Swedish rockers BADMOUTH have just released their self-titled debut album through indie label Romulus X Records.
Forged in the furnace of the European rock scene, BADMOUTH has captured the attention of fans around the world, and the eye of industry pros even before the release of their first album. The guys wanted to write rock tunes that stood out from the rest, drawing on the classic rock roots of bands like Dokken, AC/DC, Guns and Roses and Aerosmith, that have been lost in the drone of today´s rock music.
Tom, Chris, Randy, Mike and Rick realized that their job didn´t end with writing their music, it had to be recorded and produced by the right people. Their self-titled debut album was produced at Fortrocks Studio in California by the renowned producer Paul Sabu. The end result? An album that hooks rock and roll junkies with an addictive mix of driving beats, rich vocals and tons of attitude.

Thursday Night, December 20th, I received passes for the WEBN Frog & Pony show (Thanks Geo!). This was an invite only, X-Mas bash by Cincinnati’s biggest rock stations. The event had it all….cheap beer, free food, horse racing, and rock and roll, courtesy of a local band, Livid, and Detroit’s UGLY.
I saw UGLY for the first time labor day weekend, when they opened up for that botched Operator show. They saved the day then, and I wasn’t about to miss these guys when they were playing so close to home.
The band took the stage around 9:30 P.M. and played several of the songs off of their new CD, including 24 Hours, Pusher, Friday Night, Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll, and a killer cover of Van Halen’s Unchained.
It was a short, but very tight set by UGLY. The small crowd that stayed to see the show, got to see one hellaciously good, free concert.
UGLY is a killer rock and roll band, that is all about the music, and not about the image. This is a band that I am quite happy to have discovered in 2007! I look forward to catching them live again in 2008!
It was a great night of rock at Turfway Park, in Florence, KY, and a hell of a way to start the holidays!
If you haven’t picked up a copy of the disc, by UGLY yet, I highly recommend that you grab a copy. You can get it at the Rock Ridge Music Store, at this link!
You can view the videos I took at the concert below!
For more information on UGLY, check out their myspace page here.
Quite a few fans are upset over the sound of Kittie’s new song, Funeral For Yesterday.
Kittie is a metal band that usually enlists the screaming of singer Morgan Lander. On this album, she uses her pure singing voice, as well as some metalcore like screams.
Which one do you prefer?
Watch the video and let us know what you think!
Did you watch the show Rockstar Supernova on CBS? Remember singer Phil Ritchie?
He came on the show to gain some exposure for his band, Lennex, and met his demise for the same reason. For whatever reason, I didn’t care for him on the show very much.
I am glad that I happened to stumble upon his band again. Ritchie’s band Lennex, a five piece band from Maryland has a sound worth checking out.
The video below is for the Lennex song, A Lesser None.
Lennex has two CD’s under their belt, Part Math, Part Euphoria and For The Sake Of Simplicity . They have recently released a new song, Thank You & Goodbye on their myspace page, and are hard at work on album #3. Check them out!
In addition to talking about how the band’s personal drama helped create their latest CD – “Blood Stained Love Story”, he also talked about living the rock star life to the fullest, how Nikki Sixx helped him with his personal demons, and he answers the burning question – Boxers or Commando!
It is a really cool, and funny interview, that you hard rockers need to take the time out to listen to.
Thanks to Tori, for the heads up on the awesome Interview!
