0 Linkin Park Announces North American Tour Dates

Through their official website (www.linkinpark.com) LINKIN PARK has announced dates for their US tour, kicking off January 20th in Sunrise, Florida. Supporting Linkin Park on various dates on the cross continent trek are The Prodigy, Pendulum and Does It Offend You, Yeah?
Tickets to the general public will begin going on sale Saturday, November 20 but fans can go to www.linkinpark.com to learn how to get their tickets beginning immediately through a special offering on the band’s web site.
Prior to the 2011 US tour — which will be the band’s first since 2008, they completed a highly-acclaimed, sold-out tour of Europe which garnered rave reviews. Touring in support of their recently released album, A Thousand Suns, which debuted on top of the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, Linkin Park’s live show is a celebration of sound and vision — a transformative multi-media experience that befits the power of the music. The press has been buzzing about the most recent shows in Europe. The UK’s Guardian says, “The stage is decked out with giant screens, but it’s low and reaches right into the arena, giving simultaneous impressions of a spectacle and being ‘one with the fans,'” and London’s Evening Standard called the band’s 2 night sold-out stand at the O2 Arena, “exhilarating.”
The tour’s set list combines the biggest hits of the band’s career, as well as material from the new album, which has been described as a psychedelic journey that explores the conflict between technology and humanity. Lead vocalist Chester Bennington says, “The new songs work really well alongside the older stuff. Plus, there’s a strong, powerful message to A Thousand Suns, and we’ve transferred that into the show. Our aim was that we’re not just putting on a live performance, but something that’s visually spectacular as well.”
Linkin Park was just voted ‘Best Live Act’ at the 2010 MTV European Music Awards. As a special “thank you” to concert goers, included as a bonus with the purchase of every ticket, fans will be able to download a live recording of the show they attended by texting a code from their mobile phones that will be displayed at the venue. Additionally, one dollar for each ticket purchased will go to Music For Relief, a charity founded by Linkin Park to provide relief to victims of natural disasters and to bring awareness to solutions to the global warming challenge.
Joining Linkin Park on tour will be UK legends, The Prodigy opening the show from February 15th through 26th. Pendulum and Does It Offend You, Yeah? will be kicking off the tour on January 20th thru February 11th.

3 Twilight Motion Picture Soundtrack (Release Year – 2008)
When HRH was offered the opportunity to review the new Twilight soundtrack, I jumped at the chance. Any movie soundtrack that is capable of taking a huge bite out of AC/DC’s sales is something worth investigating. A quick look at the artists on this disc, and there aren’t many that fall into the hard rock genre, although Linkin Park and Collective Soul might come close. A quick listen of the CD, and I passed this disc over to the resident Twilight expert in my household (my wife). She has read the Twilight series of books, and is much more knowledgeable on the subject matter of this disc than I.
With that being said, the review below is written by my wife Bonnie, the biggest Twilight fan that I know.
Being a huge fan of the Twilight book (and the others in the saga), and being very impatient for the movie release date to get here, I was really excited to find out that Hard Rock Hideout would be reviewing the soundtrack. Unfortunately, that excitement faded pretty fast as I gave a listen. My first impression of the soundtrack was that it was a bit strange. I have now listened to it at least 20 times, and I still can’t find a better description for it. For the most part, the lyrics to most of the songs are just bizarre, but the music itself is pleasant enough that you find yourself listening anyway.
That being said, there are a few songs on the disc worth mentioning…”Leave Out All The Rest” by Linkin Park is by far my favorite, and was immediately. The flow of the music, the lyrics…it just works. I had never listened to Linkin Park prior to this, but I am definitely a fan now.
“Spotlight” by Mutemath is a catchy little tune that immediately has you singing along. Not hard to do considering the same lyrics lace the majority of the song, but even so, it’s one of the better songs on the disc.
Paramore has two tracks on the CD, “Decode” and “I Caught Myself”, both of which are likeable in their own way. The band has a distinctive guitar sound which adds to their charm.
“Full Moon” by the Black Ghosts reminds me of something by Manheim Steamroller. Different is the only word that comes to mind, but it’s nice to listen to.
The hottest vampire living, Robert Pattinson, aka Edward Cullen, also has a spot on the CD with “Never Think”. The guitar is very nice, and I read that it is actually him playing, but the lyrics are mumbled and hard to understand. I really wanted to LOVE this song, and even though it is Edward, and that sexy vampire accent of his, I hope his acting impresses me more than this tune.
Wrapping up, the movie has to be better than this soundtrack, or my months of excitement and anticipation will have been wasted time. As much as I wanted to enjoy this record, I found it to be unusual and slightly disappointing. Three or four of the songs on the disc are above average, but the majority of them leave me longing for a rainy day in the forests of Forks, and a chance meeting with a vampire.
Track Listing:
1. Supermassive Black Hole – Muse
2. Decode – Paramore
3. Full Moon – The Black Ghosts
4. Leave Out All The Rest – Linkin Park
5. Spotlight [Twilight Mix] – Mutemath
6. Go All The Way [Into the Twilight] – Perry Farrell
7. Tremble For My Beloved – Collective Soul
8. I Caught Myself – Paramore
9. Eyes On Fire – Blue Foundation
10. Never Think – Rob Pattinson
11. Flightless Bird, American Mouth – Iron & Wine
12. Bella’s Lullaby – Carter Burwell
0 Linkin Park Are Writing ‘Delicious’ Concept Album To Follow Minutes To Midnight
You could call Linkin Park a lot of things, but you could never accuse them of being lazy.
Frontman Chester Bennington’s back injury forced them to sit out their October tour through China, but it looks like the band is not slowing down anytime soon. It’s been just a few short months since the conclusion of this summer’s Projekt Revolution tour — featuring Busta Rhymes, Chris Cornell and the Bravery, among others — and already, Linkin Park’s members are planning their return to the studio. Even as their latest release, 2007’s Minutes to Midnight, inches toward the 2.6 million-sold mark, the band has been writing new material for months, Bennington said. Just don’t ask him what that material sounds like.
“Asking someone to describe what something sounds like is like telling a blind person to guess what I look like,” Bennington told MTV News over the weekend. “It’s almost impossible. I can tell you that it’s our first stab — and perhaps our only stab, depending on how good we do — at creating a concept record, so there are a lot of things that are going to either free us up in a lot of ways or restrict us in a lot of ways. In terms of describing what it sounds like … it sounds like peanut butter and jelly. It’s sounding delicious.”
According to Bennington, it was a friend’s idea to write a concept piece. Though he wouldn’t discuss the concept in detail, he said he was looking forward to the challenge.
“For me, you say the words ‘concept record,’ and the first thing I think of is theater or the opera or something,” he said. “There’s a story, and everything has to relate to that story. It sounds a little daunting to me, so, I think my confidence level will drop, but when it was presented to us by this friend of ours, we liked the idea. It was an inspiring idea, and it was something we could relate a lot of the things we like to write about to. It couldn’t have come strictly from us — an outside source brought it to us in a way that was exciting.”
Linkin Park plan to enter a recording studio before December to track the as-yet-untitled effort, at about the same time the band’s Road to Revolution: Live at Milton Keynes live CD/DVD is set hits stores on November 25. Bennington estimates that it will take six weeks to record the new album. He said the band would be open to working with Rick Rubin (who produced Minutes to Midnight) again on the project. They just haven’t yet decided in whose hands they’d like to put their first conceptual album.
Bennington has been working with producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Daughtry) on the debut disc of his side project Dead by Sunrise. He said he wrote all of the material for the band’s inaugural offering with a very specific mission in mind.
“I wanted to make sure the record was different from the Linkin Park record,” he said. “It’s not as hard as it sounds. If you take Mike [Shinoda] out of the equation — because I personally feel he’s created our signature sound — it automatically sounds different. It’s more of a standard rock record. There are elements to it where you can tell where the inspiration comes from, but it’s pure rock with melody.”
Dead by Sunrise — also featuring Orgy’s Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck — have been working on the LP over the last couple of years and should be finished tracking the disc sometime in early 2009, with plans to release the set in spring.
“I would say that, in terms of working with the band, it all works very similar to the way Linkin Park works,” he said. “I’ve written all of the songs personally, on an acoustic guitar, and we take it from its acoustic guitar level and build it. Whether it’s a heavy rock track or a ballad, or taking all the rock elements out and creating primarily an electronic-driven track, we do it together.”

0 Linkin Park’s “Road To Revolution” To Be Released November 24th
Linkin Park
‘Road To Revolution’
Released November 24th on Warner Bros. Records / Machine Shop Recordings
“Simply awesome… Every single aspect is nothing less than razor sharp, holding the entire crowd until the re-emergence of Jay-Z for a romp through tracks from the duo’s Collision Course album nearly two hours later. A genuine show-stopping performance” – Kerrang! review of the Milton Keynes show.
Multi-platinum two-time Grammy-winning rock band LINKIN PARK has announced a November 24th release date for ROAD TO REVOLUTION (Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros. Records), an action-packed CD/DVD set featuring seventeen of the group’s biggest hits recorded live in concert.
The double-disc set captures the band’s June 29th 2008 show at the Milton Keynes National Bowl during the sold-out European leg of this past summer’s Projekt Revolution tour. Linkin Park’s Projekt Revolution has become one of the summer concert season’s annual heavyweights and the Milton Keynes gig — played to a packed crowd of almost 50,000 people — was the biggest in the tour’s six-year history.
“Over the course of the past few years, we’ve played more than two hundred Projekt Rev shows to hundreds of thousands of fans, and while each of those gigs has been special, the Milton Keynes show has been one of the most memorable,” says Linkin Park co-lead vocalist Chester Bennington. “It was one of those nights where the band and audience come together as one, and we wanted to share that experience with the fans that couldn’t be there.”
ROAD TO REVOLUTION features hidden bonus tracks and includes exclusive, never-before-seen live photos. The CD/DVD set highlights a mix of new hits, including latest single “Leave Out All The Rest,” classic tracks such as “Breaking The Habit” and “Crawling” and two special performances—““Jigga What/Faint” and “Numb/Encore”—featuring Grammy winning rapper Jay-Z. In 2005, “Numb/Encore” was awarded a Grammy for “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.”
Check out the live clip for “Leave Out the Rest” here.
The full track listing for ROAD TO REVOLUTION is as follows:

”Crawling”
”In the End”

Linkin Park spent the summer touring with Projekt Revolution in support of their latest album MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT and the seventh best-selling album of the year. In addition to “Leave Out All The Rest,” MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT spawned four other top ten hits (“Bleed It Out,” “What I’ve Done,” “Shadow of the Day,” “Given Up”) and earned Linkin Park the title of 2007’s best-selling rock band, with worldwide sales of more than 6 million.
