MetalManiaOnline, put up a clip of the new Judas Priest single, Nostradamus. Check it out below!
Now, don’t get me wrong, I like Judas Priest. They WERE a great band, but not anymore. The last album was overwrought and underrocked. I bet this one makes it look like British Steel though.
Scott Travis is a fine drummer, but not every musician fits into every situation and I never felt he fit JP cohesively. He worked out great with Halford in Fight which had more of a hardcore influenced sound, but neither he not the JP sound adjusted to each other.
As far as your prediction goes, just like Nostradamus, it will come true for those who really WANT to believe it. Of course, that doesn’t actually make it accurate.
I dunno – sounds like Judas Priest to me. These guys still rock pretty hard for a bunch of grandfathers.
Have not heard it thanks for warning me
Hahaha..Bob I love stuff that just came out and sounds like 20 years ago. That’s when good music was done. PS: Painkiller is a classic and Scott Travis is one of the best drummers around. And in the vein of Nostradamus (without tarot cards) I will predict that this album is gonna kick ass (and not suck ass!) and you will change your mind( as blocked as it is right now, I think there’s still some hope for you to come around and enjoy good music one day) and here’s a NOT passive agressive smile for ya my friend 🙂
Rob, Painkiller is okay, but I think Scott Travis’ drumming never quite fit (he’s more of a speedmetal drummer). Ram It Down was alright as well. Turbo, of course, sucked. So that brings us back to 1984’s Defenders of the Faith which was the last album in their prime. Yeah, I guess I was wrong, they started downhill about 24 years ago. Sorry for the error.
Marcelo, you should save yourself some money and just listen to the stuff that actually came out 20 years ago rather than wasting more money on new stuff that just sounds like it came out 20 years ago.
Peaked 20 years ago? You didn’t like Painkiller Bob?
Aside from Lochness, I thought Angel of Retribution (2005) was pretty good. Judas Priest still has some legs. I listened to this song a couple of times last night, and I like it.
I’m pretty predictable yes. I have the terrible habit of buying music that I like instead of spending my money on the next obscure current trend. Have to work on that.
Oh there’s a big surprise. Marcelo will buy a bad album by a band who’s prime was two decades ago!
Love it. Sounds awesome. Will buy for sure.
Disaster strikes! I was thinking it might be better than the last album until it got to that chorus. It’s a little flat and Halford doesn’t sound his best, but it’s the whole idea of writing an album about something as dumb as Nostradamus that makes it so laughable. What will they do next, a concept album about tarot cards.
