WAMI Kill The King
“Kill the King”, the debut album by WAMI is scheduled for release on May, 12th in Europe and May, 13th in North America. The names associated with the project are true legends on the hard rock scene: on the vocals – Doogie White (Rainbow, Michael Schenker, Yngwie Malmsteen), on the drums – Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, DIO), on the bass – Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), who join forces with the 16-year-old Polish guitarist Iggy Gwadera, who made his debut 2 years ago as the guitarist of Anti Tank Nun.

You can now check a short interview with Marco Mendoza where he discusses the project. It’s available on Metal Mind Productions’ YouTube channel in THIS location.
The idea to record an album together was born after Thin Lizzy’s concert in Poland. The bassist Marco Mendoza, delighted with the young guitarist Iggy, who supported Thin Lizzy with his band Anti Tank Nun, suggested that they record some music together. This first idea, which was maturing for the next dozen-odd months, eventually evolved into the project involving legendary musicians, who are currently recording a brand new album together with Iggy. The drummer Vinny Appice, renowned for playing in some of the best heavy metal bands of worldwide fame, as also the bassist Marco Mendoza have already finished recording bass and drum tracks in Los Angeles. In late November 2013, Doogie White confronted his vocal talent with Iggy’s guitar technique during their recording sessions in Poland. Hard rock fans can well expect the results of these sessions to be truly outstanding!

Award-winning, legendary guitarist Michael Schenker will release a brand new studio album entitled “Bridge The Gap” in the UK on Monday December 2nd.  Released by in-akustik, the album features Schenker’s band Temple of Rock which consists of ex-Scorpions Herman Rarebell (drums) and Francis Buchholz (bass), plus ex-Rainbow’s Doogie White (vocals) and Wayne Findlay (guitar, keyboards).

Listen to the world premiere of new song “Where The Wild Winds Blow” – http://snd.sc/18Rlbs0

The new album features 13 hard-hitting, adrenalin fueled melodic rock’n’roll songs that showcase Schenker’s distinctive and explosive guitar playing, valiantly underpinned by the ferocious rhythm section of Rarebell and Buchholz, marking the first time Schenker, Rarebell and Buchholz appeared on the same album together since the Scorpions’ 1979 “Lovedrive”.

“I wanted to combine the old with the new,” says Schenker.  “That’s why the album’s called Bridge The Gap.  With Wayne playing 7 string guitar we created some low, heavy modern sounds.  Since I play and experiment on a regular basis, I always have some new, fresh sparks to share when I record a new album.  I am inspired from within.  It’s infinite like a kaleidoscope.

Continues Schenker – “As former members of the Scorpions, Herman, Francis and I have been out of the loop of rock’n’roll for quite a while.  Getting together for the first time since the Lovedrive album is an incredible jump. We’re connecting the past with the present.  We’re bridging the gap.”

0 New video – Doogie White & La Paz – The Good Old Days

La Paz

British band Doogie White & La Paz returned in May with a new studio album entitled “The Dark and The Light”. And today the band reveal the second track taken from the album. “The Good Old Days” is available below.

The clip contains archive band materials – original video from recording sessions and live sets in the 80s as well as part of the session when this track was recorded in 2012.

Doogie White comments: “The song tells the story and the video shows the story. We’re the best of friends still having a great time doing what we love.”

Scottish vocalist Doogie White came to the attention of the worldwide audience when Ritchie Blackmore asked him to be the lead singer in his reformed Rainbow. They recorded one album together – “Stranger in Us All.” Doogie would go on to sing with Swedish neo-classical guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen for over a six and a half year period, record two albums and tour the world. He also recorded four albums and toured with Cornerstone and is currently the lead singer of the legendary  N.W.O.B.H.M. band – Tank.

La Paz were formed in Lanarkshire, Scotland in the summer of 1984 by Chic McSherry (guitars), Doogie White (vocals) and Alex Carmichael (bass). At the first rehearsal together they hit it off immediately on a personal level – they also liked the same music and they had the same influences and heroes (Purple, Rainbow, Journey, Gary Moore) so they started to recruit other members to try to form a band and go do some gigs. Andy Mason (keyboards) joined the trio and he fitted in from the start, even though he was still at school when he joined. Drummers were always a problem and, over the life of the band, La Paz went through almost as many as Spinal Tap. Unquestionably the loudest and the most accomplished was/is their current drummer, Paul McManus. La Paz played live regularly, sometimes playing up to a hundred gigs in a year. They played the world-famous Marquee Club in London as well as at some festivals in Milton Keynes and they were featured regularly in Kerrang! (Derek Oliver becoming a big fan of the band) and attracted interest from a number of UK and US record companies, finally agreeing terms with one of them for a three album deal. But it was not to be – for reasons which were never explained by the record label the deal fell through at the very last minute. Sadly the band didn’t survive for very long after that. They did their last gig on 15th October 1988 and then Doogie moved to London to join Midnite Blue, Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, Cornerstone, Yngwie Malmsteen and now the mighty Tank. And then legendary DJ Tom Russell of 96.3 Rock Radio called Doogie and asked him if he would do some acoustic numbers at The Garage in Glasgow for Rock Radio’s Birthday Bash in January 2008. Doogie agreed and asked Chic to play guitar. It was a big ask after 20 years: almost 1000 people, Doogie singing alone and Chic with one flamenco guitar! “We had such a blast though and it woke up so many great memories in both of us that we decided to give it a go with the full band for my 50th birthday” said Chic. And so the full band started to rehearse and it was clear that they could still play a bit. The band just gelled: just like old times and the gigs were a terrific success. And so the idea of re-recording some of the favorites from the set that had never had a proper production job was conceived. The final result could be heard on the album “Granite” released in early 2012. It was an album with its roots in the past but its energy in the present. And now the band return with their sophomore album entitled “The Dark and The Light”.Doogie White & La Paz – line-up:

British band Doogie White & La Paz have just re-new their recording contract with Metal Mind Productions. Their next studio album entitled “The Dark and The Light” is planned to be released in late Spring.

1 Tank – New Sample Tracks Online for “War Nation”

  • May 22, 2012

British rock legends Tank return with the highly anticipated follow up to their 2010 album “War Machine”. Guitarists Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans, vocalist Doogie White and bassist Chris Dale are now joined by former Tank member Steve Hopgood on drums. Their new material entitled “War Nation” is scheduled for release on June, 4th in Europe and June, 5th in USA (via MVD) and today the band reveal the sample tracks from the new album on their official website. You can find them HERE.

Cliff Evans describe the new album, “As with our ‘War Machine album, ‘War Nation’ will include a variety of different influences and styles. With a wealth of musical ability to draw from, we don’t like to limit ourselves. Individually we’ve worked with names such as Ritchie Blackmore, Bruce Dickinson, Paul D’anno and Yngwie Malmsteen. So many bands release albums now where once you’ve listened to the first two songs you’ve heard the whole album. Not with Tank. Each song that makes it onto our album has to deserve it. Our standards are high.” Doogie White continues, “With songs like ‘Justice for All’ and ‘Grace of God’ we are upgrading the TANK sound while retaining all the elements that made ‘War Machine’ so successful. There are killer riffs and haunting melodies and lyrics that you can take from, what you want, or indeed what you need.”

Track listing:

1. War Nation
2. Song For The Dead
3. Hammer And Nails
4. Don’t Dream In The Dark
5. Grace Of God
6. Dreamer
7. Justice For All
8. Wings Of Heaven
9. State Of The Union
10. Hard Road

Apart from the new album, TANK will also release their first ever live DVD later this year. Recordings were made while opening for Judas Priest in 2011 and during the bands show at Stodola Club, Warsaw on March 9th 2012. The set list will include fan favourites such as ‘This Means War’ ‘Echoes of a Distant Battle’ ‘Power of the Hunter’ and ‘ The War Drags Ever On’ plus future classics such as ‘Judgement Day’ and ‘Phoenix Rising’.

Kruk, a Polish Hard Rock band, finally revealed their “In Reverie” video. The song is taken from their second studio album “It Will Not Come Back” (released by Metal Mind Productions in 2011) and features guest appearance by Doogie White. This charismatic singer is best known to the wide audience for his cooperation with such bands as Midnight Blue, Rainbow, Cornerstore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Rata Blanca and most recently Tank or La Paz.

Piotr Brzychcy, Kruk’s guitarist, describes the band’s work with Doogie White:
“Doogie isn’t only a great singer, but also a wonderful man. On the set of the video for ‘In Reverie’ he created a friendly atmosphere, which influenced everyone so much that soon we all forgot about the stress that took hold of us at first. He motivated us to forget about all our inhibitions and to feel the rock ‘n’ roll madness. We also heard lots of various stories from White’s colorful history, usually full of vivid details of the kind that you would never find in a interview. On that day, however, what was the most important for us was the words of acknowledgment and praise which he expressed on several occasions with reference to Kruk.”

“Granite”, the first album by Doogie White & La Paz will be released on February 13th (in US on March, 6th).
You can listen to the track “Just For Today” below!
Doogie White: “’Just for Today’ was the first of three brand new songs and the first one we wrote together after a number of years for the album. The chorus wrote itself really. I wanted to keep the lyrics and melody in the style I did with La Paz. I think we captured it very well.
I thought back to how my world was back then… It was surprisingly easy. It’s just about bumping into an old girlfriend and saying sorry while still trying it on. Love the arrangement and the Hammond on the chorus really gives it a lift. A simple but heartfelt wee song.”
1 Doogie White & La Paz – Debut Album Coming In February

  • December 7, 2011
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music
Metal Mind Productions is proud to announce the release of an unique album in early 2012 – “Granite” by Doogie White & La Paz.
La Paz were formed in Lanarkshire, Scotland in the summer of 1984 by Chic McSherry (guitars), Doogie White (vocals) and Alex Carmichael (bass). They had all been playing in the local music scene for a number of years and had run across each other often enough but the time hadn’t been right to work together until then. At the first rehearsal together they hit it off immediately on a personal level – they also liked the same music and they had the same influences and heroes (Purple, Rainbow, Journey, Gary Moore) so they started to recruit other members to try to form a band and go do some gigs. They decided to add keyboards right away as, at that time, the “classic” guitar/keys combination had declined from favour and it immediately made them different from the other all-guitar bands that dominated the circuit at that time. Andy Mason joined the trio and he fitted in from the start, even though he was still at school when he joined and his middle-class parents were not at all happy about him hanging out with a bunch of rockers from the wrong side of the tracks. Drummers were always a problem and, over the life of the band, La Paz went through almost as many as Spinal Tap, although none of them died in bizarre gardening accidents or spontaneously combusted.
These things happen in the music business but after five or six years of hard graft it was a real blow and sadly the band didn’t survive for very long after that. They did their last gig on 15th October 1988 and then Doogie moved to London to join Midnite Blue, Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, Cornerstone, Yngwie Malmsteen and now the mighty Tank. That was pretty much that for La Paz, apart from a single reunion gig about a year after the split and a brief appearance at a Glasgow rock club on Chic’s 40th birthday.

Three dates were booked and Doogie flew in from London the night before the first show to rehearse with everyone for the first time. The band just gelled: just like old times and the gigs were a terrific success. And so the notion of re-recording some of the favourites from the set that had never had a proper production job was floated by Paul: “What if we just gave it a try…”
Chic: “Recording started in early 2011 and culminated in ‘Granite’, the album that we should have made back in the day. It has six of the live favourites:
Too Good To Lose
This Boy
Lesson in love
Amy
What Do You Say
Still In Love
as well as three brand new tracks:
Just For Today
Young And Restless
Shame The Devil”
Production was by Doogie and Chic with mixing and mastering by the renowned Rolf Munkes gave it a final injection of adrenalin.
“Granite” is an album with its roots in the past but its energy in the present. Metal Mind Productions will release “Granite” on 13th February 2012 in Europe and 6th March 2012 in USA (via MVD).

2 Michael Schenker – Temple of Rock (2011)

56 Year old Michael Schenker has released a new solo CD, Temple of Rock. I had no expectations for this CD when I picked it up.  I didn’t read any reviews or see any press about it.  I picked it up solo because Schenker is a legendary guitarist who always delivers quality music.  Temple of Rock continues that tradition with more killer fret work, and a band featuring some of the biggest veterans in hard rock, Pete Way, Herman Rarebell, and Michael Voss.

Michael Voss is the singer from Mad Max and Cassanova.  I am not familiar with the music from those bands, so the voice of Voss is new to me. His voice definitely works well with the insane licks from Michael Schenker.

“Fallen Angel” almost has a hair metal like vibe to it, but Schenker’s riffs give it a heavy enough spin to made it stand out.

“The End of An Era” is a high-speed rocker that rocks on all counts. Michael Voss delivers a great vocal, and Schenker cranks out another great guitar solo!

I love the middle eastern influence in the Schenker’s riffs on “Miss Claustrophobia”.  This song is one of the many highlights on Temple of Rock.

Doogie White handles the vocals on the song “Before the Devil Knows Your Dead”. You won’t want to miss this killer cut.

“Lover’s Sinfony” reunites Schenker with former MSG vocalist Robin McAuley. If there was ever a Yin to the Yang that is Michael Schenker, McAuley would be the one. His voice is the perfect match for Schenker’s stellar playing. I would love to see these two reunite for another MSG Album.

“Saturday Night” is the ultimate weekend anthem that get lots of airplay.  This song is catchy as hell!

The CD is closed out with an extended version of “How Long” that features a guitar battle with Michael Schenker, Leslie West and Michael Amott. Very cool stuff indeed!

The Temple of Rock is a must own CD for all Michael Schenker fans.  You won’t be disappointed!  Check it out!  You can pick it up at this link.

As previously announced Metal Mind Productions will release Doogie White’s debut solo release this October. The album called “As Yet Untitled” is a collection of 10 dramatic and hard hitting rock songs co-written by White and some good friends he has made over the years on the rock scene. Track “Dreams Lie Down and Die” is now available to stream below!
Doogie White: “I am not someone who remembers dreams but I guess I must have them. But this song is about the dreams we have for ourselves.  Paul Logue sent me a huge rolling riff with a really heavy drum rhythm.
I wanted to make each verse about the way we feel when our desires or wishes in life veer off in a different path. I was reading the newspaper that a man had killed the girlfriend who had cheated on and then left him.  I guess most of us have felt that way but have never actually acted on the impulse.
So I included the horror of the act of slaughter, the whispering of the last words in the bridge and then the remorse.
I guess I would say. The first impulse is probably not the one to act on.”
This Scottish vocalist came to the attention of the worldwide audience when Ritchie Blackmore asked him to be the lead singer in his reformed Rainbow. They recorded one album together – “Stranger in Us All.” Doogie would go on to sing with Swedish neo-classical guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen for over a six and a half year period, record two albums and tour the world. He also recorded four albums and toured with Cornerstone and is currently the lead singer of Tank. The list of guest musicians involved in the recording of “As Yet Untitled” looks impressive: Drums – Patrick Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen), Thomas Broman (Glenn Hughes); Keyboards – Derek Sherinian (Black Country Communion), Tony Carey (Rainbow); Bass – Neil Murray (Whitesnake), Greg Smith (Ted Nugent), Paul Logue (Edens Curse); Guitars – Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall),  Marcus Jidell (Royal Hunt), Phil Hilborne (Queen Musical), Mick Tucker (Tank); Guest vocals – Patti Russo (Meatloaf, Cher).
The album was recorded at various studios in Florida, Germany, and Scotland but most of the production was handled in Sweden with Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall) at the helm.
Metal Mind Productions set the release date for the 24th of October in Europe and the 8th of November in USA (via MVD).

Doogie White: “‘Time Machine’ was written by Paul Logue and myself. I was having my Dr Who moment. If you could go back what would you change? I try not to have dirt on the back of my shoes or dwell on the past, but I guess we all have moments when we think ‘What if?’ Bridges get burned, some get rebuilt and some just get carried by the river to the sea and float away never to be seen again. But if you could relive that moment, that secret special moment, just for one day, how magical it might be?”

1 Metal Mind Productions to Release Doogie White’s Solo Album!

Metal Mind Productions is proud to announce the release of Doogie White’s solo album – “As Yet Untitled”.
He also recorded four albums and toured with Cornerstone and is currently the lead singer of Tank, who embark on selected European dates starting this August.
Doogie White will release his first solo album through Metal Mind Productions in October. The album called “As Yet Untitled” is a collection of 10 dramatic and hard hitting rock songs co-written by White and some good friends he has made over the years on the rock scene.
White says, “I always thought my first solo album should be called this. The journalists at Sounds and Kerrang! always had a line that so and so are in the studio recording an album, as yet untitled… Well now I have actually done that. I always like to be part of a band but I found myself isolated for a short while and decided to record some of the songs that I had been working on, while either on the road or back at home. I won’t sit around and wait for the phone to ring. A bored Doogie is a dangerous thing! I gathered the good and the great, companions who had travelled the world with me at various times. Friends who I knew were outstanding players and to a man and one beautiful woman they gave freely of their talents and time. I am forever in their debt.”
The list of guest musicians involved in the recording of “As Yet Untitled” looks impressive:
Patrick Johansson (Yngwie), Thomas Broman (Glenn Hughes) – Drums,
Derek Sherinian (Black Country Communion), Tony Carey (Rainbow) – Bass,
Neil Murray (Whitesnake), Greg Smith (Ted Nugent), Paul Logue (Edens Curse) – Keyboards,
Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall),  Marcus Jidell (Royal Hunt), Phil Hilborne ( Queen Musical), Mick Tucker (Tank) – Guitars
Patti Russo (Meatloaf, Cher) – Guest vocals.
The album was recorded at various studios in Florida, Germany, and Scotland but most of the production was handled in Sweden with Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall) at the helm.
White: “Pontus and I became great friends through our time with Yngwie. He shone a bright light on the songs with his production. He brought a certain calmness to the madness and made sure that everything that was in the song had to be there for a reason. Even when the hard drive with the initial mixes was stolen, I knew that Pontus could sort it out.”
Metal Mind Productions set the release date for the 24th of October in Europe and the 7th of November in USA (via MVD).

Kruk’s musicians openly express their joy! They couldn’t have hoped for a better present than Ritchie Blackmore’s former singer’s participation in their musical enterprise! As it turns out, Piotrek Brzychcy, Tomek Wiśniewski and Krzysztof Walczyk met White already in 2005 during their gig in Katowice, where they shared the stage with Yngwie Malmsteen. “We were extremely happy that, after the gig, we could give each other high five, that we could make some commemorative photos. Now he sings in our song, he sings our lyrics… on our album. It’s hard to believe!” Piotrek says, adding “I remember one of my first conversations with Krzysiek Walczyk, when we expressed our utmost delight over Rainbow’s ‘Strangers in Us All’. It was back when we were just starting to form Kruk and we had never dreamed that we would ever have the honor of cooperating with Doogie White. We adored White for having set new standards in the Purple-Rainbow family with the way he sang with Blackmore. What he recorded for “In Reverie” is to our utmost satisfaction because you can hear passion and joy in every single note. I don’t think there’s a more happy band today in the entire universe than us!”

AFM Records is very pleased to announce the signing of Alex Beyrodt´s Voodoo Circle.

Alex is well-known throughout the Rock & Metal scene as the mastermind of Silent Force, former guitarist of Sinner and tour guitarist of Primal Fear. His exceptional compositions and instrumental skills secured him highest respect from other musicians and a strong worldwide fan base. In Japan, where quality is still the most important aspect when it comes to music, he is hailed as a “guitar hero” and fills the venues. Alex chose to walk in huge footsteps with Voodoo Circle, because the immense impact and influence that bands like Rainbow and Deep Purple had, are undeniable. But if there is just one German musician who can fill this big boots and arouse with new energy, we definitely talk about Alex Beyrodt.

Not to forget, it needs a special kind of stage presence, charisma and the ability to “let the guitar do the talking”, so every listener can feel it deep down in his spine. Alex´ 60´s Strat guitar can give you exactly this – all in the tradition of the true heroes of Rock guitar.

Now Alex has founded a new band, that is deeply rooted in classic Hard Rock: Voodoo Circle. The band´s name will soon be known for first class musicianship and the ability to evoke pure magic. Here we have Alex Beyrodt (guitars), David Readman on vocals, Mel Gaynor (drums), Mat Sinner (bass) and Jimmy Kresic on keyboards.

“The legendary bands of the 70´s raised their best song ideas in extensive jam sessions and they possessed the gift to express something through the music. Nowadays this spirit seems to got lost somehow. Now I follow this “ideal” with Voodoo Circle. Back to vintage sounds, extensive jams of great musicians, sweaty live gigs and pure delight in playing.”
-Alex Beyrodt-

These are the bringers of the “voodoo vibes:

Alex Beyrodt (guitars) -Silent Force, ex-Sinner
David Readman (vocals) – Pink Cream 69
Mat Sinner (bass) – Sinner, Primal Fear
Mel Gaynor (drums) – Simple Minds, Gary Moore, Brian May
Jimmy Kresic (keyboards)

Guest appearances on the album:
Doogie White (Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen)
Rudi Sarzo (Ozzy, Dio, Whitesnake)
Norifumu Shima (Concerto Moon)
Richard Andersson (Majestic, Space Odyssey)

On December 5th the self-titled debut album will finally be available. Fans of the “old masters” like Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Yngwie Malmsteeen and Deep Purple, but also supporters of Silent Force, Pink Cream 69 and Sinner will be amazed by this Hard Rock jewel.
