1 Sammy Hagar – Cosmic Universal Fashion (Release Year -2008)
Sammy Hagar is back with his 16th CD, “Cosmic Universal Fashion”. This disc features guest appearances by the Cult’s Billy Duffy and Matt Sorum, and fellow Van Halen bandmate Michael Anthony.
If some of the song titles sound familiar, it is because “Peephole” was originally written for Sammy’s side project “Planet US” that never got off the ground. A different variation of this song can be found on the 2005 Soul Sirkus CD, “World Play”, although it is different from this version. This is a very cool, heavy and moody sounding track. The drums sound like they are going to crash out of your speakers on this song. Awesome!
“Fight For Your Right To Party” is a cover of the Beastie Boys classic tune. There are certain songs that just don’t need to be covered. Sammy tries to put a fun spin on this song, but it just falls flat in my opinion.
I liked the song “Cosmic Universal Fashion” when I first saw the video a few weeks ago. I can see this song being turned into a dance tune with its heavy bass beats.
“Psycho Vertigo” might be one of the heaviest Hagar tracks ever. This guitar riff on this song is wicked. I like this one a lot.
“Loud” ought to be an instant radio hit. This song is the kind of stadium anthem that requires maximum volume. This will like be a staple in Sammy’s live shows everywhere. It is a great tune.
Cosmic Universal Fashion closes out with a cool live treatment of the Van Halen tunes “Dreams” and “Cabo Wabo”.
The Bottom Line: Is this Sammy’s best CD? No, but there are definitely some good songs to feast your ears on. It sounds like Sammy had a lot of fun recording these songs, and that gives the music a very cool vibe. I think there is a little too much rehashed material on Cosmic Universal Fashion. If Sammy would have added a couple of more good original songs, it could have made Cosmic Universal Fashion a great CD, instead of just a good one. Redheads will still want to pick this one up!

0 LEGENDARY HARD ROCKER SAMMY HAGAR SET TO RELEASE COSMIC UNIVERSAL FASHION ON NOVEMBER 18TH
COSMIC UNIVERSAL FASHION IS THE FIRST RELEASE FROM ROADRUNNER IMPRINT, LOUD & PROUD RECORDS
Multi-platinum Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar will release his eleventh solo album, Cosmic Universal Fashion, on November 18th via Loud & Proud Records (Roadrunner Records).
The title track and first single, “Cosmic Universal Fashion,” was written in an online collaboration between Hagar and a young Iraqi band in Baghdad, with the music video produced in the same spirit as the classic Van Halen video for “Right Now.” The album also features a rousing cover of the Beastie Boys’ “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party).”
Hagar has led a storied three-decade career that has established him as one of America’s most beloved hard rockers, selling over 20 million albums and winning two Grammys. From his trailblazing early work with Montrose, to his prolific and popular solo career, his massively successful time with Van Halen, and currently as front man for his band Sammy Hagar and The Wabos, the veteran singer/guitarist has continued to make melodic, hard-charging rock that’s short on subtlety but long on punch and personality.
“’Cosmic Universal Fashion’ is not about
supporting left or right, blue or red, but rather
an attempt to appeal to people on a personal
level to get involved.” – Sammy Hagar

1 Chickenfoot Hits the Studio
As reported by Billboard.com:
After playing together live for the first time last February during a solo Sammy Hagar concert in Las Vegas, a new group featuring the ex-Van Halen vocalist, bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith is making an album.
“We were very excited about that show,” tells Billboard.com. “We had never played together before and when we walked off stage, we looked at each other like, ‘Wow, there’s a connection here. We should do something about it.’ So last week we were together for five days and we recorded nine tracks.
“As soon as Sammy and myself finish touring our separate solo tours we’ll reconvene in Northern California and finish the record,” he continues. “We hope to mix the album in January, have it ready for April and then we’ll follow it up with a tour.”
While the group was reportedly going to call itself Chickenfoot, Satriani said this was only a Hagar working title with a new band name expected closer to the release of the album.
“The style is high-energy, kick-ass rock’n’roll,” says Satriani, who is about to begin a stateside tour in support of his latest solo album, “Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock.” “We all bring to the table some unusual influences and then we also share a lot of roots. And I think that’s where a true color of a band comes out, just how we react to each other. So, it’s definitely rock music. We haven’t brought each other together to do a techno record.”
He adds, “We’ll draw from funk, blues and experimental. We know what we want to get out of it. We want passages in songs that develop and we want everyone’s personality to be able to come out. So, it’s going to be expansive but it’s going to be rough.”
If the band’s three-song performance, which included Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll” and Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy,” during the Hagar show encore is any indication, it appears that Smith is the glue that holds the unit together.
“The material is really slamming, and anybody who has ever been around Chad knows that he is a very huge personality, a very high-energy guy and his drumming in person is explosive,” Satriani says. “This band really gives him carte blanche to go crazy. I think it’s the best of what you’d expect, that’s the best way to put it. No one is acting out of character.”
0 Sammy Hagar’s Cosmic Universal Fashion Gets November Release Date
Sammy Hagar is the first signing to new Roadrunner imprint Loud & Proud, which will focus on established artists. His label debut, “Cosmic Universal Fashion,” will arrive Nov. 18.
The album’s title track was written online by Hagar with an Iraqi rock fan named Steven Lost. The cut and its accompanying video, an homage to Van Halen’s text-heavy 1992 clip for “Right Now,” can be samples on Hagar’s Web site.
“‘Cosmic Universal Fashion‘ is not about supporting left or right, blue or red, but rather an attempt to appeal to people on a personal level to get involved,” says Hagar.
The album also includes the song “Loud,” featuring the Cult’s Billy Duffy and Matt Sorum along with former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, and a cover of the Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right To Party.”
Hagar was most recently signed to Rhino, which issued his 2006 album “Livin’ It Up.” The set has sold 52,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

3 New Sammy Hagar CD in November
A new Sammy Hagar CD is on the way in November. XM Radio interviewed Sammy Hagar at the Rock the Bayou festival. Sammy mentioned that he plans to release a new CD in November. Some songs are already done, including one that Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top sings on.
Sammy mentioned that he has a couple of unreleased songs from his project, Planet US that he plans to put out, Peeping Through A Hole and Vertigo. I am not sure if this will be on the new record or released seperately.

1 Cabo Wabo Radio Launches Today
Sammy Hagar has accomplished many milestones over his long career in rock and roll, and he will unveil another big achievement on New Year’s Eve.
Hagar, who grew up in Fontana and became a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, has announced a revolutionary breakthrough in rock radio, “All Up, All Rock, All Party, All the Time” streaming online from Mexico to the world.
On Monday, Dec. 31, Redheads and music fans everywhere will be able to experience “Rock Radio the Way God Intended It,” Hagar said.
Hagar will be presenting “Cabo Wabo Radio” and a live party beginning at 7 p.m. Pacific Time from the Cabo Wabo Cantina.
From that night on, the party will continue 24 hours a day, live from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The online radio station, designed and built by co-founders Shadoe Stevens and Woody Nelson, will feature “high energy new rock, hot rock, cutting-edge, and classic rock around the clock,” Hagar said. The New Year’s Eve party will be broadcast live, featuring surprise guest stars in concert and hundreds of special guests from around the world.
“The coolest thing we can do is to expose fans to good music they’ve never heard before,” said Hagar. “If any radio station is going to get my attention in life, it’s going to be one where I’m going, ‘Who is this? I like that song. Wait a minute, who is that?’ I’ll listen to that radio station all day. That’s what Cabo Wabo Radio is all about!”
The new studios are built behind glass right next to the stage in the Cantina, making every audience part of every broadcast.
“The Cantina, an institution in Cabo for nearly 20 years and packed every night of the week, is the perfect location for the most exciting radio station in the world,” said Stevens. “People are there to party and we’ll be there to capture the excitement and deliver it to the world around the clock.”
The station will feature interviews with stars on vacation and interesting people from around the world, plus live concerts with major stars and hot new artists, Stevens said.
Hagar encourages fans to log onto http://www.cabowaboradio.com to become a V.I.P member. Members will get access to live concerts from the Cantina; concert videos, behind the scenes and unreleased videos; unreleased music and lost music from the archives; advance notices on new music and hundreds of pictures from shows from all over the world; and preferred tickets to Hagar shows.
