2 Art of Dying Releases “Fanpic Video” for Acoustic Version of “Sorry”

Art of Dying have just released a new video for “Sorry – acoustic.” Inspired by Art of Dying’s fans’ reaction to the original release of “Sorry,” the acoustic video incorporates “fanpics” with the new version of the song.
“Recently we had the chance to get into the studio with producer Dan Donegan from Disturbed to lay down an acoustic version of ‘Sorry.’ We’ve been so touched by all of the ‘Sorry profile pics’ over the last few months that we decided to make a video for the acoustic version of the song featuring our biggest fans.” explains lead singer, Jonny Hetherington, of the release. “Thanks for making this video possible, we couldn’t have done it without you!”
“Sorry” is the third single off the band’s major label debut, Vices and Virtues and is currently Top 15 on the Active Rock chart.
Art of Dying has just returned from the road in support of headliners, Shinedown on this year’s Avalanche Tour. The band will be playing a handful of music festivals this summer. A full list of dates is below.

0 Record Store Day is Saturday, April 21st! Warner Brothers Has Some Cool Hard Rock Releases Coming Your Way!

RECORD STORE DAY is nearly here! Saturday, April 21st Warner Bros. Records will have a special series of vinyl albums and singles available in honor of the 5th annual Record Store Day – a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally. Warner Bros. Records is proud to be an official sponsor of Record Store Day.
Among the most anticipated releases this weekend includes a pair of highly sought-after 7″ vinyl limited edition pressings: Mastodon / Feist split 7″, otherwise referred to as FEISTODON and the Mastodon / Flaming Lips Side By Side 2012 series 7″ single. The members of Mastodon, currently in the middle of an extensive US tour, are avid participants of Record Store Day and wanted fans to know: “Mastodon are proud to uphold their long-standing commitment to supporting Independent Record stores on Record Store Day. The vinyl album and single format remains an important part of our culture and heritage as recording artists and we hope you’ll enjoy our interpretations of these songs by artists we admire and respect.”
Once again, these very special releases are as follows:
Disturbed: The Collection (Vinyl Album Box Set)
We are proud to announce the definitive Disturbed vinyl box-set edition, THE COLLECTION. A five-album, six-disc offering of the band’s complete studio album discography featuring The Sickness (2000), Believe (2002), Ten Thousand Fists (2005), Indestructible (2008), and Asylum (2010). A career retrospective spanning ten years and 18 Billboard Top 100 hits of sophisticated and life-altering heavy music. For this box set, each album has been carefully mastered and pressed on 140-gram vinyl for the very best in audio quality. Each album has been meticulously showcased in a stunning art presentation that is unique and exclusive to this release. This is a limited edition box of only 2500 units worldwide.
Fleetwood Mac: Fleetwood Mac (Deluxe and Standard vinyl editions)
What can be said about this classic album that has not been said before? Originally released in 1975 and representing not only a rebirth of the band, with the addition of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, but really a second debut for a group firmly rooted in the rock genre, now reinventing themselves into a pop rock force in a way that few other artists can lay claim to. The album includes the iconic songs “Rhiannon,” “Say You Love Me,” and “Over My Head.” Cut for vinyl at Bernie Grundman Mastering from the original analog tapes and pressed in both 33 rpm and 45 rpm for the very best in audio presentation. A collectible and definitive version for any generation.
Mastodon / Feist “A Commotion”/ “Black Tongue” (7″ vinyl single)
In conjunction with Cherrytree/Interscope Records- A very exclusive and highly anticipated RSD pressing features Mastodon covering the Feist song “A Commotion,” (from her album Metals) while Feist covers Mastodon’s “Black Tongue.” A unique and highly buzzed-about Record Store Day prize.
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Stadium Arcadium (Deluxe 180 Gram vinyl Box Set)
On April 14, 2012, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and to commemorate this historic event, this classic Deluxe box set of the band’s first number one album will be specially priced for Record Store Day. The Deluxe package was mastered for vinyl by Steve Hoffman and includes two 16-page booklets – “Jupiter” and “Mars.” The Red Hot Chili Peppers won four Grammy® Awards for Stadium Arcadium including: Best Rock Album, Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package in addition to Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group for their chart-topping, record-breaking single “Dani California.”
Metallica: Beyond Magnetic (12″ color vinyl EP)
Beyond Magnetic consists of four outtakes from the 2008 Death Magnetic sessions and is available for the first time on silver vinyl just for RSD. A potent and exceptionally well-produced example of Metallica’s most recent work, which can hold its own with anything within their vast heavy music cannon. Previously unreleased on vinyl and includes a limited edition Metallica sticker.
T-Rex: The Electric Warrior Singles Box: (Six 7″ vinyl singles)
This RSD exclusive comes housed in a clamshell-box featuring the entire album, plus the non-album b-side “Raw Ramp,” spread across six singles. When combined, the six picture sleeves form an image of T. Rex founder Marc Bolan in his prime. Chris Bellman used the original analog masters to cut each disc at Bernie Grundman Mastering.
Misfits: Walk Among Us (Color vinyl album – 3 different colors)
Rhino will also offer three colored-vinyl versions of the Misfits’ WALK AMONG US to mark the 30-year anniversary of the band’s 1982 full-length debut. It is a faithful reproduction of the original with music cut from the original analog masters and packaging that duplicates details down to the printed inner sleeve. The album will be pressed on red (1,250 pieces), blue (1,250 pieces) and clear (500) vinyl. Color variations will be distributed randomly. There will also be a purple vinyl pressing released internationally that will be limited to 1,500 copies.
Side by Side 2012 Series:
A continuation of the well-received Warner Bros Records “Side by Side” series, which was initially introduced in 2011. All are exclusive for Record Store Day on uniquely colored and extremely limited edition 7″ vinyl singles, featuring Warner artists covering other historic and personally influential iconic artists. This year’s series includes:
The Flaming Lips / Mastodon: “A Spoonful Weighs A Ton” (7″ baby pink vinyl single)
The mighty Mastodon faithfully covers the Lips classic “Spoonful Weighs a Ton,” from The Soft Bulletin album. Ferociously beautiful!

The United States Congress created the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to lead a nationwide effort to remember America’s fallen firefighters. Since 1992, the tax-exempt, nonprofit foundation has developed and expanded programs to honor our fallen fire heroes and assist their families and coworkers. Their mission is to honor and remember America’s fallen fire heroes and to provide resources to assist their survivors in rebuilding their lives. They offer support programs for survivors, award scholarships to fire service survivors, help departments deal with line-of-duty deaths, and work to prevent line-of-duty deaths. www.firehero.org
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is dedicated to honoring all of America’s law enforcement heroes–those who continue to serve and protect and those who have died in the line of duty, including the officers who lost their lives on September 11th. That mission is accomplished through the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC, as well as programs such as Officer of the Month, Officer Roll Call and others. Today in the United States, some 900,000 law enforcement officers put their lives on the line for the safety and protection of others. This marks the second year that the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival has joined forces with Child Find of America. “We’re incredibly honored that the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival is continuing their partnership with Child Find of America in 2011,” said Mark Delluomo, Director of Operations, Child Find of America, Inc. “Last year’s tour promoted safety and awareness as well as raising over $40,000 which went directly to program costs. All of us at Child Find are very grateful to the producers, bands and fans who so generously contributed. We’re also excited that UPROAR has given us another opportunity to let thousands of rock fans know more about us through their website, programs and press releases. Traffic to Child Find’s website and Facebook cause page spiked over the course of the tour and continues to be vigorous. Many people still don’t realize Child Find not only investigates and resolves cases, but also has programs that work to promote safety and prevent abductions. For example, we’re really proud of the Parent Help and Parent Help for Military Families programs which are designed to help dads and moms parenting apart to problem-solve their challenges – including such issues as visitation, custody and child support. This kind of publicity can change all that.”

0 Art of Dying – S/T (2006)
In January 2007 Classic Rock Magazine hand picked Art of Dying as one of the Top 15 Bands To Watch worldwide. CRM’s recommendation did not fall on deaf ears.
The band has been out on the road with may of today’s biggest hard rock acts including Seether, Saliva, Hinder and Papa Roach. The band is opening up for Disturbed’s 2008. I saw them for the first time last Wednesday night, but has only gotten to know a couple of their songs prior to that show.
Art of Dying is a modern rock band, featuring the awesome vocals of Tony Hetherington. At times Hetherington’s vocals can be velvety smooth, and other other times have a rough edge that drives the harder tunes.
There are several good cuts on this disc including Get Through This, Completely, Inside It’s Raining and Fits of Clarity. Several U.S. stations have picked up the song Get Through This. This song has the potential to be a monster hit for Art of Dying.
The only drawback I can see with AOD, is that their sound is somewhat derivative of the modern hard rock acts of today. Their sound is not original, and as a result, they may get lost amongst the more popular artists out there.
To their credit, the five gentleman making up Art of Dying have crafted a fine hard rock disc, that will be getting a lot of spins from me now. I like this disc, and think a bunch of you will too. If you like bands like Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, or Daughtry, definitely look into Art of Dying. Their CD is not available in the U.S. except through online retailers like See of Sound.com.
Check out Art of Dying on their myspace page!

1 Disturbed Cincinnati Concert Review

Disturbed brought their Indestructible tour to Cincinnati, Ohio’s Bogart’s, Wednesday night.
With three platinum and two number one albums under their belt, Disturbed proves to have quite a large fanbase in the Queen City, as this show was sold out.
Disturbed has brought along two supporting acts on this bill, Art of Dying and Five Finger Death Punch.
Canada’s Art of Dying took the stage at 7:30 P.M. Their set list included the songs, Get Through This, You Don’t Know Me, Completely, and a cool cover of Alice in Chains’, Them Bones. Singer Jonny Hetherington has a pretty good rock voice, and as a whole, the entire band was pretty solid. The large crowd at Bogart’s seemed to like the band pretty well, even though most people were hearing their music for the very first time. Disturbed’s Dan Donegan is a fan of AOD, and asked the band to join this tour. They aren’t as hard as Disturbed, or Five Finger Death Punch, but they did a pretty good job warming up the crowd. Those of you who didn’t get to pick up their CD at this show, can find it at SeeofSound.com.
Five Finger Death Punch took the stage next, and proceeded to turn up the intensity in this elbow to elbow crowd. Five Finger Death Punch has a sound that wavers in and out of thrash metal and hardcore. It is aggressive, high speed, chest thumping music with a killer groove. At first I wondered how Five Finger Death Punch got on this bill. After seeing them live, I realized that they were the perfect band to open up for Disturbed. I was extremely impressed with the musicianship in this band. Zoltan Bathory and Darrell Roberts are one of the better guitar tandems in heavy metal today. They really got the crown going with their short set. No only did singer Ivan Moody electrify the crowd with his performance, but he instigated the first mosh pit of the night. His abrasive vocals take some getting used to, but it seems to work with Five Finger Death Punches’s style of metal.
Some of the tunes played by FFDP were White Knuckles, Death Before Dishonor, The Bleeding, and a cool but heavy cover of the song, Bad Company.
After Five Finger Death Punch’s powerful set, the crowd was supercharged while waiting for Disturbed to take the stage.
Disturbed took the stage about 9:30 P.M. This is the first time that I have seen Disturbed live, so I was not sure what to expect. They immediately took advantage of the electrified crowd, and continued to push us even further. David Draiman proves to be a very charismatic frontman, and is better live than on Disturbed’s studio material. Dan Donegan surprised me with his guitar wizardry. He is one hell of a player. By the time Disturbed broke into their second song, the crowd was in complete mayhem. More crowd surfing, and a second mosh pit broke out, as Disturbed blasted through their groove laden metal.
The Disturbed set included their songs (not in order), Down With the Sickness, Stupify, Stricken, Land of Confusion, Voices, The Game, Deify, as well as their latest hit, a new song off of their new album, Indestructible, called Inside the Fire.
I have been to countless live shows, but I don’t recall any over the last few years where so many people were fired up and enjoying the music, as much as this concert. During Disturbed’s set it was virtually impossible to take any pictures, as there was a massive amount of crowd surfing, fist pumping, and whole bunch of jumping taking place. Disturbed was excellent live, and will be a band I will be seeing again in the future.
Be sure to pick up a copy of their new CD, Indestructible on June 3rd.
The following are the videos taken at the show. Enjoy!
