4 Cruefest 2008 – Buckcherry
Buckcherry was one of the bands at Cruefest that I was looking forward to almost as much as Motley Crue. I have heard by quite a few folks that Buckcherry puts on a great show, but I never caught them live until Cruefest.
Buckcherry’s set list included the songs, “Lit up”, “Next To you”, “Everything”, “Broken glass”, “Sorry”, “Too Drunk” and an over 13 minute version of “Crazy Bitch” to close the show out. “Crazy Bitch” was one of the songs that I was looking forward to. I thought this extended version was a little bit too over the top, and way too long. Buckcherry could have added two more songs to their set by the time they got done with this one. I would have loved to have heard a couple more of their older tunes.
Aside from the “Crazy Bitch” performance, I thought Buckcherry was very good. Josh Todd is a very good front man, and the band is very tight. I never put much thought into Buckcherry’s guitarists, but both Keith Nelson and Stevie D. were very good. Their performance wasn’t quite as athletic as Papa Roach’s, but they were fun to watch nonetheless. They are definitely one of the better bands on the Cruefest bill.
I am hoping to catch Buckcherry again in September at X-Fest in Dayton, Ohio with Avenged Sevenfold. Hopefully, they will do a normal version of Crazy Bitch the next time around.
You can watch the edited Crazy Bitch video here. (I cut out the 3 minute monologue at the beginning of the song).

30 Cruefest – What is Your Take On It?
The Colossal Motley Crue announcement has come and gone. Other than the announcement, of Motley Crue’s new single, Saints of Los Angeles getting an early release on ITunes, and as a download on the Rockband video games, there were no real surprises. Most of the information regarding Cruefest was leaked over a month ago.
Their was no real shock that Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Trapt and Sixx A.M. was going to be on the road with Motley Crue.
Nikki Sixx said the criteria for picking bands for this new rock festival was a) each band had to have some hits, and b) they had to live the rock and roll and lifestyle.
I can’t deny the logic too much. If you are going to go on the road with Motley Crue, you will certainly have to be able to hold your own.
Buckcherry is a solid choice. Especially with their newfound success, with their CD 15.
Sixx A.M. is a no brainer choice since Nikki Sixx is a member of that band as well.
I have read comments by many people questioning the addition of Trapt, and Papa Roach. Most of them are not complimentary.
Aside from Motley Crue, all of the other acts on the bill came from the mid 90’s to the 00’s. This can’t be called an 80’s has been festival, as Motley Crue is the only act from that era of rock.
Is the addition of Trapt and Papa Roach smart marketing? It could be. I don’t know how big the fan bases are for those two bands, but this festival could draw three generations of rock fans, instead of teenagers and twenty somethings that might pay to see this show. Papa Roach and Trapt are two of a short list of rock acts that have managed to sell over a million albums since the year 2000.
Could this be the festival that brings rock back to the mainstream? Time will tell. It is certainly an interesting approach, and I applaud Motley Crue for trying to bring rock back to the masses.
As far as the Saints of Los Angeles single, I didn’t think it was all that great, but you know what, it gets in your head. I bet they will have a hit with this tune!
I will be in the stands when Cruefest hits Cincinnati. Are you going to go?
Please comment and tell me what you think about Cruefest!

5 Motley Crue to hit the road with Buckcherry?!
MÖTLEY CRÜE is rumored to be teaming up with several other acts from the Tenth Street Entertainment management stable — BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH and DROWNING POOL — for a U.S. tour that will kick off in early July. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the trek will go out under the moniker Cruefest — which is not to be confused with the association that organizes concerts at various locations around the world throughout the year to raise money for the various CRÜE-affiliated charities (including Skylar Neil Memorial Fund, Nikki Sixx‘s Running Wild in the Night foundation, Tommy Lee‘s charity of choice St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Mick Mars‘ charity Spondylitis Association of America).
CRÜE will officially announce its touring plans on April 15th in Los Angeles, according to a press release. All four members of the group will be present at a location yet to be determined for what the release hyped as “by far…one of the biggest music announcements of the year!!” The band is also launching a contest in which one grand prize winner from each major city in the country will be flown to Los Angeles to cover the announcement, complete with a chance to interview the band and have the interview broadcast live. Details can be found at the official CRÜE site.
The band is currently working on its ninth studio album and first featuring all four original members since 1997’s “Generation Swine”. Bassist Nikki Sixx said in an online posting, “Tommy‘s (Lee, drums) kickin’ ass, Vince (Neil, vocals) sounds insane and (Mick) Mars is shredding on guitars. It doesn’t feel like one song is better or worse than any other. It feels so good to be excited about something you’ve worked on so hard…I’m so excited for you all to hear it.”
The album, titled “The Dirt” after the group’s memoir of the same name, is tentatively due out on July 8.

2 Rock on T.V. – 1/24/2008 – Buckcherry
BUCKCHERRY will be the featured musical guests on NBC-TV’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Thursday, January 24.
BUCKCHERRY’s most recent album, “15”, has proven a triumph, spending more than 80 weeks on the Billboard 200 on its way towards RIAA platinum certification for sales above 1 million units. The CD’s first blockbuster hit single, “Crazy Bitch”, earned the band a 2007 Grammy Awards nomination in the “Best Hard Rock Performance” category. In addition, “Crazy Bitch” recently celebrated a full year in the Nielsen Ringscan Top 30 — the only track to do so in the chart’s history. “Crazy Bitch” has been certified as a Platinum Master Ringtone by the RIAA.
On November 20, the band released an MVI edition of “15”, a PC/MAC-compatible DVD which features full album audio, downloadable files for every song, previously unreleased live tracks (including “Everything”, “Next 2 You”, and “Crazy Bitch”), videos, an exclusive photo gallery, complete lyrics, U-Myx (which allows fans to create their own custom remixes of “Crazy Bitch” and “Everything”), plus a variety of digital extras (such as ringtones, screen savers, buddy icons, and wallpapers). In addition, fans who register their “15” MVI can unlock future content as it becomes available.
0 Video – Buckcherry – Check Your head
I have been listening to a little bit of Buckcherry as of late, and much to my surprise, more and more videos are being re-released on youtube.
The video below is for the song Check Your Head, from the 1999 Self Titled disc. This album didn’t get the proper support it deserved, so chances are, you are seeing this video for the first time, like me.
6 Buckcherry – 15 (Release Year – 2006)
I haven’t picked up a Buckcherry CD before now so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I heard “Crazy Bitch” on the Boneyard (XM Radio 41) several months ago before this CD was released in the United States. To me, “Crazy Bitch” is the catchiest song I have heard in years. I finally decided to give this CD a chance to see how the rest of the material stacks up.
Is Buckcherry a one hit wonder? Read On.
Let me start by saying, “WOW, THIS IS A GREAT CD“!!!
This has to be the easiest thing I have ever reviewed on my blog! I like just about every song on the CD. That is rarity for sure.
There are plenty of good rockers on this album. “Out of Line”, “Onset”, “Sunshine”, and the kickass, nasty rockers, “Crazy Bitch” and “So Far”. It doesn’t end there though, the Rockabilly flavored “Next To You”, the Bluesy “Brooklyn”, and the AC/DC styled tune “Broken Glass”. “Everything” screams hit, and ought to be the next single.”Sorry” is one of the better ballads I have heard in a while.
The only song that I didn’t care for much is the country twinged “Carousel”, and even it isn’t that horrible.
This CD is so good, I went searching for the videos so you could have a taste of what this CD sounds like.
“Next To You”
“Crazy Bitch” [ PG Version]
“Sorry”
If you like these songs, you will likely the rest on this Disc! This is one of the best hard rock CD’s in 2006. Highly recommended!
