0 TOM MORELLO TOUR TO FEATURE BOTH ACOUSTIC & ELECTRIC SETS: THE FABLED CITY RELEASED
TOM MORELLO: THE NIGHTWATCHMAN RELEASES ANTICIPATED SOLO ALBUM, THE FABLED CITY; NATIONAL TOUR TO FEATURE BOTH ACOUSTIC AND FULL-BAND ELECTRIC SETS
APPEARANCE SET FOR THE NEW YORKER FESTIVAL IN NYC OCTOBER 4th
“The Rage Against The Machine guitarist’s remarkable transformation from purveyor of weapons-grade funk-metal riffs into introspective protest folkie yields even more impressive fruit on his second solo effort. A-” Entertainment Weekly
Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine is set to release his anticipated solo album, The Fabled City, on September 30th. The 11-song album, produced by Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam), is the first release to bear the political and social activist’s birth name and features appearances by System of a Down’s Serj Tankian and Shooter Jennings. With more complex electric arrangements than displayed on the sparse solo debut One Man Revolution,The Fabled City is the synthesis of his groundbreaking work as an innovative rock guitarist and revolutionary acoustic troubadour. For the first time, this album bridges the gap between Tom Morello, the acoustic protest singer and Tom Morello, the guitar legend.
The tour in support of The Fabled City will display both sides of Morello’s guitar prowess with both an acoustic set and full-band electric set performed each night. In regards to the format of the performances, Morello stated “On The Fabled City Tour, I will be playing both acoustic and electric guitar. I want to start off with the darker acoustic songs and then build to some of the wildest electric guitar playing I have ever unleashed on stage in my career. The idea is half Dylan/Half Hendrix. I have been practicing my ass off and can’t wait to rock.”
In addition to the tour, Tom Morello has been confirmed to appear at the annual New Yorker Festival in New York City on Saturday, October 4th. Morello will be performing songs and talking with James Surowiecki, staff writer at The New Yorker since 2000. The performance and interview takes place at the Acura Stage at Cedar Lake Theatre, 547 West 26th Street. For more information: http://www.festival.newyorker.com/.

0 Tesla’s “Forever More” Tour Starts October 1st!
Multi-platinum rockers TESLA, Jeff Keith (vocals), Frank Hannon (guitars), Brian Wheat (bass), Troy Luccketta (drums) and Dave Rude (guitar) begin their “Forever More” tour this coming Wednesday, October 1at The Depot in Salt Lake City.
Tour is named for their seventh studio album, Forever More, set for release October 7 on Tesla Electric Company Recordings (in partnership with Ryko Distribution).
“I Wanna Live,” the new album’s first single, is accompanied by a video featured on the band’s site, aptly named, teslatheband.com where new updates are posted daily.
Tesla reunited with producer Terry Thomas and engineer Michael Rosen for Forever More. Thomas was behind the boards for the band’s 1994 Gold-certified Bust A Nut album, while Rosen worked with Tesla on Into The Now.
The band spent close to a year on a worldwide tour, between mid ’07 and ’08. During that time, the band recorded their Comin’ Atcha Live! DVD, was released July 15. It’s the band’s first DVD in 17 years (since 1991’s “Five Man Video Band”) and filled with over two hours of live music as well as special behind-the-scenes footage.
“After returning from Europe,” says guitarist Frank Hannon, “we jumped right back into the studio to work on Forever More with Terry while setting up a tour of American festival shows in July and August, playing alongside bands such as Matchbox Twenty, the Wallflowers, Queensrÿche, KISS and Judas Priest. It’s great that we can play with any band, of any music genre, because we’ve never been pigeon-holed into a style or label of music throughout our career.”
Hannon continues, “All the tracks on Forever More offer a variety of emotions where each song has its own twist, not sounding like another. Forever More was written and recorded during a period of high energy and bizarre life circumstances for each of Tesla’s band members, with those experiences coming full circle throughout the CD.”
Forever More is out October 7th

0 TESTAMENT ANNOUNCES HEADLINING DATES WITH SOILENT GREEN!!!
TESTAMENT is pleased to announce a string of headlining dates this October with Louisiana metallers Soilent Green. The tour includes TESTAMENT’s appearance at the Hammerstein Ballroom on October 9 in New York City, where they will be direct support to headliners Children of Bodom; also special guests, The Black Dahlia Murder and Between The Buried and Me.
Guitarist Eric Peterson checked in to discuss the Metal Masters tour and the band’s upcoming US headlining dates: “We just finished the Metal Masters tour, and it was a great tour to be on. Unfortunately, it went by too quick. We got to know everyone towards the end, and it started to feel like family. It’s too bad it had to end so soon, especially after getting to know everyone. Hopefully, the Metal Masters will continue next year in Europe.
“In the meantime, we’re heading to Japan and Australia. The last time we played there in ’06, we promised our fans we’d have a new record out the next time we came around. We kept our promise and we’re excited to get back there and play it for them.
“Once we get back, we’ll be headlining some east coast shows, including a one-off with Children of Bodom at the infamous Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. We’ll have full production, so we’re excited to put on our whole show. This tour is going to focus on secondary markets, so we don’t spoil anything for next year. We plan on having a big year and putting a big package together, wink wink.”
Having just wrapped up the biggest tour of the summer – Metal Masters with Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell, and Motorhead – TESTAMENT has been touring to support their phenomenal new release, The Formation of Damnation. The album hit streets April 29 on Nuclear Blast Records and debuted at 59 on the Billboard 200. TESTAMENT has been in the top 3 on Sirius’ Hard Attack since March and were 1 on national metal radio for 12 weeks. The band recently won “Album of the Year” at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards for The Formation of Damnation.

0 Sound and Fury Tour Dates with Bang Camaro
Sound and Fury are continuing their rock n’ roll freight train of excess with the group’s Fall US tour alongside Boston based ‘80s enthusiasts Bang Camaro.
“Bang Camaro are really great and we’re really excited to be touring with them and its gonna be a kick ass party,” commented Sound and Fury frontman Luke Metcalf.
Toronto’s Sound and Fury are flying high off their self-titled debut full-length album, which was released through Rebel Youth Records/MRI-RED Distribution. The band’s refreshing approach to modern rock combines the thunderous riffing of AC/DC with the raw energy of the Ramones. The band’s explosive live show has been converting loyal fans opening for everyone from pop-punkers Sum 41 to Aussie rockers Airbourne. Sound and Fury’s unbridled power can be witnessed in the group’s brand new video for “Teenage Rampage”, which can be seen online at www.soundandfury.com.
Boston based Bang Camaro are the perfect tour companion to aid Sound and Fury’s whiskey rawk show. The band consists of three guitar players, a bass player, a drummer, and anywhere from ten to twenty singers. The songs remind the listener of arena rock from the mid to late 80s, but with a strange twist. This band has no lead vocals, only guitar solos and choruses sung by the band and the mob of extras. The group is touring in support of their self-titled debut album, which has drawn attention from MTV and Billboard magazine.

1 Sound And Fury Assaults Great White North With Airbourne
Sound And Fury Assaults Great White North On Canadian Tour With Airbourne
***
REJECT ALL THINGS POP FOR REAL, RAMPAGING, ROCK ON DEBUT ALBUM, “SOUND AND FURY” IN STORES NOW!
Toronto’s high powered rock n’ roll powerhouse Sound & Fury have announced their Canadian tour supporting Australian rockers Airbourne. The announcement comes on the heels of the release of the band’s self-titled debut, which hit stores via Rebel Youth Records/MRI-RED Distribution.
Sound and Fury recently shot a video for “Teenage Rampage” at Toronto’s Bovine Sex Club with director Britt Wilen. The video can be seen online at the following location http://new.soundandfury.com/ajax.asp?video=rampage
Sound and Fury frontman Luke Metcalf commented, “The song is about a pretty wild girl I dated in high school and I wanted a video about her that was NOT politically correct. I wanted a video that showed what we were doing; drinking, getting stoned, listening to Rock and Roll and having sex, without some bullshit negative message. Good times!!!”
Sound and Fury, which also includes guitarists Daz and Griffin, bassist John Kerns, and drummer Chris Avalos, is all about power chords, no-BS rock ‘n roll, and total sonic assault, as evidenced by the lead-off turbo-charged single and video from ‘Sound and Fury,’ “18.” The group’s stripped down straight up rock n’ roll and was praised by PunkTV.ca for “combining iconoclastic AC/DC thunder, Misfits brooding, the raw impetuousness of the Pistols and the charismatic anthemic song styling’s of the Ramones. In addition to perfectly capturing their raw power on album, Sound & Fury has been gaining fans by the truckload by also opening up for Canada’s leading pop-punk band, Sum 41, throughout the great white north (as well as the U.K.).
The band has also announced they will be giving away five pairs of tickets to each show for fans who join the Sound & Fury street-team at www.rebelyouth.com. Fans are encouraged to join the street-team to qualify to tickets, Sound & Fury merchandise and a customized Guitar Hero game.

6 Prizoner & RATT Concert Review
RATT & Roll returned to Cincinnati last Thursday Night. Two local acts opened this show, A Nervous Wreck, and Prizoner. I made it to Annies shortly after Prizoner started playing, so I can’t say how A Nervous Wreck’s set went, but Prizoner was on fire Thursday Night.
Prizoner’s set included covers by The Cult, AC/DC, Buckcherry, Kix, Cinderella, Puddle of Mudd, Skid Row, Tesla, Iron Maiden and a damn good cover of Motley Crue’s Saints of Los Angeles, as well as their own original tune, White Knuckle Ride. Prizoner has been a staple in the Cincinnati rock scene since the 80’s, and they did a fantastic job at getting the crowd pumped up and ready to see RATT.
Prizoner was so good that I though RATT would be a let down, after their excellent set. This was not the case tonight. Prizoner set the crowd up, and RATT tore the roof off of the club.
I have seen RATT twice in 2007, and Stephen Pearcy with his solo band in December. Each time, I thought Pearcy’s voice was a little better than the last time I saw him. His voice was damn near perfect this time around. I made a point to stand on the side of the stage where Warren DeMartini was playing. I am quite glad I did. His playing and solos were quite impressive.
Robby Crane might just be the best bass player RATT has ever had. Does this guy ever stand still during a show? His bass combined with Bobby Blotzer’s drums sounded great all night.
John Corabi played rhythm guitar and sang backup to Stephen Pearcy. I never noticed how much Corabi was singing until this show. I hope he doesn’t leave the band as it has been rumored of late. He will be greatly missed if he does quit RATT.
RATT played a pretty good selection of their hits including Tug of War, You’re In Love, Way Cool Jr., Lack of Communication, Lay It Down, Wanted Man, Back For More, a cover of Aerosmith’s Walkin’ The Dog, Nobody Rides For Free and a few other tunes that I can’t recall.
They also did an encore of Body Talk and Round & Round.
I didn’t decide to hit this show until a couple of days before. It was a great concert for a club show. I was glad I went. If I had any complaints at all, it would have wished RATT would have played longer.
Don’t miss RATT if they head your way. They have a few shows left on this tour.
I have included videos from RATT’s encore of Body Talk and Round and Below.
Check them out!

1 EXREME ‘TAKE US ALIVE’ WORLD TOUR LAUNCHES ON JULY 29
Recently Announce First New Album In Thirteen Years
Saudades de Rock available August 12th on Open E Records
This summer, EXTREME will release Saudades de Rock (pronounced “sow-dodge”),
their first studio album in thirteen years which will coincide with their first
world tour in over twelve years. Saudades de Rock will be released on August 12th
on Open E Records and distributed by Fontana.
The multi-platinum, Boston-bred band’s 2008 ‘TAKE US ALIVE’ world tour gets
underway on July 29th at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and will be anchored
by a hometown gig two days later at the Bank of America Pavilion. In advance of
the tour, Extreme will be a co-headliner on July 11th at the five day Rocklahoma
Festival in Pryor, OK. See all current dates below.
The iconic rock foursome – vocalist Gary Cherone, guitarist Nuno Bettencourt,
bassist Pat Badger and new drummer Kevin Figueiredo – recorded their fifth
studio offering at NRG Studios in Los Angeles with Bettencourt at the helm as
producer and mixer. Saudades de Rock boasts 13 tracks, including the infectious
roar of “Star,” the groove-laden, swagger of “King Of The Ladies”, a raw funk
rock anthem called “Learn To Love”, and the expressive ballad “Ghost.”
“’Saudades’ was always a beautiful word to me,” Bettencourt explains about the
Portuguese album moniker. “It expresses a longing; an underlying sadness for
something or someone that’s been missing in your life, and never quite sure if
it will ever return. In this case, for us, it’s Rock and Roll. Saudades de
Rock.”
Gary Cherone adds, “I like how it expresses that longing we’ve been feeling to
play for our fans and be together again.”

To date, the Grammy-nominated EXTREME has released four albums, plus a greatest
hits set—selling over 10 million records worldwide. On the strength of multiple
world tours, they also achieved a #1 hit single, “More Than Words”—from their
1990 multi-platinum album Extreme II: Pornograffitti—on the Billboard Hot 100,
which they followed with the Top Five “Hole Hearted.” Although these two
acoustic hits brought the band great mainstream success, it overshadowed the
band’s trademark sound: a mix of hard rock funk in the spirit and style of their
predecessors Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen and Van Halen—fueled by
BETTENCOURT’s signature guitar flights and CHERONE’s resonant vocals—and matched
with a social consciousness in their lyrics.
OPEN E RECORDS is a new label that is distributed by Fontana. A portion of Open
E Records profits will be donated to Music Drives Us, a foundation created as a
way to support music in New England. The Foundation also gives scholarship money
for individuals who desire to continue their musical education.
