Remember Dilana from Rockstar Supernova? Tracii Guns has announced Dilana as the new singer for L.A. Guns. Personally, I like Dilana, I thought she should have won that Rockstar Supernova show. She gained many fans from that show, so it should be interesting to see who shows up at a L.A. Guns show now.
Quite frankly, I think this is an interesting move for Tracii Guns. Dilana is a hell of a singer, and may surprise quite a few people. I will miss seeing Jizzy live (get Love/Hate back together Jizzy!), but I am interested in seeing this version of L.A. Guns live.
Apparently, not all fans like this decision. Check out this awesome Youtube clip below. (Thanks Kenny!!)
From L.A. Guns Official website:
Dilana is the new singer for L.A. Guns after an incredible amount of scrutiny and mixed opinions.
The final straw was her audition where she completely took control of the environment by injecting a type of soul into these old new songs that I have never heard before. The first tune we jammed on was the Otis Redding classic ” These Arms Of Mine ” and even a very skeptical Jeremy looked up at me and mouthed Holy Shit to me and I had the same feeling.
Then we ran through One More Reason, Never Enough and of course The Ballad Of Jayne and it was an awakening of just how professional and soulful of a Singer Dilana is.
After getting Responses from Label Steve Vai, my Agent and Manager who are all really into a drastic positive change for L.A. Guns and Myself , we all feel this is a ballsy and risky change that we all collectively feel good about. I expect there will be some changes in the live setlist and I hope we can get straight into writing mode ASAP and record some fresh Rock n Roll also ASAP . We hit the road starting in San Antonio Texas September 21st.

I can’t believe that another year has flown by…and still no CD release.
3 Days ago, I was officially and legally released from my recording contract with HMG, a FREE woman again lol! Does this mean that you get to hear the record I spent the past 2,5 years working on? That I don’t know. I receive many questions on a daily basis from you asking when, why, where etc…the CD can be found, so I will take this opp to briefly answer that question that drives a rusty nail a little farther into my heart each time I get it.
Basically my (now ex) label, HMG, promised to deliver certain obligations contractually a little over 9 months ago when we 1st sealed the deal. Unfortunately, for ALL of us, that never happened AND the label went bang! So no money, no marketing, no CD release!
Saddest of all, the record is and has been ready since July. Produced, mixed, mastered (by some of the industry’s best), with me there EVERY no te of the way. That product of love n pain is now just laying on a shelf somewhere in London, collecting dust. There is NOTHING I can do other than accept my fate and move forward. The masters belong to HMG, this means that I do not own the specific recorded versions of the DarkLight CD. I DO however own the songs!!
This is the good news my friends. My immediate plan is to start (ASAP) re-recording some of these songs and to throw in a few new ones along the way! Erik and I have already begun working and experimenting on a few trax which we’ll be recording, producing and mixing in our home studio, by ourselves!
I CAN promise you this…before very long, the 1st completed track WILL be available for you ON LINE, released by ME!!
This entire process has been for a very specific reason, a disguised blessing! I am extremely excited about the NEW Dilana trax coming your way soon!
I hope that this has made things clearer to you. Underst and, I am as frustrated as you are. For me it is (was) like losing a baby that I had given birth to n nurtured for the past few years. In Buddhism it is believed that there cannot be life without death! Like the phoenix, I shall rise AGAIN! This is the 3rd rec deal that has gone sour on my ass and I simply REFUSE to give in to the vultures of this industry….
THANK YOU all for still sticking by me. Your support and love is what keeps my fire burning.
From an early, dark and cold Swedish Christmas morning…
Dilana Robichaux — who is best known for her participation on the hit CBS reality-show “Rock Star: Supernova” — has inked a deal with Hurricane Music Group (HMG) in London. The singer will enter the studio later this month with producer Toby Wright (ALICE IN CHAINS, KORN, METALLICA, FEAR FACTORY) to begin recording her new album for a late 2008 release.
Robichaux last year signed a worldwide, long term, co-publishing agreement with Cherry Lane Music Publishing Company Inc., whose roster includes songwriters such as Quincy Jones, the BLACK EYED PEAS, and John Legend.
Dilana has been collaborating with MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars on material for her new album, although it’s unclear if any of the songs will make the final cut.
The video below, is from her Wonderfool album, under the name Dilana Smith.
