March 11, 2008 — A new chapter in the legendary career of multi-Platinum rockers JOURNEY–Neal Schon (guitar), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Ross Valory (bass), Deen Castronovo (drums) and Arnel Pineda (vocals)—will begin on June 3 with the highly anticipated release of REVELATION, a three-disc CD and DVD package to be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores in North America.
The first disc will consist of 11 re-recorded classics, the second is filled with 11 new songs, and the third is a live, in-concert DVD. All of the music on REVELATION was produced by Kevin Shirley (who previously worked with JOURNEY on their Platinum-certified TRIAL BY FIRE album).
JOURNEY will take REVELATION on the U.S. concert trail later this July, with details to be announced in the coming weeks.
VH1 Classic Presents: AFTERMATH: The Station Fire Five Years Later’
One-Hour Special Premieres Easter Sunday, March 23 10:00 p.m.*
On VH1 Classic and VH1
VH1 Classic and VH1 premiere “VH1 Classic Presents: AFTERMATH: The Station Fire Five Years Later,” a one-hour special that will incorporate concert highlights from the Phoenix Rising! Musicians United to Benefit the Victims of the Station Nightclub Fire, which took place on February 25 in Providence, Rhode Island, and interviews from the music fans who survived the horrific fire five years ago.
Premiering Sunday March 23 at 10:00 p.m., “VH1 Classic Presents: AFTERMATH: The Station Fire Five Years Later,” interweaves performances from the benefit concert hosted by Dee Snider with on-camera stories from the survivors of the fire, who share their first-hand experiences of what happened that night five years ago. Brett Michaels opens the documentary, taking the audience back to the site of the fire that now stands as a memorial.
The concert features Twisted Sister (Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Eddie “Fingers” Ojeda, Mark “The Animal” Mendoza, A.J. Pero) and Tesla (Jeff Keith, Brian Wheat, Frank Hannon, Dave Rude and concert co-organizer Troy Luccketta), Aaron Lewis from Staind, Winger, and Eric Martin from Mr. Big. In addition, country music lends a hand to rock and roll with sets from John Rich (Big & Rich) and Friends, featuring Gretchen Wilson and Dierks Bentley.
Ultimately, “VH1 Classic Presents: AFTERMATH: The Station Fire Five Years Later,” is a continuation of the effort to raise awareness about the plight of the Station fire survivors. These music fans now bear traumatic mental and physical scars from the events of that night. 100 lives were lost in the fire, 200 others seriously injured. 65 children lost one or both parents and five years later, only 15 survivors qualify for Social Security benefits, insurance policies are depleted and many are still unable to meet their basic monthly needs such as heat, electricity and rent. Many survivors are unable to work due to their injuries, which include missing limbs, blindness, and severe lung damage from smoke inhalation. Their medical bills are continuous and astronomical due to these badly burned victims requiring care for the rest of their lives.

From the Associated Press Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is putting down his ax while he goes under the knife.
Perry canceled a solo show scheduled for April 5 in Niagara Falls, N.Y., so he can recover from knee surgery, spokeswoman Marcee Rondan said in a statement released Monday.
Rondan said Perry has needed knee surgery for two years but put off the procedure so he wouldn’t miss any Aerosmith tour dates.
The 57-year-old’s knee finally gave out early this month after a pair of performances with his two sons. That prompted his doctor to schedule the surgery for March 18.
Make no bones about it! There is a new rock revival coming from Ireland. The land that brought us acts like Van Morrison and Thin Lizzy, is at it again with groups like The Answer, Million Dollar Reload, and Glyder.
Glyder is often compared to their countrymen, Thin Lizzy. This isn’t without reason as Glyder’s singer, Tony Cullen has a style similar to the late, great Phil Lynott. Nonetheless, Glyder is not without their own merits, and Playground For Life is one fine hard rock album.
Playground for Life is an album that didn’t hit me immediately. It took several listens before this one grew on me. The one thing that did hit me right away, was the excellent guitar playing of Bat Kinane and Pete Fisher.
The first two cuts are Gambler’s Blues, and Sweets are quite heavy, and much to my liking. After the first two songs, Glyder tends to move into more of a classic rock direction. The tunes are less heavy, but are still quite solid. The title track, Playground for Life is quite good, and the tune Over and Over is also quite cool.
As a whole, Playground for Life is very good album that will please most classic rock, and hard rock fans. For more information on Glyder, check out their myspace page.
