The United States Congress created the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to lead a nationwide effort to remember America’s fallen firefighters. Since 1992, the tax-exempt, nonprofit foundation has developed and expanded programs to honor our fallen fire heroes and assist their families and coworkers. Their mission is to honor and remember America’s fallen fire heroes and to provide resources to assist their survivors in rebuilding their lives. They offer support programs for survivors, award scholarships to fire service survivors, help departments deal with line-of-duty deaths, and work to prevent line-of-duty deaths. www.firehero.org
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is dedicated to honoring all of America’s law enforcement heroes–those who continue to serve and protect and those who have died in the line of duty, including the officers who lost their lives on September 11th. That mission is accomplished through the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC, as well as programs such as Officer of the Month, Officer Roll Call and others. Today in the United States, some 900,000 law enforcement officers put their lives on the line for the safety and protection of others. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund invites you to learn more about the heroes of American law enforcement and join us in respecting, honoring and remembering them. www.nleomf.com

This marks the second year that the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival has joined forces with Child Find of America. “We’re incredibly honored that the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival is continuing their partnership with Child Find of America in 2011,” said Mark Delluomo, Director of Operations, Child Find of America, Inc. “Last year’s tour promoted safety and awareness as well as raising over $40,000 which went directly to program costs. All of us at Child Find are very grateful to the producers, bands and fans who so generously contributed. We’re also excited that UPROAR has given us another opportunity to let thousands of rock fans know more about us through their website, programs and press releases. Traffic to Child Find’s website and Facebook cause page spiked over the course of the tour and continues to be vigorous. Many people still don’t realize Child Find not only investigates and resolves cases, but also has programs that work to promote safety and prevent abductions. For example, we’re really proud of the Parent Help and Parent Help for Military Families programs which are designed to help dads and moms parenting apart to problem-solve their challenges – including such issues as visitation, custody and child support. This kind of publicity can change all that.”

0 HRH Live Featuring Nickelback
Earlier this year, I saw Saving Abel, Seether and Nickelback live. My wife is a Nickelback fan, and I honestly thought I was taking one for the team by going to see this show. My wife goes to see quite a few bands that she doesn’t care for, so I definitely owe her a bunch.
I like Saving Abel and Seether well enough. In fact, I saw Seether just a few days prior to this show. This was my first time to see Nickelback live, and I must say, I was pretty surprised by their show. It was like an old school 80’s rock concert. This band often takes a bad rap, but I enjoyed their show, and wouldn’t hesitate to go see them again.
I was able to capture a few clips from the show, including Nickelback’s performance of the Filter song,”Hey Man Nice Shot” with Seethers, Shaun Morgan.
Enjoy the clips below!
0 Saving Abel Launch Spring Tour Opening For Seether And Nickelback
Rock band Saving Abel will join Seether as openers for Nickelback on their North American tour beginning this week on February 25th in Nashville, TN Saving Abel’s largest outing to date will hit arenas in over 30 cities across the continent. Tickets are currently on sale through Live Nation (www.livenation.com).
“We’re thrilled to be opening for Nickelback. It’s crazy, a year ago we were playing small bars and clubs around Memphis and now we’re touring the country in a bus and will be playing with one of the biggest touring rock bands in arenas,” said Saving Abel frontman Jared Weeks.
Saving Abel have been on the road non-stop since the March, 2008 release of their self titled debut from Virgin records and have played with rock heavy weights such as Buckcherry, Avenged Sevenfold, Puddle of Mudd and Shinedown. The band has enjoyed impressive success with their chart-topping, multi-format smash debut single “Addicted,” which hit #1 at mainstream rock radio, spent 11 consecutive weeks at #2 on the active rock chart and reached #7 at alternative radio. At press time, the track is the most played song of 2008 at the active rock format. “Addicted” found a whole new life in July when it impacted Top 40 radio. The run away hit is now sitting in the top 10 at the format and is top 15 at Hot AC. While “Addicted” is topping the pop charts, Saving Abel’s second single “18 Days,” a huge rock ballad dedicated to the troops, is heating up at rock radio where it is already top 10 at active rock and top 20 at alternative radio. Videos for both tracks have witnessed major play across all video channels including MTV2, VH1, Fuse and Music Choice where “Addicted” is currently the #1 played video an their “Hit List” channel. Saving Abel continues to reach new heights on the sales charts as well. The album spent 3 consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart before debuting on the Billboard 200 in July. It has sold over 240,000 copies to date. ”Addicted” hit #20 on the digital singles chart and is approaching platinum success with over 800,000 singles sold thus far.
Saving Abel – named after the Biblical sibling of Cain – was formed by Jared Weeks and guitarist Jason Null in 2004 in their hometown of Corinth, Mississippi. Now based in Memphis, Tennessee, the band’s lineup includes guitarist Scott Bartlett, bassist Eric Taylor and drummer Blake Dixon. Combining influences of southern rock, hard rock and alternative music, the band was first heard on a 2005 EP, produced by Skidd Mills (12 Stones, Saliva, Submersed).

4 Safety Suit, Hoobastank, Seether and 3 Doors Down Concert Review
Broadbent Arena had Louisville music fans out of their seats and in for a long night, with four acts taking the stage last week for a jam packed evening of rock at its finest.
The show opened with Safety Suit, and not knowing much about them I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but these boys from Nashville came ready to perform. When the show started the arena was far from full but Safety Suit played as though it was a packed house, and lead singer Doug Brown had great chemistry on stage. One of the highlights of this set was guitarist Dave Garofalo, who owned the stage with his high energy and skill on his instrument. Safety Suit played a five-song set that closed with one of their more popular songs Something I Said. I came to this show not really knowing anything about this group but I definitely left a fan.
After a brief intermission and set change, Hoobastank was ready to follow Safety Suit and keep the energetic vibes flowing. This set was a great surprise for me because I have been a fan of their music for a while and had no idea they would be performing. Lead singer Doug Robb’s ease on stage and witty banter (encouraging the crowd to procure their album any way possible, even if it meant taking a friends copy) instantly drew me in and my focus never had a chance to wander. Hoobastank performed several songs from their new album FOR(N)EVER, including So Close, So Far and the albums anthem My Turn. I always get a bit nervous when I know I am going to hear a huge hit and favorite song live but I was not disappointed when they closed the set with The Reason, if anything Robb’s strong vocals made me like the song that much more.
The excitement was running high through the crowd at this point in anticipation of Seether taking the stage, and it continued to build throughout their set. To say the front man of a hard rock band has a quiet demeanor is an oxymoron, but that is what intrigued me about lead singer Shaun Morgan. He stood in the middle of the stage rarely moving from his mic stand and hammered out hard core lyrics like the average person having a normal conversation. His presence is almost mesmerizing because performing seems to be second nature to him while the rest of the band fills the stage with energy. Seether performed many crowd favorites such as Rise Above This and Like Suicide, but I was utterly floored when Morgan took the stage to sing an acoustic version of Broken. His voice filled every corner of the arena with perfection and literally left me speechless. This duet with Amy Lee became one of Seether’s most recognizable hits but after hearing Morgan perform it alone on stage with just a guitar, I will never want to hear it any other way. Their hard core music had the crowd on their feet dancing in the isles but it is that beautiful rendition of Broken that I took away with me.
A collective applause rolled through the stands as the lights dimmed and the sound of a train signaled the arrival of 3 Doors Down. The five guys from Mississippi, standing tall above the crowd on silver risers, lit by a red screen, opened the show with The Champion in Me and moved right into Citizen Soldier without pause. Excited fans crowded the sides of the stage and every inch of the isles as 3 Doors Down delivered hit after hit, showing off the bands staying power in today’s difficult music industry. The set list included Be Like that, Loser¸ and Away from the Sun to name a few, and the stage boasted an oversized screen playing videos and special effects that never once distracted from the performance. Lead singer Brad Arnold didn’t allow for much down time as he let each song flow into the next but his vocals were on fire and didn’t waiver throughout the night. The band’s 60 minute set was highlighted with the right energy, the right lighting and the right combination of hard rock hits and some of the crowds’ favorite ballads. These guys crammed in as many songs as their time allowed and put on a show none of us would soon forget.
It is such a cliché to say “that was a great show” but Tuesday night at Broadbent Arena was just that, a great show. Each performance built upon the last to create an exciting concert that I would consider to be one of the best I have attended in a long time. I walked away with a renewed appreciation for some old favorites and a fan of some new music. This was my first time seeing each of these artists live and hopefully it will not be my last.

5 Halestorm, Black Stone Cherry and Seether Concert Review
Last Sunday night, I attended the Halestorm, Black Stone Cherry, and Seether concert at Bogart’s in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Black Stone Cherry was the main draw for me on this night. I have been wanting to catch them live ever since their last album dropped. They had visited my area last October, but I wasn’t able to attend that show. I have been disappointed ever since.
Central Pennsylvania’s Halestorm took the stage first, and I had no expectations with this band. We recently had a press release on this band a couple of weeks ago, and that was my first introduction to Halestorm, as it may have been for some of you.
Much to my surprise, Halestorm kicked ass. Singer Lzzy Hale is a great new talent that is going to be turning a lot heads in the very near future. I am not a big fan of too many female rock vocalists, but her voice blew me away. She has some power and range to her voice that made quite an impression on me. As a whole, Halestorm was very good live. They played a few cuts off their new album that is going to hit in April.
Arejay Hale was pretty fun to watch, with his energetic drum work. In the middle of the set, the entire band did a drum solo. That was something new, and very cool to boot.
After their show, they employed some smart marketing tactics by selling their debut album for a mere $5.00. It had no cover art or jewel case, but did have the tunes that will be released to the public for sale in April. They walked through the sold out crowd selling a ton of CD’s after their show. Halestorm might be onto something. If CD’s were offered at a greatly reduced price (like $5.00), wouldn’t you rather buy it and help out the band, than steal it online?! Regardless, Halestorm will be a band to watch in the future. I will be catching them again in March, when they come back to open for Shinedown.
Black Stone Cherry was the second on the bill, and much like the previous two times I have seen them live, they came out and kicked some serious ass. They played several cuts off of their debut record, as well as their new disc, “Folklore & Superstition”. The set list included the following songs in no certain order:
Lonely Train, Peace is Free, Blind Man, Rain Wizard, Maybe Someday, and Please Come In. It was far too short of a set in my opinion. I will be glad when BSC have enough material to headline some shows. I could definitely handle a two hour set with these guys.
Guitarist Ben Wells never stood still for a second. He is one hell of an energetic guitar player. Jon Fred Young still reminds me of a young Tommy Aldridge on the drums. Singer Chris Robertson was in fine vocal form all night. As a whole, Black Stone Cherry brought it once more. I am guessing that they made a whole lot of new fans after tonight’s show. I hope they come back soon!
Seether took the stage around 10 P.M. and the crowd was completely charged up, with thanks to Halestorm and Black Stone Cherry.
This was my first time seeing Seether live. I was pretty amazed at how big their fan base was. 99% of the people at Bogart’s were there to see Seether. The people were packed in like sardines. There was no place left to move or stand by the time Seether started.
Seether played for about an hour and fifteen minutes, and played the following songs:
No Jesus Christ, Needles, Fine Again, Driven Under, Broken, Nutshell, Gasoline, The Gift, Careless Whisper (Wham Cover), Breakdown, Rise Above This, FMLYHM, Fake It, and Remedy
For me, the highlight of the set, was when singer Shaun Morgan, brought out Lzzy Hale to sing on the tune Broken. This is the song that has the vocal parts sung by Amy Lee of Evanescence. In my opinion, Lzzy Hale added more power to the song with her vocals. If only Seether could re-record this song. Shaun mentioned that he though she was better than that other bitch. =)
The crowd was great, Bogart’s was packed (and hotter than hell). I thought the lighting and sound for Seether kind of sucked, but as a whole it was a very good night of rock and roll in Cincinnati. I enjoyed the show, and I am looking forward to seeing Seether again (which I will be doing this Friday).
The clips below are not the greatest, but at least it will give you an idea of what you missed.

0 Punisher War Zone Soundtrack (Release Year – 2008)
If you were one of the people that wanted to check out the Punisher War Zone movie, but missed it in the short span that it was at the box office, never fear! The movie will be released on DVD and Blue ray on March 17th.
The soundtrack for this movie is a pretty impressive mix of hard rock and metal. It features the first new Rob Zombie song in quite some time, as well as some great tracks by Slipknot, Slayer, Seether, and Static-X.
I have never been a big fan of movie soundtracks, but I found myself headbanging quite a bit to this disc. Some of the songs are extremely heavy and are not for the feint of heart.
If you haven’t picked up Slipknot’s new CD yet, this soundtrack features their new song “Psychosocial”. This is easily the best song off of their new CD “All Hope is Gone”. To my ears, this one of the coolest new heavy metal tracks to be released in recent years.
Not every song falls in the hard rock & metal genre. “Genesis” from Justice is a pop/dance music tune. “Showdown” from Pendulum falls closer to the techno side of the fence. It has a harder edge to it, which makes it quite listenable. These songs seem like an odd fit amongst so many hard rock and metal acts, but they do sound good when played loudly, and offers a good breaking point amongst the heavier tracks.
I can honestly say that I haven’t listened to Hatebreed or Rammallah before. Hatebreed’s style of metal reminds me a lot of Slipknot. The singer has an extremely coarse voice. The guitars are heavy and the percussion is very good.
Ramallah reminds me of a cross between Rammstein and Nine Inch Nails. It is interesting, but not essential.
If you are a fan of today’s metal acts, you will likely enjoy this soundtrack. To me, the first three songs on this disc are worth the price of admission. This is the only place you will find Rob Zombie’s “War Zone” making this a must own CD. You can listen to Rob Zombie’s War Zone at this link.

0 PUNISHER: WAR ZONE SOUNDTRACK FEATURES NEW SINGLE “WAR ZONE” FROM ROB ZOMBIE
LIONSGATE RELEASES PUNISHER: WAR ZONE SOUNDTRACK WITH NEW SINGLE “WAR ZONE” FROM ROB ZOMBIE
Lionsgate is pleased to announce the upcoming soundtrack release to PUNISHER: WAR ZONE, from Marvel Comics’ latest film adaptation of fictional vigilante and deadly antihero Frank Castle. The lethal motion picture soundtrack features a powerful collection of A-list rockers including the first new music in 3 years from Rob Zombie in addition to heart-pounding songs from rock icons such as Seether, Slayer, Slipknot and Rise Against. The fifteen-track album attacks stores on 11/25/08. The film opens nationwide on December 5th, 2008.
The original track “War Zone”, written for and inspired by the film, contains the kind of raw, throttling energy that has made Rob Zombie a platinum selling artist. The song will also serve as the first single from the soundtrack. About his contribution, Rob Zombie said: “I love writing music for films, rather than just throwing them an unwanted B side or remix. This track was written exclusively for Punisher War Zone. A punishing track for a punishing movie.”
The record also features Slayer’s 2008 Grammy winning “Final Six” and current chart-topping singles from Slipknot “Psychosocial” and SeetherFallen”. The beatdown doesn’t stop there, with a broad mix of new and unreleased music that spans every niche of the rock genre, including unreleased songs by premiere punk group Rise Against and emo scenesters Senses Fail. Dan Trapp of Senses Fail had this to say: “We are super excited to be a part of the Punisher legacy… when we heard we were going to be involved, we all threw up in our hands out of excitement.”
Adding to the epic soundscape of PUNISHER: WAR ZONE is one lucky winner from the Lionsgate/Clear Channel “Unsigned Artist Contest” that was hosted last month. The contest attracted over 5,000 bands and millions of listeners. The winner will be announced on 10/24/08 at www.punisherwarzonemusic.com. Lionsgate Music President, Jay Faires adds, “teaming up with Clear Channel has been a phenomenal experience. The response to the Punisher contest has been incredible, and we are absolutely thrilled about introducing one of these talented unsigned bands to the world”

4 Seether – Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces (2007)
Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces is the sixth effort by the South African rockers, Seether.
Seether has been a band that has been off of my radar for a while, but after listening to Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces, I can not ignore them anymore.
The first song I heard off of this disc, was Fake It. That tune piqued my curiosity enough to seek out this record.
If you like that tune, this record will hold no surprises for you, but I think you will be pleased by what you find here.
Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces is a modern hard rock record, that has several radio ready tunes. If you are a fan of bands like Hinder, Nickelback, or Daughtry, you will probably get into this record.
Seether isn’t breaking any new ground with this disc by any means. There are at least five tunes on this record that have hit potential, (Fake It, Breakdown, FMLYHM, Rise Above This, and 6 Gun Quota) and that should be enough for Seether to have a hit record on their hand.
This is a great sounding record, and whether you like the newer, post-grunge hard rock acts out there or not, you are going to hear a lot of these songs in 2008. I like this record, and I think you will too!
You can check out Seether at their myspace page here.
