2 TRILLIUM “Alloy” – the new Metallic statement from Amanda Somerville; New CD Features Jorn Lande; Audio Samples Available!
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of “Alloy”, the anticipated debut album from TRILLIUM the new Metal Project masterminded by American Singer Songwriter Amanda Somerville on November 4th in Europe and November 1st in North America.
“Alloy” is an album that’s charged with emotion and exploration and a very personal statement from Amanda and certainly the listener can enjoy very different musical atmospheres on the album “Since I’m an eclectic and diverse person and musician, that certainly comes out in this album” says Amanda. “I think that the diversity is what is going to set this album apart from other stuff that’s out there right now. It’s got big choruses and epic symphonic hits, guitar solos you could imagine being played on a mountain top with an aerial camera view, but it’s also got a lot of soul added to the raise-your-fists-in-the-air-and-make-a-mean-face vibe”.
Musically TRILLIUM melts Rock and Metal in a new, interesting and different way from anything Amanda has worked on so far. “Alloy” is also graced with the talents of several musicians with whom Amanda had the honor of working in the past. Sander Gommans (ex AFTER FOREVER, HDK) and Sascha Paeth (KAMELOT, AVANTASIA, EPICA, AFTER FOREVER etc) were the main songwriters together with the American singer on this album. They have brought a lot to the project and have certainly allowed the sound to be a lot richer and stronger.
“Sander is all around an awesome songwriter and guitar player, and he’s especially good at coming up with riffs and movements of a song, while Sascha is a fantastic producer who can play any instrument there is – and play the hell out of it – and his sense of songwriting is really strong!” tells Amanda.
Other contributing musicians include Miro Rodenberg who did all of the orchestral and keyboard arrangements, Robert Hunecke on drums, Olaf Reitmeier on acoustic guitar, Simon Oberender on keyboards (and mastering). But more surprises are on this record: “Working with Mat Sinner on KISKE-SOMERVILLE established a solid professional relationship and I also found a good friend in him” says Amanda. “We co-wrote “Love Is An Illusion” together for this album and it was a pleasure working with him once again!”
And last, but in no way least, Jorn Lande has lent his epic voice to the song “Scream It.” Ms. Somerville tells the story: “I actually wrote that song with Jorn in mind not for his status in the scene, but because I absolutely love his voice, he’s a wonderful friend of mine through working together on Avantasia and he was the perfect “actor” to play the character in the song. And he nailed it!”
With touring plans in Europe in the first quarter of 2012 and a rousing excitement surrounding Trillium, you can bet the world is finally ready to enjoy the talents of one of the most interesting, creative and gifted singers and songwriters of today’s entire Rock scene.
“Alloy” will be exclusively released in a lavish digipak cd edition and will include the following songs:
Machine Gun; Coward; Purge; Utter Descension; Bow To the Ego; Mistaken; Scream It; Justifiable Casualty; Path of Least Resistance; Into The Dissonance; Slow It Down; Love Is An Illusion*.
*bonus track
While a videoclip for the song “Coward” is in the works, you can now enjoy a video presentation of the album following this link:www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7KQITdzezc

4 Ryo Vie’s 10 Best Hard Rock Albums of 2010
It’s that time of the year again. It is time to determine the cream of the crop, the best of the best. It’s time to figure out what were the best hard rock albums for 2010. This year brought some amazing albums to the rock fan. From Buckcherry to Ozzy to the latest from Hinder, it was quite a year. Several exceptional albums were released that will not be mentioned on this list. Alas, it’s a top 10, so only 10 can make the cut. And now without any further blathering, let’s get to the top 10 hard rock albums of 2010.
10. Iron Maiden – The Final Frontier
Sneaking in at number 10 is the latest release from one of the greatest rock bands ever. Iron Maiden put out another solid record this past summer in the form of The Final Frontier. Powerful, progressive, and deep, The Final Frontier shows Maiden evolving even after all this time. Dickinson still has a great voice and the triple guitar attack sounds better than ever. Iron Maiden is still a meaningful band in rock and The Final Frontier shows that this band still has a lot to say.
9. Airbourne – No Guts, No Glory
The sophomore jinx certainly didn’t hit this band. Back with foot stomping, hand clapping, bar room rock, Airbourne released another fantastic CD. With fast rhythm, heavy beats, and a rock and roll attitude, No Guts, No Glory is one of the best in show for 2010. Airbourne delivered more music that is bound to be enjoyed by many a metal head. If you’ve been seeking that hard and heavy AC/DC sound that has your foot stomping the gas, look no further. Airbourne’s No Guts No Glory is where it’s at.
Brand new to the scene, Black Sunshine released their self titled debut in 2010. They are a band that should go far in the industry if they continue making music like this. A modern rock marvel,Black Sunshine is a fantastic debut album that any hard rock fan should own. With themes of rebellion, the desire to rise above, and not wanting to be a wage salve, Black Sunshine sends a message that rock fans can relate to.
7. The Scorpions – Sting In The Tail
The Scorpions released their final studio record this past summer and it’s quite the swan song. Packed with riffs that rock fans have loved over the years, Sting In The Tail is another amazing record from this storied band. Hard rock anthems, meaningful ballads, and guitar driven classics are performed with grace and style. The Scorpions are leaving us with one of the best records they’ve ever recorded. Sting In The Tail has the band going out on top
Formed from the remains of Buckcherry, Black Robot released their eponymous debut with much anticipation. Leaning on blues over metal, Black Robot is a hard rock record that shows the other bands how to make great music. With amazing songs like “Badass”, a magnificent cover of “Cocaine”, and the Black Sabbath-esque “25 Days Of Night”, Black Robot proved their worth. Seeped in a wall of sound that penetrates the eardrums with musical pleasure, this is a record worth adding to your collection. and leaves the fans wanting more.
Another self-titled debut enters the top 10. American Bang’s debut record is another blues filled fun fest. Drawing on their inner Black Crowes, American Bang stunned listeners this year with a quality record. A southern rock sound mixed with a modern flair is what makes American Bang such a memorable disc. If the band continues to churn out strong songs like those on their debut record, they are going to have a long career in rock and roll.
One of the most well known legends of rock released a record this past summer that was so powerful it renewed my faith in both him and heavy metal. Scream is a magnificent album that blends the perfect balance of heavy rock songs, slow ballads, and mid-tempo hits. Scream is shrouded in darkness and power. This is an album where metal fans can feel the power and sing along with their fists in the air. Ozzy released such a strong record that there was no question of should it end up on the best of list, the only question was where. Packed with monster rock songs and outstanding ballads, Scream is a fantastic record from start to finish.
On his first solo album, Slash brought in a plethora of singers to help him craft a record worthy of bearing the guitar god’s name. The right selection was certainly made because Slash is a record that is so grand it’s hard to believe that it took him this long to release a solo album. Spanning all sorts of styles and influences, Slash has something for everybody. It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of scream along songs, soulful ballads, blues, heavy metal, or modern rock – they’re all on Slash. With great singers such as Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Iggy Pop, and Chris Cornell,Slash is one of those rare, must-own albums.
2. Hinder – All American Nightmare
Coming out late in the year and almost missing the party, Hinder had to release a monster record to be considered one of the best for 2010. Well, the band accomplished just that, and challenged strong for the best record of 2010. Alas, they fell just short. All American Nightmare is rock and roll done right. From heavy, foot stomping metal to sweet ballads, Hinder covers it all on All American Nightmare. This is the album that will push this band into the next stratosphere. I expect to hear a lot of Hinder on the radio in 2011 as All American Nightmare gets the attention it deserves.
Hitting me over the head like a baseball bat swung by Albert Pujols, Rock N Roll by Social Code is not only the best hard rock record I heard in 2010, it’s one of the best rock albums I’ve ever listened to. Packed with power, Rock N Roll is an album done right. This is what rock music should sound like. It’s also the way all albums should be crafted – no filler, just great music. Social Code has created a record that is destined for greatness and it’s an album that all hard rock fans should own. Rock N Roll is an absolute masterpiece and the best rock album for 2010.
And there you have it. Ryo Vie’s picks for the greatest hard rock albums released in 2010. I can’t wait to see what 2011 brings.

2 Ozzy Osbourne – Scream (2010)
Holy $%^T! That was my initial reaction when I heard the latest Ozzy album, “Scream,” for the first time. I’ll admit I didn’t have high expectations out of the gate, but holy hell, what a record! Ozzy has proven that he still has it and maybe never lost it to begin with. “Scream” is an album that renews faith in the current state of rock and roll and solidifies Ozzy’s status as a rock god. Make no mistake, “Scream” rocks hard and rocks right.
“Scream” opens with the dark, heavy, and so enjoyable song, “Let It Die.” This dark heavy track opens the album with a boom and sets the tone for all that is to follow. Ozzy’s vocals are sharp and tough and the guitar playing by new Ozzy guitarist Gus G is blistering and emotional. Sure, everyone is going to miss Zak Wylde, but Gus G is a healthy replacement that quickly poses the question “Zak who?”
“Let Me Hear You Scream” picks up right where “Let It Die” left off and a better track could not have been chosen for the album’s first single. “Let Me Hear You Scream” is classic Ozzy at his best. This fast tempo rocker will have you pumping your fist in the air and singing along in a matter of seconds. With a chorus of “go hard or go home” Ozzy delivers on this mantra. “Let Me Hear You Scream” does rock hard and it’s a track that will most likely have the repeat button being hit multiple times.
“Soul Sucker” is the darkest song on the disc. With a heavy, Tony Iommi guitar and doctored reverb Ozzy vocals, “Soul Sucker” could be something off the latest Black Sabbath effort. The song draws deep on Ozzy’s roots of demonic music and blends perfectly with his newer pop subjects of love and lost love. The end result is one of the best Osbourne songs ever recorded.
“Life Won’t Wait” the requisite power ballad slows things down, but not in a negative way. This song still rocks hard, even for a ballad, and once again Gus G has the opportunity to show off his chops and skills as Ozzy’s latest, greatest guitarist. Drawing from the “No More Tears” period, “Life Won’t Wait” is certain to be a radio hit in the next few months. It’s a lovely ballad that shows the softer side of Ozzy and even includes a meaningful message of going after what you want now as opposed to later.
The heavy, hard rocking hits continue. “Diggin’ Me Down”, “Crucify”, and “Fearless” are all hard rocking mavens that please the ear in ways that most songs can’t. Full of grit, shredding guitar, and signature Ozzy vocals, these tracks are monster rock songs that help shape and solidify “Scream.”
Overall, Ozzy has really returned with his latest album. “Scream” is an unexpected masterpiece and front-runner for hard rock album of the year. Ozzy should consider playing a lot off material off this disc during his upcoming tour, because the fans deserve to hear it, and Mr. Osbourne should be very proud of what he has accomplished on “Scream.” This disc will make you scream… for joy!

Grammy Award-winning rock legend OZZY OSBOURNE will lead Dodger fans in what will potentially be the Guinness World Record-holding longest and loudest scream this Friday, June 11 during the 5th inning break when the Dodgers play against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. As part of the third annual ThinkCure! Weekend at Dodger Stadium this Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12, Ozzy and his wife Sharon Osbourne, a cancer survivor, will lend their support to ThinkCure! This stadium-wide scream is also in celebration of Osbourne’s upcoming Epic Records album SCREAM, due out June 22.
During Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at 7:10 p.m. fans will be prompted to save their loudest scream for the middle of the 5th inning when Ozzy Osbourne and Stuart Claxton of Guinness World Records will take the field and lead the crowd in a “Scream for a Cure.” The stadium’s scream will be measured in length and audio level in hopes of breaking the world record. Additionally, Sharon Osbourne lent her support to ThinkCure! by recording a promotional message that will air in-game and during the telethon and online.
Fans can also donate to the ThinkCure! Weekend online at http://www.dodgers.com/thinkcureweekend and http://www.thinkcure.org, by calling (866) 554-CURE or by texting CURE to 50555 to make a $10 donation through their mobile phone bill. 1 Chris Cornell to Exclusively Streaming New Album On MySpace for 2 Days Only
With one week until record release, CHRIS CORNELL is giving his fans the opportunity to hear the album as it was intended-in full. Cornell will be streaming his anticipated 3rd solo album, Scream, produced by Timbaland, on MySpace for 48 hours starting at 12pm EST today, March 3rd till 12pm EST Thursday, March 5th.
Scream is a seamless work. Timbaland makes inventive use of Cornell’s soaring melodies and incisive lyrics, setting his intense vocal performances against a lush, expressive soundscape and irresistible stutter-step beats. The inventive new work looks to spearhead a brave new world of cross-genre collaboration.
The 13-track album is due out on March 10th via Interscope/Mosley Music. Chris is currently on tour in Europe and will kick off his multi-city US tour on March 28th in Dallas, TX. Scream showcases a new, seductive sound – dark, multi-layered and full of puzzles and surprises. The songs bring a new cinematic scope to Cornell’s performances, with potent visual imagery echoing the non-stop musical assault from his internationally acclaimed live band. “Musically, this is the most ambitious thing I’ve been a part of. It’s almost like a movie soundtrack,” says Cornell, who while on tour will also be playing other music from throughout his two-decade, 14-album career.
Out of a seemingly unlikely collaboration, comes an instantly familiar sound which defies genre’s and pushes the envelope of sound.
