1 LIZZY BORDEN Posts Recording Update!

Here´s an update from the LIZZY BORDEN camp:

“2010 was an amazing year for LIZZY BORDEN touring in Europe, Japan and the States with our “Appointment with death show“. The festivals and headline dates in every country were all very special to us in one way or another. This was all possible due to our very well received “Appointment With Death” record.

We created two epic video’s that aired on MTV (one of which was nominated for video of the year on headbangers ball) and a brand new stage show that proved to everyone that this was a new era for Lizzy Borden. The Appointment with death show and record took a giant leap forward into a whole new generation of fans all around the world. (Don’t miss our year end summary video). We are now in the writing process for a new Lizzy Borden record as well as new video’s and a brand new stage show soon to follow.

Because we do not wish to repeat ourselves we are taking our time with this new release to make sure we create songs that inspire us for the visual medium as well as our usual audio mayhem. This new record is already heading in a more (individual) song oriented direction, and it is my hope that we end up with at least ten new songs that can stand on their own and will be the soundtrack for our new generation of Lizzy Borden fans, all the while satisfying our dedicated fans who have been with us from the beginning.

We learned so much from last year in what you want from us from switching songs in and out of the set based on reaction, all of that is starting to feed into the writing for the new record. At one point last year we had seven songs in the set from “appointment with death” and the only complaint we had was to play longer! It is our strong desire that we have that same problem for our upcoming release.

Because we want this new release to be very special and something very different than anything we have done before we are on the hunt to find the right producer that can understand the misunderstood. Finding that “right producer” may be the biggest task we have at hand.

Having said all of the above, we can’t stay off the stage for too long or we will start to go studio-crazy, so you just may find us out and about playing shows in 2011 while we work on the new record, possibly here and there all over the world. Please check-in to our facebook fan page for upcoming shows and more recording updates throughout 2011.

We hope to see you all very soon!”

LIZZY BORDEN have added guitarist AC Alexander (WARRIOR, HATETIMESNINE) to the line-up on the upcoming European tour. The tour starts this Friday, August 6th at the Wacken Festival in Germany and ends September 10th at the Stockholm Rock-Out festival.

“AC played the Rock N’ America festival in OK, last week with us and was the shot out of a cannon ball of fire we were looking for.along with Dario Lorina this guitar team is second to none, and with Marten Andersson on bass and Joey Scott on the drums Lizzy Borden is all set to blast though the rest of 2010 and beyond. We are rehearsing and gearing up for what promises to be an amazing trek around Europe. Playing a different country almost every night is such a cool thing to do, something we have not done since 2008 and we all can’t wait to get on that plane!” – Lizzy

3 Lizzy Borden – Master of Disguise (Reissue – 2007)

  • March 23, 2007
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · CD Reviews I-P · Hard Rock Videos

Lizzy Borden Metal Blade Records recently reissued Lizzy Borden’s 1989 release Master of Disguise. This release is part of their 25th Anniversary Editions that are being released in 2007.

Per Metal Blade Records, the 25th Anniversary Edition Series are to commemorate 25 years of the LOUDEST, HARDEST, HEAVIEST and the very best HEAVY METAL on the planet, METAL BLADE RECORDS will re-release seminal Metal albums from artists that have and continue to shape and influence the genre.

Did Lizzy Borden shape and influence the genre? I can’t honestly say. If it wasn’t for some recent mentions of Lizzy Borden over at Metal Mark’s site, I don’t know if I would have picked this up. I can honestly say that before 2007, I have not heard any Lizzy Borden songs. For some reason, this is one of those bands that I passed over back in the day.

Metal Blade sweetened the deal by adding Bonus songs and a DVD, all for the price of a single CD. I stumbled on this on my last trip to the local records shop and decided to give this a shot.

Master of Disguise features some guest stars including David Michael-Phillips from King Kobra, and Big Cock, and Joey Vera from Armored Saint and Fates Warning.

Lead singer, Lizzy Borden reminds of Bruce Dickinson at time, but I think he sings at a higher register than Bruce.

The music itself is somewhat different from the hair metal releases of 1989. This is a harder yet melodic rock release that is almost glam in nature. Lizzy Borden fans call this the Lizzy Borden solo cd and not a true band effort. Either way is a solid hard rock effort that I am glad to have taken a chance on in 2007.

The highlights on this disc are the Iron Maiden like Master of Disguise, Love is a Crime, Sins of the Flesh, Never Too Young, and We Got the Power.

The bonus tracks Vampire’s Kiss and The Orchestra really didn’t add anything to the original release but are a nice pickup if you didn’t own this cd already.

Strangely enough, two videos that I never managed to catch during the 80’s MTV Head Banger’s Ball, were those below:

Love is a Crime

We Got the Power

Master of Disguise is one of those CD’s that gets better with every listen. This disc will appeal to just about everyone that is a fan of 80’s Hard Rock. This disc is a solid intro and may whet your appetite for their new disc coming out this summer. You can find more information on Lizzy Borden at LizzyBorden.com. or at their myspace page here.
