3 FNA RECORDS TO RELEASE A TREASURE TROVE OF RARE RECORDINGS FROM MAJOR ARTISTS THIS FALL!
Recordings from Roxy Blue, Gypsy Rose, Rock City Angels, The Godz, & Roxx Gang highlight Fall release schedule
While the first half of 2012 has been a little light on the new release roster for FnA Records, that doesn’t mean we haven’t been hard at work. In fact, the little elves have been working their asses off for the past 6 months prepping to put forth a firestorm of major releases this fall. And here we go!
Having been signed by Tom Zutaut, who signed Motley Crue and Guns-n-Roses, managed by the same management company as Motley Crue, and produced by Mike Clink who produced Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction, FnA Records is proud to announce the upcoming release of 3 bombastic albums by one-time Geffen recording artists Roxy Blue. Roxy Blue was being touted as “The Next Big Thing” with a powerhouse of talent behind them. Enamored were both Motley Crue and Kiss who stopped by to check out Roxy Blue as they prepared for the recording of their debut album, Want Some? The hype was enormous, but no one could’ve predicted the whole Seattle phenomenon. Another band whose potential was cut way too short. There will be two studio releases, and a live album that was recorded right before the band left to record their debut album. There are tons of unreleased tracks for the fans who could not get enough of this band. All three albums will be available for sale individually, or together as a package deal at a reduced price. Autographed copies and a super fan pack with a t-shirt will also be made available.
Second on the agenda and heading for a mid-September release is the album entitled Poisoned By Love by Gypsy Rose, a band who was one of the first to be signed by Kiss’ Gene Simmons to Simmons/RCA back in the days of MTV. This is surely to be one of the best melodic hard rock releases of the year. For those of you who thought that you would be forever limited to the one and only Gypsy Rose album, Prey, hold your hats…its time to enjoy another ride with lead singer Michael Ross and the gang. The album consists of nine tracks recorded from 1988-1992 and definitely shows a growth as to where the band was headed. Of special note are three killer tracks (Hell’s Kitchen, Free Me From Me, Too Many Pieces) recorded at the studio of Steelhearts Michael Matijevic. The bonus tracks will mesmerize and titillate. There are acoustic versions of the fan favorite tracks Poisoned By Love and Don’t Turn Your Back On Me recorded in Florida, as well as two reworked versions of the same two songs recorded in Canada. Rounding out the album are two tracks from the Michael Ross solo debut album. Again, regular versions and autographed versions with t-shirts will be made available.
Unfortunately, Rock-n-Roll lost one of its great ambassadors earlier in the season. We are speaking of course of Rock City Angels front man Bobby Durango. Bobby lived hard and lived the rock-n-roll lifestyle to the fullest, and while we all miss his unique vocal styling, FnA Records is proud to announce that there will be one last Rock City Angels album to complete the legacy of this bluesy frontman who gave us Deep Inside Your Heart. It is true that the band was currently starting preproduction for a brand new studio album, but nothing was ever tracked. So this album by the Rock City Angels, entitled Southern Visions, shall be the last. Southern Visions picks up where Midnight Confessions left off, and if you haven’t heard Midnight Confessions, do yourself a favor and head over to FnA Records (www.fnarecords.net) and pick up a copy. You won’t be disappointed, money back guarantee! Also being stocked by FnA Records is the bands very punk release, Use Once and Destroy.
The Godz are back! Yes, the band that was signed to Casablanca Records alongside Kiss, is set to release three more albums through FnA Records. Although the albums were slated for an early summer release, the albums had to be pushed back, and have been reworked so as to give maximum satisfaction to the listener. One of the most overlooked gems of the 1980’s was the hard-rockin’ Mongolians album by The Godz. While many saw this band as a product of the seventies and the jam scene, The Godz were able to reinvent themselves for Mongolians creating a much heavier sound that could rival that of any 80’s rock-n-roll outfit. The second album is called The Vault, and is just that, an album filled with 18 tracks pulled from the vaults of Eric Moore. Lastly, the third album will be a second disc of more rare and unreleased tracks recently discovered. If you are unfamiliar with The Godz, check out their long, rough and tumble history that has led to the band reaching cult status over the years. Hell, Metallica wont tour with just anyone now!
In late breaking news, Kevin Steele of Roxx Gang cleaned out his closet! Well, that’s not the breaking news, but what is newsworthy to all you hard-rocking glamsters out there, is that in the process, Kevin came across a never released, fully recorded album of material that pre-dates the Things You’ve Never Done Before/Virgin Records era Roxx Gang. It’s been reported that there are roughly a dozen songs, give or take, including some well-worked cover tunes. FnA Records has acquired the rights to this new album and will be releasing it as a companion piece to the mighty 3 disc box set, Boxx Of Roxx, that was released earlier this year. Regular versions, autographed versions, and super fan pack versions with a t-shirt featuring the popular Roxx Gang skull logo will be made available for purchase.
2 Roxx Gang – Boxx Of Roxx (2011)
The semi-famous, yet quite memorable, hair metal talent, Roxx Gang, have recently released a swan song box set titled, Boxx Of Roxx. This gem contains all the goods that a hair metal fan could want. The set contains a disc of previously unreleased rarities, a disc of live music, and a DVD of videos. Many may question whether a group that had such a short lived time with their original lineup (1989 – 1991) should be worthy of releasing a box set. What they would fail to realize is that Roxx Gang continued on, releasing several solid albums in the mid and late 90s after hair metal was left for dead.
While purists who love the band will be the first to scream that Roxx Gang is not hair metal (more of a hybrid of punk and blues), the music speaks for itself…this is hair metal. There are some bands that were never comfortable with the hair metal moniker (Def Leppard, Dokken, Bon Jovi) and Roxx Gang is one of those bands. However, it should not be deemed an insult to be labeled a “hair metal” band. In fact, it should be an honor. Listening to the rarities disc on Boxx Of Roxx makes it obvious that this is hair metal music and it is pretty darned good.
The disc of outtakes harkens back to the bands early days with unreleased radio edits of beloved songs such as “Scratch My Back,” and “No Easy Way Out.” These songs show up again on the live disc and videos DVD. Seeing as how they are the most cherished songs in the Roxx Gang repertoire, it makes sense that they would be contained on all three discs.
The real gems on Boxx Of Roxx are the recordings with original guitarist Eric Carroll who died mysteriously in the late 80s before the band gained their true notoriety. Boxx Of Roxx takes the listener on a time-traveling journey, spanning the entire career of Roxx Gang, but the three Eric Carroll tracks stand out as the ones with the most potential. They are, after all, the songs that got the record companies attention in the late 80s and rightfully so.
The live disc was recorded in Texas in 1989 featuring the bands most famous and beloved lineup. Ripping through their hit songs and early material, this live album gives us a taste of what a Roxx Gang show was like back in their heyday. Those fortunate enough to have seen the band live, witnessed a real treat, as Roxx Gang built their reputation on their live performances. It would have been nicer if the band was able to release this concert as a DVD for the set, but fans should be ecstatic with the existing audio to enjoy.
Overall, if you’re a hair metal fan, a lover of Roxx Gang, or someone that enjoys re-discovering some of the forgotten acts of the 80s, Boxx Of Roxx is worth the investment.

0 FnA RECORDS RELEASES ROXX GANG BOX SET BOXX OF ROXX Three Disc CD/DVD Set Contains Unreleased Studio Tracks, Live Recordings, Videos And Photo Archives From The Legendary Band’s Career
Roxx Gang were easily the most underrated, misunderstood band of the late 80’s and early 90’s. If ever there was a band that should have attained superstardom it was Roxx Gang, Virgin Records first American hard rock signing. Unfairly lumped in with the whole hair band scene, Roxx Gang truly had the makings to become one of America’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands. And for one glorious moment… they were. Their cult classic first album Things You’ve Never Done Before was a rock ‘n’ roll tour de force that had about as much in common with the L. A. hair wimps as a hungry shark does to a bowl of goldfish. Their incendiary live shows are still talked about today by those lucky enough to have witnessed them. Now FnA Records proudly presents a tribute to this phenomenal band with the 3 disc set Boxx Of Roxx . Disc 1 is all rare and previously unreleased gems spanning the bands history from it’s earliest studio recordings to it’s fiery demise. Disc 2 is a never before heard bootleg of Roxx Gang live in Dallas, Texas from the Things You’ve Never Done Before US tour. Finally, Disc 3 contains all of Roxx Gangs video output from the MTV favorites “No Easy Way Out” and “Scratch My Back” to the uncensored, rated X “Startrip” video. This release stands as a testament to the raw power and visual splendor of one of America ‘s true unsung greats… Roxx Gang!
Roxx Gang exploded on the national music scene in 1988 as a hybrid mixture of rock, blues and punk that virtually defied classification. Their demo album Love ‘Em and Leave ‘Em earned stellar reviews on both sides of the Atlantic, out selling Guns-N-Roses and Whitesnake (the biggest bands of the day) in their hometown, and earned Roxx Gang a spot on the Top Ten Heavy Metal Albums Of The Year in Tower Records’ Pulse! Magazine. In a short space of time the Gang did a series of major label showcase gigs, garnered a huge international following, and were signed to Virgin Records. Their Virgin CD, Things You’ve Never Done Before, was released to great critical acclaim and coverage in the international rock and music press was extensive. The bands videos received airplay on MTV, they toured all over the world and Things You’ve Never Done Before went on to sell over 250,000 units.
Boxx Of Roxx covers the whole Roxx Gang history from the first recordings with guitarist Eric Carell, who died in a mysterious accident, to demos from the bands last recording sessions. All of the bands videos are released here for the first time including a performance of “Red Rose” from an early club gig. The box set also contains a fifteen page booklet of never before relesed photos from frontman Kevin Steele’s personal archive, liner notes from Kevin and a foreword from legendary UK author and music journalist Macolm Dome (Kerrang!, Record Mirror).
