One of the best unsigned bands I have heard in a very long time, is Overloaded from Detroit, Michigan. This killer hard rock band has the kind of sound that will appeal to most fans of 80’s Hard Rock and Heavy Metal.
Overloaded’s sound is similar to that of Slave to the Grind era Skid Row. Lead Singer, Chris Gillen has a killer voice, and reminds me a whole lot of Sebastian Bach at times.
This disc is a hard hitter right out of the gates. Hellfire, Heavy Metal Highway and Shotgun City will have you busting out the air guitar in no time. Lead Guitarist, Erik Kluiber plays impressive solos all throughout this disc and sounds as good if not better than many of the seasoned veterans in the hard rock scene today.
The amazing thing about this disc is the production is the damn good! Usually that is uncommon for unsigned acts, but this is a big studio quality sound.
Did I mention this whole disc rocks?
Where Are You Running To is one of the coolest new songs I have heard in 2007, and I have heard a bunch.
Beaver Feaver is a much better song than the title suggests. The band sounds like they are going to rip the roof off with this track.
The high energy and chugging guitars on Cyclone will send you into a head banging frenzy.
It is a travesty that this band hasn’t been signed to a major label, and promoted. This band is too good for Detroit to have them all to themselves. If the music gods are kind, we will be hearing big things out of this band in the future. You can hear Overloaded’s music at their myspace page. You can find more information on Overloaded at their website www.overloadedmusic.com. For a paltry sum of $10.00, you can pick up their CD at CD Baby. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up today!
