Praying Mantis, Weapon, Stampede, Gaskin plus special guests Agincourt will rock this year’s inaugural Denim & Leather NWOBHM Festival  at Wolverhampton’s Slade Rooms on Saturday September 29th.  And as if that wasn’t enough, the night will be compered by the legendary Krusher Joule.

Gigblasters and Rock Rotation Radio are proud to bring a night of New Wave of British Heavy Metal back to the country where it all started. Featuring a host of “originals”, it is going to be a night of entertainment that hasn’t been seen on these shores for a long time. Heavy Metal music at its best , back where it started.

New Wave of British Heavy Metal launched a plethora of bands, bands today still influenced by the movement. Is it any wonder so many of the original bands are still going?

All four of the NWOBHM bands on this bill were and are some of the prime movers and the support Agincourt has a very NWOBHM sound, testimony to their influences.

There will be a meet and greet with all the bands, as well as a load of authentic NWOBHM merchandise on sale.

Doors open at 4pm and tickets are priced at £15 adv / £17.50 on the door

Earlybird ticket special – £14 until July 29.

0 Stampede Reveal Lineup Change and Headline Midlands Charity Event on March 30

  • March 7, 2012

  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music

British melodic hard rockers STAMPEDE have announced that they are going back to basics as a four piece lineup with a special headline appearance at a Hard Rock Big Noise Transmission – a charity event in Wolverhampton on 30th March.

The band’s line up henceforth will consist of original songwriting duo Reuben Archer (vocals) and Laurence Archer (guitar) and original bassist Colin Bond.  New drummer Tim Price, who has previously drummed for Gary Moore, Dr Feelgood, Eddie Martin amongst others, will complete the ensemble. They are due to unveil the new formation at their first show of 2012 – where they will be headlining an official launch night event at Wolverhampton’s new Numa Bar Jagged Rock Lounge venue, from which proceeds will go to The Compton Hospice, a local charity which supports patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Stampede had a busy 2011 releasing A Sudden Impulse, their first studio album since 1983’s cult classic Hurricane Town, and completing a UK tour with Y&T, dates with Anvil and Praying Mantis as well as an appearance at Hard Rock Hell V, with a slightly amended lineup which saw the arrival of second guitarist Chris Clowsley and Stevie Graystone on drums replacing original stickman Eddie Parsons.

Reuben comments: “We had a fantastic year and a lot of fun recording A Sudden Impulse despite some logistical hiccups for Laurence along the way. Regardless we were all so pleased with the finished result and the fantastic response to both the album and our live shows.

“However the original members of the band feel strongly that the next album should be recorded as near to the original line up as possible to really capture the essence of the Stampede sound.  The desire is now to get back to our roots, and with Tim we have found the link to make it work in the absence of Eddie. We are very excited about it all and can’t wait to showcase Tim in Wolverhampton on 30th March, where we are delighted to have been asked to play for such a worthy cause!”

UK hard rockers STAMPEDE are giving away a free download of newly recorded studio track ‘Shadows of The Night’ on Facebook.

http://www.facebook.com/stampederock

Stampede have recently been in the studio recording a special remake of SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT, a track which was an old favourite and always a mainstay of their live set.  The track is now available to download for free exclusively from the band’s official Facebook page, and will be available for a limited time only.

The band announce news of the free download just as they kick off a series of live dates with US rockers Y&T, in support of their new album ‘A Sudden Impulse’, released in May this year on Rock Candy Records.

Although originally recorded live, both for a BBC In Concert session and at Reading Rock Festival in 1982 for the live Official Bootleg album, up until now Stampede had never recorded a studio version of the song.

“We wanted to do something to say a big thank you to our fans and to all the people that have supported us this year with the release of our new album ‘A Sudden Impulse’”, states vocalist Reuben Archer.  “Shadows of the Night has always been a real favourite of ours so we thought it would be great to do a studio version to give to our fans”

0 STAMPEDE Set To Release New Studio Album: ‘A Sudden Impulse’ this Spring

  • January 20, 2011
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music

Newly reformed NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) heroes STAMPEDE have announced details of the release of their new album ‘A Sudden Impulse’ – the long awaited follow up to their classic 1983 debut studio album ‘Hurricane Town.’

Finding a happy and welcoming new home with Rock Candy Record’s spin-off front line label Grind That Axe Records, the band are finally excited to be able to reveal full track listing and artwork for the new album, which is due for release on April 18. Lead singer Reuben Archer comments “Personally I am really excited about the new album and our association with Rock Candy. It’s great to feel part of something that’s happening and more than anything we can’t wait to get out there and play live!”

One of the most respected hard rock acts during the early eighties, the band signed to Polydor Records and released two albums of impressive melodic rock to both critical and commercial acclaim, being compared to earthy British bands such as UFO and Humble Pie.

Following regenerated interest brought about by Rock Candy Records’ reissue of ‘Hurricane Town’ in 2006, song writing partnership Reuben and Laurence Archer decided to reform the band in 2009. Together with original bassist Colin Bond, new drummer Steve Graystone and the addition of a second guitarist in the form of Chris Clowsley, the band have crafted a worthy, if not superlative, long lost follow-up to their studio debut in the opinion of label manager Derek Oliver, who describes the new material as “lean, mean tough-guy hard rock with all the soulful delivery of classic British steel led by Reuben’s instantly identifiable vocal and Laurence’s blistering plank spanking burn outs.”

Reuben strongly believes that welcoming additional elements to Stampede have only served to strengthen the band, making the new material on A Sudden Impulse their most enjoyablestudio experience yet. For example, twenty‐year‐old guitarist Rob Wolverson was invited toadd his unique flair to the recordings as a result of Laurence being indisposed for a period because of personal commitments. Explains Reuben: “We could have had several existing name players fill in during this time, but I’d known Rob for years and watched him grow into a real guitar whizz‐kid. He’s also a great writer and brought a lot of vibrancy to the project. I just knew he was right for the job.”
Commenting on the end result, Reuben adds: “We have a harder sound now, the melodic
hooks are there and I think we have a lot more edge than the first time around – especially due to our new powerhouse drummer Stevie G, and also Chris, whose strong rhythm guitar, vocal and guitar harmonies contribute enormously to the new sound. It has all resulted in making the reincarnation of Stampede an even more exciting project for us.“

‘A Sudden Impulse’ is released on Rock Candy Records, April 18th 2011

Live dates scheduled for Spring 2011 TBA.

Full track listing of the album is as follows:

A Sudden Impulse (2011)
1) Send Me Down An Angel
2) Jessie
3) Having Fun
4) Make A Change
5) Hard Rock Hell
6) This Road

1 Hellyeah – Stampede (2010)

  • July 26, 2010
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · CD Reviews A-H · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Hard Rock Videos · Music · Video

I have to admit that I have had mixed feelings about the band Hellyeah prior to their releasing Stampede.  The last album just didn’t do it for me, and I expected a lot more from Vinnie Paul & company. On Stampede, Hellyeah, sounds more like a complete band than on their debut.  To my ears, everything has improved with album two.  The song writing is better, the music is better, Chad Gray’s vocals are even better. As a result, Stampede is a better album!  With that being said, even though Stampede is better than its predecessor, it still is not without it some issues.  There are a few songs that I would consider filler, and although Gray’s vocals are better, his voice is still an acquired taste.

“Cowboy Way”, and “Hell of A Time” are pretty cool tunes.  I even hear a little bit of that Pantera-like groove that I love so much.

The song “Better Man” took me by surprise. It is completely different from the first four songs on Stampede.  This is a balladesque tune that was written by Chad Gray.  It kind of sounds like a heavy Skynyrd tune.  Hellyeah could actually have a big hit on their hands with this.

With “Polerider”, Hellyeah have created a brand new anthem that will likely take all of the strip clubs by storm. This is a pretty catchy tune!

The first time I heard “Stand or Walk Away”, I had to check the credits on the album.  Chad Gray sound an awful lot like Fozzy’s Chris Jericho on this track.  This is a mid tempo number that isn’t quite as heavy as some of the tracks on Stampede.  It is a very good tune that is going to get a lot of airplay.

Overall, with Stampede, I see Hellyeah growing as a band. This album definitely has a lot more good material than bad. This album proves to me that this metal super group has the potential to excel past all of their previous bands, and truly make an impact on the metal scene.  Stampede won’t be the album to do it, but it will certainly make a lot of folks take notice of Hellyeah for the first time.

If you are a fan of Pantera, Damageplan, Nothingface or Mudvayne, you gotta give this album a chance.  You will definitely find some cool tunes to rock to!
