Slash posted the following on his blog on Wednesday:

Hey, what’s happening? I had planned on posting this sooner, but the holiday came & I got sidetracked. Anyway, I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving regardless. The fundraiser at the Avalon was a complete success, the concert raised 170k for LA Youth Network & made it possible for them to keep open their doors. If you were there thank you so much for your support.  The gig itself was awesome, all the guests that appeared brought their A game, made a tremendous effort & really made it a special event. There were some fantastic moments up there that night for sure. I want to thank Ozzy, Perry Farrell, Billy Idol, Chester Bennington, Andrew Stockdale, Travis Barker, Dave Navarro, Steve Adler, Duff McKagan, Franky Perez, Chris Chaney & George Lopez for their selfless contributions. I want to thank the amazing crew who made the whole thing come off without a hitch & did it for little to nothing. And, everybody who donated generously to the cause. I also want to thank KLOS, The Huffington Post, the LA Times, the LA Weekly & Fox Sports News for their time & effort in helping to advertise & help make this a sellout Rock & Roll show, the likes of which could never be duplicated.

My solo record is about to go into mastering, it sounds really good already, but that’s the final step in the recording process & then it is finished. There is a lot of really cool plans being made for the release of this album, its going to be a blast.

I have a new “Slash Model” Les Paul in the works, I just saw & played the 1st prototype, its killer. There is also a Marshall 100w amp being developed that I’m helping design that shouldn’t be too far off as well. More news on both those items as it develops.

I’m also playing a few songs at the KLOS Christmas Party Dec 16th at the Nokia Theater along with Steve Lukather, Jason Bonham & a host of others which promises to be a good time I’m sure.

That’s about it, talk to you soon. Iiii|; ),

Have you heard the B side track version of Paradise City with Slash, Cypress Hill & Fergie?  Check it out below.

Some of you are probably wondering why I would cover a fifteen year old movie soundtrack at HRH, but I have a very good reason to do so.

Chances are, you probably have seen this clunker of a movie featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger.  This is one of the rare cases where the movie soundtrack is actually better than the movie itself.

A couple of wees ago, I started looking for rare cuts from Tesla, and discovered that they performed the title track to the movie “Last Action Hero”.  While I didn’t remember the song, I saw the list of bands on this sound track and couldn’t resist picking this up.  I secured a copy off of Amazon.com for 1 cent plus shipping.

The soundtrack has the following songs:

1. AC/DC  – Big Gun
2. Alice in Chains – What the Hell Have I
3. Megadeth – Angry Again
4. Queensryche – Real World
5. Def Leppard – Two Steps Behind
6. Anthrax – Poison My Eyes
7. Aerosmith – Dream On (Live Version)
8. Alice In Chains – A Little Bitter
9. Cypress Hill – Cock the Hammer
10. Fishbone – Swim
11. Tesla –  Last Action Hero
12. Michael Kamen With Buckethead – Jack and the Ripper

You can’t really go wrong with a soundtrack that has AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Megadeth, Queensryche, Def Leppard, Anthrax, Aerosmith and Tesla on it.

This is the only place you will find the Tesla cut, “Last Action Hero”.  This also has a semi rare cut from Megadeth “Angry Again” which originally only available on the Hidden Treasures CD, but can now also be found in the Megadeth Warchest CD box set, or the newer greatest hits disc Anthology.

This also the only place you will find the AC/DC song “Big Gun” (in the video below).

I didn’t really care for the Alice in Chains songs, but the rest of the stuff on this disc is pretty good. For one penny plus shipping, it was a worthy purchase.  You can find a copy for of the CD, at this link.
