The Finn-formed rock group White Flame are in the midst of working on their third studio album together with a well-known Swedish producer Chris Laney, who has previously worked with bands such as Europe and Crashdiet, just to name a few. The band will be heading to Stockholm in September for some studio time and the long awaited record will be expected to hit the stores by beginning of 2012. White Flame as a group are of the same mind-set that this collaboration is going to work as an excellent stepping-stone to enter the international music market and a fine opportunity to showcase true Finnish rock / hard rock music to the world.
For the sole reason of working on new material for the upcoming album White Flame will only play two festival gigs in Finland this summer before heading to the studio. Preliminary discussions on an album release tour in Sweden are on the works and there are also plans to head out to Europe once again soon after the actual release date.
White flame has previously released the albums Yesterday’s News (2007) and Tour Bus Diaries (2009) in Europe, and a compilation album called RockHard (2009) in Japan.
White Flame has released a new internet single & video, “Payback”. The video was directed by White Flame’s frontman Vince, who as of late has been doing quite a bit of film making. He is pleased with the outcome of this newest video for “Payback”. “It has a very gritty feel to it. The song is all about Karma and how in the end you can’t escape what’s due. And that quite a hardboiled message. We wanted to bring out the grittyness in the tune and I totally feel we nailed it!”

Finnish rockers White Flame released their sophomore effort Tour Bus Diaries in 2009, and believe me this one band that has not hit a slump. There are a bunch of cool tunes on this disc, of which I have described just a few of.
Tour Bus Diaries picks up where 2007’s Yesterday’s News left off, with the hard rocker, “Tall Thin In”. This song is a cool rocker that has a distinct Aerosmith vibe to it.
“FU&” is so insanely catchy, it should be a crime. You might find your self singing this out loud “FU& I will have my fun”. One thing is for certain, you will want to rip the knob off of your stereo with this impressive rocker.
The bass groove on “Frontrow Girl” is absolutely infectious. The song is short, but it absolutely delivers the goods.
“The Ground” is a very catchy sleaze style rocker that will get your foot tapping in no time.
I can’t ever hear enough of the cowbell in a song, and “Twins” has this and a lot more. This upbeat hit worthy rocker also has horns, piano and some kick ass guitar work to boot.
“Shouldn’t Been Messin’ is a really cool tune that oscillates between a cool piano based number, and a heavy rocker that would make Ugly Kid Joe proud. I love the Saxophone & horns on this tune! Well done!
From the opening blues harp on “Life We Never Had”, I detected another Aerosmith like feel. The song almost starts off like “F.I.N.E.”, but then quickly becomes a massive tune that stands out on its own. This is a slower paced number that have been a massive hit for White Flame. The rock gods are far too unkind to this band.
“No Frozen Angels” features former Bloodpit singer Matthau Mikojan on vocals. I can’t say I am familiar with Bloodpit, but Mikojan’s voice sounds tailor-made for this good & sleazy music.
Do I dare say that “Life We Never Had” has a “Purple Rain” like feel to it? For whatever reason, that is what this song reminds me of, although “Life We Never Had” has more of a bluesy edge to it.
Every time I listen to Tourbus Diaries it seems to get better and better. If White Flame keeps putting out CD’s of this quality, the band will become international superstars. One thing is for certain, if you are a hard rock fan, you need to take a ride on to White Flame’s TourBus now! You won’t want to miss out on this kick ass CD.

Today is the day when the next chapter of the White Flame saga begins with the release of the first single off their new album. The massively attacking song “Tall Thin In” continues in classic WF tradition with it’s raunchy guitar riffs and witty texts wrapped in a tight package of energetic Rock&Roll.
Vince is thrilled to be back on the scene as is eager to let people hear the new tune. “For me Tall Thin In is just the perfect song to put out as the first single. It has everything we are good at. The mean groove and those wicked harmonies and a good message to back it up.”
You can listen to Tall Thin In on White Flame MySpace!
Vince wished to take this time to talk about the upcoming album titled Tourbus Diaries. “It’s a road album. Many of the songs were written while we’ve been touring and there are songs that tell stories of how we as a band see life on the road. Some tell happier stories, while others expose the raw truth of the hell You experience out there.”
Tourbus Diaries will be out on the 27th of March across Europe. The album will contain songs like Dancing With Her Sister, Frontrow Girl, Certainly Something, (No) Frosen Angels (duet with Matthau Mikojan) and of course the new single “Tall Thin In”.
Friday the 13th will be a lucky day in February when White Flame is releasing long waited single “Tall Thin In” from their upcoming album. Track will be available for free listening in White Flame MySpace and in radio stations around the Europe. To make sure that your local radio station will play the song on that day you’d better go and wish it on their website or make your wish by phone.
White Flame has also released some dates of upcoming shows for this year. Tour calendar contains cities from Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and France. Check out the dates by clicking on to www.whiteflamemusic.com.
I have known about the band White Flame for over a year now, but their CD, “Yesterday’s News”, was not available in the United States until now.
I originally posted White Flame’s video, “Hour of Emptiness” in the HRH Segment, “Sink or Swim”. The folks that voted all said let it swim unanimously, making White Flame’s Yesterday’s News, Hard Rock Hideout’s first Sink or Swim Winner.
As far as hard rock goes, I love it when a band just gets it, and White Flame does just that. The band cranks their Marshall amps up to ten, plays loud and plays hard. Yesterday’s News is a fine blend of funky, bluesy, kick ass hard rock. White Flame wears their influences on their sleeves on this disc. I can hear touches of Motley Crue, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, and maybe even Sweet F.A. (remember them?) on this disc.
There are a lot of good songs worth checking out on Yesterday’s News. “Gun” has this awesome groove that will get you headbanging instantly. “Swimsuit Issue Centerfold” is one of the coolest rocking tunes I have heard in a while. Some of my other favorites on this disc are “Kill The Radio” and the title track, “Yesterday’s News” and the awesome ballad “Miss U”.
White Flame’s “Yesterday’s News” isn’t breaking any new musical ground, but if you are a fan of the 80’s era of hard rock, you are bound to love this. This is a hard rock record that needs to be heard by all! On a side note, not only is the CD good, but the ultra cool digipak comes with a booklet that folds out into a mini news paper with song lyrics, photos and more. I thought this was a nice touch, especially from a new band.
The Bottom Line, White Flame is a killer new band with a very good debut record on their hands. If they play their cards right, they will be anything but “Yesterday’s News”. Check them out on myspace at this link.
