6 2008 New Rock Releases and Reissues (Updated)
I started compiling the following list of New releases for 2008. This may not be a complete list, but so much great new music has arrived in 2008, so far, I though it would be a good idea to keep a running tab of what has come out, and what is on the way. The releases through August have been confirmed. Releases with a question mark have not been confirmed yet. This list will be updated as more news arrives.

11 Metallica Names New Album – Death Magnetic

METALLICA have have revealed the title of their new album – Death Magnetic.
Set for a September release on Warner Bros., Metallica’s still-untitled new album is their first since 2003’s St. Anger and their first with bassist Robert Trujillo, who joined in February of that year.
Death Magnetic is “a stunning, overdue return to the shock and rush of the band’s speed-metal monuments, 1984’s Ride The Lightning and 1986’s Master of Puppets,” according to Rolling Stone.
According to BW&BK sources, the album will be preceded by an eight-minute single which is being described as “a tour de force that features some of their fastest playing ever.” The record is being produced by Rick Rubin (SLAYER, RED HOT CHILI PEPERS) and mixed by Greg Fidelman.

0 Metallica U.S. Tour in October?
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich revealed last night (May 14) during an intimate Los Angeles benefit concert that the band will follow the September release of its new, as-yet-untitled album with a tour in October.
“That was the first show of the tour,” announced Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett, who, along with his bandmates, shredded through a nearly two-hour set with such hits as “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “Fuel,” “Master of Puppets,” “…And Justice for All,” “Enter Sandman,” and “Seek and Destroy,” at Los Angeles’ 2,300-capacity Wiltern Theatre.
The group didn’t reveal any new material during its lengthy set. Nevertheless, “it feels good to play live again,” singer/guitarist James Hetfield told a packed audience. “We haven’t played here in a long time.”
Last’s night concert was pulled together on short notice to help raise funds for the nonprofit Silverlake Conservatory of Music. The organization was co-founded by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, who joined Metallica onstage for “Fight Fire With Fire,” from the band’s 1984 album “Ride the Lightning.”
Money raised from the concert will go toward the Silverlake Conservatory of Music’s programs and operations, along with scholarships for low-income students who can’t afford instruments and music lessons.
Bill White, director of development at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, tells Billboard.com that the idea for the benefit concert came together during a board meeting when Flea offered to ask Metallica’s Ulrich if the band would be interested in doing a benefit show on the school’s behalf. As a result, “We’ll probably raise over $300,000 net on this,” White says. “It’s a gift from Metallica to the school.”
Tickets for the concert went on sale Sunday for $200 apiece, along with a limited amount of VIP tickets that ran $500. Along with its annual Hullabaloo fund-raiser, which last year featured Eddie Vedder and Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music has plans to do more one-off benefit concerts in the future, according to White.
Meanwhile, Metallica will remain on the West Coast this weekend to play Tucson, Ariz.’s KFMA Day (today), KROQ-Los Angeles’ Weenie Roast (May 17), followed by Manchester, Tenn.’s Bonnaroo Music Festival (June 13). No other North American dates were announced at deadline, but the rock act also has a handful of concert and festival appearances in Europe slated for August.
Along with Metallica, last night’s benefit concert featured rock act Scars On Broadway, the new band from System Of A Down guitarist/vocalist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan. As previously reported, Scars on Broadway’s as-yet-untitled debut album is slated for a late summer release.
Here is the set list of last night’s Metallica concert:
“The Ecstasy of Gold”
“Fuel”
“For Whom the Bell Tolls”
“Sanitarium”
“…And Justice For All”
“Sad But True”
“Disposable Heroes”
“One”
“Master of Puppets”
“Battery”
“Last Caress/Green Hell” (Misfits cover)
“No Remorse”
“Enter Sandman”
“Fight Fire with Fire”
“Seek and Destroy”
2 New Jersey’s Lipstick Magazine is Locked and Loaded

FRESH Productions and Marketing is proud to announce that Lance King Productions / Nightmare records (www.nightmare-records.com) has signed a worldwide distribution deal with New Jersey’s latest rock sensation Lipstick Magazine. Coming off of a perfect target round of rave reviews for their highly acclaimed and impressive self-titled debut live album, Lipstick Magazine has recently completed their follow up, full scale rock and roll cd assault entitled “Skin Deep” which is set for release August, 2008.
Additionally, Lipstick Magazine has acquired the ammunition for several rounds to come as evidenced by their distribution deal with Koch International out of New York http://www.kochentertainment.com/intro.htm) and two targeted radio campaigns in support of “Skin Deep” will take the cd across the US through Skateboard Marketing (http://www.skateboardmarketing.com/).
Adding to their audio ammo, Lipstick Magazine will also release “Skin Deep” overseas at the end of 2008 increasing their fan base and marching their sound across all musical borders.
What has been kept high on the list of shooting ranges of firearm rock and roll is the signature sound and stage attack of Lipstick Magazine who never fail to deliver a cartridge holder of power packed tunes and soulful melodies.
Lead Singer, Toni Loyas is a refreshing voice on the rock scene able to deliver everything from a melodious song to a hard rock anthem with spot on precision. For those that miss the days of MSG or DeGarmo-esque solos, you’ll find comfort in the guitar work of Damon Marks and Nat Gardiner. Their sound is a whiskey-smooth, velvety, dual slinger journey that moves past tablature and recalls 80’s metal guitar Gods in their glory. Keyboardist David Loyas channels a bit of Jim Steinman in his compositions and adds an edge to the band’s sound. Marc Rabin on Bass and Russell K on drums are consistently in the pocket together and prove that unqualified rhythm will keep Lipstick Magazine on the shooting range of firearm rock and roll.
Lipstick Magazine will be performing at Rocklahoma 2008 on Saturday July 12th.
1 Rush Promises Surprises On Summer Tour

Rush fans can expect some different songs and “surprises” when the Canadian trio hits the road on April 11 — but guitarist Alex Lifeson says, “I’m gonna keep those a secret until then, I think.”Lifeson tells Billboard.com that since the next segment of Rush’s Snakes & Arrows World Tour — which kicks off in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and runs through July 20 — visits a number of cities the group hasn’t played in quite some time, “we thought we should maybe revisit some older songs we’re not playing currently or haven’t been in the last little while. So we changed out a few songs in the set. We’re gonna keep it loose and maybe kind of bounce back and forth.”
Lifeson says the group frequently gets fan requests for specific material. “We see ‘Camera Eye’ come up quite often, ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ and some of the longer songs like that from our mid-period,” he says. Last year’s Snakes & Ladders dates featured rarities such as “Circumstances” and “Entre Nous,” which Rush has never performed live, and are captured on the upcoming “Snakes & Arrows Live,” due April 15.
Lifeson says Rush is also starting to tuck into the video material from the same show last October at Ahoy Rotterdam arena in the Netherlands for a DVD the guitarist says will be out in the late summer or early fall.
“We shot it in HD, and I hear it looks really dramatic,” says Lifeson, who supervised the stereo mix for the CD. The group decided to put the CD out first, he says, because “we wanted to kind of bridge the two halves of the tour with a release so there’s something there, and then we’ll follow up with the live DVD.”
Lifeson says that he and bandmates Geddy Lee and Neil Peart are also thinking a bit about Rush’s next studio album — mostly likely with “Snakes & Arrows” co-producer Nick Raskulinecz — but suspects that will come later rather than sooner.
“I’m guessing that we’re probably going to take a little bit of the break at the end of this tour,” says Lifeson, who’s been updating his Web site with a number of new features he hopes to roll out soon. “I don’t see us really doing much in the way of any new material probably until the spring of next year, and then we’ll see where we go. We generally prefer to just start on that first day and sit down and start jamming; it’s such an exciting moment, and it becomes it’s own living thing. We seem to be much more balanced and a lot happier working that way.”

6 Cinder Road and Tesla – Cincinnati, Ohio Concert Review
Tesla and Cinder Road returned to Cincinnati, Ohio’s Bogarts on Sunday Night.
Cinder Road took the stage shortly after 8 P.M. and put on one great high energy set. The first Cinder Road tune I’m So Sorry(in the video below) was complete
Guitarmageddon! This was a hell of a tune to open the show with, and got the crowd completely pumped up. The band did several of their songs off of their
album Superhuman, as well as a blistering good cover of Billy Idol’s Rebel Yell and Queen’s We Will Rock You. This is the first time I have ever seen Cinder Road live, and I was pretty impressed with their performance.
Tesla took the stage at roughly 9:15 P.M. The sold out
crowd swelled to a point where everyone was shoulder to shoulder. Tesla blazed through Cummin’ Atcha Live, and the crowd was completely fired up. This set the mood for the whole rest of the show. Jeff Keith has been sick for a few weeks now (including tonight), but you would have never known it from the sound of his voice. The band performed several cuts off all of their albums with Mechanical Resonance, and the Real to Reel albums, probably having the most tunes in their set. The band also introduced a brand new, and very cool song, Private Ledbetter (in the video below).
All night long the band was on fire. Frank Hannon and Dave Rude were trading off lead guitar licks and never sounded better. Troy Luccketta and Brian Wheat were excellent and still prove to be one of the better rhythm sections in rock today.
Once again, Tesla has never disappointed me with their live performance. They were great Sunday night! The new song has me excited about the new album they are working on. I am glad to see my favorite band still able to sell out shows in 2008. I can’t wait for Tesla to play live in Cincinnati again. I may have to get my next fix at Rocklahoma 2008!

1 Warrant Press Release!

THEY’RE BAAAACK!!!
POP METAL KINGPINS WARRANT REUNITE FOR REPEAT PERFORMANCE, KICKING OFF CO-HEADLINING DEBUT AT 2008 ROCKLAHOMA FESTIVAL WITH ORIGINAL LINE-UP
…”CHERRY PIE” ANYONE?
Multi-platinum selling rock band WARRANT, best known for classic MTV staples’ “Cherry Pie,” “Heaven,” and rock anthem “The Down Boys” will co-headline the 2008 Rocklahoma Festival – marking the reunion of its original line-up including Jani Lane (vocals); Joey Allen (lead guitar); Jerry Dixon (bass); Erik Turner (Guitar) and Steven Sweet (drums) — for the first time in 14 years. Warrant will co-headline Rocklahoma with Cinderella, it was announced by XM’s Boneyard/VH1 Classic host, Eddie Trunk, at a press conference taking place at the world famous Whisky A-Go Go. Rocklahoma is a popular four-day music festival taking place July 10-13 in Pryor, OK, which attracts an impressive worldwide audience and big ticket sales. More than 80 bands will be performing on three giant stages with an expected attendance of more than 60,000 rock fans from all 50 states, every Province in Canada and every country in Europe. This phenomenon was covered in Rolling Stone’s year-end issue with an in-depth seven page spread.
Comments Warrant: “We are stoked to be back together after 14 years! The best part will be playing live again for all the fans that never got to experience the originalWarrant party band from Hollywood, CA! We also can’t wait to play for all the fans who have waited so long for this reunion. Cheers – and here we go again!
Warrant will hit the road with Cinderella this summer in July immediately following Rocklahoma and also plan to release a live performance DVD later this summer. An intimate Sunset Strip club date is also expected to take place this year for loyal fans. It’s been nearly 20 years and eight albums later, but the buzz surrounding Warrant remains. The band has seen many changes since their first taste of success in the late 80s/early 90s, but have always remained a key cog in the ever-changing rock landscape. Warrant has endured death, record label turnover, the loss of band members and close friends, but these hardships have only added fuel to their fire. Warrant is back.
Rocklahoma is the world’s largest rock festival of its type featuring notable bands from the 80’s and early 90’s. Additional acts confirmed for the festival include LA Guns, Enuf Z Nuff, Beautiful Creatures, Night Ranger, XYZ, Pretty Boy Floyd, Vain, Lynch Mob, Bret Michaels, House of Lords, Jet Boy, Triumph, Kingdom Come and Tesla among others.

11 Lynch Mob To Tour With Cinderella & Warrant This Summer

Former DOKKEN bassist Jeff Pilson has revealed to Ray Miller of Rock Biographer that the reactivated LYNCH MOB — featuring guitarist George Lynch (ex-DOKKEN) and vocalist Oni Logan alongside legendary drummer Tommy Aldridge (OZZY OSBOURNE, TED NUGENT, WHITESNAKE) and bassist Marco Mendoza (WHITESNAKE, THIN LIZZY) — will take part in this summer’s CINDERELLA/WARRANT U.S. tour. “The LYNCH MOB is going out [on tour] by the way,” Pilson said in an interview that was conducted last week. “They’re going out this summer. It’s going to be really cool because it is George and Oni as well as Tommy Aldridge and Marco Mendoza…it’s just gonna be a great band…I mean it is going to be phenomenal. In fact, I’m excited to see it.”
When asked if there was any truth to the rumor that DOKKEN was in talks to tour with CINDERELLA (PICTURED BELOW) and WARRANT this summer, Pilson said, “It was going to be DOKKEN, at least that is what they were talking about. But when that fell apart, George secured it for the LYNCH MOB.”
Birmingham, Alabama-based hard rockers LYNAM are rumored to have secured the opening slot on the CINDERELLA/WARRANT tour, which is scheduled to launch in July. The package is expected to make a stop at the Rock Fest in Cadott, Wisconsin on July 17. Additional dates will be announced soon.

Unwritten Law To Film Hollywood, CA Show For Upcoming DVD Release

Band’s Upcoming Sixth Studio Album Due For Release
In Late 2008 Through Suburban Noize
***
Southern California Rock Outfit Has Battled Countless Record Labels, Survived Bomb Attacks And Violent Altercations With Band Members To Produce Five Studio Albums, Five Top Twenty Singles And Tours With Sum 41, Hawthorne Heights and Punk Legends The Sex Pistols
Southern California rockers Unwritten Law will be filming their upcoming March 7th, 2008 performance at the Key Club in Hollywood, CA for an upcoming live DVD release later this year through Suburban Noize Records.
“2008 is looking to be an exciting new year for us boys in Unwritten Law. We look forward to playing and filming our first show of the New Year for our incredibly good looking and devout fans,” says Unwritten Law bassist PK. “This will be our first performance DVD since the ‘Music in High Places” video. What will make this DVD so great is that it will be our first performance DVD the way we play best; with our guitars plugged into our amps and cranked to as loud as they can go! We look forward to rockin’ your brains out March 7th at the Key Club, so remember to make yourselves pretty for the shoot and we’ll see you dirtbags there.”
Emerging from Southern California’s skate/snowboard punk scene in the early 1990s, Unwritten Law has been crafting some of the most infectious pop-punk for over a decade. After releasing series of independent releases that saw them crisscrossing the country with everyone from Sum 41, Hawthorne Heights and opening for punk legends the Sex Pistols, Unwritten Law garnered the mainstream attention they so richly deserved with the release of their fourth album “Elva”, which sold in excess of 400,000 copies. The album produced the top Modern Rock singles “Up All Night”, “Rest of My Life” and the #1 Top 20 single “Seein Red”. 2003 saw the group strip down for the acoustic live record “Music in High Places”, while the group’s 2005 release “Here’s to The Morning” debuted on the Billboard Charts Top 200 at #51.
Unwritten Law has consistently triumphed over adversity and found strength within their music. The group has released five albums on five different record labels and has sold over a million units. The group’s success continues to grow and thrive, despite a record business that continues to spiral downward. Meanwhile the group’s out of control antics have continuously kept the group’s name in press headlines.
In late 2007 the group officially signed with Suburban Noize Records for the release of their currently untitled sixth studio album. The group’s upcoming Suburban Noize debut will see release through the label in late 2008.
“This will be our first release on yet another new label for us, but with a label with whom we have had a long standing history with, the mighty Suburban Noize,” says an excited PK. “We are proud and stoked to have come full circle and to join the Suburban Noize family and look forward to an exciting year.”

The band Strikeforce has been confirmed along with more rumored acts including: Keel, Harraz, Sunday night headliner “Motley Crue“, Bret Michaels, Warrant, L.A. Guns (Paul Black), Jackyl, Tora Tora, Krokus, Black N Blue, Vixen, Grim Reaper, Asphalt Valentine, Triumph and White Lion!
The official announcement is Tuesday March 4th, at 4 P.M. Stay Tuned!!
14 MÖTLEY CRÜE World Tour Will Kick Off July 4
MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee has revealed that the band’s world tour will kick off on July 4. The trek is expected to coincide with the release of the group’s ninth studio album, titled “The Dirt”, which is tentatively due on July 8. A yet-to-be-named single will arrive at radio stations on May 7.
The record is based on the band’s 2001 memoir of the same name and will be its first all-new studio effort since 2000’s “New Tattoo”. 1997’s “Generation Swine” was the last to feature the group’s original lineup, which reunited for a successful world tour in 2005.
Although it was reported last fall that drummer Tommy Lee had again quit the CRÜE over legal issues, he and the group have apparently reconciled.
“Nope! I never quit! Silly rumors! We’re all together!” Tommy wrote in a February 25, 2008 online posting. “We’re goin’ on a world tour starting July 4th!!”
Bassist Nikki Sixx wrote in a recent online update, “10 songs done for the new CRÜE album so far, I’m very proud of the songs. I think we’re onto some of the better songs we’ve had in years…Time will tell, of course. A couple of song titles on the CRÜE album are called ‘A Scar On Hollywood Boulevard’ and ‘The Saints Of Los Angeles’… The chemistry in the studio as we’re writing is unbelievable.”
The CRÜE recently denied a post at Robin Leach’s Las Vegas gossip blog which suggested that the band had signed a three-album, three-tour deal with Live Nation for $100 million. Although the source of the rumor was reportedly singer Vince Neil, bassist Nikki Sixx said in a statement, “MÖTLEY CRÜE has not signed any deals to tour or record whatsoever. Any information to the contrary is 100 percent incorrect.”
1 An Unexpected Pairing…..Ripper Owens and….
Former JUDAS PRIEST/ICED EARTH singer Tim “Ripper” Owens has now officially joined YNGWIE MALMSTEEN’s band. The legendary Swedish guitarist announced the news to the Guitar World staff today when he came to the magazine’s New York headquarters for an exclusive interview and photo shoot.
Malmsteen and Owens are hard at work on a new CD, which is currently scheduled for a July release.
Owens and Malmsteen previously collaborated on a cover of OZZY OSBOURNE’s “Mr. Crowley”, which appeared on the “Flying High Again: The World’s Greatest Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne”, released in March 2006 via Magick Records.

Tony Iommi will then travel to LA to reunite with Ronnie, Geezer and Vinny to continue working on the record during April and May.
Then, Ronnie will take a break during the summer to play a few special up close and personal dates for the Dio fans.
The following dates have been scheduled so far:
| DIO Summer 2008 | |||
| Date | Location | Venue | Support |
| 5/27/2008 | Birmingham, UK | Academy | Girlschool |
| 5/28/2008 | London, UK | Astoria | Girlschool |

No U.S. dates scheduled sadly, but the promise of new Sabbath tunes is always a good thing!
10 New Motley Crue Record in July?!

The Pulse of Radio reports that MÖTLEY CRÜE has set a July 8 release date for its ninth studio album, titled “The Dirt”, according to sources close to the band.

0 More Britny Fox News!

BRITNY FOX has retained the new management and booking services of Lane Productions and has inked a new deal with the independent label CHAVIS RECORDS. Through these partnerships the team was able to do what was necessary and in the best interest of Billy Childs. There is nothing being handed to BRITNY FOX on a “silver platter”, “no rebirth”, no skyrocketing BRITNY FOX “back in the limelight”, “no robbing or deceiving anyone of anything”, and “no infringement upon anyones anything”. BRITNY FOX is simply moving forward as a band playing the songs BRITNY FOX is widely known for, coupled with a few that we’re not hits but represent what BRITNY FOX was, is and will continue to be.
BRITNY FOX is currently in rehearsals with new vocalist Jamie Fletcher for the upcoming 2008 tour which kicks off on March 21, 2008. Jamie was selected over several candidates. His stage presence, appeal and resume suited the position very well, but being a solid vocalist that can serve up the “Dizzy” Dean Davidson and Tommy Paris material just like it should be was the deciding factor. The team felt that it was critical to not only deliver the material as close to the original as possible, but also not to deviate from the BRITNY FOX sound that it is known for.
“I personally spoke with Tommy Paris and asked him to give it another go. Tommy has moved on and gave his blessing and best wishes. No ugliness, no negativity just simply pursuing other interests at this time. With respect to my involvement, Billy had an idea and a vision that he wanted to achieve. We had several discussions with new management and put all the cards on the table. We came up with a game plan and an agreement that was best suited for all of the parties involved. I am happy to be involved and apart of the BRITNY FOX team. – Bill Chavis – CEO/President CHAVIS RECORDS
Immediate plans for BRITNY FOX are to hit the road for the summer touring season and begin writing new material for a 2009 release. This gives the band time to gel and really focus on rebuilding, touring and reconnecting with their fans.
“I want to personally thank each and everyone who stood by me and looked out for this project. I also want to thank all of the fans and friends who emailed me and responded positively to all the negative stuff being spit out”. – Billy Childs
Expect more information and the latest updates on BRITNY FOX in the coming weeks. All of the current and scheduled tour dates can be found here. For more information visit http://www.chavisrecords.net, http://www.myspacecom/chavisrecords and http://www.myspace.com/britnyfoxband.

The “SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME — WORLD TOUR 08” was inspired by Maiden’s recently released DVD, LIVE AFTER DEATH (New Door Records/Ume). Filmed and recorded over four spectacular nights at Long Beach Arena on the “Powerslave Tour” in 1985, this has long been a benchmark for rock concert videos and live albums, and the CD remains one of the biggest-selling live albums ever with sales in excess of six million worldwide. With the video having been largely unavailable for many years, the fan’s massive interest in this legendary concert continues to this day with the DVD debuting at No. 1 on charts around the world (including The UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark and Finland), as well as No 2 on the Billboard USA Chart and in Canada.

This tour revisits the band’s history by focusing almost entirely on their classic 80’s period in both choice of songs played and the stage set, which is based around the legendary Egyptian Production of that ‘Powerslave Tour’ as portrayed on the Live After Death DVD. This will arguably be the most elaborate and spectacular show the band have ever presented. Furthermore the band intends to bring along for this summer leg of the tour the colossal mummy of Eddie, as featured on the Live After Death DVD, along with various other elements of the show that would not fit on their 757 on the first leg of this tour, which included the shows at the Forum and Izod Centre. Sadly no jumbo has a door big enough to fit in such a massive and imposing monster!!!
Says vocalist Bruce Dickinson ; “We are all greatly looking forward to getting back to see our fans in places like Texas, the South West and Seattle where we haven’t played for quite some time. And for this leg we will be able to bring along all Eddie’s toys which we couldn’t get on our plane during the first leg. We are all having a great time on this tour and really can’t believe the excitement it is creating round the world and the huge numbers of people who are turning out to see us. It makes for a really very exciting time for all of us, fans and band alike”

19 Lita Ford at Rocklahoma?
Last night on Eddie Trunk Live, a listener called in and asked Eddie Trunk what Lita Ford is up to these days.
He said that she is about to play live for the first time in fifteen years at Rock…….. and then he caught himself.
Is the cat out of the bag?
Could this mean Lita Ford will be at Rocklahoma? I guess we will find out for sure when the Rocklahoma Press Conference happens in March.
This is the first time I have heard any mention of this one, but I am betting this one is more than likely to happen.
2 Page Wants Led Zepplin Tour
TOKYO – Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page said Monday he was ready to take the iconic band on a world tour after burning up the stage at last month’s reunion concert in London. But it probably won’t be before September.
“The amount of work we put into O2 was what you would normally put into a world tour anyway,” Page, 64, said of the intense rehearsing the band did for the Dec. 10 concert at London’s O2 Arena.
The band’s three surviving members – Page, singer Robert Plant and bassist-keyboardist John Paul Jones – were joined at the sold-out benefit show by the late John Bonham’s son Jason on drums.
Page, who was in Japan to promote the new Zeppelin release, “Mothership,” said the two-hour-plus concert was proof that Led Zeppelin can still perform at its best.
He said the band, which formed in 1968, was ready musically to get back together and take it out on a wider run, but it was not clear when it would go on tour as the singer had other plans.
“Robert Plant has a parallel project and he is busy with that until September,” Page said.
Plant and bluegrass star Alison Krauss will begin their world tour with a run of shows in the southern U.S. this spring. The two released an album in October called “Raising Sand” that debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard chart in the U.S. The duo will tour Europe in May before returning for North American shows still to be announced for June and July.
Page said the band set their standards very high before agreeing to do the reunion, their first in 20 years. Led Zeppelin broke up in 1980 after the elder Bonham’s death.
Page said they rehearsed for weeks, apprehensive that the cohesion they had in the 1970s when they were at their peak might be hard to rediscover.
“We wanted people who might not have even been alive in 1980 when we finished to understand what we were,” he said.
Page said all went well until he broke a finger in three places, forcing the band to postpone the show for several weeks.
“But we did the show, and it was great,” he said. “It was instant in terms of chemistry.”
