I expected these guys to be a simple pub rock band in the vein of AC/DC. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Johnny Diesel and the Injectors has a sound that probably has more in common with John Mellancamp than with AC/DC. Johnny Diesel has a pretty good voice. His vocals have a slight bit of rasp to them. This really helps drive the harder rocking tunes on this disc.
There aren’t too many rock bands employing a saxophone player in today’s music. I love the saxaphone, and I think it adds a lot of character to the music on this disc. It often takes the emphasis off of the lead guitar, and even though Johnny Diesel is a solid guitar player, Bernie Bremond might be a better sax player.
There are several good songs on this disc including “Lookin For Love”, “Cry In Shame”, “Soul Revival”, “Don’t Need Love”. I really don’t think there is a bad song on this disc.
Something that surprised me about Johnny Diesel was the fact that there were several music videos released for this album (Check them out below). I don’t recall seeing any of these on MTV back when the station played videos. It is a real shame too. This album could have been huge in the United States, if was given a little bit of support.
You can practically steal this disc off of Amazon.com. If you are looking for something different to enhance your playlist, you ought to give Johnny Diesel & The Injectors a look. This disc was a nice surprise for me. I have enjoyed this disc quite a bit, and I think a bunch of you will to.

“UNHOLY ALLIANCE TOUR, CHAPTER III” LAUNCHES ITS FIRST 2008 ASSAULT WITH METAL HAMMER SPONSORED UK DATES
BILL FEATURES SLAYER, TRIVIUM, MASTODON
The UK leg of the mighty “Unholy Alliance Tour, Chapter III” kicks off in Manchester, England on October 27. This third instalment of what has been hailed as “the heaviest, darkest tour of the year,” the “Unholy Alliance Tour, Chapter III” will feature Slayer, the undisputed kings of extreme speed/thrash metal, and two true princes of the genre, Trivium and Mastodon. An opening act will be announced shortly. While Slayer will close all of the shows, they will be co-billed with Trivium on the UK dates.
27 Manchester Apollo, Manchester, England
28 Wolverhampton Civic Birmingham, England
30 Hammersmith Apollo, London, England
31 Hammersmith Apollo, London, England
2nd CIA, Cardiff
3rd Academy, Glasgow
The Unholy Alliance tour first launched in Fall, 2004 with a European edition that featured Slipknot, Slayer, Mastodon and Hatebreed. The venture was so successful, the first North American trek, dubbed “The Unholy Alliance Tour, Chapter II: Preaching to The Perverted,” kicked off in Summer, 2006 with Slayer, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Mastodon, and Thine Eyes Bleed stomping and screaming its way to 30 U.S. and Canadian cities. The European run of “Unholy Alliance Tour, Chapter II” took place in Fall, 2006, featuring Slayer, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, and Thing Eyes Bleed.
A journalist once wrote of Slayer, “If Thomas Jefferson were alive today, he undoubtedly would be listening to Slayer.” Indeed, in the beginning, when there were no blueprints, no set paths, no boundaries or steps to follow, SLAYER assaulted the world with its new hybrid of metal and punk. Heavier, faster and darker than the rest, Slayer set the new standard which all others continue to follow. Slayer is the band that all other heavy acts are measured against, defining not only a genre but an attitude. For more than two-and-a-half decades, Slayer’s onslaught of sheer brutality has proven them to be the supreme thrash-metal band on the planet. Entire countries have banned their music, NARAS has graced them with two Grammy Awards. Slayer is currently writing material for a new album, release date to be determined.
Orlando, FL heavy metallers TRIVIUM are delighted to be co-headlining with SLAYER on the UK leg of this year’s colossal UNHOLY ALLIANCE tour. Having performed over 600 shows in the last 36 months alone, Trivium are no strangers to the stage and life on the road. Last year, the worldwide million-selling band toured extensively with Machine Head, co-headlining the impressive Black Crusade tour, as well as finding time to play shows with the legendary Iron Maiden amongst others. Since then, they have been hard at work on their next studio album for Roadrunner Records, due for release on September 29, 2008.
Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Mastodon have been critically acclaimed by almost every publication in the US and Europe. Their Grammy nominated album, Blood Mountain, the group’s third release, isn’t just unconventional, it’s surreal, progressive and unrepentantly heavy. Mastodon combined their favorite musical styles, including thrash, doom, prog and psychedelic metal to concoct something utterly original, undeniably devastating and irrefutably entrancing. They are currently in the studio with producer Brendan O’Brien recording their follow up to “Blood Mountain.”
Mastodon will also be returning to the UK in December to take part in The Nightmare Before Christmas at All Tomorrows Parties which is curated by Faith No More / Fantomas frontman Mike Patton and legendary rockers The Melvins. 6th and 7th December – Somerset, All Tomorrows Parties.

Canadian metallers Snake Eyes Seven disappeared from the scene as quickly as they appeared. Snake Eyes Seven released their debut on Chavis Records in 2007 and began playing U.S. shows only to return back to Canada abruptly due to tension within the band. Founder and chief songwriter Cole Stevens put the band on hiatus while sorting out the issues and decompressing from the turmoil created.
“It took a long time to get things up and running and in a blink of an eye it was over. Once we returned from the U.S. things deteriorated quickly. Members left and I wasn’t sure myself if I wanted to continue what I had started. It definitely took its toll on me mentally, physically and financially. As time went on I realized that I wasn’t going to let the negative influences in the old band keep me from moving ahead with my music. My batteries were recharged and it was time to start all over again. I made a call to Chavis and asked Bill if he was still in my corner. Knowing that he is, made me more determined to prove that this is for real. Then I set out to find the best musicians I could which took time, but I got them.”
The new SES line up is: Ken Stone (vx), Moscow (b), Johnny Bland (d), and Cole Steven (g).
Snake Eyes Seven hit the studio earlier this year with 13 brand new songs and Cam McLeod (White Wolf) producing. “This project is light years ahead of the debut. People are not going to believe it is the same band. Everyone in the camp is excited about the new material. All I can say is WOW! You just won’t believe it.” adds Bill Chavis
The band is currently finishing up recording and then it will be mixed before heading to L.A. for mastering. Stay tuned…
From Billboard.com, AC/DC’s “Black Ice” is flying off the shelves at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club, the exclusive U.S. retailers for the album that arrived yesterday (Oct. 21). Sources estimate the set sold 193,000 copies in its first day of sale, and could move upward of 800,000 in its first week.
This week, Wal-Mart set up “pop-up” stores in New York and Los Angeles to sell the album and offer fans the chance to play the AC/DC-branded version of the video game “Rock Band.”
At regular Wal-Mart outlets, AC/DC has its own store-within-the-store, featuring the band’s back catalog and merchandise.
“Black Ice” (Columbia) is AC/DC’s first new studio album in eight years. The group begins an extensive world tour Oct. 28 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
LIONSGATE RELEASES PUNISHER: WAR ZONE SOUNDTRACK WITH NEW SINGLE “WAR ZONE” FROM ROB ZOMBIE
Lionsgate is pleased to announce the upcoming soundtrack release to PUNISHER: WAR ZONE, from Marvel Comics’ latest film adaptation of fictional vigilante and deadly antihero Frank Castle. The lethal motion picture soundtrack features a powerful collection of A-list rockers including the first new music in 3 years from Rob Zombie in addition to heart-pounding songs from rock icons such as Seether, Slayer, Slipknot and Rise Against. The fifteen-track album attacks stores on 11/25/08. The film opens nationwide on December 5th, 2008.
The original track “War Zone”, written for and inspired by the film, contains the kind of raw, throttling energy that has made Rob Zombie a platinum selling artist. The song will also serve as the first single from the soundtrack. About his contribution, Rob Zombie said: “I love writing music for films, rather than just throwing them an unwanted B side or remix. This track was written exclusively for Punisher War Zone. A punishing track for a punishing movie.”
The record also features Slayer’s 2008 Grammy winning “Final Six” and current chart-topping singles from Slipknot “Psychosocial” and SeetherFallen”. The beatdown doesn’t stop there, with a broad mix of new and unreleased music that spans every niche of the rock genre, including unreleased songs by premiere punk group Rise Against and emo scenesters Senses Fail. Dan Trapp of Senses Fail had this to say: “We are super excited to be a part of the Punisher legacy… when we heard we were going to be involved, we all threw up in our hands out of excitement.”
Adding to the epic soundscape of PUNISHER: WAR ZONE is one lucky winner from the Lionsgate/Clear Channel “Unsigned Artist Contest” that was hosted last month. The contest attracted over 5,000 bands and millions of listeners. The winner will be announced on 10/24/08 at www.punisherwarzonemusic.com. Lionsgate Music President, Jay Faires adds, “teaming up with Clear Channel has been a phenomenal experience. The response to the Punisher contest has been incredible, and we are absolutely thrilled about introducing one of these talented unsigned bands to the world”
Providing extra ammunition to round out the album are emerging artists Kerli, and highly praised electronica duo Justice. This all adds up to make the PUNISHER: WAR ZONE soundtrack one of the most anticipated of the season.

The song will be included on the band’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled album which will hit stores in early 2009.

Two of the recordings have been recently released–“Shackler’s Revenge” debuted September 14 in the “Rock Band 2” videogame and “If The World” debuted October 11 in the film Body Of Lies.
“The release of Chinese Democracy marks a historic moment in rock ‘n’ roll,” said Irving Azoff and Andy Gould, Guns N’ Roses’ co-managers, “and we’re launching with a monumental campaign that matches the groundbreaking sound of the album itself. In the late 60’s Led Zeppelin gave us “Whole Lotta Love”. Then the 70’s hit and The Clash rang saying “London Calling”, and we answered. In the 80’s Guns ‘N’ Roses took us all to “Paradise City”. The 90’s came and so did Nirvana, saying it “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. Now it’s 2008 and along come Cirkus telling us Let the Madness Begin…and it has, look around folks!
Cirkus, slaps you in the face with Roux’d (vocals), Snetan (guitar), Maston (bass) and Ric (drums), the sound, the edge, and the image of hey-day rockers such as Mötley Crüe and Aerosmith. Their riffs are fast and hard with lyrics that unapologetically attack big city lights, fast women, and the media. Receiving rave reviews and critical acclaim from Europe to Southern California, Cirkus’s live performances win over even the biggest skeptics.
After releasing 3 successful EP’s for three years straight, Cirkus has just finished their full on frontal assault debut album titled “Let the Madness Begin” together with musical genius Chris Tsangarides, a Grammy nominated producer and mixing engineer for bands such as Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Bruce Dickinson and Yngwie Malmsteen. Let the Madness Begin is set for a US release on November 11th through Nightmare Records/Koch Distribution. It’s called a shock to the system and senses so what better way to describe a Cirkus attack than Let the Madness Begin. The songs, the sound and the quality of the album speak for itself.

HANOI ROCKS WILL BREAK UP BY THE END OF THE YEAR 2008
Hanoi Rocks have decided to break up by the end of the year 2008.
Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy feel that they’ve taken the band as far as it can go and now wish to go their separate ways. All commitments until the end of the year, including the UK tour starting in London on Halloween, will naturally be honoured.
In addition, the band has decided to say farewell to their fans by doing a final tour of Japan in the spring 2009 and immediately thereafter wrapping things up with a few nights at the legendary Tavastia Club in Helsinki, Finland where their career originally got started in the 80’s.
November 26th will see the timely release of the first ever career-spanning Hanoi Rocks retrospective: a 2-CD set titled “This One’s Rock’n’Roll – The Best Of Hanoi Rocks 1980-2008″.
The band wishes to thank all their fans, co-workers and business partners for their continued love and support throughout the years.
I enjoyed “Sinner” quite a bit, so I was anxious to hear what the Aussie King of the Badasses had in store for us, with his new disc “Judgement Day”.
Dave brought in his writing mate Mark Tinson to craft nine new tunes to get you rocking.
If you are familiar with the sound of Australian pub rock, then you will know what to expect with this CD. You get a bunch of hard rocking tunes with loud guitars that will get your blood pumping.
55 year old Dave Evans can still get in done in 2008. His vocals combined with the bluesy guitar licks of Ngariki makes this a fun disc to listen to. Guitarist Ngariki is a very good player, and his bluesy fretwork greatly augments the songs on “Judgement Day”.
Just listen to his playing on my favorite cuts “We Don’t Dance To Your Song”, “Little Headbanger” and “You Talkin’ To Me?”. He really kicks ass. I would love to see him handle these tunes in a live setting.
Bob Dylan, The Animals, Geordie, and countless other bands have covered “House of the Rising Sun”. Dave Evans doesn’t really add any new twists to the song, but I like his version.
I don’t think the songs on “Judgement Day” are quite as strong as Dave Evans last disc “Sinner”, but I still thought the CD was pretty good nonetheless. It is another solid effort from Dave Evans and company.
The two song clips below will give you a brief taste of “Judgement Day”. Check them out, and if you like what you hear, You can purchase your copy of “Judgement Day” at Chaos.com, CDWow or through iTunes!

SAW V, THE LATEST INSTALLMENT OF THE HORROR MOVIE FRANCHISE, HITS THEATERS OCTOBER 24
“Hello…I want to play a game,” those are the immortal words Saw’s sadistic purveyor of self-imposed twisted justice Jigsaw utters to his victims as they come to. And if you hear those words you’re soon to find yourself in a world of hurt. Back for the fifth installment of the Saw horror series this Halloween (in theaters October 24 to be exact), moviegoers will once again cringe in their seats as blood, guts and body parts are up for grabs.
And because every sick & twisted horror honcho needs an explosive soundtrack, Artists’ Addiction Soundtracks has compiled a list of incendiary artists such as Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Testament, and Revolting Cocks among the 14 tracks for the volatile digital-only release.
What started out as a “little” indie horror movie back in 2004 has turned into a juggernaut go-for-the-throat franchise so gruesome you want to turn away, yet so compelling you just can’t. And fittingly enough, the movie soundtracks have always been amicable counterparts assaulting the senses in a fashion that would make Jigsaw proud.
Adding to the sonic assault to Saw V is Charlie Clouser (ex-Nine Inch Nails), no stranger to the Saw soundtracks, with his cuts “Trap Attacks” and “What It Takes,” as well as Filter’s remix version of “What’s Next.” Other killer songs include: Testament’s “True Believer,” Ministry’s “Death and Destruction (Remix),” Prong’s “The Banishment,” Die Krupps’ “The Dawning of Doom,” Skinny Puppy’s “ugLi” and The Revolting Cocks’ “Wizard of Sextown.”
Artists’ Addiction Soundtracks’ Jonathan Platt says of the Saw V Soundtrack: “We feel that we have put together a collection of songs that really mirrors the chaos onscreen. All of our acts are big fans of the Saw series and were excited to be a part of the soundtrack and I think that energy really comes across.”
This Halloween belongs to Saw V!!
SAW V SOUNDTRACK:
01. Trap Attacks Charlie Clouser
02. True Believer Testament
03. Death And Destruction (Remix) Ministry
04. What’s Next (Remix) Filter
05. Thanks Again, Again The Almighty
06. The Banishment Prong
07. The Dawning Of Doom Die Krupps
08. Power Player Clutch
09. ugLi Skinny Puppy
10. Strangers William Control
11. Unlaced Emilie Autumn
12. Blood And Music Fixmer/McCarthy
13. Wizard Of Sextown The Revolting Cocks

2008 gave us two of the most highly anticipated albums in hard rock. One was Metallica’s “Death Magnetic”, the other is “Black Ice” by the Australian Kings of hard rock, AC/DC. Metallica pleased most of their fans with their new disc. Can AC/DC do the same?
In case you haven’t heard, Walmart has the exclusive release of this disc in the United States, and it hits stores as of 12:01 A.M. today (October 20th).
AC/DC must be out to make a statement that they want to rock. Check out some of the song titles on “Black Ice”. On this album you have “Rock ‘N Roll Train”, “She Likes Rock N Roll”, “Rock N Roll Dream”, and “Rocking All the Way”. That is a lot of rock related titles on one album.
If you haven’t heard “Rock ‘N Roll Train” on the radio by now, your radio dial must be stuck on an easy listening station. I like this tune, but I am thankful to say that this is far from the best tune on “Black Ice”. I do like this song a lot, and it is a pretty good tune to get things started on “Black Ice”.
The best part of the song “Skies on Fire”, is Angus Young’s fantastic fret work. This isn’t one of AC/DC’s best tunes, and it isn’t very memorable, but it is an OK listen.
“Big Jack” is a foot stomping, fist throwing stadium anthem that is sure to please. I hope this is one of the songs that AC/DC adds to their set list in their 2008 tour!
AC/DC will surely have another hit on their hands with “Anything Goes”. This song has a really cool, uplifting guitar riff that will help power this song on to the radio.
“War Machine” is the kind of song that gets me pumped up, right before I go into battle (online). I have heard this song quite a bit prior to the album’s release, and like this hard rockin’ adrenaline pumper.
A song that has been growing on me is “Smash N Grab”. When I first heard this tune, I felt like I had heard it before, but couldn’t put my finger on which AC/DC song it reminded me of. I still haven’t figured that one out yet. There are some subtle nuances to this song that give it a slightly different sound.
Man oh mercy, the guitar work on “Spoilin’ For A Fight” is AWESOME! Another excellent tune that could be another AC/DC classic.
“Wheels” is a short little bluesy rocker that could easily be the new official theme song of NASCAR.
The pace slows down a little bit with the song “Decibel”. This is a mid tempo foot stomper with some really cool bluesy guitar licks by Angus Young. At first, I thought Brian Johnson’s pronunciation of the word decibel was incorrect, but there are two different sounds for the word depending on the area of the world you live in. It still bugs me somewhat, but this is an OK song.
“Stormy May Day” has a really cool slide guitar riff, but this was another tune that I thought was just on the OK side.
“She Like Rock N Roll” is another really good anthem that could become another AC/DC classic.
I can’t get the song “Money Made” out of my head. If you listen to this song one time, you will find your self chanting “Work, Work, Money Made”. This tune is extremely catchy, and is another sure fire hit.
“Rock N Roll Dream” is one of those typical AC/DC songs where the main lyric is repeated over and over again. This song is one of the more average tunes on Black Ice.
“Rocking All The Way” is another fun bluesy rocker. Angus Young has this innate ability to take an average song, and turn it into something special with his awesome guitar licks. This is one of those kind of songs.
The album closes out with the title track “Black Ice”. This is another good tune with an ultra cool guitar riff. This is a very strong way to close out this album.
I think AC/DC fans are going to be very pleased with this album. Is AC/DC breaking any new ground with this disc? No, absolutely not. Have the guys lost one iota of talent or skill over the years? No, not one bit. Brian Johnson’s voice is as strong as ever, and the Young brothers are still playing some of the best guitar licks I have ever heard.
“Black Ice” is easily the best new AC/DC album since 1990’s “The Razors Edge” Start your week off right, and get to Walmart and pick this CD up! For those about to pick up “Black Ice”, I salute you!
You can now buy Black Ice through the Hard Rock Hideout music store at this link!

British metal legends SAXON will release their new download single, “Live To Rock”, followed by the arrival at the stores of their current studio album, “Into The Labyrinth”, as well as major tours to support both releases.
“Live To Rock” is available as an Internet download starting today (October 17), and SAXON will present the track live for the first time during the tour which will take Biff Byford and company alongside MOTÖRHEAD and DANKO JONES through England and Germany in November/December 2008. SAXON‘s new studio album, “Into The Labyrinth”, will be out on January 12, 2009 (Germany: January 9; USA: January 13). February 2009 will see the band embark on another major world tour, only one month after the album release.
“Into The Labyrinth” was recorded at the Twilight Hall in Krefeld, Germany, under the direction of Charlie Bauerfeind. SAXON laid down 13 new songs at BLIND GUARDIAN‘s studio, starting with monumental opener “Battalions Of Steel” through “Demon Sweeney Todd” and “Valley Of The Kings”, which both cover historic events, to the final slide guitar blues track “Coming Home” (fans are already familiar with the electric version of this track from SAXON‘s “Killing Ground” album).
“The new material was written in England and at my house in France,” Byford explains. “Stylistically, I would describe the album as an even balance between ‘Lionheart’ and ‘The Inner Sanctum’, a mix of powerful, in-your-face rock songs and pure heavy metal tracks. We’re very happy with the production and proud of ‘Into The Labyrinth’.”
Aestheticom‘s Bill Schacht, who has previously directed music videos for DIO, KING DIAMOND, AMON AMARTH, FATAL SMILE, LIBERTY X/REV RUN, ZAKK WYLDE and SISTER SIN, among others, recently completed filming footage for the “Live To Rock” clip.

Explosive Debut CD Sure To Arouse Passions Of Hard Rock Fans
Oakland, California–October 17, 2008–Melodic hard rock band Syrym today unleashed its monster debut. The self-titled album will initially be available on CD at CDBaby.com, as well as for digital download on iTunes, AmazonMP3.com, Rhapsody, and Napster. Syrym features the incredible guitar work of Babylon A.D.
axe-slinger Ron Freschi, the thunderous rhythm section of bassist Rich Talley and Babylon A.D. drummer Jamey Pacheco, and the gritty, soul-infused vocals of Jeffrey Winslow, and the music is tailor-made for rock radio, live venues, and blowing out stereo speakers everywhere.
The late Eighties and early Nineties provided a showcase for the catchy hard rock and hair metal of bands such as Motley Crue, Ratt, Lynch Mob, and Babylon A.D. In 2008, Syrym has picked up that torch and run with it, delivering big hooks and even bigger riffs–all with the groove and swagger of those aforementioned bands.
The 12-song debut album kicks off with “Foul Mouth Blues,” a slithering, angst-ridden, defiant declaration of the end of an abusive relationship. A demo version of the song, featured on Garageband.com, received honors in the Hard Rock category for Best Male Vocals, Best Guitars, Best Drums, Best Bass, Best Production, Best Lyrics, Best Beat, and Most Rocking Track.
“Warpath” tackles the topic of cancer from a unique perspective, describing the immune system’s rampage through the disease.
“Ugly On The Inside” turns the inner-beauty cliche on its head with lyrics that state, “They only see my disguise, they can’t see that I am ugly on the inside.”
“Brokedown” relates the tale of someone pushing a friend to get their life together before they end up six feet under.
“What I’m Trying To Say” is a father’s emotional attempt to tell his young son that the family’s divorce was not caused by anything his son had done.
Recorded at Hatrix Media Studios in Tracy, California, the album was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Freschi.
