Frontiers Records is excited to announce all details surrounding the forthcoming HOUSE OF LORDS album “Come To My Kingdom” to be released on March 14th 2008.The band’s previous studio album “World Upside Down” was a real fan favourite, so James Christian and the guys went back to the recording with the precise task to create a true rock milestone which could pick up where “World Upside Down” left off.
With the help of the “Fifth Lord” Jeff Kent plus Tommy Denander and Chris Pelcer, the band’s songwriting talents of James Christian, BJ Zampa and Jimi Bell have been flourishing to reach some of the highest levels in the band’s career ever.
Written during the summer 2007, the album was recorded in the fall and mixed by Dennis Ward in November / December. The result is truly outstanding. From the signature intro of “Purgatorio Overtoure n.2” to the epic atmospheres of the title track through to soaring melodic numbers like “I Need To Fly” to the in-your-face attack of “One Foot in the Dark” and to the baroque ballad “Another Day From Heaven”, this record has truly everything the fans may want to ask to James Christian and his cohorts.
”Come to My Kingdom” will include the following songs: Purgatorio Overtoure n.2; Come To My Kingdom; I Need To Fly; I Don’t Wanna Wait All Night; Another Day From Heaven; In A Perfect World; The Dream; One Foot In The Dark; Your Every Move; I Believe; One Touch; Even Love Can Save Us; In The Light; Another Day From Heaven (Acoustic Version)*
* Exclusive Bonus Track for Europe
Click on the highlighted tracks above to preview the new songs!
House of Lords are already planning live appearances in the spring / summer 2008 with the plan to storm the European audiences. The band was also already confirmed for the ROCKLAHOMA festival 2008. Prepare to “Come to My Kingdom” to be released on Frontiers Records on March 14 with a release in Japan scheduled on King Records. Dates will be posted at the Frontiers Records website as well as www.jameschristianmusic.com
“I have been approached to see if I would be interested in contacting Rudy Sarzo and Carlos Cavazo and to audition singers for QUIET RIOT.
“I have also been approached to see if I would be interested in contacting and reforming the version of QUIET RIOT that included Paul Shortino, Carlos Cavazo and Sean McNabb.
“Let me make this very simple and perfectly clear. While I am still actively involved in the business interests of QUIET RIOT and will continue in that capacity, I reject any and all suggestions to have QUIET RIOT continue as a live performing entity.
“My friendship, love and respect for [late QUIET RIOT singer] Kevin DuBrow as well as my personal love and affection for Kevin’s mother and his family makes it inconceivable for me to ever entertain any ovation to reform or to continue QUIET RIOT. Kevin was too important to go on without him. It would also be a disrespect to the fans who have supported QUIET RIOT for nearly 25 years.
“I thank everyone for the wonderful and sometimes unpredictable adventure that I was able to share as a member of QUIET RIOT. The only regret that I have is the loss of Kevin. May he rest in peace.
“I now begin life after QUIET RIOT.”

MEGADETH frontman DAVE MUSTAINE has big news for metal fans: GIGANTOUR is back, and MEGADETH has a new guitarist. The third installment of GIGANTOUR–the acclaimed traveling heavy music festival launched in 2005 by MUSTAINE–will kick off April 12 in Denver, CO with headliner MEGADETH, Scandinavian death metal band IN FLAMES, Finland’s CHILDREN OF BODOM, Arizona’s modern extreme JOB FOR A COWBOY and Oakland, CA heavy power trio HIGH ON FIRE all confirmed. The 29-date trek will criss-cross North America and wraps May 22 in Phoenix , AZ.
MUSTAINE sums up the philosophy behind GIGANTOUR, hailed by Revolver magazine as “the mother of all shred-fests” : “If the bands and the fans are treated well, then the entertained and the entertainers go home happy–it’s a win-win situation.” Since its inception in 2005, GIGANTOUR has galvanized bands that emphasize true musicianship and virtuosity, offering them a new opportunity to showcase their talents. “I think that in a small way, we are cleaning up the environment of crappy bands,” he says, laughing. “All of the people that really love this kind of music know that they can count on these bands to deliver the goods this year.”
In other MEGADETH news, the group has officially welcomed new guitarist CHRIS BRODERICK (Nevermore, Jag Panzer) to the band after parting ways with Glen Drover–which was hinted at back in November. “I’ve noticed [on the Internet] that people are pissed with me over the way things were handled with Glen quitting the group,” says MUSTAINE, “but they’re gonna be pissed even more when they hear how fierce we are with Chris! Megadeth is playing at a new level.” BRODERICK will make his live debut with MEGADETH February 4 in Finland, where the group–guitarist/singer MUSTAINE, guitarist BRODERICK, drummer SHAWN DROVER and JAMES LOMENZO on bass–is kicking off a long string of international dates which wrap March 14 in Bangalore, India. The full itinerary, including GIGANTOUR UK dates, is below. To see BRODERICK in action, check out http://www.chrisbroderick.com/video/fiveoctave.html .
GIGANTOUR features bands hand-picked by MUSTAINE with a sharp eye on true musicianship and a heavy focus on top-notch guitarists. The first incarnation in 2005 included Dream Theater, Fear Factory, Nevermore, Life of Agony, Symphony X, Dry Kill Logic and Bobaflex, while the 2006 trek included Lamb of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Into Eternity, Sanctity and The Smashup. The trek always offers a strong connection between fans and musicians.
VIP ticket packages are available–via www.gigantour.com , www.megadeth.com and www.ticketmaster.com –whereby fans can take a personal photo with MEGADETH at an exclusive meet & greet session and receive an official tour laminate, guitar picks, etc.

One of the better metal discs of 2007, is Steve Grimmett’s Personal Crisis.
This is a release that has a sound that is deeply rooted in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. For me, this is a very good thing, as I enjoy most of the bands that came out of the NWOBHM era. I have always enjoyed Steve Grimmett’s voice in Grim Reaper, but I wasn’t sure what to expect with his solo disc.
I have always classified Steve Grimmett as a Rob Halford type of singer. His voice has matured, and has maybe deepened a little bit since the Grim Reaper days. The high pitched screams are gone, but I am completely ok with that. His voice is more relevant with today’s metal releases than ever before.
80’s metal fans looking for a disc with ultra sharp guitar playing, and killer vocals, need not look any further. Ian Nash’s playing on this record will win you over immediately. There is plenty of guitar noodling for you to feast your ears on.
Personal Crisis has a few surprises in store for you. Joanna Ruiz sings on the track Enemy, along with Grimmett. This is an extremely strong track, and Ruiz’s voice really adds a new element to this song.
Steve Grimmett covers his old band’s tune (Grim Reaper) with the tune, Wrath of the Ripper. This song will have you scurrying to pull out your copy of See You In Hell, to compare it to the original. I love this version of the tune.
Personal Crisis is a record that no metalhead should be without! Finding this disc in the United States may present quite the challenge for you. I recommend picking up a copy from Impulse Music at this location. You can preview some of the songs at the Steve Grimmett myspace page. Take the time to check them out! You will be glad you did!

Every time I think about the last Bon Jovi release, Lost Highway, I shudder to think how far Bon Jovi has fallen away from their rock roots. I decided to drag out my copy of 7800° Farenheit to rediscover the music, that Bon Jovi used to be about.
7800° Farenheit is the sophomore effort by Bon Jovi. One look at the picture on the back of the CD, and you see that they were heavily rooted in the 80’s glam metal at the time. The music is hard rock with a melodic edge due to the keyboards by David Bryan. The keyboards on this record are almost over bearing. Richie Sambora is a solid guitarist, and he isn’t given enough chances to shine on this record. The record isn’t a total loss though.
The song In and Out of Love, always brings back happy memories. This is one of Bon Jovi’s harder songs that they have recorded, and certainly one of my favorite tunes by the band.
There are certainly some forgettable tunes on this disc. I haven’t listened to Price of Love, King of the Hill and Hardest Part is the Night in a long time. All of these songs are somewhat forgettable.
This album does have its share of solid cuts though, and In And Out of Love, Only Lonely, Silent Night and Tokyo Road, are by far the best ones.
Although I like several of the songs on 7800° Farenheit, I can not deny that some of tunes here sound somewhat dated. They don’t stand up as well as some of stuff on the later Bon Jovi releases.
This record does offer listeners at interesting look at mid 80s’s glam. Although it may not stand up to the band’s classic release, Slippery When Wet, it does have some solid cuts worth checking out.
There were a couple of videos released in support of this record, you can check them out below.

Chavis Records has announced the signing of Atlanta’s ASPHALT VALENTINE. The group’s debut release, “Strip Rock Roll”, was produced by Andy Reilly and contains 11 tracks of “high-energy white-knuckled rock ‘n’ roll.”
ASPHALT VALENTINE will begin the 2008 touring season by hitting the road January 18.
Formed in 2003 out of frustration with the present music scene, ASPHALT VALENTINE consists of “five guys with one common goal — to play sleazy, ballsy, no frills, white-knuckled rock and roll in an era that is overrun with corporate induced blandness,” according to a press release.
(Rocklahoma side note: The band has July 11 – 13th scheduled in Pryor, OK.)
The band was forced to change their name, using the spelling that it is today. The Kelly Hansen led, Hurricane, must have had rights to all things related to the name back in the 90’s.
I always thought the name change and spelling was kind of stupid. Funny enough, when I pop the CD in my player, the name comes up as Herricane Alice. Even Atlantic Records couldn’t get their name right. The name of the album, “Tear the House Down” also seemed to be a poor choice as well. Several bands in the 80’s and early 90’s had a song with the same name. It is a very cliched title.
Luckily, the music here is better than the name. Singer Bruce Nauman has a vocal style that falls somewhere between KISS’ Paul Stanley and Marq Torien from the Bulletboys. The music wasn’t breaking any new ground. It is fairly typical 80’s pop metal, but it is still very solid.
Tear the House Down is one of the many overlooked records of the 90’s pop metal era. Some of my favorite cuts, are Wild Young and Crazy, Dream Girl and Need a Lover.
There is good news for those of you seeking out a copy of the Hericane Alice CD from 1990. The folks at Wounded Bird Records are putting out a reissue of this CD in February. If you didn’t grab a copy of the original disc from Atlantic Records. You will soon be able to pick a copy of this disc without paying extortion rates on Ebay.
All of you new hair metal fans who never had the opportunity to get this disc, out to pick this up when it comes out.
You can preview some of the songs below at the Hericane Alice myspace page. This band has resurfaced at The Alice in 2007. We may not have seen the last of this group yet.

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce all the details surrounding the highly anticipated come back studio album from WHITE LION entitled “Return of The Pride”.All the trademarks of the White Lion classic sound can be found again in the new album which offers a musical variety that covers the entire musical spectrum the band is well know for. “Return Of The Pride” kicks off with “Sangre de Cristo”, a thunderous epic that ventures into lyrical and musical territories best heard, than described. “Battle At Little Big Horn” is the album’s other soaring epic, a musical re-enactment of one of Native America’s most significant historical event’s: Custer’s Last Stand. Hook laden rockers such as “Dream”, “Live Your Life” and “Finally See The Light” maintain a positive musical and lyrical vibe throughout the album, whereas “Gonna Do It My Way” and “Let Me Be Me” are the modern day “Living On The Edge” songs of rebellion.
“Return of The Pride” will include the following songs:
Sangre de Cristo; Dream; Live Your Life; Set Me Free; I Will; Battle at Little Big Horn; Never Let You Go; Gonna Do It My Way; Finally See The Light; Let Me Be Me; Take Me Home (European Bonus Track).

The album was produced by singer Mike Tramp and bassist Claus Langeskov and recorded during 2007 in both Australia and Copenhagen, Denmark, in between touring commitments.

If the three tracks on the Human Animal EP is any indication of the kind of tunes that Odin has in store for us in 2008, sign me up now.
Jeff Duncan’s guitar work on this record is very similar to his heavy licks on the Armored Saint records on which he appeared.
Randy “O” has a one of a kind, earth-shattering scream that is extremely cool.
As a whole, Odin has a heavy sound that falls somewhere between Dokken and DIO. It is a great metal sound that I can really get into. My only problem with this EP, like so many of them is, it is too short. The three songs on this disc, only left me wanting to hear more.
Once this CD starts to circulate, fans will be demanding more Odin, without a doubt.

To celebrate the grand opening of the much-anticipated Dr. Feelgood’s Rock Bar and Grill, the owners are inviting the public to a free street party and concert by rock legend, Vince Neil, MÖTLEY CRÜE’s famous front man and a co-owner of the project. The celebration is scheduled to start on Saturday, January 19 at 7:30 p.m. and will take over the 200 block of Clematis Street in Downtown West Palm Beach where fans and Downtown patrons are expected to see Neil and his band perform some of MÖTLEY CRÜE’s most famous tracks. The concert will be followed by a rock-inspired ceremonial ribbon cutting to officially open the new venue.
Named after MÖTLEY CRÜE’s best-selling album, Dr. Feelgood’s will be an attention-grabbing, rock n’ roll-themed restaurant and nightclub located at 219 Clematis Street. The venue, which will initially be open from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. from Tuesday to Thursday and 5 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, is a creative collaboration between Neil, Washington Redskins offensive tackle Todd Wade, former University of Florida quarterback Bob Hewko, and South Florida nightlife visionaries Cleve Mash and Rodney Mayo.
“We strongly believe that Downtown West Palm Beach is the perfect location to launch the first Dr. Feelgood’s,” said co-owner Mash, who has been an instrumental force in bringing Dr. Feelgood’s to life. “The concept is a natural fit for the distinctive feel of the Clematis District and the timing is just right with the revitalization of Downtown and the waterfront and the renewed energy you can feel on the streets.”
Other grand opening week highlights, which are open to the public, include:
* Tuesday, Jan. 22: Dr. Feelgood’s will launch its Vinyl Tuesdays, a regular rock ‘n’ roll hospitality night, with a special performance by internationally renowned DJ Sizzahandz from the Crooklyn Klan spinning his latest “rock mash-ups.”
* Saturday, Jan. 26: DJ Riz, the acclaimed resident DJ from Las Vegas’ Pure and LAX nightclubs, visits West Palm to perform “rock mash-ups”
The 8,500 sq. ft. Dr. Feelgood’s will feature memorabilia from Neil, including his Count Kustoms choppers and autographed guitars. A giant snake — about eight feet in length (no one wants to get close enough for an accurate measurement) — slithers around a column in the center of the space; booths are covered in faux alligator skin and bar stools in faux snakeskin; dramatic, oversized murals featuring artwork from top ’70s, ’80s and ’90s album covers take center stage on the walls; and the DJ booth is built behind the front end of a ’57 Chevy. The venue features multiple bars, go-go platforms, a raised stage for live performances, high-tech light and sound show capabilities and private booth spaces. Dr. Feelgood’s will have a full menu and complete bar.
Dr. Feelgood’s is part of Clematis Street Live, a new multi-venue entertainment and restaurant complex in the 200 block of Clematis Street. Other projects include Forte di Asprinio, an upscale Italian-inspired eatery by Bravo! Network’s “Top Chef” star Stephen Asprinio; Lost Weekends, a pool hall; Rebar, a NYC loft-style nightclub; and Sushi Rok, a popular Clematis Street mainstay located in the complex.

This CD blends the styles of several bands that I enjoy including Foreigner, Whitesnake, Bad Company and more.
If you know the band Fair Warning, you are already familiar with Tommy Heart’s vocals. I prefer his work in Soul Doctor. This is killer stuff.
It has been quite a while since I have heard a CD, where I have enjoyed ever song, and the new Soul Doctor disc delivers all the way through. With this disc, you get great singing, smoking guitar work, and songs that rock hard.
My digipak version of this disc included a bonus track called Let’s Zep, which is a nice medley of Led Zeppelin tunes stretched over 9 minutes. This was an extremely cool way to close out this disc.
My only complaint is that I didn’t get to hear this disc in 2007. If I had, it would have easily cracked my top 10 list.
Do not miss out on, one of the better discs of 2007. You can check out Soul Doctor at the band’s website Souldoctorrocks.com .

AC/DC will reportedly play special “secret” club gig on January 25 at Glashaus in Reinach, Switzerland. Only 400 tickets are apparently available for the concert, which is part of a short mini-tour of small venues the band is planning on undertaking at the end of the month.
According to the Spanish web site RafaBasa.com, AC/DC has been quietly working on its first all-new album since 2000’s “Stiff Upper Lip” with legendary producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange, and is planning on releasing the effort — which is rumored to be titled “Strap It On” (a name that has apparently been bounced around for at least the last couple of years) — at the end of April. The group’s guitarist, Angus Young, is also said to have fully recovered from a recent knee injury which had apparently contributed to the delay in getting the new record completed.
Southern rockers Jackyl have posted a new song online!
The new track is called “My Moonshine Kicks Your Cocaine’s Ass“.

This week’s Video Showdown puts Metallica’s St. Anger Video, against Megadeth’s A Tout La Monde. Both videos are the last videos made by either band. St. Anger is from the album of the same name from 2003.
A Tout La Monde is the updated version that can be found on the Megadeth album United Abominations from 2007.
Their has always been some strife between the two bands, as Metallica fired Dave Mustaine years ago. As both bands has grown, I think Megadeth has become more consistent than the band he once got his start in.

Jacksonville based hard rock outfit Allele has posted a free Mp3 download of a previously unreleased acoustic version of the track “Unknown”. The latest bit of glam metal comes from Knyght, a young five piece band from Italy.
Destination Unknown is the band’s five track demo. Judging from the tracks here, Knyght is a band with potential, but could use a good producer to help them tighten up their sound.
Tommaso Forni’s vocals kind of reminds me of a young Vince Neil. The music on this disc is solid enough, but the mixing seems to be all over the place. Stop Me is a fairly catchy tune, but the keyboards are mixed way to high on this tune.
The title track, Destination Unknown is another tune that has a lot of potential. The guitar work on this tune, was mixed way too low, and is drowned out by the keyboards.
I have no problem with the keyboards on the songs here, but they are mixed too high above the guitar playing, and that should be the band’s focal point.
Knyght is a band that has a lot of potential. They need to continue to work on crafting their sound. With the help of a producer and some one with a little more mixing experience, they could have a lot to offer to the glam metal fans around the world.

This is the first TSO show that I have gone to, and I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I was well aware of TSO’s ties to the metal band, Savatage before I went to this show, but was not expecting this to be a hard rock show by any means.
In essence, this was like a hard rock show in disguise. It was definitely a Christmas themed show, but it was much, much more than that. This wasn’t an orchestra rehashing the same old Christmas songs that have you listened to 1000 times over the years.
The first half of the show, had a Narrator telling a Christmas story, in between songs. This kind of bored, my wife and I, and I could have done without this portion of the show. Aside from this distraction, the show was pretty amazing. The songs and arrangement played throughout this show, were a unique blend of classical and metal music. It was Christmas songs, redone in a fashion, that only Trans Siberian Orchestra could perform.
The show itself had it all. One of the best light shows I have ever seen live. Tons of pyro, lasers and more.
The stage was lit up in a way that I have not seen before.
Although TSO has many members, a few musicians stole the show. Guitarist (Savatage) Chris Caffery and (ex-Testament) Alex Skolnick were on fire all night. Mark Wood and his flying V, violin was a pleasure to watch as well.
This show had plenty of surprises in store for the concert goers, including a keyboard duel, a second stage in the audience and more.
If you get the chance to experience TSO live, do so. You won’t be disappointed. It is a unique live show that you can’t experience anywhere else. This show was a nice way to close out the great year of live music that 2007 brought to my area.
I was able to take one video at the show (before my camera self destructed), which was the first song of the night, Hark! the Herald Angels Sing. Check it out below!
