisted Sister perform this song before. Their heavier and faster version completely rocks! The North Stage show is closed out with a blistering version of the Twisted Sister song, “Rock N’ Roll Saviours”. This song never got a proper studio release until Twisted Sister’s 2004 CD, Still Hungry. It is very cool to see it performed by the band 22 years before its release.
The film quality from the ’82 show isn’t the greatest, but the technology was somewhat limited when this was being filmed. The audio quality is pretty good, and makes up for it. For being a live recording in a dark and smoky club, it is more than adequate. It is a unique and very cool look back at one of the humble beginnings of became the juggernaut hard rock act, Twisted Sister.
Fast Forward nearly two decades to the second DVD, New York Steel 2001. You will catch the special reunion show that was orchestrated by every metalhead’s favorite DJ, Eddie Trunk. Twisted Sister reunited for the first time in fourteen years at the at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City for the New York Steel Charity Concert. This Charity show raised over $90,000 for the New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund. While this show raised money for a great cause, it helped Twisted Sister reunite, and they have been performing live every year since then.
Twisted Sister didn’t have on their costumes or make up for the New York Steel show, but their energy more than made up for it. Dee Snider was in rare form for New York Steel. He was quite angry over 9/11 and was parading a black T-shirt with F**k Osama on the back. His anger helped fuel, a memorable Twisted Sister show, and one that should not be missed by an hard rock fan.
The interviews on both DVD’s are a nice bonus. The interviews on the New York Steel, with Twisted Sister remembering their 9/11 experiences was interesting, if not a little haunting. I enjoyed Twisted Sister’s Double Live, and believe most hard rock fans will too!
You can pick up Twisted Sister Double Live at this link. This is a must own DVD set for any Twisted Sister fan! Buy it!!

3 Tesla – Comin’ Atcha Live! 2008 – DVD Review
Earlier this year Tesla released a new DVD, “Comin’ Atcha Live! 2008. This is a live concert video taken from the Myth nightclub in Maplewood, MN (near Minneapolis) on February 22, 2008.
If you missed Tesla on tour earlier this year, or even if you haven’t seen them before, and are a fan of the band, you ought to pick this DVD up.
For this concert to be a club show, the video footage, and audio is awesome. I am not sure how they accomplished some of the shots they did, but I was extremely pleased with the way this was filmed. This is high quality footage that has to be seen to be believed.
As far as live concert videos go, the band put on an excellent set that featured a ton of Tesla’s hits, as well as their new song “Dear Pvt. Ledbetter” from 2008 CD “Forever More”.
No only is the live footage superb, the behind the scenes footage is pretty cool as well. I enjoyed getting to see the bands’ arsenal of instruments backstage, as well as some of Frank Hannon’s pedals etc.
I won’t hide the fact that I am a huge Tesla fan, but as far as live concert DVD’s go, this one has to rank close to the top. No Tesla fan should be without this DVD.
“Comin’ Atcha Live! 2008“ track listing:
01. Comin’ Atcha Live

3 Iron Maiden – DVD – Live After Death (2008)
My first choice for the Top Hard Rock DVD of 2008 so far is Iron Maiden’s Live After Death DVD.
In this two DVD set, you get one disc that is a full concert from the 1985 Powerslave tour. This was originally released on VHS several years ago, but I never got a copy of it. This new version, is released in 5.1 Surround Sound. This is the way to listen to Iron Maiden Show!!
The Concert Video is worth the price of admission by itself, but this is a two CD set and you get more.
Disc Two bring you the History of Iron Maiden, Part 2, (Part 1 was on the Early Years disc). You also get the Behind the Iron Curtain Documentary, and Live Footage from the 1985 Rock In Rio show.
All in all, this set is over three hours of Iron Maiden for you to enjoy. You will definitely want to replay these DVD’s over and over again.
Live After Death is a must own DVD release for all Iron Maiden Fans! Watching this DVD Set has me anxious for the 2008 tour. I can’t wait to see Iron Maiden Live again! Until then, I will be watching the Live After Death DVD’s.

1 Twisted Sister – A Twisted Christmas Live DVD (2007)
In 2006, Twisted Sister took the stage at the Starland Ballroom in Sayersville, NJ to a packed house.
A Twisted Christmas captures a great live show by the band, in which Twisted Sister performed several of their big hits, as well as a few tunes off of their 2006 Christmas CD, A Twisted Christmas.
Twisted Sister is one of the few bands from the 80’s era of rock that I never managed to see live, so I thoroughly enjoyed this performance. The band sounds great live, and the concert was a high energy show that the crowd in New Jersey really got into.
Before 2006, Hard Rock fans only had Trans Siberian Orchestra to go to for some harder rocking Christmas tunes. Thank Goodness for Santa Dee and his twisted little elves for bringing this hard rock Christmas DVD.
When you are out spending your hard earned cash on Black Friday, and need something to get you in the mood for Christmas, pick up Twisted Sister’s A Christmas Live DVD, and have yourself a Heavy Metal Christmas!
On a side note, the DVD has some pretty cool extras including the following videos:
I enjoyed this disc, and I think you will to! Go Get it!

All That Remains fans have caught the band live on the Ozzfest tour, have seen their videos on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball, and now have something to look forward to this Tuesday with the band’s new LIVE DVD.
This DVD should keep the momentum of their debut release, “The Fall of Ideals” going strong.
This DVD captures not one, but two live shows from Philadelphia and Baltimore, during the band’s tour in 2007.
As a bonus, you also get all six of All The Remains music videos.: The Air That I Breathe, Not Alone, This Calling, Tattered On My Sleeve, This Darkened Heart and The Deepest Gray plus photos, interviews and some additional bonus material.
This is a very cool collection for All That Remains fans and should not be missed. This DVD hits the stores on Tuesday, October 30th.

0 Sammy Hagar & The Wabos: Livin’ It Up!(2007)
The new Sammy Hagar DVD, Livin’ It Up! Live in St. Louis, catches Sammy and the Wabos live at their sold out date in St. Louis in 2006.
One thing is for sure, if you go to see Sammy Hagar live, you are in for a good time. A Sammy Hagar show is more like a party with 20,000 fans. This DVD captures the party like atmosphere, with excellent sound and video coverage.
Sammy Hagar immediately captivates everyone in his attendance, and his stage performance. I can’t imagine seeing this show live, and being disappointed. I enjoyed this concert on DVD immensely.
The set list is as follows: Mas Tequila, Mexico, There’s Only One Way to Rock, (Bob Dylan) Rainy Day Women, The Girl Gets Around, Rock Candy, I’ll Fall in, Love Again, I’ll Take You There, Sam I Am, Little White Lie, I Can’t Drive 55, Heavy Metal, Good Enough, Summer Nights, Right Now, Finish What You Started, Best of Both Worlds, (The Beastie Boys) Fight for Your Right, and Cabo Wabo.
During the second half of the show, Michael Anthony ala The Other Half, joins Sammy On Stage to do some Van Halen Tunes. Wabo guitarist, Vic Johnson shows plenty of prowess on the six string, as does Sammy Hagar during this show.
The only thing I didn’t care is some of the background vocals by the Wabos, but that was only a minor annoyance. As a whole this is a very good show, and one worth seeing on DVD.
The concert lasts one hour and fifty minutes. This DVD is also packed with Interviews and Music Videos too!
This is a very rent worthy and disc, and for Sammy Hagar Redheads, this is a must own DVD!

0 Twisted Sister: The Video Years DVD (Release Year – 2007)
Jay Jay French was on the Eddie Trunk show last Monday (6/25/07) talking about current Twisted Sister news, and some T.S. history.
He mentioned that when they were requested to Rocklahoma, they would only agree to do the show if they were the Headlining Act. The band got their wish! When Twisted Sister takes the stage to close out the Rocklahoma Music Festival, they wont have any new music to support the show, but they do have a brand new DVD that was released Tuesday (6/26/07).
Twisted Sister, The Video Years is an excellent disc for all 80’s hard rock fans. This disc gives you all of the videos that the band put out over the years, as well as the video, that MTV banned, Be Chrool to your Scuel.
This disc has one of the bands very early performances, (the first in the UK), and well as several live performances, and great interviews.
This disc is a must have for all Twisted Sister fans, and should be essential for all 80’s hard rock fans as well! It is a disc full of great music, and excellent history on one of the biggest hard rock bands in the 80’s.

0 Warrant – Born Again DVD – Delvis Video Diaries
In March of 2007, Warrant released a video companion to their 2006 CD, Born Again.
In case you didn’t know, Born Again is the first CD, featuring former Black ‘N Blue vocalist, Jamie St. James as the new singer of Warrant. The CD, Born Again is a very solid effort by Warrant, and returns them to the sound that made the band famous.
The video is unique in the fact that is has videos for every song off the CD, Born Again. I don’t recall another band doing this before.
The sound on the DVD is perfect, but the videos are a little repetitive and have somewhat amateurish video editing effects.
I did get quite a bit out of watching the behind the scene features on this disc. The band recorded a bunch of footage of the time when they were in the studio recording the tracks for this CD. I thought this part of the DVD was kind of interesting, but not everyone may share my opinion.
There are quite a few funny moments on the DVD. The guys seem to be having a lot of fun.
You can find this DVD for as little as $13.00 in some retailers. The reasonable cost may make this a DVD worth picking up.
Diehard Warrant fans will want to own this. Other fans may not find this disc as appealing. For the fans attending the Rocklahoma music festival that may not have experienced, Jamie St. James as Warrant’s new front man, this is the only way to do it.

0 That One Night – Live in Buenos Aires (2007)
Megadeth’s latest DVD Release That One Night, – Live in Buenos Aires was from a concert filmed live at Obras Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 9, 2005! Megadeth’s lineup at the time were Dave Mustaine on lead guitar and vocals, Glen Drover on Lead Guitar, Shawn Drover on Drums and James MacDonough (from Iced Earth) on bass.
Personally, I thought the track listing was good, but I would have liked a couple more tracks from Countdown to Extinction, but that really isn’t a show stopper.
The crowd energy in this show is amazing to see. I don’t know how many people were in the audience but had to be well in the tens of thousands. The crowd sings along to Dave Mustaine’s guitar parts at times, and it is pretty amazing to behold. I have been to a lot of rock shows, and I have never seen that.
Mustaine’s voice is in perfect form, and the band sounds great. My only gripe is that I kind of got the feeling that the band was somewhat tired during this show. I wasn’t seeing the same kind of energy that I saw when I saw them open for Heaven and Hell recently. Sometimes this is hard to capture on film, but I wouldn’t call this a WOW performance.
Regardless of the band’s energy, the video is crisp and clean, and the sound is damn near studio quality. Personally, I don’t think this is Megadeth’s best performance, but it does whet my appetite to see them live again. I would certainly recommend this DVD to all Megadeth fans out there, but probably isn’t essential for all hard rock fans.
Here is a small taste of what you will see on the DVD That One Night – Live in Buenos Aires:

1 DIO – Holy Diver Live – DVD Review
Holy Diver Live is a DVD of a live concert performed at the tail end of Dio’s Master of the Moon tour in 2005. In this concert, Ronnie has an all star band (most of which might consider a supergroup), featuring Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot) on bass, Doug Aldrich (Lion, Whitesnake) on guitar, Simon Wright (AC/DC) on drums and long time Dio keyboardist, Scott Warren.
In this concert, this band performed the entire Holy Diver disc, as well as other hits from Ronnie James Dio, and a couple of Black Sabbath tunes for good measure. The band is in fine form, and Ronnie James Dio sounds great as always.
This concert is full of awesome guitar solos, kick ass drumming, great vocals and more mano cornuta’s than you will be able to count. You also get some bonus interviews by the whole band, which was cool all by itself.
This is a 2 hour concert for the minimal price of a new CD. This dvd is well worth picking up, especially if you like to watch live rock shows from time to time. If you like the performance in the video below, by all means, pick this up!
