UNISONIC released its debut EP, Ignition earlier this year. After the addition of Hansen to the group’s lineup in early 2011, UNISONIC continued the songwriting process for its debut release, incorporating Kai’s talent for writing great anthemic rock songs into its existing material. Hardly Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 3, the UNISONIC collective effortlessly fuse the many sides of heavy music they know and love. The band’s music is versatile and takes a broad approach to heavy rock without sacrificing the power and strong, catchy melodies that characterized the band members’ previous projects.
Michael Kiske – Vocals
Mandy Meyer – Guitar
Kai Hansen – Guitar
Dennis Ward – Bass
Kosta Zafiriou – Drums
Kosta Zafiriou, drummer and original member of PINK CREAM 69 left the band. He will be replaced by his good friend and long time drum tech Chris Schmidt, who played drums for Sunstorm, Harry Hess’ First Signal and more.
Kosta: “It was a very hard decision to leave the band I co-founded back in 1987, but I am sure this is the right step. Due to my various activities with my company Bottom Row plus being the drummer and manager of my new band UNISONIC, more and more I felt I was retarding PC 69´s career. Chris is a great drummer and a good friend of the band since many years, which makes him the perfect match for PINK CREAM 69. I wish the guys only the best and look forward to see the first show with him – as a visitor, enjoying the songs that accompanied me half of my life!”
The band already started recording the successor to the “In10sity”-album on the 1st of march. The new, yet-untitled, effort will be released by Marquee/Avalon (Japan + SouthEast Asia) and Frontiers Records (rest of the world) in the autumn of 2012.
Says guitarist Alfred Koffler: “The vibe within the band is very enthusiastic and creative. There are far too many strong songs by Dennis (Ward), David (Readman) and myself to pick from. There will be eleven of them on the album plus a couple of bonus tracks for the different markets and formats. We also will have guest appearances by two famous musicians on the new record – both fans of the band. More on that soon!”
For the release of the new PINK CREAM 69 album, the band will also be shooting a new video clip – the first one since “Shame”. The band will be appearing at several European festivals during the summer and will tour after the release of the album.
Ok….I knew Unisonic would be awesome when I talked toKosta Zarifiou about it well over a year ago. If this video is any indication what the new Unisonic album is going to sound like, it is going to be INCREDIBLE!! Their debut album will be released In March.
Unisonic is the long awaited reunion of Kai Hansen (ex Helloween / Gamma Ray) and Michael Kiske (ex Helloween), with Mandy Meyer (ex Asia, Krokus and Gotthard), Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69) and Kosta Zafiriou (Pink Cream 69).
Many fans all over the world have been anticipating this for years, now it comes true – Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen teamed up again, Kai joined UNISONIC!
Michael Kiske: “After so many years of abstinence I had a lot of fun doing my first live shows with Unisonic in summer 2010, so I agreed to do the short world tour with Avantasia. It was a great experience to be on stage with all those great artist, but with Kai it was something different: We instantly felt the magic again and had a lot of fun together on and off stage. We both realized that we want to be together in band again. He was interested in the open musical concept of Unisonic and finally asked me if he can join the band. I talked to my bandmates and they all felt great about it. His talent as a guitarist and songwriter is an enrichment for the bandand we are looking forward to his contribution for the music of Unisonic.”
Kai Hansen will stay a member of his band Gamma Ray and play all scheduled shows. Currently he is writing songs with the Unisonic guys for the long anticipated debut album, which is planned to be released at the end of 2011.
