Hair of the Dog – S/T (Release Year – 1998)
One of the better live bands that I saw in the late 90’s , was the L.A. Hard Rock act, Hair of the Dog.
I recently reacquired a brand new copy of this disc for a mere $6.00 and was shocked to have found it. It is pretty hard to find in 2007.
The band was creating and performing great hard rock music, when it was pretty unpopular.
They have been fairly quiet since their last release, Ignite in 2001, but are rumored to be taking the stage in Rocklahoma 2008.
If you like great hard party rock, then you need to check out Hair of the Dog’s self titled debut from 1998. On this disc, I can hear the influence of Ted Nugent and Aerosmith in the bands’ music. Ryan Cook’s slide guitar is a nice addition to the hard rockin’ tunes.
Even though this disc doesn’t come close to capturing the energy of the band’s amazing live show, it is definitely worth spinning today.
Some of the stand out tracks are Cadillac Jack, Whiskey Tango, Alone and The Party Ain’t Over.
You can check out a few of the band’s tunes at their myspace page. If you can find a copy, I recommend picking this one up!
