0 VICIOUS RUMORS Announce New Lineup and News for 2014

Heavy Metal Giants VICIOUS RUMORS start a new chapter and welcome new band members Nick Holleman on lead vocals, Tilen Hudrap on bass guitar and welcome back Bob Capka on guitar.
Nick, a native of Holland, has a powerful melodic voice with great range and tone. A natural talent with high octane stage presence and endless sustain. VR fans old and new were stunned by his performance on the last tour in the USA. Nick was hired on the spot after band leader Geoff Thorpe saw a video on Youtube!” I just imagined him singing our songs and it works perfectly. Once we met and the chemistry was right I realized I found the right guy for the job!”
Tilen is a native of Slovenia. After a series of auditions, Tilen was hired last summer to fill in on tour. The band liked his aggressive playing and monster stage presence so much that he was invited to join the band as a full time member after his first show in July. Tilen already played 2 world tours with the band (Europe and USA, 50 shows) and appears in the newest video for the title track off the current album “Electric Punishment”.
VR welcomes back Bob Capka, who played on the highly acclaimed ” Electric Punishment” CD and has been on 3 tours in Europe and the USA. Bob brings shredding solos and riffs as well as a hunter’s killer attitude to the stage show.
Original members guitar player Geoff Thorpe and drummer Larry Howe are proud to officially announce that this killer new line-up has already recorded a new live album!
The legendary institution that is Vicious Rumors is stronger and faster than ever. After eighty shows on tour in 2013, the new VR line-up has recorded the massive “Live U to Death 2 American Punishment”. VR has captured the power and precision with classics that have never been recorded live. “Towns on Fire”, “Worlds and Machines”, “Master Mind”, “World Church”, “You Only Live Twice”, to name a few. Thirteen tracks in total. The album was recorded during the “American Punishment Tour” in the United States of America in Sept/Oct 2013.
Four albums in four years the mighty, VR ball is sharper then ever. Upcoming tours include European summer festivals,a South America Tour in September/October and also Australian/New Zealand shows in 2014′. Vicious Rumors will play the “70.000 Tons of Metal” festval cruise this year from January 27th – January 31st playing the whole “Digital Dictator” album in its entirety for the first time ever!
Don’t miss VR’s epic Heavy Metal Attack… “Live U to Death 2 American Punishment” on SPV/Steamhammer to be released early 2014. Look for VR on Tour as the ball rolls through your town in the 2014.
0 New Video – Vicious Rumors – I Am The Gun
When Vicious Rumors returned from a long, strenuous and immensely successful world tour in autumn 2011, the musicians – least of all band mastermind and main songwriter Geoff Thorpe – couldn’t really see themselves mustering the energy to release a new studio album in the foreseeable future. “2011 was a monster year for Vicious Rumors in the most positive sense of the word,” he says, looking back at that time with surprise and some satisfaction. “We were on the road non-stop for more or less eight months, played countless club shows and performed at some of the most important festivals worldwide. The last show of the tour took place as part of the 70,000 Tons Of Metal cruise – what a finale! Then everything was over very suddenly and we started to work on our new album without so much as a break. Perhaps you can imagine how difficult that was and how much concentration we needed to do that kind of work without any loss of friction.” Now the doubtlessly successful result of that big challenge is scheduled for release: Vicious Rumors are set to unleash Electric Punishment sounding more multi-faceted and creative than they have done in a long time.
Vicious Rumors has released a new video today “I Am The Gun” in support of Electric Punishment. Check it out below!
There definitely is no discernible loss of friction on Electric Punishment, which is again ruled by what Thorpe refers to as an “impressive double bass thunder, double guitar attacks and haunting vocals the way you only get them with this band”. At the same time, the ten new songs are clearly more multi-layered and diverse than the material on its 2011 predecessor Razorback Killers. “While Razorback Killers was heavy all the way through from start to finish, the new material is more in the vein of Word Of Mouth,” Thorpe explains. At the same time, the uncompromising toughness that their fans have come to expect of Vicious Rumors is present on Electric Punishment as well: the two openers ‘I Am The Gun’ and ‘Black X List’ are typical as can be of Vicious Rumors. Thorpe refers to those numbers as “classic power metal tracks which would have fitted on every one of our albums. But there’s also an unusually atmospheric song called ‘Eternally’, an anthem to our audience entitled ‘Together We Unite’ and a deeply black ballad named ‘Escape (From Hell)’. I’m sure that our fans will be just as surprised of the whole album as they will be of the final Kiss cover ‘Strange Ways’.”
Surprised and most likely thrilled, because once again the band has brought all its skills to bear and come up with a real highlight. Thorpe, vocalist Brian Allen, bassist Stephen Goodwin and drummer Larry Howe were supported by guitarist Thean Rasmussen, who returned to the Vicious Rumors fold after Razorback Killers. In addition, Thorpe & Co. invited a number of former allies to the studio as guest musicians: Brad Gillis features on ‘D-Block’, ‘Together We Unite’ and ‘Eternally’, Marc McGhee on ‘Escape (From Hell)’, and last but not least tour guitarist Bob Capka helped out at the studio with a number of rhythm guitars and a haunting solo on ‘D-Block’. Thorpe: “I had a few problems with my fingers, that’s why I was glad that Bob was there to help. Otherwise it probably wouldn’t have been possible to stick to our tight production schedule.”
So it’s done: Electric Punishment is Vicious Rumors’ eleventh studio album and proves just how much of a force to be reckoned with this band continues to be. “We have permanently grown, there have been no two identical albums in our career because each album has a new, fresh approach,” comments Thorpe, not without pride. “Still we’ve never strayed from our course – perhaps precisely for this reason. We’ve remained faithful to our ideals and have always been honest with our fans. I think our loyal followers value that Vicious Rumors have never jumped on any kind of bandwagon. Everything we do comes from the heart, and Electric Punishment documents that no other band on this planet sounds like Vicious Rumors. To us, that’s an incentive, a challenge and a quality feature all in one. And it’s something our fans can rely on when we set off on our next monster tour in spring 2013.” Vicious Rumors have been scheduled to headline countless clubs and play important festivals (the Headbangers Open Air in Germany and the Alcatraz festival in Belgium having been confirmed already) before going on to Japan and the USA. Thorpe: “We’re facing big challenges again – but that sort of thing has always helped Vicious Rumors to grow!”

3 SPV/STEAMHAMMER NEW RELEASES IN STORES TODAY
Today, sees a host of amazing rock and metal releases coming from SPV/Steamhammer. Six albums are available today, including: VICIOUS RUMORS, BRIAN ROBERTSON, KINGDOM COME, ASSASSIN,MY INNER BURNING and ENGRAINED. Info about each release can be found below:
VICIOUS RUMORS: “Razorback Killers”
It’s Geoff Thorpe’s story of power and pain. The quest to change people’s lives with the power of metal music and the fascination of his band in 2011. The guitarist and main songwriter of American power metal act VICIOUS RUMORS says: “The older we get the more wicked VICIOUS RUMORS sound. We’ve definitely not slowed down – quite the opposite – have even more drive. Our fans won’t see a single VICIOUS RUMORS show where we don’t go to our limits and beyond.” Anybody who has been to one of the group’s gigs during the past two years knows just what he means. Thorpe’s comment not only describes his band’s concerts, but also without reservation VICIOUS RUMORS’ latest album “Razorback Killers”. The album features ten breathtaking new songs which transport the traditional VICIOUS RUMORS sound perfectly into the present. To make a long story short: this band has never sounded more dynamic than on “Razorback Killers”.

BRIAN ROBERTSON: “Diamonds and Dirt”
It’s not the first time in the history of rock music that coincidence led to the discovery of hidden treasures: a carrier bag full of music tapes (note: tapes!) turned out to be the basis for “Diamonds and Dirt”, the first solo release by Scottish guitarist/composer BRIAN ROBERTSON. “I thrust the bag into my friend Søren’s hand and said: ‘Why don’t you listen to these some time when you’re bored. They’re a number of my previously unreleased compositions.'” Søren Lindberg from Sweden happens to be one of former Thin Lizzy/Motörhead guitarist BRIAN ROBERTSON’S closest friends and frequently works as his driver when he has equipment which needs transporting. “He had plenty of time to listen to that pile of tapes in his truck on the way back to Scandinavia,” ROBERTSON remembers, “and he called me as soon as he reached Stockholm: ‘BRIAN, there’s some brilliant stuff on those tapes. We should make an album of them!'”

KINGDOM COME: “Rendered Waters”
It is not the success of the early days which Lenny Wolf associates KINGDOM COME with, nor earlier hits from his long-standing career. What he really cares about is the present. Is this a contradiction in view of his new album “Rendered Waters”which features eight old and three newly recorded songs? Certainly not, all eleven tracks were cut at Lenny’s Two Square Noise Factory studio in Hamburg, Germany. In particular, the new recordings of old material show KINGDOM COME’S vision of living in the here and now. “I purposely chose tracks from the very early days to show how we play, hear and feel the songs nowadays,” says Wolf. “Listening habits have changed dramatically, especially among the younger audience, which made it exciting for me to breathe new life into numbers which have not been heard for a while.”

ASSASSIN: “Breaking the Silence”
GO! FIGHT! KILL! No sound truly defines Thrash Metal more than ASSASSIN. A hybrid of Speed Thrash Metal and Hardcore splashed with a sense of humor, it grabs you by the throat and kicks your ass. Although a band photo predates the official band formation, ASSASSIN was officially formed in 1984 with the original lineup of, Robert Gonnella(vocals), Dinko Vekic (lead guitar), Scholli (rhythm guitar), Lulle (bass) and Psycho (drums). In autumn 2010 the band signed again a record deal with the german label SPV/Steamhammer and recorded their new album with producer Harris Johns (Voivod, Kreator, Sodom). The new album “Breaking The Silence” will be released worldwide in March 2011 and ASSASSIN are back again kicking asses!!!

MY INNER BURNING: “11 Scars”
Listening to MY INNER BURNING’s powerful brand of metal, you can be certain that they have lots of triumphant victories ahead of them. MY INNER BURNING have the determination it takes, and they’re ready to present their second album, “Eleven Scars”, a surprisingly mature offering which highlights an impressive development compared to their already exciting 2009 debut. “Eleven Scars” sounds groovier and a little darker than their first self-titled release. Guitarist Torsten Sauerbrey explains the reasoning behind their darker sound “Probably the many concerts we’ve played since, and the stronger influence of our vocalist Becky, who penned the occasionally rather sinister lyrics.”

Right after the release of their 5-track EP “Anger, Roots and Rock n Roll” ENGRAINED recorded their first full length album called “Deep Rooted”. The recording, mixing and mastering was done by Tommy Newton who is known for his excellent work with bands like Helloween, Guano Apes, Terry Hoax, UFO and many others. ENGRAINED have truly honed their sound on the new album with 13 ferocious, fluid, hard driving songs. Honest Rock n Roll with a good shot of Punk Rock.

0 Vicious Rumors – Razorback Killers (2011)
I have been a fan of the heavy metal band Vicious Rumors since their excellent debut, Soldiers of Night from 1986. The lineup of Vicious Rumors has changed several times over the last 25 years, but one thing has remained constant, guitar player Geoff Thorpe. Thorpe is the heart and soul of Vicious Rumors. His dedication to creating quality metal has not changed since the band’s beginning. I am convinced he has metal in his blood.
Razorback Killers is a heavy metal fan’s dream. Heavy guitars, screaming vocals and songs that will absolutely kick your METAL ass! New Vicious Rumors singer Brian Allen (Last Empire, Malice, Wild Dogs) is a terrific find, and a fantastic addition to Vicious Rumors. He may be my favorite Vicious Rumors singer since the late Carl Albert (God rest his soul)! He can growl, scream and sing with the best of them!
I don’t know if Brian Allen has been a new muse for Geoff Thorpe. Thorpe has always been a great guitarist, but his guitar work on Razorback Killers is stellar. I can’t say enough about his playing on this disc.
The music on Razorback Killers oscillates between classic heavy metal, and thrash, and it never fails to disappoint. This disc will easily be a solid contender for metal album of the year. Heavy Metal just got a major kick in the ass!
If you are a metal head, you should be RUNNING to the store, and picking this up when it is released (April 5th). You can purchase it online here!

0 VICIOUS RUMORS TO RELEASE “RAZORBACK KILLER” APRIL 5, 2011 IN NORTH AMERICA VIA SPV/STEAMHAMMER
It’s Geoff Thorpe’s story of power and pain. The quest to change people’s lives with the power of metal music and the fascination of his band in 2011. The guitarist and main songwriter of American power metal act VICIOUS RUMORS says: “The older we get, the more wicked VICIOUS RUMORS sound. We’ve definitely not slowed down – quite the opposite – have even more drive. Our fans won’t see a single VICIOUS RUMORS show where we don’t go to our limits and beyond.” Anybody who has been to one of the group’s gigs during the past two years knows just what he means. Thorpe’s comment not only describes his band’s concerts, but also without reservation VICIOUS RUMORS’ latest album “Razorback Killers”, due out on SPV on 28 March 2011 (Germany: 25 March 2011, US: April 5th.) and featuring ten breathtaking new songs which transport the traditional VICIOUS RUMORS sound perfectly into the present. To cut a long story short: this band has never sounded more dynamic than on “Razorback Killers”.
The reasons for VICIOUS RUMORS’ high-powered performance? Thorpe has a plausible explanation: “The metal is in our blood!!!! Plus we always have an awesome line-up. Larry Howe on drums and vocals, our bassist Stephen Goodwin and guitarist Kiyoshi Morgan, and in Brian Allen we’ve found the best vocalist you could possibly get for these kind of songs.” Brian Allen joined the VICIOUS RUMORS fold one and a half years ago at the recommendation of Matt McCourt (Wild Dogs), a long time friend who Thorpe met up with at the Headbangers Open Air. “Matt had praised Brian, and I thought that he’d be perfect forVICIOUS RUMORS.” His assessment soon proved true: from the beginning, Allen showed his great potential during intense rehearsals. “We immediately noticed this raw, pure quality in him. Like a snowball, something very big developed very quickly out of small beginnings. During our five-week European tour, Brian got nothing but positive reactions from our fans.”
So Brian Allen and Kiyoshi Morgan are – along with Thorpe, Bassist Stephen Goodwin and drummer Larry Howe, of course – two of the elemental parameters which make “Razorback Killers” such a dynamic powerhouse of an album. Three other musicians deserve to be mentioned: the guest guitarists Mark McGee, Eric Peterson and Brad Gillis. “Isn’t it fantastic that Mark returned and contributed those amazing solos on two songs?” McGee was a band member between 1986 and 1995 and has launched veritable guitar solos on ‘Blood Stained Sunday’ and ‘Pearl Of Wisdom’. “Mark and I trading solos just like the old days,” enthuses Thorpe, who also can’t hold back his delight at Eric Peterson’s impassioned solo passages on ‘Murderball’. “Eric has been a friend for many years and is the driving force in Testament. His solo on ‘Murderball’ is a perfect combination of the whole energy of VICIOUS RUMORS and Testament, merged into one song.” And last but not least: Brad Gillis, who otherwise makes his living as one of the band leaders in Night Ranger, is one of Geoff Thorpe’s close friends and already delivered a number of great solos on VICIOUS RUMORS’ predecessor album, “Warball”. This time around, Gillis contributed a matchless – as Thorpe calls it – “classic tremolo guitar solo” on ‘Deal With The Devil’. “I remember well when he replaced the late Randy Rhoads in Ozzy Osbourne’s band. Brad has my utmost respect as a friend and colleague.”
So the furious “Razorback Killers” marks the next chapter in the career of VICIOUS RUMORS, whose history is paved with countless highlights: the band took the legendary Dynamo Festival in Eindhoven, Netherlands, by storm with their amazing shows in the summers of 1990 and 1994, floored the 2002 Wacken Open Air, rocked the metal fans at the 2007 Bang Your Head Festival and are celebrated frenetically all over the world for their passionate live performances. VICIOUS RUMORS have released ten excellent power metal albums to date, travelled the world over a dozen times – with Metallica, Mötley Crüe, Judas Priest, Aerosmith and many others – and are now ready to present their latest recording to their fans. “We’ll be co- headlining the Keep It True festival in April 2011, one month after the album is released,” Thorpe promises. “We’ll be touring for the rest of the year in the USA, Europe and Japan, hopefully also visiting countries such as South America or Australia, where we’ve never been before.” “Razorback Killers” produced by Geoff Thorpe and Juan Urteaga certainly has the potential!
