0 Vie’s Verses – Shinedown May Be The Best Live Act I’ve Seen In Years
This past Saturday I had the pleasure of seeing the Carnival Of Madness tour with Hard Rock Hideout’s own Rob Rockitt. With some great bands on the bill and ticket prices being very reasonable, how could we say no? We got to witness: We As Human, In This Moment, Skillet, Papa Roach, and headliners Shinedown, for less than the price of a trip to the movies. Now that’s what I call bang for your buck!
And while all of the bands were exceptional in the live setting, headliners Shinedown really stood out for me. I had not seen Shinedown since 2004 when I watched them open for Van Halen as part of the Van-Hagar reunion. At the time, I barely knew who the band was, but I thought that they were good enough to learn more about. Flash forward almost ten years and I got to watch them as headliners for one amazing bill.
Shinedown’s current album, Amaryllis, is their best album yet and I ranked it as the 5th best hard rock album for 2012. And while their album is phenomenal, it is nothing compared to their live show. In short, Shinedown kicked my ass all over Cincinnati. From the opening notes of “I’m Not Alright” being played behind the curtain, I knew this was going to be a special night. When the curtain came crashing down, we were witness to a circus act of fire jugglers, some on stilts, some on unicycles, and some just walking. The flames lit up from the back of the stage and we could feel the heat in our seats. Rob and I simply started at each other slack jawed. It was one of the coolest openings to a concert I had ever experienced. And that was only the beginning.
Shinedown really worked hard to keep things upbeat and to keep the crowd involved. A huge video screen was the backdrop to their stage, and it frequently played all different sorts of videos as the band performed their hits. For “Enemies,” the band’s video to the song aired in the background, for “Adrenaline,” it was a whip riding drive through city streets at night, and for “Bully” it was the saddest and most touching moment of the night (more on that in a little bit).
Nothing but the hits were performed (and Shinedown has a lot of them), but it wasn’t just the hits that made their performance so memorable. It was the energy that the band performed them with. Every song they played came with an urgency like this was their only chance to win fans over permanently. There was no stopping Shinedown for this concert. Their passion, their energy, their desire, and their hunger were all evident and greatly appreciated.
When “Sound Of Madness” was performed as the first song of the encore, I was quite surprised. I was certain that it would have been the last song of the night. However, Shinedown saved that honor for “Bully.” The band’s performance of Bully was as strong and solid as the other 14 songs they played prior. However, it was the video on the screen that really jolted me and made me take notice.
I am not sure if anyone is familiar with the story of Amanda Todd (I certainly wasn’t). The quick rundown is that Amanda was a teenage girl who made the mistake of allowing herself to be seen topless online. From that moment on she was bullied and tormented by one disgusting man and several ignorant teenagers. Ultimately, it led to her suicide (after several attempts).
Prior to her suicide, she made a You Tube video, telling her story through handwritten cards that she then filmed. As Shinedown played Bully at maximum volume, the Amanda Todd video played on the screen. It was a touching, heart wrenching, amazing moment that left me breathless and near tears. It was Shinedown’s final act of a spectacular night. (If you would like to know more about Amanda Todd and her story, there is a Wikipedia page that you can check – just look up Amanda Todd on Wikipedia or Google).
I will admit that I am a little jaded with concerts in general. I attend a lot of them every year and tend to take some shows for granted, especially bands that I have seen several times. But every now and again, I see a band for the first time (or their first time headlining) and I am so amazed that I immediately want to see them again. That was the case this past Saturday with Shinedown. They immediately leaped to my top 10 bands list and I will be seeking them out in concert again. If Shinedown is heading to your town, I highly recommend that you purchase tickets for their show.

DATE CITY VENUE
5 Rob Rockitt’s Top Hard Rock Albums of 2012
Yes, it is that time of year again. Hard Rock Hideout writers, Rob Rockitt and Ryo Vie pick our Top 10 albums of 2012. 2012 was a solid year for hard rock. There were many great releases, and quite a few above average ones as well. Trying to pick the top 10 is always a daunting task each year. After a lot of thought, discriminating, listening and re-listening, I have finally made my choices. If you haven’t added the 10 albums below to your collection, you are truly missing out on the best of 2012.
The following albums almost made the cut in the top 10, but are definitely worth mentioning.
Honorable Mentions:
RUSH – Clockwork Angels
ACCEPT – Stalingrad
Youngblood – No Retreat
Dokken – Broken Bones
L.A. Guns – Hollywood Forever
The Darkness – Hotcakes
Foxy Shazam – The Church of Rock and Roll
Papa Roach – The Connection
The Treatment – This Might Hurt
Jackyl – Best In Show
Bullet – Full Pull
Slash – Apocalyptic Love
Kill Devil Hill – S/T
SNEW – What’s It To Ya
Europe – Bag of Bones
Jack Blades – Rock N Roll Ride
Fozzy – Sin & Bones
Trixter – New Audio Machine
In This Moment – Blood
Testament – Dark Roots of Earth
And now for my top 10 of 2012!
10. Texas Hippie Coalition – Peacemaker – Texas Hippie Coalition released their third album Peacemaker in 2012, and in my opinion, in it is their best one yet. These boys are obviously still “Pissed Off and Mad About It”. Their anger has inspired a new set of killer tunes including “Hands Up”, “Damn You To Hell”, “Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll”, and “Paw Paw Hill”. Don’t miss this!! Check out the song “Hands Up” below.
9. Halestorm – The Strange Case Of – Halestorm’s latest effort The Strange Case Of isn’t without some cheesy tunes (especially if you have the version with the bonus tracks) but overall, it is a very strong release and Lzzy Hale has never sounded better. Check out the song “Freak Like Me” below.
8. Jettblack – Raining Rock – Raining Rock is no sophomore slump for the UK rockers Jettblack. It is a shame that this hasn’t had an official U.S. release. I am betting a lot of folks missed this one, and everyone who loves classic rock should check this one out. You can get it at Amazon.com.
7. Shinedown – Amaryllis – I loved Shinedown’s 2008 CD The Sound of Madness, so I was really looking forward to hearing Amaryllis. Amaryllis might be borderline when it comes to hard rock, but this is easily one of Shinedown’s best CD’s to date, and easily one of the best of 2012.
Check out the song “Unity” below.
6. Adler – Back From The Dead – One of the biggest surprises of 2012, is the debut album from former Guns N’ Roses drummer Stephen Adler. This CD has great rocking tunes, and no filler tracks. Adler outdid his former band mate Slash as far as new music in 2012 in my opinion.
5. Adrenaline Mob – Omertá – What happens when Russell Allen (Sumphony X) and Mike Portnoy (Ex-Dream Theater) join forces? They put out a damn find hard rock album that is NOT progressive metal. I think the non progressive style of Omerta surprised some folks, but give this one a few spins, and you can’t deny that this is a great album. Everyone should be talking about Mike Orlando, who is one incredible guitarist.
Check out the song “Indifferent” below.
4. The Cult – Choice of Weapon – With the Cult set on releasing time capsules instead of albums, I didn’t think we would ever have another new album from the band. Much to my surprise and utter happiness, The Cult released Choice of Weapon last May. In my opinion, this albums stands up to some of the Cult’s best work including Electric and Sonic Temple.
Check out the song “For the Animals”!
3. Charm City Devils – Sins – It took a few years for CCD to put out their second effort Sins, but I can gladly say that it was worth the wait. John Allen is a fine song writer, and pretty decent singer too. Sins leans more toward the modern side of hard rock but their isn’t a bad song on Sins. I love their remake of “Man of Constant Sorrow”, and have played the hell out of Sins in 2012.
Check out the song “Unstoppable” below.
2. Van Halen – A Different Kind of Truth – Everyone wanted to see David Lee Roth rejoin Van Halen, but it took a few years for the band to record some new tunes. I say “new” loosely with so many older demo cuts being used on A Different Kind of Truth, but as must people already know. OLD Van Halen is the best Van Halen, and A Different Kind of Truth is a great album. (And yes, I even like the song “Tattoo”.)
1. KISS – Monster – You wanted the best, you got the best!! Never in my wildest dreams did I think KISS would be able to put out another album as strong as Monster. I enjoyed their previous effort Sonic Boom, but Monster outshines that album by a mile. Easily my favorite KISS album since Revenge! This album is practically worth picking up for “Wall of Sound” all by itself. Hopefully KISS will tour for this album another year, and do more songs from it.
2 Ryo Vie’s Top Album’s of 2012
Ahhh, it’s that time of the year again. The end of 2012 is upon us. We’ve survived the prophesied apocalypse and now we can look forward to the dawn of 2013. However, before we can move ahead and discuss all of the great rock music that the New Year has in store, we must take a moment to reflect on all the brilliance that was delivered over the last twelve months. So, I am here to do my part. Below are my favorite albums from 2012. I can only hope that 2013 is just as rewarding.
#10 – Kill Devil Hill: Kill Devil Hill
There are few things more enjoyable than being blasted in the ears by the opening track of a brilliant hard rock record. With Vinny Appice and Rex Brown at the helm, you just know that good things are waiting. And good things are exactly what Kill Devil Hill presented. Loud, pure unadulterated, hard rock music delivered with a vengeance. This is doom and gloom meets modern rock minus all of the filler. Kill Devil Hill makes you want to rock out in your bedroom (or wherever you like to rock out) for hours on end. Once the album is over, it’s fun to hit repeat and let it play again.
You can read my full review of Kill Devil Hill here: http://hardrockhideout.com/2012/06/22/kill-devil-hill-st-2012
Album Highlights: “War Machine,” “Old Man”
#9 – Danko Jones: Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue
Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue made me wish I had paid attention to Danko Jones sooner. This is an album that comes equipped with a blues/rock sound full of sexual vibe, hard rocking music, and a whole lot of fun. From odes to the beautiful legs on women, to the joy of waking up to another day, Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue comes stocked with uplifting songs that make feet move and faces smile. This is an album that forces the listener to feel happy by the time it is over. This record is a great reminder that music doesn’t always have to be deep and meaningful with insightful thought put into every word that is sung. Sometimes music is just meant to be fun, and that is what Danko Jones captured on Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue — a whole lot of fun!
You can read my full review of Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue here: http://hardrockhideout.com/2012/10/16/danko-jones-rock-and-roll-is-black-and-blue-2012
Album Highlights: “Legs,” “Always Away”
#8 – The Veer Union: Divide The Blackened Sky
Still relatively new to the music scene, The Veer Union delivered a gem this year with Divide The Blackened Sky, a hard hitting, highly enjoyable, modern rock record. The Veer Union have captured the modern rock sound and delivered it flawlessly on their sophomore effort. Divide The Blackened Sky is rife with dark and gritty songs that touch on themes of pain, retribution, and ultimately, hope. The Veer Union did not shy away from the challenge of putting out a heavy, dark, hard rocking record. If you’re looking for some enjoyable modern rock to add to your collection, pick up a copy of Divide The Blackened Sky.
You can read my full review of Divide The Blackened Sky here: http://hardrockhideout.com/2012/04/16/the-veer-union-divide-the-blackened-sky-2012
Album Highlights: “Borderline,” “Inside Our Scars”
#7 – Bullet: Full Pull
Swedish Metal is great. When Swedish Metal is performed by Bullet, it’s even greater! Full Pull is the latest record from this band and it is grand in every sense. Exceptional guitars, heavy drums, and vocals sung by a voice that feels it is erupting from the soul of the Earth, all collide to make Full Pull an amazing record worthy of seeking out. If you haven’t checked out Bullet yet, Full Pull is a great record to introduce yourself to the band and their music. Part AC/DC, part Jackyl, Bullet is all great. If you like your rock loud and proud, you are going to love Full Pull.
You can read my full review of Full Pull here: http://hardrockhideout.com/2012/12/18/bullet-full-pull-2012
Album Highlights: “Full Pull,” “High On the Hog”
#6 – Charm City Devils: Sins
One of the best musical surprises of the year was Charm City Devils’ Sins. I had not paid much attention to this band prior to the release of this album, and that was probably a mistake on my part. Sins is a hard rocking, tempo driven, fun record to listen to. Fun is the most important word in that equation. Sins is just that — fun. If you’re a fan of old school hair metal or hard rock music that makes you want to sing along while stuck in traffic, Sins is the album for you. Perfectly balanced with hard rock anthems, loving ballads, and songs that strippers will be dancing on stage to for years to come, Sins is a terrific album.

Album Highlights: “Devil Is A Woman,” “Walk Away”
#5 – Shinedown: Amaryllis
Man, these guys just keep getting better and better with every release. With their first release, Leave A Whisper, Shinedown took the music world by storm with massive hits and potential. Their last album, Sound Of Madness, was a phenomenal record that really made me a fan of the band. When the follow up was released earlier this year, I was skeptical that it was going to be as good as The Sound Of Madness. Fortunately for fans, it turned out to be even better. Amaryllis is a hard rocking album that is a pure joy to listen to. From the opening notes of “Adrenaline” to the closing moments of “Through The Ghost,” Amaryllis is a fun ride of rock and roll.
You can read my full review of Amaryllis here: http://hardrockhideout.com/2012/04/06/shinedown-amaryllis-2012
Album Highlights: “Amaryllis,” “Bully”
#4 – Van Halen: A Different Kind Of Truth
With the return of David Lee Roth to a Van Halen album of all original material fans rejoiced, and rightfully so. This was a true gift given to Van Halen fans that waited years for the return of Diamond Dave. And while their tour may have crashed and burned, and the absence of Michael Anthony is noticeable, that still doesn’t diminish the brilliance of A Different Kind Of Truth. This is Van Halen the way they were meant to be and A Different Kind Of Truth is a great follow up to 1984 even if it came many years later than fans had hoped. Packed with plenty of Dave scat, wicked solos by the great Edward Van Halen, and a song style that could only be pulled off by this band, A Different Kind Of Truth is one of the greatest records 2012 had to offer.
You can read Rob’s full review of A Different Kind Of Truth here: http://hardrockhideout.com/2012/02/05/van-halen-a-different-kind-of-truth-2012
Album Highlights: “Tattoo,” “Big River”
#3 – Bruce Springsteen: Wrecking Ball
Okay, bring on the haters. Regardless of what a lot of people may think, I personally find Springsteen to be hard rock. He has all of the elements a hard rock band needs (heavy guitars, drums, solos, and an Us against Them mentality), so to me he’s hard rock. And since I find Springsteen to be hard rock, I get to put his latest album in my top 10. Wrecking Ball has done nothing but get better over the course of this year. While a lot of albums that are released in the early spring are long forgotten, Bruce’s magnificent Wrecking Ball is not. The record holds up well many months later and is still the highlight of my playlist for 2012. There’s a reason that Springsteen is the Boss—he knows how to write great music. Packed with nothing but potential hits, Wrecking Ball is a satisfying record and one of the best Springsteen has ever released. If he keeps making records this great, I’ll keep buying them, along with millions of other fans.
You can read my full review of Wrecking Ball here: http://hardrockhideout.com/2012/03/07/bruce-springsteen-wrecking-ball-2012
Album Highlights: “Easy Money,” “Shackled And Drawn”
#2 – KISS: Monster
Kiss released an album of all new material, the follow up to the amazing Sonic Boom. What’s not to love? Haters be damned (you know the ones that call Eric and Tommy scabs), this is a phenomenal KISS record. Yes, it could challenge any of the classics for top 5 Kiss record. Yes, it is even better than Sonic Boom. Yes, Tommy and Eric sound terrific on this album. Look, we all love Ace and Peter and miss them very much, but they are out of the band and fans need to let them go. This is the new incarnation of KISS, and as far as I am concerned, they are incredible in their own right. Monster makes me hope that we get more new KISS music very soon. Psycho Circus never made me feel that way. If you haven’t gotten your copy of Monster yet, well, what the heck are you waiting for?
You can read my full review on Monster here: http://hardrockhideout.com/2012/10/10/kiss-monster-2012
Album Highlights: “Freak,” “Long Way Down”
#1 – Dead Sara: Dead Sara
Let’s face it—when you listen to an album at least once a week since you received it, there is no way that it can’t be your favorite album of the year. Such is the case with Dead Sara. While I love Kiss’ Monster, Dead Sara beats it out. Simply put, I’ve never stopped listening to it. This album hit me hard from the first time I played it. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much because the record had been so hyped up by other bloggers, reviewers, and critics. Usually when an album gets that much hype it fails to produce the necessary results. Dead Sara, however, actually exceeded the hype. The last debut album that I thought was this good came from a band called Guns N Roses. Dead Sara has the opportunity to go down in history as one of the greatest rookie releases ever. Yes, the album is that fantastic. If you haven’t sought out Dead Sara, stop everything and order it online now. You owe it to yourself to start 2013 off with a bang!
You can read my full review of Dead Sara here: http://hardrockhideout.com/2012/05/11/dead-sara-st-2012
Album Highlights: “Whispers & Ashes,” “Test On My Patience”
0 Shinedown Score Sixteenth #1 With “Unity”; Multiplatinum Rock Band Tops the Rock Radio Charts With Their Latest Single; Non-Stop Live Schedule Includes Headline Tour and Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival
Atlantic recording group Shinedown continues to make rock radio history as their latest single, “Unity,” ascends to the #1 at Active Rock radio outlets nationwide. The track’s phenomenal success marks the sixteenth chart-topper of the multiplatinum band’s illustrious career and eighth consecutive#1 at the format.
“Unity” follows hot on the heels of the #1 smash, “Bully,” both of which are featured on the record-setting rock band’s explosive new album, “AMARYLLIS.” Released this past March, the collection debuted atop Billboard’s “Rock Albums” chart and at #4 overall on the Billboard 200 — Shinedown’s biggest chart debut thus far — with over 105,000 units sold its first week out.
The recent premiere of the official music video for “Unity” (http://youtu.be/_gVdi6sizeY) was followed by a special acoustic performance of the song on TBS’ Conan, which can be viewed now at http://teamcoco.com/video/shinedown-unity. In addition, the band has just unveiled a provocative new companion video heralding their next single, “Enemies” (http://youtu.be/OoHGZFyMCHU). Both clips are streaming at Shinedown TV, the band’s official YouTube channel.
Shinedown is currently trekking across North America on a major headline tour, with dates continuing through early August. The band will return to the road just two short weeks later, this time as headliners on the hugely anticipated Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival. The third annual rock extravaganza — which boasts a main stage line-up that also includes Godsmack, Papa Roach, and Atlantic’s own Staind — gets underway on Friday, August 17th at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, Kansas, and then continues through September (see attached itinerary). For up-to-the-minute details and ticket information, please visit www.shinedown.com/tour or www.rockstaruproar.com.
Shinedown is indisputably one of the most successful rock bands of the past 10 years, enjoying an unparalleled streak of hits. The band’s unprecedented ascendancy over multi-format rock radio commenced with their RIAA platinum certified 2003 debut “LEAVE A WHISPER” and its gold certified 2005 follow-up, “US AND THEM.” Together, both albums yielded seven consecutive top 5 radio hits, including the #1 blockbuster, “Save Me.” Released in 2008, “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” proved Shinedown’s mainstream breakthrough, debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200 before spending 120 consecutive weeks on the chart. The album made rock history, with each of its six singles reaching #1 on the airplay rankings, including the double-platinum certified crossover smash, “Second Chance,” which also went to #1 on the Hot AC chart and top 3 at Top 40. Shinedown’s numerous national television appearances include performances on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Today Show, CBS’ The Early Show, among others. In 2009, the band received an American Music Award nomination for “Best Alternative Rock Band.”
Shinedown is: Brent Smith (vocals), Barry Kerch (drums), Zach Myers (guitars), and Eric Bass (bass).

0 Shinedown – Amaryllis (2012)
When a band is recording the follow-up to one of the most popular albums of their career, the hype for the next release is always higher than it should be. Often times in these situations, a band tries to do much and either overproduces the art, or fails miserably in expectations. Thus, when Shinedown was set to release Amaryllis, the highly anticipated follow-up to their mega-smash album, The Sound Of Madness, the band was facing several of these aforementioned challenges. Fortunately, Shinedown found the middle ground where they could create an album that is enjoyable to the ears of fans.
Amaryllis kicks off with a three song punch that is a huge treat for any lover of hard rock music. The pulse pounding, foot stomping, rock song “Adrenaline,” kicks off the record in hard rocking style. The drums are crisp, the guitars are sharp, and the vocals from Brent Smith sound as great as ever. I’ve always been a fan of Brent Smith’s voice and he delivers immediately on the opening track.
The first single from Amaryllis, “Bully,” follows and packs quite a punch of its own. “Bully” is an anthem to a rising problem in modern day America that is starting to get a lot of media attention. Bullying is no longer going to be tolerated, and there are a lot of schools that have implemented zero tolerance policies to help combat this rising issue. Shinedown brings their own version to the party, singing about how the meek can overcome these bullies by banding together and deciding that they are no longer going to take the bullying. Anyone who has ever been picked on, made fun of, or otherwise humiliated, is going to feel great allegiance with this track.
The three pack ends with what is possibly the best Shinedown song ever recorded in Amaryllis. Every once in a while a song comes along that is so perfectly crafted that it can only be described as perfection. “Amaryllis” is one such song. The intro to the song provides a perfect lead up to the bridge, which then segues in perfect harmony to the chorus. With the addition of string instruments on top of the guitars and drums, Shinedown has produced a massive power ballad hit that fans and everyone else are going to love. The lyrics are expertly written and fit the music with a precision that can only be achieved when everything is in perfect alignment.
And while the rest of the album is strong, there isn’t one song that compares to “Amaryllis.” Overall, Amaryllis is a fantastic album, with hit after hit pelting the ears of the listener. Shinedown was able to overcome the high expectations that were laid on them following the success of The Sound Of Madness. They rose to the challenge and created a record that far exceeds their previous work. The only problem now is that they have set the bar even higher for the next record. Given the history of the band, I am sure they will be able to surpass that bar as well.

“AMARYLLIS” is quickly shaping up as one of 2012’s major rock events. “Bully,” the album’s striking first single, has already reached #1 at Rock radio, marking Shinedown’s 7th consecutive chart-topper at the format. In addition, the track is currently ascending the top 20 at Alternative outlets nationwide. The official “Bully” companion video — directed by Darren Doane, who previously collaborated with Shinedown on the videos for such blockbuster hits as “Devour” and “Sound of Madness” — has received early adds at mtvU and Fuse’s No. 1 Countdown. In related news, a viral video for the band’s second single “Unity” recently premiered on AOL’s Noisecreep. Both clips are streaming now at ShinedownTV, the band’s official YouTube channel (located at www.youtube.com/ShinedownTV).
Shinedown will herald the release of “AMARYLLIS” with a visit to ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight. The appearance will feature the first-ever nationally televised performance of “Bully,” live from the show’s famed outdoor stage (check local listings).
Shinedown hits the road as headliners on this year’s eagerly awaited Avalanche Tour. The North American trek — presented by Zippo and produced by Synergy Global Entertainment, Inc. — begins March 27th at The Grove in Anaheim, California and then continues through late April (see below itinerary). Accompanying Shinedown on the 2012 Avalanche Tour will be Adelita’s Way, with additional support from New Medicine (March 27th – April 10th) and Art of Dying (April 12th – April 25th). For full details and ticket information, please visit www.AvalancheTour.com.
Further live dates are scheduled to continue through early summer, including headline shows, European festival appearances, and co-headline performances at a wide range of rock radio-sponsored events. For up-to-the-minute news and information, please visit www.shinedown.com/concerts.
“AMARYLLIS” sees Shinedown joining forces once more with multiple Grammy Award-winning producer Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), who previously collaborated with the band on the record-breaking “THE SOUND OF MADNESS.” Recorded at Cavallo’s Lightning Sound studios outside of Los Angeles and a pair of Hollywood landmarks, Ocean Way Recording and Capitol Studios, the album was recently named among “This Year’s Best Bets” by Billboard, which noted the inventive addition of synths, a 27-piece orchestra, and a 10-piece horn section to the band’s powerful hard rock.
“AMARYLLIS” is currently available for pre-order in a variety of formats, including CD, digital, and 140-gram 2xLP vinyl. For more, please see http://store.shinedown.com.
Released in June 2008, “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” proved Shinedown’s mainstream breakthrough, debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200 before spending 120 consecutive weeks on the chart. The album made rock music history, with each of its six singles reaching #1 on the airplay rankings. Among them are such hits as “Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom),” “Devour,” “Sound of Madness,” “The Crow and The Butterfly,” the gold certified “If You Only Knew,” and the double-platinum certified crossover smash, “Second Chance” — all of which rose to the top of the airplay charts, marking an astonishing streak of rock radio classics.
Shinedown supported “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” with a wide range of live TV appearances, including performances on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Today Show, CBS’ The Early Show, and the 2010 NHL Awards show. In 2009, the band received an American Music Award nomination for “Best Alternative Rock Band.”
Shinedown’s unprecedented ascendancy over multi-format rock radio commenced with their RIAA platinum certified 2003 debut “LEAVE A WHISPER” and its gold certified 2005 follow-up, “US AND THEM.” Together, both albums yielded seven consecutive top 5 radio hits, including “Fly From the Inside,” “45,” “Simple Man,” “Burning Bright,” “Heroes,” “I Dare You,” and of course, the #1 blockbuster, “Save Me,” which dominated Active Rock radio for a remarkable 12 successive weeks.
Shinedown is: Brent Smith (vocals), Barry Kerch (drums), Zach Myers (guitars), and Eric Bass (bass).

Jonathan Davis of Korn says: “We’re excited to bring Korn‘s new show to North Carolina and we fully intend on blasting out the loudest set of new dope sh#t ever at the Carolina Rebellion!!!”
“It is an absolute honor to be the headliner at such an amazing festival. It’s been a minute North Carolina…It’s good to be back. We can’t wait to see the masses at the Rebellion!” comments Brent Smith of Shinedown.
“Along with AEG Live, Right Arm is beyond excited to unleash the Carolina Rebellion lineup,” says Gary Spivack, co-executive producerof the festival for Right Arm Entertainment. “Like last year, it was our goal to make sure the 2012 lineup was stacked from top to bottom. Three stages of non-stop rock ‘n roll and a Friday night party to kick it all off…The ultimate rock festival in the Carolinas. Let the Rebellion begin!”
General Admission tickets for Carolina Rebellion go on sale to the public on Friday, February 17 at 10am EST at www.carolinarebellion.com and www.ticketmaster.com. This year, Carolina Rebellion–which was called “this generation’s Woodstock” by Examiner.com–will also feature an extensive selection of Camping Packages, as well as a VIP Lounge ticket option to invite the ‘Rebels’ to spend the weekend on-site in Rockingham and create an unforgettable party. The packages will be available via the internet pre-sale as well as the public on-sale. With every purchase of a Camping Package comes FREE TICKETS to the inaugural Friday Night Campground Party! Based on 2011 attendee feedback, Carolina Rebellion organizers have implemented various upgrades and vast venue improvements to provide a premier concert experience at the multi-stage rock festival. The new centrally-located site provides plenty of space to expand, including more food and beverage stands, merchandise stands, restrooms and parking, and also offers more traffic routes to and from the event.
“When our fans speak, we listen,” commented Joe Litvag, co-executive producer of the festival for AEG Live. “We personally responded to every person who sent us comments, and because of that important feedback, our motto this year is ‘Let’s double it!’ Double the number of entrance points into the festival, double the number of concession stands, double the number of merchandise stands, and double the number of locations for free water…We’re taking the steps to make Carolina Rebellion an upgraded experience for everyone.”
In addition, all ticket prices will include parking to ensure quicker access to the parking areas, and earlier entry into the parking areas and will be allowed, along with earlier door times, to better alleviate the traffic and lines. The inclusion of the new Camping Packages will encourage fans to arrive on Friday starting at 10am and stay until Noon on Sunday, thereby relieving traffic congestion on Saturday.
Further improvements to amenities include: a larger box office area for will call pickup, shade locations in public areas and the Hangover Recovery VIP Lounge area inside the festival grounds to allow those with VIP Lounge tickets to have a special place to enjoy the event.
“Our sponsors mean as much to us as our fans do,” added Litvag. “And without the support of music-centric companies like Monster Energy, who present our two main stages at Rebellion, we couldn’t put a festival of this size and scope on for the people.”
Carolina Rebellion is also proud to be sponsored by Jägermeister, Hangover Recovery, and f.y.e. – for your entertainment (which will be on site selling CDs and DVDs and will host band autograph signings throughout the festival day). Carolina Rebellion is produced by Right Arm Entertainment and AEG Live, the same team that produces the highly successful Rock On The Range in Columbus, OH. 0 Shinedown sign to Roadrunner Records UK; New album announced
Roadrunner Records is delighted to welcome multi-platinum rock band SHINEDOWN to the family, for all territories excluding the USA (where they remain with Atlantic). In addition, Roadrunner and SHINEDOWN are excited to announce the much anticipated release of their new album, titled “AMARYLLIS”. “AMARYLLIS” will arrive in stores and at all digital retailers on March 26, 2012.
The first chance for fans to hear the “AMARYLLIS” recordings will be the eagerly awaited new single, “Bully” – coming to radio soon and available to buy from 22 January! The track is Shinedown’s first new music since seeing all six singles from 2008’s “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” go to #1 on the US rock radio chart.
SHINEDOWN frontman Brent Smith comments, “I’ve always seen Shinedown as its own entity – this living thing that’s been growing and developing and evolving over the past 10 years. During the recording, the vision of what Shinedown is and where it’s going became completely clear. ‘AMARYLLIS’ is the manifestation of that vision, the centerpiece of what Shinedown is. It reflects on everything we’ve done and where we’re heading. It’s a message of empowerment, perseverance, and inspiration that I think speaks to fans that have been with us since the beginning as well as those who are just learning about who we are and what we’re about. I can’t wait for the world to hear it.”
Recorded at Cavallo’s Lightning Sound studios outside of Los Angeles and a pair of Hollywood landmarks, Ocean Way Recording and Capitol Studios, “AMARYLLIS” sees SHINEDOWN joining forces once more with multiple Grammy Award-winning producer Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), who previously collaborated with the band on 2008’s record-breaking “THE SOUND OF MADNESS.” That album proved Shinedown’s mainstream breakthrough, debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200 before spending 120 consecutive weeks on the chart.
1 Check out Shinedown’s New Song “Bully”
Shinedown has released a lyric video for their song “Bully”. I thought their last album The Sound of Madness was brilliant, and this song gives me high hopes for another strong effort from the Shinedown camp. This song is now available for purchase through iTunes!
1 Shinedown Set to Release Live CD/DVD Collection; Multi-Disc Release Culls Material From Acclaimed “Carnival Of Madness” and Acoustic “Anything & Everything” Tours; “SOMEWHERE IN THE STRATOSPHERE” Arrives May 3rd
Atlantic recording group Shinedown has announced details of their forthcoming live, multi-disc CD/DVD collection. “SOMEWHERE IN THE STRATOSPHERE” will arrive in stores and at all DSPs on May 3rd.
The collection — which received its title from a member of the “Shinedown Nation” fan community — will include material filmed and recorded on Shinedown’s two epic 2010 headline tours: the inaugural “Carnival Of Madness” tour, in which they topped a stellar lineup of today’s biggest rock acts including Chevelle, Puddle Of Mudd, Sevendust, and 10 Years; and the highly praised “Anything & Everything” acoustic tour, which featured stripped-down versions of both chart-topping hits and fan favorites alongside intimate conversations with the audience about the stories behind the songs. The Jacksonville, Florida-based band has long been hailed as one of rock’s most dynamic live acts. “SOMEWHERE IN THE STRATOSPHERE” showcases both the energy of their electric show and intimacy of their acoustic sets with a CD/DVD dedicated to each tour (see track listing below).
Frontman Brent Smith: “The Carnival of Madness and Anything & Everything tours were some of the most intense and rewarding shows we’ve ever played. ‘SOMEWHERE IN THE STRATOSPHERE’ allows us to relive those special times with all the fans that came out, and share the experience with those that we didn’t get to see on the road.”
The pre-order for “SOMEWHERE IN THE STRATOSPHERE” will begin April 12th on www.shinedown.com. Every order includes immediate MP3 downloads of “Diamond Eyes (Live from Washington State)” and “45 (Live Acoustic from Kansas City)”. A Premium Pack will also be available, allowing fans to choose from the Standard or Deluxe album, plus a poster and t-shirt. The deluxe version of the multi-disc CD/DVD set includes an expanded 16-page booklet with the four discs each packaged in die-cut baby jackets and housed in a special box.
In other news, Shinedown recently made history when “Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom),” the latest single from their RIAA platinum certified third album, “THE SOUND OF MADNESS,” hit #1 at Active Rock radio outlets nationwide. In a truly remarkable feat, ALL six singles from the acclaimed album have now reached the top of the rock airplay rankings. What’s more, “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” is one of only two platinum-selling albums by a rock band on the current Billboard 200 chart.
Produced by multiple Grammy Award-winner Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 upon its 2008 release before spending 120 consecutive weeks on the chart. Since then, each of the album’s five singles prior to “Diamond Eyes” — “Devour,” “The Sound of Madness,” “The Crow and The Butterfly,” the gold certified “If You Only Knew,” and the double-platinum certified crossover smash, “Second Chance” — have peaked at #1, marking a genuinely stunning streak of rock radio hits.
Shinedown’s unprecedented domination of multi-format rock radio initially began with their RIAA platinum certified 2003 debut “LEAVE A WHISPER” and its gold certified 2005 follow-up, “US AND THEM.” Together, both albums yielded a staggering seven consecutive top 5 radio hits, including “Fly From the Inside,” “45,” “Simple Man,” “Burning Bright,” “Heroes,” “I Dare You,” and of course, the #1 classic, “Save Me.” Shinedown is currently hard at work writing their hugely anticipated fourth studio album.

Be on the lookout for future collaborations that are currently in the works, too. Like A Storm recently took time to shoot video for an “artist one-on-one” series with actor Eric Bossick, star of the upcoming movie “Tetsuo: The Bullet Man”, and directed by cult filmmaker Shinya Tsukamoto. The video series is set to debut early January. Like A Storm will also be having a “Storm the Dorm” contest during the Shinedown dates; fans will enter to win an acoustic performance from the group at their dorm during certain stops of the tour. Additionally, fans nationwide are encouraged to take advantage of their last chance to enter the band’s current Paul Reed Smith Guitar Giveaway contest. The winner receives an autographed guitar from the legendary craftsman.
With plenty on the horizon, LIKE A STORM is positioning themselves to be a mainstay force in America for years to come.

0 Logan – Cruel Little World (2008)
I first discovered the band Logan, when Irish hard rockers Million Dollar Reload mentioned them as a band that they have toured with recently. A few internet clicks later, and I stumbled upon another kick ass rock band from the UK. This unsigned band already has three CD’s under their belt, and have played with Alter Bridge & Bon Jovi, as well as major festivals in Europe. In the United States, they are largely unknown, but judging from the songs on Cruel Little World, that wont be the case for very long.
Logan’s third CD, Cruel Little World was re-released in 2008 with three bonus tracks, “Lost & Found”, “Grounded” and “New Way”. I would describe the band’s sound as a mix between Creed & Shinedown. It blows my mind that Logan is unsigned, as there are less talented bands touring the United States today. Cruel Little World is impressive collection of modern hard rock, that should be played on radio stations everywhere.
“Hallowed Ground”, “Out of Mind”, “Be Strong” and “New Way” are the heaviest cuts on this CD, and are easily my favorites. There truly isn’t a bad song in the bunch, and there are several hit worthy tunes on this disc.
You can check out the songs from Cruel Little World on Reverbnation at this link, and you can purchase it from iTunes at this location. This CD is going to be a mainstay in my play list, and it should be in yours too. Check Logan out! You will be glad you did!

0 Shinedown & Papa Roach Announce Co-Headlining Dates
Today’s Biggest Bands in Rock Combine Their #1 Hits for New Tour
Multi-platinum, 2009 American Music Award nominee Shinedown and multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated Papa Roach announce co-headlining dates. Two of today’s biggest bands in rock, each delivering #1 rock hits this year (Shinedown’s “Second Chance” and “Sound Of Madness” and Papa Roach’s “Lifeline”) will kick off the tour December 5th in Highland Heights, KY. Tickets for Highland Heights, KY, Erie, PA and Binghamton, NY are available now and additional dates go on sale this weekend. To buy, please visit: http://www.shinedown.com.
One of the most successful rock bands of the decade, Shinedown has amassed a staggering record of 10 consecutive top 5 rock radio hits over their 3 studio albums. The Jacksonville, Florida-based band’s latest single, “If You Only Knew,” is already #10 on the Active Rock charts and climbing, with the companion video in rotation at VH1 and Fuse. Last month, Shinedown performed the song on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and, later this month, the band will be attending the 2009 American Music Awards, where they’ve been nominated for “Favorite Alternative Rock Artist” alongside Kings Of Leon and Green Day. “If You Only Knew” follows the breakthrough success of “Second Chance,” one of the biggest cross over hits of the year with nearly 2 millions singles sold and going to #1 at Hot AC and top 5 at Top 40 after topping the Alternative, Active and Mainstream Rock charts. Both songs are featured on Shinedown’s current album, “The Sound Of Madness.” Produced by multiple-Grammy Award winner Rob Cavallo, “The Sound Of Madness” debuted at #8 on The Billboard 200 chart upon release last summer and has since been RIAA-certified Gold, spawning 3 consecutive #1 rock singles (“Devour,” “Second Chance” and “Sound Of Madness”).
“We’re really excited to combine forces with Papa Roach on these dates. Just like us, they bring it every night for their fans,” says Shinedown frontman Brent Smith. “I guarantee you this… it’s gonna be LOUD!”
Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix adds, “We are stoked to be touring with Shinedown, we have a lot of love and respect for them. It’s been a long time coming, be prepared, both bands are going to annihilate the stage.”
Known for their electrifying live shows, Papa Roach have been touring nonstop behind their new album and fifth studio recording, “Metamorphosis,” which debuted at #8 on The Billboard 200 chart earlier this year. Papa Roach is currently on tour with Australian sensation JET and fresh off the heels of their summer tour alongside Nickelback. Shaddix says, “Playing shows every night is what we’re built for. We make a club feel like an arena and we make an arena feel like a club.” Indeed Hit Parader raves, “Papa Roach’s live energy is like a pack of wild horses — unbridled and uncontainable.” “Metamorphosis” has already spawned the hits “Lifeline” and “I Almost Told You That I Loved You,” with “Had Enough” hitting radio now. “Had Enough” and many other songs on “Metamorphosis” address the current social and economic themes prevalent today.
Shinedown will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the tour to the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (CARD) at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. The hometown center works to educate and empower individuals and families through support, assistance and awareness within the community to optimize the potential of all individuals with autism and related disabilities. For more information about CARD, please visit http://www.shinedown.com.
Launching on this tour, Papa Roach has partnered with WHY (World Hunger Year — http://www.whyhunger.org) to support local and national efforts to end hunger and poverty. The band will be auctioning off special VIP fan experiences via http://www.paparoach.com including meet and greets, an interview with the band, side-stage tickets, soundcheck access and much more — with all proceeds going to WHY. In addition to raising money, Papa Roach will build awareness from the stage along their tour stops and visit local food banks and homeless shelters to lend support. The statistics are staggering: 36.2 million Americans are hungry and every day almost 16,000 children from around the globe die from hunger-related causes. Shaddix explains, “We’re proud to work with World Hunger Year to help those in need. We’ve been fortunate enough to have a voice and we want to use it by giving back. We encourage everyone to help out their local communities.”

0 Shinedown on The Today Show This Morning!!
Shinedown will be performing the band’s hit single “Second Chance” on The Today Show tomorrow morning! The show begins at 7AM EST on NBC and Shinedown should appear around 10:50AM.
3 Shinedown Unveil Headline Tour; U.S. Trek Kicks Off September 10th in Baltimore; Platinum Certified “Second Chance” Remains #1 at Hot AC for Eighth Straight Week; Band Set to Appear on “The Today Show”; New Single, “If You Only Knew,” Ships to Multi-Format Radio Outlets Everywhere
Atlantic recording group Shinedown has announced details of its upcoming headline tour. The much-anticipated dates will kick off on September 10th at Baltimore’s Powerplant Live, and then traverse the United States though an October 24th finale at Charlotte, North Carolina’s Uptown Amphitheater (see below itinerary).
The tour carries on the sensational success of Shinedown’s RIAA gold certified third album, “THE SOUND OF MADNESS.” The acclaimed collection is highlighted by the #1 smash, “Second Chance,” currently standing atop the Hot AC airplay ranking for the eighth consecutive week. The Jacksonville, Florida-based quartet’s biggest crossover hit to date, “Second Chance” has also topped the charts at both Active Rock and Mainstream, while reaching the top 5 at CHR/Top 40 outlets nationwide. After dominating the rock charts, the track’s mainstream success has seen the band’s profile raised dramatically — People magazine recently featured the band while Entertainment Weekly highlighted “Second Chance” in its “10 Songs of Summer” playlist by noting, “Every summer needs its shamelessly histrionic big-blast-chorus crossover from the modern-rock charts. Shinedown win this year’s prize.” The band will be performing “Second Chance” on NBC’s “The Today Show,” airing Friday, September 4.
In addition, the RIAA platinum certified single’s companion video has proven equally popular. The clip — directed by Ryan Smith (Eminem, Breaking Benjamin) — is presently in “Heavy” rotation at MTV and MTV Hits, “Elite 8” rotation at MTV2, and “X-Large” rotation at VH1, where it has gone to #1 on the network’s Top 20 Countdown numerous times.
As if all that weren’t enough, Shinedown’s most recent single, “The Sound of Madness,” continues to ring out at radio outlets across the country. The track currently stands at #2 at Mainstream, Alternative, and Active Rock, where it previously reached the #1 position. With the album’s lead-off single, “Devour,” also going to the top of the charts, Shinedown has earned the distinction of having all three singles from “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” become #1 Active Rock smashes. What’s more, the success of “The Sound Of Madness” marks Shinedown’s tenth consecutive top 10 showing at the format.
The next single from “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” will be “If You Only Knew,” slated to ship to Active Rock, Alternative Rock, and Hot AC radio outlets in late August. A companion video clip is currently in pre-production.
Shinedown — who recently performed “Second Chance” on CBS’ “The Early Show Saturday Edition” and NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” — is currently traveling the country as part of the “Stimulate This!” tour, set to run through late August. The four-band bill — also featuring fellow Atlantic artists Staind and Halestorm, along with Chevelle — was designed to offer hard rock fans maximum value at a minimal price. In a show of solidarity for their fans, Shinedown and their tourmates have worked closely with the concert promoters to create a package of exceptional value for ticket buyers. Through their collective efforts, base ticket prices for “Stimulate This!” remain mostly under $40 each — half the cost of comparable multi-band summer tour packages — with some venues offering lawn seats for less than $10.
Produced by multiple Grammy award winner Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 upon its release last summer. In addition to enjoying their biggest domestic cross-over success, the album also marks the dynamic hard rock band’s first foray into the international marketplace, where it has been met with incredible enthusiasm, particularly in the UK: “Shinedown deliver monster ballads Bon Jovi would be proud of,” decreed Metal Hammer, “and there’s an angsty crunch that can comfortably kick Disturbed’s arse.” “There’s little doubt that Shinedown are among the most exciting new bands around,” declared Classic Rock, while Kerrang! praised singer Brent Smith as “simply a masterful entertainer and frontman, a star.”
Fueled by the ecstatic popular and critical response, Shinedown recently crossed the Atlantic for a major European tour, including performances at such world famous festivals as England’s Download Festival, Germany’s Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, and the Netherlands’ Pinkpop. Following the tour, Kerrang! again waxed ecstatic: “The Florida quintet receive a headliners welcome for a set that combines pummeling metal riffery with suitable hooky choruses and a sense of showmanship straight out of the Aerosmith/Guns N’ Roses school of rock.”
“THE SOUND OF MADNESS” follows the band’s RIAA platinum certified 2003 debut “LEAVE A WHISPER” and its gold certified 2005 follow-up, “US AND THEM.” Both albums have yielded a staggering seven consecutive top 5 radio hits, including “Fly From the Inside,” “45,” and the chart-topping “Save Me.”
Shinedown is Brent Smith (vocals), Barry Kerch (drums), Zach Myers (guitars), and Eric Bass (bass).

0 Adelitas Way To Tour With Shinedown
Las Vegas rockers, Adelitas Way will hit the road with Shinedown this fall in support of their self-titled debut, which released July 14th on Virgin/EMI Music and debuted at #16 on Billboard’s Top New Artist Chart. The tour will kick off in Richmond, VA on Friday, September 11 and will work its way across the Midwest and West coast then travel back ending in Orlando.
To mark the release of its self-titled debut, Adelitas Way recently celebrated at the Palms Casino Resort in its hometown of Las Vegas on the album’s street date. A select number of fans who purchased their CD at ZIA Records along with local radio contest winners, gained entry to a private concert by Adelitas Way at The Lounge at the Palms Casino Resort and the after-party at Moon. Preceding their debut celebration, Adelitas Way appeared at WWE’s Monday Night RAW in Orlando.
The album’s kick off single, the power-rock anthem “Invincible,” has already been tagged as WWE Superstars theme song, been used for spots promoting the 2009 season finale of the hit series “CSI: Miami” and is currently available on iTunes. Since then, the single been streamed nearly 200,000 times on Adelitas Way’s MySpace page and is building national airplay as it climbs at both Active and Rock radio charts.
In support of the single, the band shot their video for “Invincible,” which was directed by Dale Resteghini, (Fallout Boy, Hawthorne Heights, Alter Bridge). Adelitas Way wanted to create an epic video that would awaken the fight in anyone who is in need. The video focuses on everyday people who are faced with life challenging circumstances, while delivering an inspiring message of hope and perseverance. The video will appear on AOL’s NoiseCreep.
Adelitas Way is fronted by singer Rick DeJesus, who grew up in a rough Philadelphia neighborhood that was ravaged by drugs and poverty. In 2005, he seized an opportunity to move to Las Vegas where he met up with lead guitarist Chris Iorio, guitarist Keith Wallen, drummer Trevor Stafford and bassist Derek Johnston. Soon the quintet was opening for artists like Chris Cornell, Hinder and Tantric, generating an impressive industry buzz that resulted in their signing with Virgin.
Produced by the Grammy-nominated Johnny K (Disturbed, Plain White T’s, 3 Doors Down), the band’s debut album is filled with hard, edgy modern rock anthems spotlighting the shredding blues style of teenage axe-slinger Iorio and the propulsive, grunge-like drums of Huntington Beach, CA native Stafford, a veteran of Ozzfest band Shuvel. N.Y. bassist Johnston and West Virginia guitarist Wallen bring a combination of indie, hardcore and classic rock influences to the band’s distinctive sound.
Adelitas Way, whose name comes from an unplanned visit to a Tijuana brothel, is currently on tour with Saliva and will head out with Sick Puppies on August 13th. You can check out first single “Invincible” and other music from Adelitas Way on the group’s MySpace page (www.myspace.com/adelitasway) and at www.adelitaswaymusic.net.

0 Shinedown Strikes Gold as “Second Chance” Explodes Into Top 10; “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” Certified by RIAA While Smash Single Blows Up at CHR/Top 40
“THE SOUND OF MADNESS,” the acclaimed third album from Atlantic recording group Shinedown, has been certified Gold by the RIAA, marking sales exceeding 500,000 units. The news comes as the band’s single “Second Chance” has just exploded into the top 10 at CHR/Top 40 outlets nationwide and is quickly shaping up to be the Jacksonville, Florida-based quartet’s biggest crossover hit to date.
Currently standing at #15 on Billboard’s “Hot 100,” “Second Chance” has already topped the airplay charts at Active Rock outlets, while also reaching #2 at Alternative. In addition, the single’s companion video is now in “X-Large” rotation at VH1, where it is the #3 clip on the network’s “Top 20 Countdown.” “Second Chance” is also in “Heavy” rotation at MTV.
As if that weren’t enough, Shinedown’s latest single, “The Sound of Madness,” is blowing up at Active Rock radio outlets across the country. The track’s top 10 success marks the band’s tenth consecutive top 10 showing at the format.
Shinedown — who recently performed “Second Chance” on CBS’ “The Early Show Saturday Edition” and NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” — is currently traveling the country as both headliners and as featured artists on a number of radio-sponsored festival concerts (see below itinerary). In June, the band will cross the Atlantic for a hugely anticipated European tour, including performances at such world famous festivals as England’s Download Festival, Germany’s Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, and the Netherlands’ Pinkpop.
Upon their return, Shinedown will team up with fellow Atlantic artists Staind and Halestorm for the much anticipated “Stimulate This!” tour. The four-band bill — also featuring Chevelle — is designed to offer hard rock fans maximum value at a minimal price.
Kicking off July 1st at Peoria, Illinois’ Peoria Civic Center, the “Stimulate This!” tour will hit more than 40 US markets, including some of the hardest hit by the recession. In a show of solidarity for their fans, the four bands have worked closely with the concert promoters to create a package of exceptional value for ticket buyers. Through their collective efforts, base ticket prices will remain mostly under $40 each — half the cost of comparable multi-band summer tour packages — with some venues offering lawn seats for less than $10.
“We’ve always said that we, as a band, only answer to one boss… and that’s everyone in the audience,” offers Shinedown’s Brent Smith. “It’s our job… our privilege to offer our fans an escape. Teaming up with these other great bands, we’re doing what we can to help lift everyone’s spirits in these tough times… the power of music can do that.”
Additionally, each stop on the “Stimulate This!” tour will include special promotions for ticket holders that will vary from market to market, but could include discounts on concessions at the venue during the show, store discounts at local retailers, and online rebates for band merchandise, to name a few.
Inspired by the bands’ efforts to craft a cost-efficient tour for their fans during these hard times, Atlantic Records will give away a pair of tickets to five fans in every market who pose the best reason as to why they need a free night of rock. Fans can send their stories and enter the contest through Atlantic Records’ www.atlanticrecords.com — see website for details.
Produced by multiple Grammy award winner Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 upon its release last summer. The album marks the dynamic hard rock band’s first foray into the international marketplace, where it has been met with incredible enthusiasm, particularly in the UK: “There’s little doubt that Shinedown are among the most exciting new bands around,” declared Classic Rock, while Kerrang! praised Smith as “simply a masterful entertainer and frontman, a star.”

1 “Stimulate This!” Staind, Shinedown, Chevelle, Halestorm and Atlantic Records Deliver Rock Fans Their Own Bail-Out; U.S. Tour Kicks Off July 1 in Peoria, IL, Featuring Discounted Ticket Prices and Local Value Add-Ins for Ticketholders
Hard rock mavens Staind, Shinedown, Chevelle and Halestorm will be teaming up this summer for the “Stimulate This!” tour, a four-band bill designed to offer fans maximum value at a minimal price.
Making its way across the U.S. beginning July 1 and extending through early September, the “Stimulate This!” tour will hit more than 40 U.S. markets, including some of the hardest hit by the recession. In a show of solidarity for their fans, the four bands have worked closely with the concert promoters to create a package of exceptional value for ticket buyers. Through their collective efforts, they’ve been able to maintain modest base ticket prices that remain mostly under $40 each — half the cost of comparable multi-band summer tour packages — with some venues offering lawn seats for less than $10. “Wall Street got its bailout; now it’s time for rock fans to get theirs,” said Staind frontman Aaron Lewis. “This summer, we want to give our fans one night where they can forget about everything else and experience a great rock show.”
Staind’s latest album, “The Illusion of Progress,” marks the band’s fourth consecutive studio album to debut in the top 3 on the Billboard 200 and features the #1 alternative rock song, “Believe.” The Atlantic recording group’s decade-long career is marked by more than 13 million in album sales worldwide and five #1 singles spanning three different radio formats. “The Illusion of Progress” is the band’s sixth studio album and the follow-up to 2005’s certified platinum “Chapter V.” Produced by Johnny K (3 Doors Down, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold), Staind recorded “The Illusion of Progress” in frontman Aaron Lewis’s home studio. Currently the third single from the album, “This Is It,” is climbing up the Active Rock radio chart. Staind is Aaron Lewis (vocals/guitar), Mike Mushok (guitar), Jon Wysocki (drums/percussion), and Johnny April (bass, vocals).
Atlantic recording group Shinedown’s latest single, “Second Chance,” is proving to be a cross-over smash, earning the Jacksonville, Florida-based band its highest chart position yet on the pop charts, coming in at #11 this week and rising — the track has already gone to #1 at Active Rock and #2 at Alternative. The companion video for “Second Chance” has climbed to #4 on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown and also enjoys airplay on MTV, MTV2, and Fuse. The title track from Shinedown’s current album, “THE SOUND OF MADNESS,” recently stormed to #6 at Active Rock, continuing the band’s staggering run of 10 consecutive Top 10 hits at the format. Produced by multiple Grammy award winner Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” has been RIAA-certified Gold after debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200 upon release last summer. The album marks the band’s first foray into the international marketplace and has already been met with incredible enthusiasm, particularly in the UK: “The man is simply a masterful entertainer and frontman, a star,” enthused Kerrang! about lead singer Brent Smith; “There’s little doubt that Shinedown are among the most exciting new bands around,” declared Classic Rock. “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” follows the band’s platinum selling debut “LEAVE A WHISPER” and gold-certified followup “US AND THEM.” Shinedown is Brent Smith (vocals), Barry Kerch (drums), Zach Myers (guitars), and Eric Bass (bass).
Multi-platinum Epic recording artists Chevelle have just wrapped up recording their highly-anticipated new album “Letter From a Thief” which will hit stores later this summer. The Chicago-based trio spent seven weeks co-producing the new album with Brian Virtue (Jane’s Addiction, 30 Seconds to Mars, Deftones) in Nashville, Tennessee and are excited to hit the road and debut their new material. “Letter From a Thief” marks Chevelle’s fifth studio album and will follow up 2007’s smash “Vena Sera.” Formed in 1995, the Chicago-based band has remained a staple in the hard rock scene with six Top 5 Modern Rock hits under their belt, including the #1 songs “Send the Pain Below” and “Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)” as well as fan favorites, “The Red” and “The Clincher.” Chevelle is Pete Loeffler (vocals, guitars), brother Sam Loeffler (drums), and brother-in-law Dean Bernardini (bass).
Atlantic recording group Halestorm just released their self-titled debut album. Produced by Howard Benson, “Halestorm” is an explosive collection of infectious hard rock anthems, a fiery flurry of sexy hooks and rough and tumble grooves. Steering this runaway train is singer/guitarist Lzzy Hale, who brings a hypnotic intensity to such tracks as the sensual first single “I Get Off,” which is bulleting up the top 30 on the Active Rock radio chart.
