VAINS OF JENNA introduce new lead vocalist Jesse Forte.

It was just 10 days ago that VAINS OF JENNA announced the departure of their long time friend, Swedish comrade and vocalist Lizzy DeVine. However, it’s a new day, change is now and we are proud to introduce to you Jesse Forte the new lead singer and front man for VAINS OF JENNA.

Jesse Forte was raised in Orange County California and comes from a musical back ground. He attended music school at MI, played in a slew of bands since a teenager and even admits he pan-handled on the corner playing guitar for money. Jesse says: “I am a performer first. Whether it be 5 people, or 5,000 – I am embrace that opportunity to sing and play music.” The bands newest member was born in Arkansas but moved to the West Coast at a very young age. Eventually Hollywood’s music scene came calling and Jesse started killing and thrilling crowds on the Sunset Strip.

“We first saw Jesse in 2009 when his band opened for us at the ‘Cat Club’. And he blew us away.” Says VAINS OF JENNA co-founder and bassist JP White.  Jesse is unique for sure. Imagine Steven Tyler’s charisma and Chris Cornell’s voice mixed in a blender with a pair of nunchakus – and you get Jesse Forte. The bands new voice has studied the martial arts since his youth.

The Swedish rockers have had lots of success during their young career in the states. So, this was no doubt a big blow – but the band refused to lay down and die. “It’s not in my blood to stop doing what I started. I love music, I live music, and this is what I do.” Says Nicki Kin the bands key song writer and multi instrumentalist. Kin plays lead guitar, piano and has in the last year; even shared some lead vocal duty in VAINS OF JENNA. The band has lived the American dream by touring on the biggest of stages, appearing on the hippest TV shows, and gracing the pages of countless magazines. But that was yesterday, and today is a new day. “We embrace this change, and we welcome Jesse into our family.” Says the band.

VAINS OF JENNA first burst into the music world when Kin & drummer Jacki Stone were still in High School. Gigs on the weekends, rehearsals at night and school all day. Jacki says: “Thank God that is behind us, I never liked school much and had no interest to be a factory worker. I pursued music very early and have no plans to quit.” The youngest and self taught drummer has been playing in bands with Kin since they were in the 4th grade. Stone’s brother White has this outlook: “We’re not a Hollywood band or a Swedish band either. We’re just a rock band. We want to see the world. And I speak for all of us when I say – we cannot wait for the world to see us.”

The bands brand new single with Jesse Forte singing “Everybody Loves You When You’re Dead” on the MySpace. Play it now – video coming soon.

VAINS OF JENNA headline the “WHISKY-A-GO-GO” Saturday April 10th 2010 in Hollywood, California. A European Tour follows with dates booked in Norway, Sweden, England, Wales, Italy & more.

In a statement to management and the band – lead singer Lizzy DeVine has officially left the group.

“The last 5 years with this band has been the best years of my life. It’s with a tear in my eye, but a whole lot of love and respect for the band, manager, endorsers and fans all over the world, I announce that I’m no longer the lead singer/front man of VAINS OF JENNA. It’s been a crazy ride. And I’ve loved every second of it. But now I must move on and let the band grow. I’ve done more with this band than I could ever have dreamed of but now it’s time for new adventures! I love all of you.” Lizzy DeVine

VAINS of JENNA comprised of lead guitarist and main song writer Nicki Kin (Age 23), bassist JP White (26) and drummer Jacki Stone (23) embrace this change with the following statement.  “We have always been a family and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. Today we support and respect Lizzy’s choice. We wish him all the best in the future and we part ways as friends. To our fans and friends everywhere, we are as shocked at this development as the rest of you. But we are real, committed to our music and will go forward. We have been honored by all of your support over the years and cannot express enough our regrets to bring this news. But this is reality and we accept the challenge.”

VAINS of JENNA formed in 2005 in Falkenberg Sweden. They have been featured internationally on TV and radio, appeared in hundreds of print articles and performed over 400 shows in a dozen countries. The band was originally signed by MTV star BAM MARGERA (Jackass/Viva La Bam) to Filthy Note/Universal in 2006. Soon followed major North America tours with Poison, Ratt & GWAR in 2007. They returned to Europe in 2008 and toured ITALY, ENGLAND & SWEDEN which included the Mega Festival SWEDEN ROCK. In the summer of 2009 the band was back in Los Angeles to release “The Art of Telling Lies” (RLS/RAW NOIZE) which received 5 star reviews around the globe. Since inception VAINS of JENNA have continuously drawn comparisons to legendary groups like Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses and Hanoi Rocks.

“We are seeking a young, hungry, aggressive, dedicated, fresh face and voice to front our band. Someone who is one of us. If you think you’re the guy for the job – then step to the plate now.” Nicki, JP & Jacki

When Vains of Jenna released their debut album Lit Up/Let Down in 2006, there was far too much hype surrounding that release. It left quite a few fans with a bad taste in their mouths, many of which now think the band is overrated.

Fast forward to 2009, Vains of Jenna has released their sophomore effort, The Art of Telling Lies.  This CD is everything the debut record should have been and more. Everything about this CD surpasses VoJ’s previous effort.  The song writing, the musicianship, and the vocals are all better than Lit Up/Let Down. Brent Woods (Wildside, Vince Neil) was the producer on this CD.  It sounds like he caught the band at their best on this disc.

To me, this CD is very similar to the music that has been coming out of Sweden as of late. It is sleazy, catchy and cool.

Guitarist Nikki Kin sounds like he has been overdosing on Guns N’ Roses in his downtime.  His guitar playing on this CD reminds me a lot of Slash. His playing isn’t quite to that level, but it is pretty good. I was immediately hooked with his riffs on the opening track, “Everybody Loves You When Your Dead”.

Vains of Jenna added some sleaze to their cover of Tom Petty’s “Refugee”. Aside from the vocal delivery, this is pretty much a faithful rendition of the Top Petty classic.  It is a cool cover, and I think VoJ does a better job with this song than Poison did with Petty’s “I Need To Know” a couple of years ago.

I kept finding myself cranking the volume up on “Get It On”.  This is one fun sleazy rocker.

“Enemy in Me” was featured on the Viva la Bands, Volume 2 last year.  I thought this song was better than anything on the first VoJ CD, the first time I heard it.  I am glad the band decided to add it to this CD.

Vains of Jenna slows it down for the song, “Better Off Alone”.  This is a pretty cool tune that shows a different side of the band. This ought to be a hit for the band.

The Art of Telling Lies has renewed my interest in Vains of Jenna. I can only hope that I get to see the band perform some of these songs live.  I am proud to have this CD in my collection, and will be getting a lot of repeat plays out of it.

If you would like the purchase this CD, the only place I have found that is selling the CD online, is CM Distro.com, however you can download the album off of iTunes, Amazon.com & more.  For more information on Vains of Jenna, and to hear tunes off of The Art of Telling Lies, please check out the VoJ myspace page.
