0 BOSTON RELEASES CHRISTMAS DIGITAL SINGLE “GOD REST YE METAL GENTLEMEN” ON ITUNES TODAY
Multi-platinum band BOSTON is celebrating the holiday season with the release of a rocking twist on a Christmas classic titled “God Rest Ye Metal Gentlemen.” This festive song, produced by BOSTON mastermind Tom Scholz, is available today on iTunes at http://smarturl.it/BostonGodRestYe and features Kimberley Dahme on bass and lead vocal, Gary Pihl and Scholz on vocals and guitars, along with Tom Hambridge on drums. Scholz said about the song, “This was my chance to BOSTON-ize one of my favorite Christmas carols. I had so much fun with this one, I think I’ll have to try a few more.”
BOSTON is currently conquering the airwaves as “Heaven On Earth,“ the lead single from the newly released Life, Love & Hope, climbs Mediabase’s Classic Rock chart. Written and produced by Scholz, “Heaven On Earth” features David Victor on vocals with special guest Louis St. August.
More than a decade in the making, the highly anticipated new album Life, Love & Hope was released on December 3 in the U.S. and Canada and is available now for purchase at Amazon and iTunes. The collection of brand new tracks, recorded at Scholz’s very own Hideaway Studio II, was produced, arranged, and engineered by Scholz and is BOSTON’s first release since 2002’s Corporate America. In addition to Brad Delp and Victor, current BOSTON singer Tommy DeCarlo, Kimberley Dahme and Scholz himself, contribute vocals on the new album. Diverse yet cohesive, the long-awaited album has something for everyone and will fulfill the expectations of existing fans, while exposing a new generation to one of rock and roll’s great acts. Albums purchased at Best Buy will contain a bonus track titled “Te Quiero Mia.”

On December 6th, BOSTON’s latest studio album, Life, Love & Hope will be released in Europe on Frontiers Records. 2 Michael Sweet Departs Legendary Rock Band BOSTON to Devote Full Attention to His Longstanding Role as Frontman of Re-emerging Rock Band Stryper
Stryper frontman and accomplished solo artist Michael Sweet announced his departure from legendary rock band BOSTON today, in order to devote his full attention to his longstanding role as the lead vocalist and lead guitarist for multi-platinum rock outfit Stryper – a band he co-founded in 1983. Sweet joined BOSTON in 2008, sharing lead vocals and playing guitar on a headlining tour of North America, performing the band’s classic hits like “More than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind,” “Amanda” and “Don’t Look Back.”
Following the BOSTON tour, Stryper released the 2009 studio album “Murder by Pride” (featuring a cover of BOSTON’s “Peace of Mind”), which led to a yearlong world tour with all of the original members. In 2010, Stryper released “The Covering,” and another world tour recently concluded. Stryper is currently in the studio working on an untitled release for 2011, with tour dates already announced for this fall.
“My focus and my loyalty lies with Stryper, the band that I’ve committed almost thirty years of my life to,” says Sweet. “The guys in Stryper are my brothers and I’m excited about our future together. The music of BOSTON helped shape who I am as an artist, and the opportunity to be a part of their musical legacy is overwhelming. It’s been an honor to share the stage with them, and a bigger honor to call them my friends.”
In addition to the increasing demands for Stryper, Sweet has been spending some of his time off the road in Nashville, writing with A-list songwriters such as Blair Daly (Rascal Flatts, Uncle Kracker, Lynyrd Skynyrd), Luke Laird (Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw), Britton Cameron (Steel Magnolia, Lonestar, Eden’s Edge) and others.
“I’ve always loved the writing process and to be able to collaborate with some of the greatest writers in Nashville is an absolutely amazing experience for me,” explains Sweet. “I’m looking forward to many more successful trips to Music City.”
Stryper has sold more than 8 million albums worldwide. The group’s unprecedented 1986 album “To Hell with the Devil” went double-platinum and was named one of the “100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music” by CCM Magazine.
6 BOSTON Kicks Off Summer Tour
The legendary band BOSTON will headline the outdoor festival at Marina Park on Friday, June 6 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, at one of the Canadian stops of the Great Race 2008. The ‘round-the-globe motor sports event will be making a pit stop in Thunder Bay as a part of its centennial anniversary. The show kicks off a summer of stadium, concert and festival dates that will span the United States and Canada.
BOSTON will be bringing two new recruits on tour this year. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Michael Sweet, veteran Stryper frontman will both sing and trade riffs with Gary and Tom on guitar. Unexpected phenomenon Tommy DeCarlo, the fan that posted his BOSTON covers on his myspace.com page and ended up on stage, will also be belting out the classics that skyrocketed the band to worldwide fame.
Many remember where they were when they first heard “More Than a Feeling” or “Hitch a Ride” on the airwaves back in 1976. BOSTON’s self-titled first album has sold over 17 million copies to date, and was the highest selling debut of all time. It remains a rock classic, and has seen a resurgence in sales after it was remastered by Scholz, along with their second album, “Don’t Look Back,” in 2006. “Amanda,” off 1986’s Third Stage, shot to the top of the charts and held a record-breaking stay at #1, in spite of being the only hit single that year not accompanied by a TV video.
With over 30 million albums sold worldwide, hits like “Peace of Mind,” “Smokin’,” and “Rock and Roll Band” are still as ubiquitous on rock and roll radio as they were when they were new. Coinciding with the summer tour is a fully re- mastered Greatest Hits CD (Sony Legacy.) Lead-off singles from all five BOSTON albums will be included, as well as new photos from throughout the years and liner notes written by Tom Scholz.
