0 THE JEFF HEALEY BAND IS LIVE IN BELGIUM ON NEW EAGLE ROCK DVD/CD PACKAGE
Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to continue its Jeff Healey Band archival series with the April 3 DVD-CD release of Live In Belgium.
Touring in 1993 in support of their Feel This album, The Jeff Healey Band hit The Peer Blues Festival in Belgium running! The double-disc package-which includes the show both visually and aurally-contains 12 tight, taut gems in Dolby Digital Stereo and Dolby 5.1. The songs are highlighted by Healey’s soulful vocals and his wild’n’wooly over-the-top electric guitar solos, played in his inimitable style on his lap like a dobro. His visceral, energetic performance sets the crowd buzzing right from note #1.
The 82 minutes fly by as Healey really gets into his signature cover of George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” as well as “Roadhouse Blues” by The Doors and some of his own classic tracks including “Angel Eyes” and “Full Circle.” Making this particular performance special is the fact that the trio is augmented by two backing vocalists and a keyboard player. This takes the presentation up to a whole new level as the band is, in effect, doubled. Besides the Feel This material, Healey performs tracks off his very popular See The Light and Hell To Pay albums.
Jeff Healey (1966-2008) was a Canadian singer/songwriter/guitarist of mammoth talent who fused a love of blues and rockin’ anthems into a jam-happy stew of crowd-crazy proportions. He could sing like an angel, sting like a bee on his axe and perform like he was born to do so.

0 EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT TO RELEASE AMBITIOUS FOUR-DISC JEFF HEALEY BAND BOXED SET
Full Circle: The Live Anthology With Three CDs and One DVD Lands November 1
Eagle Rock Entertainment celebrates the life of Jeff Healey (1966-2008) with the November 1 release of Full Circle: The Live Anthology, a beautifully packaged boxed set containing three CDs and one DVD. [MSRP $29.98]
Known as one of the great guitar players of his generation, Healey, blind since age one, played the guitar on his lap, pedal-steel style. His soulful vocals and instrumental dexterity criss-crossed genres with ease but his heart was firmly entrenched within the blues-rock tradition.
Three complete concerts, captured in stunning aural clarity (Dolby Digital Stereo) are represented in this incredible set. In 1989, the Jeff Healey Band supported its See The Light debut album by performing at the prestigious Montreal Jazz Festival. In 1991, the band toured Switzerland appearing at the St. Gallen Open Air Festival (on CD and DVD in this set). In 1995, after achieving international fame, they returned home to Toronto for a rousing hero’s welcome in front of a hometown crowd, in support of their Cover To Cover album.

4 The Jeff Healey Band – Live at Grossmans – 1994 (2011)
Jeff Healey is on the growing list of talented musicians who left God’s green earth, long before his time. His legacy left behind some incredible music for us to enjoy. In the case of the recently released Live at Grossmans, this may be as close to musical perfection as one can get! If you are a fan of killer bluesy guitar playing, you will not want to miss this CD.
The sonic quality of Live at Grossmans may the best I have ever heard on a live CD. I am not kidding!! Put this CD in your stereo and let this CD take you back to 1994, when Mr. Healey and band put on one amazing performance. The audio quality of this CD is so good, you will feel like you are there. After hearing this music, I wish I could have been. Jeff Healey’s performance is stunning, and his band is damn good as well. One might complain that the material on this CD isn’t his, but it is so well performed I could care less. Mr. Healey and company cover Albert King, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson and more. You will be hard pressed to find another CD with blues rock performed as well as the songs here. The fact that Jeff Healey can play like this, without the gift of sight is truly astonishing.
I am a sucker for the blues, but I unfortunately never had the chance to see Jeff Healey perform live. I am grateful that Jeff Healey left behind such an amazing live recording for all to hear. This CD is worth every penny you spend on it, and is highly recommended for all fans of rockin’ blues music.
You can listen to the songs from Live at Grossmans at this link. Check it out!

8 Jeff Healey 1966 – 2008
Canadian blind rocker Jeff Healey, who uniquely played his guitar flat on his lap, has died of cancer on the eve of his latest album release, his publicist said in a statement.
Healey, 41, died in a Toronto hospital of a rare cancer, retino blastoma, that he had fought since birth and which claimed his eyesight at the age of one.
“Visually, Jeff was an intriguing player to watch, because he played guitar — by any conventional standard — all wrong, with it flat across his lap,” his publicist Richard Flohil told broadcaster CTV Sunday. “But he was a remarkable, a virtuoso player.”
The Jeff Healey Band’s 1988 Grammy-nominated album “See the Light,” which included the hit “Angle Eyes,” sold more than one million copies in the United States.
He played with blues legends B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughn, and recorded with George Harrison, Mark Knopfler, and the late Jimmy Rogers.
At the time of his death, he was about to release his first rock-blues album in eight years, “Mess of Blues.” The CD will be released in March and April in North America and Europe, respectively.
Last year, Healey had surgery to remove the cancer from his legs, and later from both lungs. He also underwent radiation treatment and chemotherapy.
